The Morning Report 11/28/17

journalism.jpg

Good morning kids. Let's dive right in, shall we? In the lead is James O'Keefe's Project Veritas was conducting a sting against the National Laughingstock (aka Washington Post) and evidently got caught by the target. Veritas was baiting them with a woman posing as a victim of Roy Moore; to make it juicier, she claimed to have had his love child when she was a teenager back in the 70s.

The takeaway here is not that getting caught by your mark, in this case the Post, does not discount the underlying objective of the sting - to prove that that organization is nothing more than a propaganda rag and house organ of, by and for the Left. Project Veritas are the real journalists; their record since coming to the fore during the Obama reign of error speaks for itself.

Moving along, Al Franken held a joke of a presser - that is to anyone with a moral compass. Of course he won't step down and neither will John Conyers, although with regard to the latter, Nancy Pelosi is going all wobbly on her staunch defense of the octogenarian Marxist pervert. So far, the only voice on their side of the aisle blasting all of this is one lone Congresswoman from, of all places, Long Island, who has called for Franken's head and blasted Pelosi in the bargain.

In a related development, yesterday we heard rumblings that Al Green (the idiot congressman, not the iconic soul singer) may be the next to get hit with accusations but now, Raul "tarantula-face" Grijalva reportedly paid hush money from yet another slush fund to silence one of his victims.

And could this be related? The execrable Luis Gutierrez, the FALN terrorist supporting congress-fiend from Chicago who has been the face of the illegal alien invasion for several decades has decided "no mas" to another term. Hmm. Overjoyed never to see him again but that is tempered by the knowledge that there are dozens if not hundreds like him ready to take his place.

Moving right along, on Rush's show yesterday he came right out and proclaimed Komrade Kolonel Sanders as the Democrat nominee for 2020. Maybe he's trolling the Democrats with that one, but in any case, there is a real civil war in that party between the left hand and the far left hand.

The Insurrectionists are making a stand at the CFPB by both suing the President and insisting that Richard Cordray's assistant commissar and Obama flunky takes his place. In a sane world, the CFPB would not even exist, but in a sane world, they have absolutely zero case; the President has clear, unmistakable authority to choose who heads that agency. Judging from the state of the judiciary, that situation remains alarmingly fluid. It would be a huge torpedo hit to the vitals of the enemy to take that thing down from within.

And speaking of a corrupt judiciary, SCOTUS has refused to take a crucial 2nd amendment case and so an automatic weapons ban is the law of the land. Feh.

Anyway, links from around the world, across the nation and up your street. Have a better one and remain blessed.

For example, he was a socialist, then became a Democrat to run. After he lost, he dropped out of the Democrat Party again.

Maybe he was right all along, but the powers that be wanted to get rid of him. He didn't go along to get along. What I'm saying is, maybe the law was on Moore's side but the Feds didn't and don't give a crap about the law. Their agenda has to be pushed, the law be damn.

Reason - there are still quite a few GOP-e voters in Alabama (Luther Strange supporters) who have never liked Moore. They were probably going to cross over and vote for Jones.

The crossovers now have another option - they can write in Colonel Clown, rather than vote for Jones. But the people who were going to vote for Moore even after all of this crap are still going to vote for him. So, I think he takes more votes away from Jones than he does from Moore.

167 Sanders as unknown: Barky was the same way. In my circle of leftist friends, they had no idea who he was. In fact it was I who brought him up. I explained who he was, his past associations with the Ayers and other unsavory characters - Frank Davis, et al. Six months or a year later they were all fully on board as if they were showing off a shiny penny.

They are not amenable to facts, logic, or reason. It's a kind of cult, because politics is their deity, their raison d^ere'. Spooky, and unnerving. I've long since given up trying to explain, and takes great willpower to never "I told you so.".

Yep. Plus my first visit to BWW found the servers "having a contest" to see how many customers they could get to sign up for their website and "can't you guys PLEEEASE help me win" while doing the bosom-exposing lean over the table. "Signing up for their website" consisted of giving the server your name, phone # and e-mail address.

