#ButGorsuch: Rich Lowry Asks If The NeverTrumpers' Sarcastic Hashtag, "#ButGorsuch," Is Warranted

Whenever the NeverTrump fruitbats want to stick it to their enemies, actual Republicans, they'll post something derogatory about Trump and then say "But Gorsuch," a sarcastic mockery of actual Republicans who believe, correctly, that the Gorsuch appointment was a major victory for conservatism and ameliorates a certain amount of Trumpish buffoonery.

And is it really just "But Gorsuch"?

But Gorsuch ... and Other Excellent Judicial Picks ... and a Tax Cut ... and Major Deregulatory Actions ... and Immigration Enforcement ... and the End of the Individual Mandate ... and a Roll Back of the HHS Mandate ...

. . . and the reversal of the insane Title IX policy on campus . . . and an exit from the Paris Accords . . . and the avoidance of whatever Hillary would have wrought.

...

Trump has governed so far as more of a Republican and conservative than I expected. Outside a brief flirtation with Chuck and Nancy and some unserious talks with Democrats over the tax bill, he’s had no interest in working with Democrats (in fact, has spent time insulting them). Remember: One of Bush's big first-year accomplishments was partnering with Teddy Kennedy on wholly ill-considered federal education legislation, No Child Left Behind. There has been nothing like that during Trump's first year.

And coming soon: But opening ANWR to oil exploration.

NeverTrumpers seem to care less about the conservative movement's health than their status in the pecking order within the conservative movement. Just as liberals shrieked about their own loss of status post-9/11, liberal-ish Upper Middle Class country club Republicans are howling and shredding their garments over their own dimunition of status and influence post 11/9.

63 I'd like to add #butnetneutrality to the list. It's hard to find any factual info on the whole net neutrality debate, because the libtards supporting it have filled the internet with false information. Ajit Pai was an Obama appointee before Trump promoted him, yet now he's a demon in the eyes of liberals. Why is Net Neutrality so important to them? I haven't seen a single case where Net Neutrality is needed or would make a difference. Yet. Will it be needed in the future? Hard to say, but we've functioned for 20 years without it. That being said, I think the fact that they're so fired up about it without any examples of why it's so important tells me that there's something else to it that we're not currently aware of. The power players of the left have determined it's very important, and they're telling their minions to make a lot of noise in an attempt to save it. My guess is it's an important piece in a future they're trying to build. Exactly what it is, I don't know, but I'm guessing it has to do with control of information.

Yes, this is a big reservation and the reason why I'm not more enthusiastic about his first year. 115 Trump needs to start the #ButEducation hashtag.

It is essential to the national security of the United States that it's citizens have a basic education, including the ability to read and write along with simple math.

60+ years of liberal education policies in the inner cities have produced results of 10% to 20% minimally educated children exiting public schools.

Trump needs to send in the military to bulldoze all public schools and administration buildings in the worst performing cities. Sign an executive directive outlawing any local or state governmental agency trying to provide any educational services and eliminate any regulations, guidelines or licensing in the education profession in these areas.

Trump should then sign another executive order to require the state and local authorities to divide the total amount it previously spent on public education by the number of 5 through 18 year old children in the area and distribute this money each year based on each child passing a standardized test.

Nothing the democrats have touched has been such a complete failure as education. Trump could own this and insure democrats never see an inner city vote again.

The people chose wisely. And the DNC and GOP didn't exactly help themselves as institutions in endearing themselves to the voters. Ironically, Trump was the independent choice. 218 63 I'd like to add #butnetneutrality to the list.

The Left wants POWER and CONTROL, and the Internet, 1969-2015 terrifies them to no end. A lot of my friends are shrieking hysterically about the end of Net Neutrality and the fastest way to piss them off is to ask "What's wrong with going back to the way things were? The Internet worked then, didn't it?" Cue screams, tantrums, and running around shrieking "THE SKY IS FALLING!!!"

Trump had an interesting moment at the Al Smith dinner the night after the 3rd debate. Before he got down to the jokes he put everyone there to shame by telling them how he's known them for decades, they've asked him for assistance (donations, etc.), they've welcomed him into their homes and families, only to stab him in the back the moment he announced his run for the GOP nomination. Some here have noted how Trump likes to get revenge. I think we're seeing it now, and for the next 3-7 more years, as people like Schumer, whom he's known for many years, attempt to play him like a RINO Bush. They will not be pleased when he's not a doormat.

226 CG, the report today was that the worst of the winds will be on Thursday night. IIRC a couple years ago a fire went to the Pacific near Faria beach. Looks like that is what is going to happen again. The sky and sunlight is deep orange here.

I watched KSBY morning news, they said strong winds through Wednesday. I'm not surprised they're wrong.
I'm in the Santa Ynez Valley, it wasn't that windy here yesterday but I wasn't outside last night because it was cold. It's a little breezy.

Whenever it's dry and windy I'm suspicious of firebugs.

That's basically what capitalism is. Except its "Make it econommically profitable for the wrong people to do the right thing."

Capitalism is a system by which greed is harnessed to the widest benefit for the most people. Its the best we can hope for with sinful people in a fallen world.

