Black Friday ONT

Happy Black Friday! I hope all of you are rested from the feasting yesterday. I have a lot of links left over because I pretty much limited last night's ONT to Thanksgiving related stuff, so let's dive right in. We open with the eternal question: Is Die Hard a Christmas movie?

Die Hard.jpg

Millennials

Seems those feisty Millennials are inventin' again. This week, they invented water fountains.

Instead of That $5 Water Bottle at Airports, Filling Stations

Special bonus invention: Vending machines!

Vending.jpg

I can't wait until one of them reads about the old automats from the depression era. We'll be bombarded right and left with their brilliant new idea for a “self-service restaurant”! rolleyes1.gif

Wacky Wavy Arms!

For those of you that like these things, here's an entire video of them:

I like the Hillary one at around 9 minutes.

Twitter News

Twitter may be getting ready to purge conservatives from their site on December 18th. At least that's the theory this guy lays out here. They are going to start tracking the websites that users visit via the embedded Twitter button on such sites. Go to the wrong site and BLAMMO! You're gone. Seems to me this would be easy enough to beat, just use a dedicated browser only for Twitter. Still, as (if?) the reigns of power slip further out of Proggy hands, we can expect more of this type of attempt at control.

Minor Violations Lead to Massive Prosecution Fees in Two California Desert Towns

Seems a couple of towns hooked up with a couple of law firms to create quite a racket. People who get fined for minor violations also get huge bills from the law firms for the cost of prosecuting them. And THIS, ladies and gentlemen, this RIGHT HERE, is the problem with government. Government has a monopoly on the legal use of force, and if it is not tightly monitored by a vigilant citizenry, then powerful groups will always start to manipulate it for their own benefit. ALWAYS.

Why I Hate Canada

I vacationed in the Northwest Territories this past summer, and I don't think a day went by without my being tackled by a random naked guy.

Problematic

Blackfriars Priory School principal explains how awkward covered statue was bungled

Blackfriars Priory School in Australia commissioned a statue of St Martin de Porres feeding loaves of bread to poor children. Certainly a noble act, a fine example for the students of the school. Except...

Timing

The Weather Channel sent a camera crew to record the implosion of the old Georgia Dome. They arrived early, and took their time to find just the right angle for the event. Everything was perfect, and as the countdown commenced, they went live to the video feed:

Thank You, President Trump

National Review, of all places, published this article.

This Thanksgiving, Thank Donald J. Trump

• The Dow Jones Industrial Average, NASDAQ, and S&P 500 all hit record highs on Tuesday. The Wilshire 5000 Index calculates that some $3.4 trillion in new wealth has been created since President Trump’s inauguration and $5.4 trillion since his election. Fueled by the reality of deregulation, expectations of lower taxes, and a new tone in Washington that applauds free enterprise rather than excoriate it, the economy is on fire.

• Atop the second quarter’s 3.1 percent increase in real GDP, and 3.0 in 3Q, the New York Federal Reserve Bank predicts that 4Q output will expand by 3.8 percent. This far outpaces the feeble average-annual GDP growth rate of 1.5 percent on President Obama’s watch. Meanwhile, the IMF expects global GDP to rise by 3.5 percent this year. So much for a Trump-inspired “global recession.”

• Unemployment is at 4.1 percent, a 17-year low. New unemployment claims in September were at their most modest since 1974. Goldman Sachs on November 20 “lowered our unemployment rate forecast to 3.7 percent by end-2018 and 3.5 percent by end-2019.” According to the Wall Street powerhouse’s chief economist Jan Hatzius, “Such a scenario would take the U.S. labor market into territory almost never seen outside of a major wartime mobilization.”

• American companies have been expanding operations here rather than shipping jobs overseas. Corning, for instance, announced a $500 million investment in new U.S. production, launching 1,000 positions.

Sure to be Controversial

Michael Vick reimburses creditors in rare debt payback

I understand the wrath directed at Michael Vick for the despicable things he did to his dogs, and I share it. I also understand that everyone claims to have “changed” after they get caught doing wrong. I also realize that most don't change, but some do. The way they act gives you a clue as to whether their contrition was genuine or not. Taking the very unusual route of paying back creditors at $.99 on the dollar because of a personal belief that it's wrong to stiff people doesn't change what happened to those dogs, but it is the act of someone with a personal sense of honor. In this at least, kudos to Vick.

Alberta Oil Peon's Kids

I don't know if AOP has kids, but if he does, this is how I imagine them spending the weekend. It almost worked too, all they needed was a tensioner for the chain (and probably a hand throttle).

