Rep. Devin Nunes Explodes At DOJ Over Strzok; Threatens Contempt

Yes, it's time for anger, and action.

House Intelligence Committee chairman Devin Nunes has issued an angry demand to the FBI and Department of Justice to explain why they kept the committee in the dark over the reason Special Counsel Robert Mueller kicked a key supervising FBI agent off the Trump-Russia investigation.

...

Word of the messages and the affair were news to Nunes, even though the committee had issued a subpoena that covered information about Strzok's demotion more than three months ago. The committee's broadly worded subpoena for information related to the so-called Trump dossier went to the FBI and DOJ on Aug. 24. In follow-up conversations on the scope of the subpoena, committee staff told the FBI and DOJ that it included information on the circumstances of Strzok's reassignment.

Byron York then notes a series of meetings and requests for information about Strzok, on October 11, October 31, November 20, November 29, and December 1. On none of these occasions did Rod Rosenstein or anyone from the DOJ or FBI disclose the reason for Strzok's demotion -- and Nunes was asking.

....

"By hiding from Congress, and from the American people, documented political bias by a key FBI head investigator for both the Russia collusion probe and the Clinton email investigation, the FBI and DOJ engaged in a willful attempt to thwart Congress' constitutional oversight responsibility," Nunes said in a statement Saturday afternoon. "This is part of a months-long pattern by the DOJ and FBI of stonewalling and obstructing this committee's oversight work, particularly oversight of their use of the Steele dossier. At this point, these agencies should be investigating themselves."

...

Now, after this latest episode, it seems likely that leaders in Congress are becoming increasingly frustrated with what they see as the FBI and DOJ jerking lawmakers around. At some point, they will act.

Congress should pass a resolution explicitly condemning Rod Rosenstein and several other DOJ and FBI officials who have been thwarting them -- making it much easier for Trump to fire them. Or at least putting that shot across the bow.

It's far worse than that anodyne description.

The FBI let a Democrat activist shape several important investigations, critical to election integrity and our system of government. Then they hid what they did. Then they lied about it. Then they stonewalled.

Nunes is complaining about the very last part, which I think is relatively minor.

27 I am so sick of this to the point that I am ready to ignore the rule of law like the democrats always do UNLESS they are prosecuting their political enemies. I want to see the DOJ cleaned out and Mueller shutdown and fired - all of his people. I want to see the pleas Mueller coerced set aside because this is all politics. It has nothing to do with justice. Flynn's family has been devastated financially over politics, not justice.

And I want to see democrats who broke the law like the Clinton Crime family prosecuted and jailed. If it means taking to the streets, so be it, but "this democrats above the rule of law and republicans are prosecuted for political crimes must stop."

Posted by: Locke Common at December 05, 2017 12:39 PM (fOsUr)

28 Will this nullify any findings of those special teams doing the investigations? It seems like Flynn's indictment should be shredded up, because there appears to be some hinky stuff going on in the investigation.

Or is this like the liberal women who have to take abuse from Democrat men, because it's for the cause? It doesn't matter if it's illegal, it serves the Left's purpose, so we are going to keep moving forward.

Because this has nothing to do with laws, guilt, or innocence.

The goal of the Mueller inquisition is to remove Trump and anyone else viewed as a danger to the uniparty.

His final decision was rendered before he was chosen. The only question is whether he can make up enough things to get Congress to act on his decision.

One interesting marker on this - if he continues waiting until the 2018 elections it means he knows he hasn't done a good enough job. He will then wait until shortly before those elections to drop an October Surprise - ideally enough to swing Congress to the Uniparty by enough to impeach Trump.

OT: I hope Trump does move the embassy. Ergodan says this will be his "red line" and that is fine with me. It is time to end this farce that we have allies in the Islamic World. Turkey being example number 1. Better yet it will show the EU/UN to be the fair weather "friends" we always knew they were. It will give us another reason to break up the EU and cut funds to the UN.

Well first it already is. All we are arguing about is how much more damage it will do.

Second, one of the biggest reasons for electing Trump was to drain the swamp. If Mueller is removed it will cause a political shitstorm and all of the illegal doings of the Clinton regime will once again be swept under the rug.

Trump isn't in any danger, that should be obvious by now. Let this keep going at least until we get the OIG report and then the entire thing might just collapse under the weight of it's own corruption and we can go after the swamp and Hillary.

It is, firstly, knowing with a dead certainty that the Dems / Deep State / MFM will not stop until they have either removed Teh Donald or made it impossible for him to govern.

And it is knowing that at least 50% of this godforsaken country will not only cheer at that but are even now instrumental in making it happen.

