2 Good Morning Morons today is Saturday, December 2, 2017. On this day in 1862 in the State of the Union Address President Abraham Lincoln reaffirmed the necessity of ending slavery as ordered ten weeks earlier in the Emancipation Proclamation, which only included the Southern States which he had no control over.

There was a post, maybe several weeks ago where Ace asked the question: If Moore is going to lose (as may happen) due to these allegations, is there anything we can do to salvage the seat.

I did not read it as Ace throwing Moore under the bus, per se, but more trying to figure out how to get out of the corner if Moore was taken down by these allegations. I he offered a couple ideas:

Moore wins, but is not seated, can a different candidate be named by the governor.

A mass, coordinated write in.

This is all from (admittedly slightly buzzing memory) so take it all for what it is worth. Regardless, the allegations started to smell about 2 seconds out of the fishwrap, then the whole Hollywood crap dropped and I do not think Ace pursued the matter since.

SC still has a law on the books that makes back pockets on jeans or trousers illegal. It had to do with the late 19th century state monopoly on alcohol sales.

Government restriction on alcohol are generally unsuccessful in areas with Scots Irish.

Andy gave an interview a few years before he died, and he said Frances had called him, said she felt bad about how difficult she had been on set, and wanted to apologize to him. Turns out he had tons of porn on his company laptop along with emails back and forth to some not particularly high end hooker. Since this dirtbag was an IT manager he was borderline retarded to think that the security people wouldn't know every fucking bit about it. I'm sure they didn't pay him a goddamn thing as severance knowing full fucking well he hid this behavior from his wife and kids and wouldn't blow the whistle on himself.

196 A real, honest-to-goodness bout of influenza is a very debilitating illness, going a full week in bed, to maybe two weeks. And can relapse. This is not to be confused with getting a "flu bug" that puts you out of commission for a couple days - that is just a short-lived virus. To know if you have influenza, a nasal swab can be done and looked at under the microscope. But I digress!

The good thing about actually getting influenza is that you get real, honest antibodies against flu, and will probably never have the flu again decades, maybe even the rest of your life.

I had that sort of flu when I was about 20. Missed a full two+ weeks of work (including a botched attempt to return to work and a relapse). I'm now 63 and have never had it again. Never a flu shot, never will take one.

So, don't be too hasty getting jabbed next year!

Posted by: Skip at December 02, 2017 06:23 AM (aC6Sd)

I do wonder when we Pennsylvanians can stop paying for the Johnstown Flood?

For the 'rons not from PA, the Pennsylvania General Assembly passed an emergency temporary 10% alcohol tax, intended to help with clean up, recovery, and to assist flood victims. In 1963 it was raised to 15% and in 1968 it was raised to 18%.

It gets better, the Johnstown Flood tax is added to the base price of liquor, and then the state sales tax is applied.

That's right PA taxes a tax, and the lousy PA Liquor Control Board union workers have fought both repeal of the tax as well as privatization of liquor sales in PA every step of the way which is why we go to NJ and DE to purchase liquor.

261 >>>>>A real, honest-to-goodness bout of influenza is a very debilitating
illness, going a full week in bed, to maybe two weeks. And can relapse.
This is not to be confused with getting a "flu bug" that puts you out
of commission for a couple days - that is just a short-lived virus. To
know if you have influenza, a nasal swab can be done and looked at under
the microscope. But I digress!

The good thing about actually getting influenza is that you get
real, honest antibodies against flu, and will probably never have the
flu again decades, maybe even the rest of your life.

I had that sort of flu when I was about 20. Missed a full two+
weeks of work (including a botched attempt to return to work and a
relapse). I'm now 63 and have never had it again. Never a flu shot,
never will take one.

So, don't be too hasty getting jabbed next year!
.
.
.Same here had the actual *flu* once 15 years ago and thought I was going to die. Couldn't breath right for weeks and couldn't sleep more than 15-20 minutes at a time before I got a coughing fit, never got sick again after that bout.

On the plus side, I couldn't breath good for so long I quit smoking at the same time. Three weeks without a cigarette seemed to be my turning point and haven't had one since.

Also have read some city public schools provide food during the summer (via food truck, etc.).

First, why should those families get food stamps? Redundant.
Second, what is the minimum requirement for being capable of caring for your kid(s)? There are food stamps, food banks and food pantries for those who have fallen on hard times, but now a parent isn't even required to do the shopping an preparation for breakfast, lunch and dinner - and in some cases, year-round? Talk about creating dependence; it's insanity, not caring.

Just my two cents here for what it is worth...
My church as well as some other churches in my area do a backpack program, where non-perishable food is delivered and sent home each Friday for that child. It is hard to believe, but there are hungry children out there. Just because the parents (some worthless ones) get assistance, it doesn't mean they feed their children with it.