You Will Never Be This Woke

Woke.jpg

And a good thing too. Also, The easily offended are offended...again. After 30 years, someone finally noticed that Apu from The Simpsons could be considered a stereotype, unlike every other character on the show. Thank goodness for that.

Not true! Not in the good old USA, anyway. We, the citizenry, have the right of self-defense, citizen's arrest, and the right to form militias.

We are a country of citizens, not serfs. This governmental monopoly of legal force theory sounds like left wing propaganda when you really examine it.

A citizen's arrest is a legal use of force. Self-defense is a legal use of force. Using force to defend another is a legal use of force. These are all LEGAL. Further more, they are all CONSTITUTIONAL, the highest law in the land.

It is the ideology of the left that we must depend on the government for the protection of ourselves and our communities. THIS IS FALSE. A citizen placing a criminal under arrest is LEGAL.

Of course, in other countries such as the UK, it is illegal to use force to defend yourself and your property. That is simply NOT the case in the USA. It is LEGAL to use force to defend life and property.

I'm am surprised you believe otherwise.

105 Anon Y. Mous, no, govt does have a monopoly on the LEGAL use of force. The 2nd gives the us the ABILITY to employ force if necessary, but while it may be RIGHT to use force against govt if it ever comes to that, such an act would never be LEGAL.

Posted by: Weirddave at November 24, 2017 09:28 PM (Nyyc4)

I disagree, WD. The second gives you the right to defend yourself- whether that be against another citizen or non-citizen, or against the government, if necessary. Such action is therefore legal.

The legal question is whether what you did constituted 'defense'.

The founders were worried about tyranny ('They saw tyranny coming in through the windows', as a college professor said.) The second is the last line of that defense and possibly the most important part of the constitution, for if it has be be invoked by the people against the government, then all the other prohibitions and limitations listed in the document have already been violated.

147 State Makes It Legal to Shoot Cops in Self-Defense If They Violate Your Rights
Is it ever legal to shoot cops? A growing number of states are passing laws that say that yes, in fact, sometimes it is well within a citizen's rights to shoot a police officer.

Other states have already ruled in favor of citizens shooting police officers in self-defense, (even hip-hop legend Tupac walked after shooting two cops in self-defense) now, in the state of Indiana, if a police officer initiates aggression without cause in someone's home, violence can be used against them in self-defense - including using lethal force.

The new law was drafted to "recognize the unique character of a citizen's home and to ensure that a citizen feels secure in his or her own home against unlawful intrusion by another individual or a public servant."

http://theantimedia.org/state-makes-it-legal-to-
shoot-cops-in-self-defense-if-they-violate-your-rights/

Of course, the problem with going toe to toe against the state and it's armed agents, is they can bring a lot more firepower to the fight. You may end up being vindicated, but it may be your estate that collects the penalty against the state for them killing you.

178 The chainsaw skateboard? They did it wrong. Motorized skateboard exist. Typically they use weed whacker engines. You can buy them ready-made.

They used bicycle chain, for one, which is really not suitable for motorized machines. Second, they have nowhere near enough gear reduction in their drive train, maybe 3:1. Something closer to 20:1 would be better.

If I were building it, I'd first remove the clutch drum from the saw, and mill down the saw chain sprocket to a shoulder that would accept a 1" or 1.25" weld-on #35 sprocket, and weld that on there. Then I would build a short jackshaft, with a 6" sprocket on one end, and another 1" sprocket on the other. Put an 8" sprocket on the wheel. Short primary chain from saw motor to 6" sprocket on jackshaft, longer chain from 1" sprocket on jackshaft to drive wheel. (Basically the same drive scheme as that little minibike the guy rode briefly.)

Guarantee you that if it were built as described, it would work.

No, I have no kids.

There was a thread several days ago - morningish - when Country Boy had his blood up, another commenter and CBD politely said words to the effect that Country Boy was resorting to ad hominem rather than criticizing someone on the merits, and Country Boy's last words were to the effect that he did no care what ad hominem meant (but more colorful). I can't be sure that's what did it though.

It is not some little tiny exception to the law. It is available to every citizen in the USA, and goes back to the common law era. The use of force is also permitted.

I encourage you to familiarize yourself with the concept. It is simply false to say that only the government is allowed to legally use force. Citizens are allowed to use force to enforce the law.