And, saddest of all, knowing that, were Trump removed or impeached, virtually everyone on our side will bluster and threaten and sling wild words, but will, when the rubber meets the road, say "hey, I'd love to take to the streets. I'd love to riot and burn DC to the ground. But I've got bills to pay! And a family to support! I can't afford to do anything!"

And the Deep State coup succeeds.

The reason: If Moore loses now that Trump has gone all in fo him, it will be taken as a sign that Trump's Mojo is fading and the Congress can defy him with impunity.

HOWEVER, if Moore wins, with Trump's help, it will be a sign that Trump's mojo with the grass roots is still strong, and that he can swing elections, and that if they want to stay in office they better stay on Trump's good side.

I suspect Mueller got wind of discussions underway about his firing and he made this request preemptively - thinking that it is like a booby trap. If you fire me now, it will look like you are doing it to hide your bank records.

Personally, I think Mueller needs to get wind of a grand jury being empanelled to indict him . . .

Right or wrong a large segment of the population believes this and that's why I think firing Mueller would be a mistake, especially since there was no collusion. Let them expose themselves further.

277 I'm impresssed with how stupid the government and dems in particular seem to be. They destroyed the filibuster and now the republicans are using that to transform the courts. If they continue to go after Trump, or if they succeed, they all but guarantee the same weapon being used against their own team. This is not going to end well for the deep state. They are going to lose sooner or later. When they do, the longer it takes, the bloodier it will be. There are historical examples all over the globe. Someone referenced Ceausescu yesterday. That is a good example. Im not too worried about what happens to Trump at this point. I think that genie is now out of the bottle. The republicans are learning what happens when you oppose the base. Corker and Flake are recent examples. The likely election of Moore is another. The base is learning it can win. I doubt that they will be satisfied with status quo again.

280 Now that the FBI and it's parent the DOJ have been discredited (yet again), it appears Obama and the left have succeeded in the mid- to long-term goals.

Hillary walks a free person. Mueller utilizes the same corrupt individuals to further is "collusion" witch hunt. And as more of the surface is scratched, the more corruption and political bias we find where there should be neutrality.

How does an agency such as the FBI, or the DOJ as a whole come back this? As this Mueller/FBI/DOJ continues to unfold, they are further shown to be political hacks. What happened to being a premier law enforcement agency? There will always be a taint of mistrust -exponentially more than there was pre-2016.

Take a look around you. This is the new norm. And Obama, allowing governmental agencies to become political weapons -allowed this. He owns this.

Burn it. All of it.

360 Does Congress have the power to tell a DOJ official to produce the requested data now or call an underling to hand deliver this in 30 minutes or go to jail? Repeat down the chain of command every 30 minutes until the info arrives or every DOJ official is jailed. Then use the same excuses the DOJ used to delay the info to delay their release?

361 Yesterday I suggested half-jokingly that Trump pardon Scooter Libby. Well why not?

We can predict the reaction of the MFM. They couldn't shut up. Because they couldn't shut up it presents an opportunity to criticize the Mueller circus by pointing out the absurdity of "process crimes" when no underlying crime has been substantiated. Points out the injustice and unfairness. Kinda like Flynn. It presents an opportunity to give those paying attention, a different framework to view Mueller. Wasn't Libby essentially convicted of telling Tim Russert something different than what he told the FBI?

Also it would be fun to stick to the Bushes and GOPe, et. al.: doing what they wouldn't do for Libby [commuted sentence not pardon].

(i)

any links and/or coordination between the Russian government and individuals associated with the campaign of President Donald Trump; and

(c)

(ii)

any matters that arose or may arise directly from the investigation; and

(iii)

any other matters within the scope of 28 C.F.R. § 600.4(a).

If the Special Counsel believes it is necessary and appropriate, the Special Counsel is authorized to prosecute federal crimes arising from the investigation of these matters.
(d)

This was a big fat honking signal to male sleaze bags that as long as they supported infanticide by tortuous dismemberment (Which suited them just fine, BTW, because who wants to pay support for some whore's kid, amirite??), they could pretty much do whatever they wanted to those women--including rape, and any other vile debased behavior that suited their sick fancies.

I believe it is Rosenstein. Not an ideal situation I agree but he would have trouble approving something that went too far afield and besides, he has other exposure to worry about.

Rosenstein was the Chief Federal Prosecutor in Maryland when the DOJ was prosecuting one of the first Russians in the Uranium One scandal. For some reason, and I think I know the reason, William Campbell was not interviewed by the DOJ or used despite him being the best source of information available. The DOJ referred to him as a victim in court documents and not a witness.