Attempts to demur from this unwanted invasion of privacy were met with ever more fervent displays of pleas and cleavage until, having exhausted our visceral enjoyment of the cleavage aspect, we had to complain to the manager and ask if we could PLEEEASE be left alone to dine in peace. We did not expose our cleavage.

The second time we were brought the wrong orders after an interminable wait. The correct (but extremely mediocre) order arrived after another interminable wait. But the fun wasn't over as we were billed for all of the food and actually had to get in a screaming match with the manager to get the wrong order removed from our bill.

BWW sucks Satan's balls.

The obnoxiously loud music is a trick that restaurants use at peak hours to try to turn tables over faster. They turn the volume up slowly so people don't notice it changing, but eventually they reach the point where it moves from the background to the foreground, and make it unpleasant enough that people don't want to stick around and hang out.

I think it's the shape of his top lip and the way his cheeks/dimples form a clownish visage. I suspect he also licks the windows on the Senatorial short shuttle bus.

299 Trump holds all the cards in the CFPB thing, despite anything Lieawatha or the Minority Leader has to say. There's *already* precedent, having to do with the NLRB, that says when two statutes are in conflict like this regarding acting appointments, the President can use the provisions of whichever law he wants. That's probably why the CFPB in house counsel itself agreed with Trump and the OLC.

Which is probably why English spent her time yesterday suing and gaming the political maneuvers with Fauxcahontas and Schumer instead of running the Bureau like she was actually in charge.

This is now pure power politics. If the Democrats are successful, look to see more of this type of deep state sabotage everywhere.

The CFPB was never intended to be brought under (R) control, but to be a powerful Democrat shadow government and/or whip hand, able to frustrate Republican economic goals, enforce Democrat ones, promote campaign contributions to Democrats, and be an independent source of taxpayer funded sinecures for Democrat politicians and staffers.

74 You will note that automobile racing predates Major League Games-of-Ball, most collegiate football, and the Modern Olympics. It is the one naturally international sport.

Not so fast on that claim. The oldest professional baseball game occurred on 4 May, 1869 (Wiki says older but I don't trust Wiki as anyone can edit articles). The Cincinnati Red Stockings (precursors to my Cincinnati Reds led by Harry and George Wright (no, not those Wright brothers), played baseball's first pro game on May 4, 1869, against the amateur Great Westerns of Cincinnati - a game the Red Stockings won, 45-9. The team then kicked off pro ball's first road trip, touring the country for 57 games that year and winning every single one.

I've been wondering what it is about Al Franken's facial appearance that
makes him look, well frankly, dumb. I think it's the shape of his top
lip and the way his cheeks/dimples form a clownish visage. Plus it
looks like his philtrum (between the bottom of the nose and the upper
lip) is rather long for his face. The lower lip drops down so he looks
like a mouth breather. I suspect he also licks the windows on the

Not that any of those things are a disqualifier for being in the Senate.

361 "Eh. A lot of these micro pubs operate out of converted former factories & warehouses in "gentrified" parts of town."

Having known someone who's opened one, I can applaud them for having effectively marketed necessity and made it look trendy.

The reason a business like that moves into an old industrial space is that a) the property is very cheap, because its probably been through a bankruptcy, and b) it is already zoned to allow you to do anything you want, in most cities, and c) if its in an industrial area of town, there probably aren't many churches or schools nearby, which can run afoul of the local regs of many cities for establishments serving alcohol.

And when the building is just steel and concrete, rehabbing the building is much, much easier. All of this means that it is one of the easiest spaces for an ambitious crew without a whole lot of capital to take over and reuse. The genius part is getting people to think that setting up your business as cheaply as possible in a bad part of town is "trendy". And that's how you make beaucoup bucks.