What President Trump has set in motion is a battle with that fake Indian Senator whose baby the CFPB is. The head of the agency said he'd resign at the end of the month, Then over Thanksgiving appoints his Chief of staff as deputy director who will automatically be acting director then he resigned early. Trump has designated OMB head Mulvaney as acting director. This sets up two acting directors.

I'd think the sneaky way the previous head did this would undermine his choice but who knows. The whole CFPB needs to be shutdown as it is just a payoff from Fauxohantas to the biggest of big banks.

261 My disgust with the NFL pretty much began when Michael Vick got caught about the dog fighting. Several linemen defended Vick with words to the effect: "Why are people upset? They were his dogs." They were actually puzzled. They never considered that people might find the brutal death of animals for profit and amusement despicable. At that point I realized how stupid and worthless these overindulged cretins are. The NFL has been shooting itself in the foot ever since. Super Bowl 50 was the last straw and the last game I watched.

My only regret is that by the time of the take a knee BS, I had already washed the sport out of my life.

Not pissed off, but that wasn't what I said. I'm a 2A purist, and I will argue that there are situations where taking up arms against a tyrannical govt is necessary, just, right or correct. But govt is the body that is tasked with making laws, and unless it passes a "mandatory revolution" act (a most unlikely event), then using force against it (and its laws) is never a LEGAL act.

OTOH, govt is specifically empowered to use force to ensure compliance with those laws, and so it has a monopoly on the legal use of force.

289 Went to discuss repairs to my guitar today at a small shop and was treated to a song done by a guy, upper 70s, who wrote a lot of stuff for the Flying Burritos in the 70s.

He'd had a stroke and played pretty basic chord shapes, but he could sure sing. Was accompanied by a younger guy with a rythym shaker and a great voice.

After, I overheard them all talking about Nashville, the Bluebird, Broad Street, the Ryman, all the haunts.

Tried out a mint-condition Gibson Hummingbird Pro and was impressed. Hooked it up to an amp and tried to pretend I was Robbie Robertson with that great intro to "The Weight."

People process grief at their own speed. Some folks do seem to get stuck and just have problems accepting that their life is moving on, whether they like it or not. At some point, it's unhealthy to stay stuck. She may just need more time.

Posted by: Weirddave at November 24, 2017 10:55 PM (Nyyc4)

++++

It is demonstrable that the citizen is not an agent of the government. He would not be operating under the direction of the government. The difference can be easily seen by looking at a search conducted by a private citizen. If the citizen conferred with the cops ahead of time and then went a carried out the search according to their directions, then that private citizen is considered to have been acting as an agent of the government, and the rules of evidence that apply to the cops would also apply to him. Like if there was no warrant, the evidence gets thrown out.

But, if the citizen operates under his own initiative and then turns over what he finds to the cops, like a landlord searching the property of his tenant and finding drugs, the landlord is not considered an agent of the state, and the evidence is not thrown out.

If I see someone assaulting someone on the street, and I, along with anyone else who happens to be around, stop the assault and then detain the criminal until the cops arrive, I am not acting as an agent of the state. I would be operating on my own initiative. I would also be liable for anything I did that was wrong. Like excessive use of force, or false arrest if I somehow grabbed the wrong person.

They government works for the citizens, not the other way around. Upholding the law of the community does not make me an agent of the government. It makes me part of the community.

302 AHL -- I remember stopping at my oldest grandson's other grandmother's house to pick him up for lunch and a movie. The other grandmother was flying around the house, cleaning like a maniac, tears pouring down her cheeks I asked her what was wrong, and she just exploded. It was her and her late husband's fortieth anniversary and they were supposed to be in Ireland, but that damn Wayne had up and died on her. She was so damn mad at him, she could have killed him on the spot.

Grief is a strange critter. Some people just seem to pick up the pieces sooner than others. I've been fortunate enough not to have to deal with the loss of my husband, but I'm old enough that several of my friends have. Some sooner, some later, some much later -- all have eventually picked themselves up, dusted themselves off, and gotten on with life. But, yes, that first year does seem to be the worst because every event is the first.

Federal prosecutors could test the old civil rights laws (deprivation of rights under color of law or whatever) and go after a few New York, Jersey, etc. prosecutors and judges who jailed travelers who passed through with firearms.

Use some judge shopping and find a federal judge that will hold the perps w/o bail pending trial after very lengthy delays.

In the sense of running around like some caped crusader, looking to grab up criminals wherever they may be found, undoubtedly, you would be right.

But, plenty of people have used citizens arrest to deal with the criminals that have attacked them or their property. Also, Richard Ramirez, the Night Stalker serial killer, was arrested by a crowd of citizens in E. LA. They almost beat him to death while detaining him. Nobody was charged with a crime for the manner of that arrest.