It was a really bizarre move at the time but it is starting to make sense with the Uranium One scandal breaking. The DOJ started briefing the Senate last week on this mess and William Campbell will testify before them in the coming weeks. That is going to put some FBI and DOJ people in some seriously awkward positions and one of them is Rosenstein.

"The Deutsche debts include a loan exceeding $50 million for the Old Post Office, a historic property he redeveloped in downtown Washington, mortgages worth more than $55 million on a golf course in Florida, and a $25 million-plus loan on a Trump hotel and condominium in Chicago, the disclosure shows."

These are boring real estate loans, and in the scheme of what Trump owns, not that substantial.

The spin is that the Russians bought some of these loans and so may have leverage over Trump. If so, it's bullshit.

Someone leaked the subpoena. It's probably Mueller, and it's a sign he's running out of possible charges.

438 Fox is now reporting that Mueller did NOT issue a subpoena to Deutsche Bank. "

Considering the only source for said report is Reuters, I'd question it as well.

439 Mueller is giving the illusion he's really onto something so he and the dem minions can scream that they were getting close so Trump shut them down.

Trump is hopefully just going to watch them self destruct. No firing or shutting down from Trump necessary.

440 >>Why should Rosenstein care?

>>Mueller comes to him asking for expanded authority, what risk does he have approving? None.

Read the link I just posted at 435. He has his own legal exposure to deal with right now.

I wonder if Mueller will release the paperwork for the impeachment of
Trump the same day that the OIG releases the indictment
paperwork for Mueller?

When do we find out the first draft was written back in February? I'm only halfway joking.

"unexpectedly"

now work in "unprecedented" and "punching above his weight" for the trifecta . . .

443 Was the zombie female, and hawt?

Heh. Ya know, the article didn't say. Maybe a viewer knows. I think the actor is married IRL. But wrestling naked with a zombie takes the idea of beer goggles to a whole 'nother level.

And if it was a male zombie, maybe he was trying out the Bro-mance spooning position on the down low.

444 Nood Strzok.

Next up, nude Strzok pics. The guy's got pervy eyes and was banging a friend's wife or something. Give it a week or two.

445 Sometimes I think they are just keeping this thing going because by this point, they are just trying to figure out how to let all the people who dream about Trump's impending impeachment down easy. They created such expectation that anything less than Trump's orange head on a pike is going to be a huge let down....

Posted by: JoeF. at December 05, 2017 01:56 PM (7uYFy)

===

And/or, Mueller's Team is having fun living large in DC at taxpayer expense, plus, every day they continue the charade increases the legal costs to PDT, Kushner, Don Jr, and dozens of other people hated by the Democrats. Win-Win!

447 Per Drudge link, Bloomberg also had reported the Deutsche Bank subpoena..... wonder if they'll get the Brian Ross treatment?

448 426 Huh. Fox is now reporting that Mueller did NOT issue a subpoena to Deutsche Bank.

449 OIG investigation announced prior to Trump's inauguration. Wonder if it was not so much to look at the Hillary email mess for actual issues, as to have a report to reference that stated "mistakes were made, but going forward we'll do better" and close the door? If you read the IG's statement, it notes clearly that there will be no second-guessing of decisions.

450 409 Sessions has a OIG investigating DOJ and FBI for the past 11 months. This is how they discovered Strzok. Mueller and company have allowed the new admin to learn who all the connected sleazebags are. Pass the Tax Bill, elect Moore and then begin the Pit of Misery by letting the OIG Report indict Mueller and company. I imagine these will make wonderful Congressional hearings. They certainly will be televised. Treason against the people is ugly business.

I wish.

Say, how come they got Mueller instantaneously, but we still haven't gotten a Special Consul for Hillary, or any of this latest nonsense? And some have been screaming for it.

Two course of action are possible.

A. Begin talking about Britain and the Dems colluding with Hillary to tamper with our electoral process.

B. Begin talking about a YouTubeVideo that caused the Dems to actively subvert Constitutional government to install Hillary so as to protect all the rotten, sleazy hacks within the swamp of DC.

The people will buy either allegation.

452 "...it seems likely that leaders in Congress are becoming increasingly frustrated with what they see as the FBI and DOJ jerking lawmakers around. At some point, they will act."

No, they won't. They'll sit there and take it. Again and again and again. Oh, a few speeches might be made, some tables will get rightly bruised, but not a thing will happen to tangibly punish the agencies and its most offensive violators.

Now, if some were fired, wages lowered, and staff reduced due to budgetary restrictions, then - and only then - would the point get made. A contempt charge, however official, is an admission that nothing of substance is coming.