POLICE BLOTTER

Blue Line Station, 3:40 P.M. A man was apprehended as he accosted a woman standing on the platform. The man was heard to yell the name "Winona" at the woman as he grabbed her dress and said that his name was "Fleagle." The man resisted arrest as he yelled at Transportation Security officers that they were all "Moore supporters and Winona haters." The man, who handed officers a dish of banana splits when asked for his identification, has been remanded to the county mental health facility for evaluation and tick bath.

390 good morning folks ... sunny and already 57 here ...

Trump knew he would get flak for the Pocahonatas comment, but he gets flak no matter what. So this way he gives them a target that can actually do more damage to them than it does to him.

The left is vulnerable on their identity politics games, especially since they are the ones with the fakes. Fakes like Conyer on women's rights, fakes like Warren lying about her heritage (and why did Harvard never even check? did the want it so bad they didn't care if it was fake, could find a competent real American Indian?)

every time the media mentions his use of Pocahontas, more of the public becomes aware of what a fraud Warren is. and of what a fraud the MFM is for covering up the real story.

401 I also know apartment owners, some big, some small time. A lot are going to stained/epoxied concrete and/or ceramic tiles, and the tenants can put in their own area rug if they want a softer surface. The economics of it are - with any carpet, you can count on it being destroyed by your average tenants within 5 years. (bad ones will destroy it in a year or two) A basic 2 br apartment costs $2,000 to re-carpet. If you go with a floor covering of stained concrete or the large ceramic tiles, you are looking at a one-time cost of about $5k, and it lasts for the life of the property. If you go with carpet, and you think you have a useful property life of 30 years, you're looking at $10,000 - $12,000 in lifetime costs, just for your floor coverings.

I know someone who runs a 260 unit property. For him, that's a property lifetime profit differential of $1.8 million, just on choice of floor coverings alone.

421 There is this quote from the Roger Simon written movie "The Big Fix" which states concisely the problem that the 60s left had as the 70s started.

"Eppis: "Do you know why being a revolutionary doesn't work in this country? Being a revolutionary in America is like being a spoil sport at an orgy. All these goodies being passed around and you feel like a shit when you say no." "

This was the problem Community Organizing solved, money, money for the activists. First was money from gotten from foundations by claiming they were going to do "good works." Then came the extortion of businesses and local governments.

The Clinton presidency started the ball rolling to get money freely flowing from the Federal Treasury. Obama enlarged that tremendously. This is what Trump must take down. The money flows must stop. That is a main front in this war.

That's basically what the Shogunate was in medieval Japan. The Emperor still was allowed to act like he ruled the country, and got his way on minor things that the Shogun didn't care about, but on any important issues (ie - military) nothing happened unless the Shogun approved it. The military forces only took orders from him.

So, guess who actually runs the country in a system like that.

Previously, the WaPo went with "We found four women willing to go on record on what a skeevy person Moore is." and it was working pretty well. What holes y'all have found in the stories hasn't been terribly dispositive, IMHO. The WaPo already had fairly solid reporting on this story, compared to their usual political hits full of anonymous sources and dial-an-expert opinions. This only slightly reinforces the line that the WaPo actually committed journalism for a change.

If O'Keefe has more up his sleeve, great. We'll find out. But frankly, his associate being discovered doesn't change the underlying Moore story much at all.

Posted by: Jack Fisher at November 28, 2017 11:00 AM (D17oQ)

434 The refusal of the USSC to take these cases, particularly the "assault" rifle bans, is extremely concerning to those of us who reside in states like California. I foresee a complete ban on semiautomatic centerfire rifles coming right up. The legislature passed such a ban in 2013 but Gov. Brown vetoed it. He is termed out next year, and I have no doubt a new governor would sign it in a heartbeat.

Posted by: Guns Gardens and Yarn at November 28, 2017 11:01 AM (znV6x)

435 The semi-auto weapons ban(s) is only law in those parts of the land that happen to be in the districts where the circuit courts upheld such bans. I expect the SCOTUS to take the case after a couple of the sh!theads on the court die or retire, and are replaced.