344 But, plenty of people have used citizens arrest to deal with the criminals that have attacked them or their property. Also, Richard Ramirez, the Night Stalker serial killer, was arrested by a crowd of citizens in E. LA. They almost beat him to death while detaining him. Nobody was charged with a crime for the manner of that arrest.

You could name any number of movies that were popular in the past 20 years and chances are I haven't seen them. I prefer movies from the 30-50's.

I did go out to the movies this afternoon with the family. I saw "The Man Who invented Christmas" about Charles Dickens writing "A Christmas Carol."
Very well acted and directed and Christopher Plummer plays Scrooge. My only complaint was that Christ was never mentioned and he is in the actual book. It did sort of give the flavor of Dickens' maniacal writing side and that he could be nasty to his wife. What it didn't show-because it's not the subject of the movie- was that he left his wife because she had too many kids and he considered her fat and boring and had a long term affair with another woman. That was covered up for years because he had the reputation of being a wonderful family man.

The story WD linked in regard to the conversation was about 2 small communities contracting out their prosecutions to a private law firm. But, in that circumstance, they are agents of the state.

But, WD made a comment that I have seen him and others make before: that the government has the exclusive right to use force, or that they are the only legitimate users of force, or that only the government may legally use force.

I view that as a misunderstanding of a legitimate government. Not only theoretically, but also just as a factual matter in the USA. Much like we retain citizen juries, representative government, etc, we also have both the 2nd A right to keep and bear arms, the legal right to defend ourselves and our property, and the power of citizens arrest.

This view of government as the only legitimate users of force, to me, is a leftist point of view. But, I know WD is not a leftist, so I try to get him to look at the issue from an alternative point of view.

When I was a child, St. Martin De Porres was not a patron of "social justice," but of charity, specifically of feeding the poor. There were St. Martin clubs at churches and schools that periodically collected pocket change to support food drives.

"Social justice" is in the realm of Power, while charity is in the realm of Love. So they have demoted him, to put it kindly.

371 Fenelon, Die Hard is a satisfying movie in many ways. There is pleny of fighting, explosions and shooting but not much gore, especially compared to slasher films. Many of the characters are enjoyably over the top but don't get in the way of the action and sense of danger. And there are moments of real humor throughout the film. Of course, Alan Rickman does his usual great job of sarcasm, funny lines, and being dangerous. The cussing is pretty constant. And, that's not a matter of hindsight. In spite of huge warnings, politicians and governments just put on blinders and hoped for the best, instead of doing something. The parallels with current circumstances are amazing.

A Roman emperor could put a horse in the Senate as a joke dissing the Senators and everyone got the nasty joke.
If our rulers put a horse in the Senate, they would insist that it was great moral advance in inter-species tolerance. And anyone who failed to accept it would be deemed a hateful bigot. You wouldn't be allowed to laugh.

Likewise Nero could "marry" a boy to flip off Roman society, the same way a middle-school kid could say dirty words to shock his elders. But there are no more dirty words and when our rulers "marry" boys they call it holy. You are not allowed to even question it, much less guffaw.

Government has a monopoly on the legal use of force

I am not making a utopian argument. I am making a reality based one. I have listed multiple real life examples. As a matter of law and practice, the citizens of this country can and do use force to enforce the law. It is LEGAL when a citizen uses force to protect himself or others. It is LEGAL when a citizen uses force to arrest a criminal.

These are not trick statements or debaters points. They are real. How can you be so blind as to what the reality is?

Since a smart phone and a tablet is smarter than the Windows 98 machine I used to have I suspect for a simple internet browsing and email machine a tablet would be the bees-knees, if I could read the screen and I didn't have to use the tiny keyboard with my meat-hook hands.

That statue reminds me of that Everybody Loves Raymond episode where Marie took up sculpture, and made something that looked like a .... giant vulva.

Everybody could see it but her. And Frank, who would stare at it constantly, saying it reminded him of something, but he just couldn't remember.

Much hilarity ensued. They finally had to tell her, whispering it in her ear. When she heard it, she immediately saw it, and exclaimed, "Oh my God, I'm a lesbian!".

428 Why, some people just don't understand Die Hard. It's about a police sergeant, with a pregnant wife, who has a tragic workplace incident that shakes his belief in himself. At the end of the encounter, he finds a way to defend his new-found friends, and re-establishes his role as an officer and a man.