I was thrilled with that and I'm an actual conservationist.

Precisely, I am as well. I love the outdoors, I'd live in the wilderness if possible, I find even the most open and empty places to be beautiful and wonderful.

But seriously, the federal government owns enough of the west, and these "monuments" were simply created to block any and all mining, ranching, petroleum resources from being taken advantage of -- or at least only with sufficient bribes and connections.

They were not to protect anything important, it was just a land grab to screw over sectors the Obama administration considered bad people.

As if the feds don't already own 68% of our state, they go and shut down our resource development entirely.

Correct. The most important part of being a conservative, the key component without which you have nothing, is opposition to far leftist progressive global redistributive collectivism.

I'll use that since "communism" has fallen out of fashion. It was much shorter to type.

321 How is the wrong person going to do the right thing unless he or she is forced to do so?

Well for example, if you have a scumbag like John McCain, you make it so him supporting the right things and voting the right way benefits him politically. So by doing what is right, he has a better chance of being elected and pushing his pet projects along.

Its using the system to encourage people to do the right thing, even if they are doing it for the wrong reasons or are bad people.

Like I said, capitalism is the same sort of concept. Greedy scumbag business owners are pressured to treat their employees and customers better by the system because they tend to lose workers and buyers if they abuse it. They're bad people, but they are pressured to do the right thing anyway.

346 186 178 173 I'm probably late to the party, but Hyde from That 70's Show is the latest exposed by Gropemaggeddon.
Posted by: What's a Seawolf? at December 05, 2017 03:37 PM (72PAC)

It's quite a bit more serious than that. Four women are accusing him of rape.
Posted by: Ace's liver at December 05, 2017 03:39 PM (+azJs)

Damn, really? Wonder if it goes back as far the show.
Posted by: What's a Seawolf? at December 05, 2017 03:40 PM (72PAC)

Gropageddon goes all the way back to the 70's. Ask Roy Moore.

347 Alright, but apart from the sanitation, the medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, the fresh water system, and public health, what have the Romans ever done for us?

348 A lot of my friends are shrieking hysterically about
the end of Net Neutrality and the fastest way to piss them off is to
ask "What's wrong with going back to the way things were? The Internet
worked then, didn't it?" Cue screams, tantrums, and running around
shrieking "THE SKY IS FALLING!!!"

The whole Net Neutrality debate began because Comcast was about to implement a plan that cut off access to certain sites unless customers paid them more. That will happen without it and most people will have no alternative provider to choose from. This is not a partisan issue.

349 345 I was a never Trumper until the media pissed him off so much that it forced him to govern as a conservative just to spite them. I'm man enough to admit he's done a good job, despite the fact that it's not due to his own good character but rather the insane meltdown of the left making leftist views too toxic for a sane person to stomach.

Oh please. So much rationalization. You don't have a clue. Trump is governing the way he promised to govern. Period.

You just need some excuse to explain why you were wrong.

350 "NeverTrumpers seem to care less about the conservative movement's health than their status in the pecking order within the conservative movement."

Exactly. And on top of that, THEY HAVE NOT DELIVERED. They mouth all kinds of B.S., then tut tut away our concerns over the lack of progress toward those goals. At some point , to be a leader, you actually have to do something that proves your worth to lead, other than publish trump hit pieces and go on wine cruises.

The thing about Trump is he takes the battle to the enemy. He manages to back foot these guys, over and over. You may not like his style. He doesn't follow Marques of Queensberry rules, but what the fuck, he punches back, hard. Not only that, he chasing them around the ring, raining blows on their fool heads. It ain't fair, it ain't pretty, he hits below the belt, hell, let's be honest, he occasionally takes a swing at the refs. But he is windmilling into these guys, and finally making some progress.

He's also embarrassing them because - he is uncouth, unsophisticated, breaking all the fake and phony rules they set up. he's also showing that those rules exist for just one purpose - to keep them in power, and prevent problems getting solved.

351 I liked what Andrew Klavan (a then recent, and still qualified) supporter of Trump, said to Goldberg, when Jonah asked, "OK, Gorsuch. What else?" Klavan replied "Isn't that enough."

Face it, if Hillary had won, Garland would've been the best case. We'd probably have gotten Huma.

352 One guy's name keeps coming to me whenever Flynn or his son once again shift allegiances: Alcibiades!

Can't quite recollect how that all turned out. Surely some one of the horde can help me out here.

The Gamers and Netflicks love taking up 80% of you bandwidth and you have to cover for their greed, while you only use 1%.

That and all that streaming slows down your connection.

354 The GOP establishment made a bet against Trump, and they lost. There is a price to be paid for that, but they're trying to skip the check.

356 We also have Trump's economy. Four years of Hillary after Obama's Malaise would've had a whole generation concrete in the belief that America was no longer a 1st world country.

Nor am I partisan. But simply put, if you are pro-Net Neutrality, you hate freedom and do not trust the market. The Net worked PERFECTLY fine before 2015.

360 Trump is the most conservative president in my lifetime, and my lifetime includes Reagan.

Yeah. I said it.