Functionally, yes. Of course I would avoid using anything with the Android OS, because it's part of the googleplex.
I have an old Acer netbook I use for travel. Connects where there is wifi available, runs WinXP. Work perfectly to read and post here, and the screen is adequate, though reading glasses are a must. Also the keyboard is OK, although lacking the numeric keypad. If I had a data plan on the phone, I could tether the netbook to the phone and go that way. As it is, I just plan my Web-surfing for localities where free wifi is provided.

The thing with Glass was the camera. People don't like the thought that they might be recorded, especially in a bar. Which is kind of funny, since everyone has a smart phone and could be recording without too much trouble. I guess it's just the in your face aspect of Glass.

But, going to your invisible example. Once that becomes possible, I wonder how people will react. If you are talking to some invisible device, will they assume you got the invisible camera too?

450 The biggest problem with a citizen's arrest is the personal liability.

Unlike an officer of the law, you have *no* immunities. If a judge decides you fucked up somehow, guess who gets their ass sued off? Or if a jury returns a not guilty verdict, same thing. It might even happen if you *win* your case.

Any cop worth his/her salt will warn off on filing charges under citizen arrest. It seldom works out well for the citizen. And for any charge made (or settled upon; recall that 95% of cases are plea dealed) that is of the misdemeanor variety, the cops cannot act on their own on 'information received', but must witness the crime themselves.

I'm not saying that it is never appropriate, but that it has many legal hazards. And as disclaimer, I ain't no fucking lawyer, so read up on it yourselves.

520 So, you listen to me. Listen to me: Television is not the truth! Television is a God-damned amusement park! Television is a circus, a carnival, a traveling troupe of acrobats, storytellers, dancers, singers, jugglers, side-show freaks, lion tamers, and football players. We're in the boredom-killing business! So if you want the truth... Go to God! Go to your gurus! Go to yourselves! Because that's the only place you're ever going to find any real truth.

You're beginning to believe the illusions we're spinning here, you're beginning to believe that the tube is reality and your own lives are unreal. You do. Why, whatever the tube tells you: you dress like the tube, you eat like the tube, you raise your children like the tube, you even think like the tube. This is mass madness, you maniacs. In God's name, you people are the real thing, WE are the illusion.

Posted by: Deplorable Ian Galt at November 25, 2017 02:38 AM (8iiMU)

534 I am tempted to post the rant here, and ask for your thoughts. If it makes it into the script, it's about 1.75 full pages long, and I hope it's more funny than sad.

The rant belongs to a gym supervisor at a high school, in a wheelchair, telling the kids making the movie in his gym, exactly what he thinks of them. Marc is the young adult director of the movie, and Mick is the teenager heavy who's violent and seemingly always threatening people. Georgia is the young studio assistant who's got a crush on Marc.

...

Screw it. Here it is. Bear in mind, this is barely a first draft, though I did prune it from 3 pages to 1.75.

Not that this is any of your business, but I'm gonna tell you anyway. Marc, Mike, whatever your names are. You've been coming here and making this, I don't know, one week I hear it's a commerical, one week it's a movie. Maybe it's a porn flick. But Marc, you've been pissed I keep making you leave early, and Mick, you've all but threatened to kill me.

Well, there is, believe it or not, a REASON why I have to be leaving early. It isn't because I'm out drinking or doing God knows what. I don't have a girlfriend. I've been leaving early because my Aunt Pearly died. Her name was Pearly Gates, I swear to God that's her real name, and she raised me.

Again it's none of your business, but I was born with something I can't pronounce, and it messed up my spine so bad the doctors didn't think I would live. But I made it to one and then two, and then I got too big to carry around. So Aunt Pearly and her husband saved their money and bought me a wheelchair. My mom wasn't around because she was so devastated about me, she ran away, so I ended up with my aunt. Aunt Pearly wouldn't tell me the whole story, but Mom was dead before I was five.

Now, Aunt Pearly's been wonderful but her health wasn't. She was a chain smoker and finally quit but by that time her heart was bad, so for years she's been in and out of hospitals. I finally got this job working as the gym supervisor and it's great. But I end up spending all this time visiting Aunt Pearly in the hospital, because she's always having another problem. I've gone through tons of them. But wouldn't you know it, and just to inconvenience you all, last week she went in the hospital, and this time she died. She died in that hospital, and I missed it—- I MISSED it!! because I had to babysit you. But I figured you didn't want to hear that, and I can tell by your looks right now you don't, so I never mentioned it. I just made sure it never became your problem.

Then last week her memorial got set up by her sister, and wouldn't you know it, they set it from 2 to 6 last Saturday. So, and I did this because I'm also a good friend of Georgia's, and I care a lot about her, I let you all stay 'til 4. I missed TWO HOURS of Aunt Pearly's service for you, and that got me THIS (points at Mick) giant pile of illegal steroids, asking me why I'm a cripple. I just told you why, but sorry if you can't understand it. Muscleheaded shit stains like you can barely understand anybody with an IQ above a watermelon's.

On top of all that, I see a lot of bullshit. I thought you were making a movie, and that's okay that because I love movies, but I don't see one being made. I see kids dancing. I see a lot of ugly graffiti on the bathroom walls after you leave. I even see some of you smoking funny cigarettes in the quad. I hear a lot of bad music. I don't know but I don't think Stanley Kubrick became a great filmmaker doing the Funky Chicken 6 hours a day.

So now I'm done. I would have done *one* more shoot and even stayed a little late, but no more. Monday morning I'll call Georgia and tell her I love her, but that you all are intolerable, and I've been working at this school for 20 years. None of you know how to behave. You just scream and yell and want more. So I'm done. I'll tell Georgia to find someplace else to make your movie, and that I'll never let any of you into my gym again, ever. That's the truth and I'm glad it's off my chest. I know you hate me, I hate you right back, and that's all.

Like Laureen Hobbs was destroyed. Like everything you and the institution of television touch is destroyed. You're television incarnate, Diana: Indifferent to suffering; insensitive to joy. All of life is reduced to the common rubble of banality. War, murder, death are all the same to you as bottles of beer. And the daily business of life is a corrupt comedy. You even shatter the sensations of time and space into split seconds and instant replays. You're madness, Diana. Virulent madness. And everything you touch dies with you. But not me. Not as long as I can feel pleasure, and pain... and love."

554 Maybe my memory is being selective, but for all of Norman Lear's sins, at least his shows didn't ever contain very many rants or speeches.

Little perfect nuggets of dialogue that would never be uttered in real life in a million years, sure. But nothing too long, from what I can recall.

555 Should I be proud of this? We had Thanksgiving at my daughter and son's new house. The crowd included most of our children, their spouses (spice?), and grandchildren. After our Thanksgiving festivities, which included a lot of eating (of course), drinking, singing, playing darts, telling embarrassing stories, etc., I was the only male that did not have a hangover this morning (experience, or tolerance, I'll let you MDs decide.)

But, they are more likely to remember our day of revelry than I will, if only for the hangovers they were suffering through. And, of course, the women will remember, who were left watchiing the kids and nursing their sick husbands. We all had a good time, though, and will probably do it again at the the next opportunity.

561 My dad was born here in 1920 (he was a lot older than my mom), but his parents moved back to try to save the family farm (what had been built up over many generations), from being collectivized. They failed and only one of his older brothers made it out (back to America) before travel was halted and shortly after the war began.

That was only the start of the craziness, unfortunately and it was a long, hard, dangerous and brutal journey for my dad to get back here. I despise communism and have just been infuriated by the lack of acknowledgment of the Holodomir and Ukraine's history by historians and journalists. Thanks for posting about this book; it looks interesting.

Swansea and AFC Bournemouth offer fans gender-neutral titles

Ahead of the Rainbow Laces campaign that will feature at Premier League stadiums this weekend to support LGBT people within sport, two clubs have become the first to offer their transgender and non-binary supporters a gender-neutral title prefix.

Coinciding with Saturday's designated LGBT fixture between the two teams at the Liberty Stadium, AFC Bournemouth and Swansea City are offering supporters the option of using the "Mx" title, should they not wish to be identified by traditional gender categories.

The "Mx" title, pronounced "Mix" or "Mux", is available for all transgender and intersex people, as well as people who don't identify with one particular gender or don't want to be identified as being male or female.

"The club strives to make all individuals and groups feel welcomed, comfortable and safe," said AFC Bournemouth's general manager Liz Finney.

"We're pleased to have been able to work with Swansea City on realising this goal and making football a more inclusive environment to be enjoyed by everyone."

Swansea City's equality and diversity manager Lucy Norman added: "As a club, we're continually looking at ways to make our services more inclusive.

"Language plays a really important part in delivering this and ensuring that everyone feels welcome - regardless of age, gender or gender identity, sexuality or ethnicity."

The "Mx" title will be rolled out across all major points of service by the two clubs, enabling new and existing customers to opt for their preference.

'Rainbow laces'. Can't get away from that 'make up your own gender' bullshit.
