The Sexual Harassment Apocalypse... Why Now?

I'm old enough to remember when the progressive left first weaponized sexual harassment. It occurred during the early 90s when they thought they could use it to keep a conservative judge, Clarence Thomas, from SCOTUS.

And it almost worked; the Senate vote was very close.

That was when I first heard assertions such as: women don't lie about sexual harassment, women are always to be believed, and even the mere accusation of such crimes is sufficient to banish someone from public office. I don't remember hearing these assertions even being debated, they were just put forth as settled facts.

Of course, all that suddenly changed during the Clinton-Lewinsky scandal, but that's another story.

But right now, the left is reeling from one hammer blow after another as women are lining up to claim that this Democratic senator, donor, or media figure tried to grope me, rape me, or ram his tongue down my throat.

So the question is, why now, in 2017, is the house of cards that the left has been building and expanding for over two decades suddenly starting to collapse on them?

(Yes, I know two Republicans have also been caught up in this. But Barton probably didn't do anything illegal, and in fact, may have been the victim of revenge porn, and the case against Moore is looking more shakier each day)

This longish blog post over at Bookworm's site attempts to explain how we got here by starting with the moral collapse of the 1960s. It's an interesting read.

Another good article is Sex, Power, Weakness and Evil on The Other McCain blog, which deals with a number of related images, including this sobering admonition for humility:

Knowing our own weakness — “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God” — Christians ought to be humble, and to fear any situation that might tempt us to sin. Me, I think God is just forcing the Democrats to play by their own rules. They've sewn the wind, now they're reaping the whirlwind.

I've always believed that Hillary can only be understood in a religious context, i.e. in terms of her religious upbringing. This is what I'm talking about:

"Hillary Clinton is part of the problem."

It is important to remember that she came from a prosperous Republican family. Her father was a successful businessman and in 1964, young Hillary Rodham was a "Goldwater Girl." Unfortunately, she was also a Methodist, and came under the influence of a church youth leader with a "social justice" outlook. She was swept along in the general leftward drift of the Methodist Church (like all WCC denominations) and also internalized the generational narcissism of the Baby Boomers.

Bright young people in the 1950s and '60s were repeatedly told that their generation were the future leaders of America. Their heads were filled with a lot of slogans about "democracy," "freedom" and "equality" and they weren't taught much about skepticism and humility. It would have been better for them if they had been given more good old-fashioned Calvinism, but instead their education turned them into fools, ready to believe in a lot of utopian dreams.

In a society where liberalism prevails among the academic elite, the more education you get, the more of a hopeless fool you become. By the time she went off to Wellesley, Hillary was already on the wrong path, and no one she encountered at college, or later at Yale Law, did anything to correct her path.

You can take the girl out of the religion, but you can't take the religion out of the girl.

Also,

...is a great quote.

Then Currie walked into the nearby pantry, where she waited for about 15 minutes while Lewinsky and the president had a sexual encounter -- their first in 11 months...Lewinsky later discovered that the blue dress she had worn that day was stained with his semen.

And if she hadn't kept that blue dress (which was later used as the basis for a DNA test), the Clintons would be lying about Bill's many and various schtuppings TO THIS DAY. In order to get them to admit the truth, the hard evidence of their lying had to be shoved right into their smug, self-righteous faces. No, it's not a vast right-wing conspiracy, Mrs. Clinton, the DNA test results say otherwise.

I am once again reminded how thankful I am that Hillary Clinton will never be president.

For years and decades, no one spoke up because it was useless. It was just How Things Are; the people committing these crimes had the unquestioned power to make or break the victims. They were not going away, so you had to make your peace with it all as best you could.
The election of PDT was not supposed to happen. It couldn't happen, we were told daily. But it did. It was the crack in the facade that gave everyone the fleeting thought that the power of the oppressors might not be eternal after all. I think this happened at an unconscious level even for Democrats, at least ones with vestigial souls.

Advice to my conservative male associates: I'll repeat my too-often spoken mantra that 'Sexual Harassment' is just plain old harassment of a sexual nature. No man wants his wife, girlfriend or daughter subjected to harassment of a sexual nature by a guy who won't take 'not interested' as a clue.

Guys get one chance to seal the deal, whether it be coffee, the date, or permission to continue. If the answer is 'no' -- take it elsewhere. Ask a second time and you're looking at a harassment charge. As a former employer in charge of training guys who used to be pretty outrageous they 'got it' when I explained it this way.

The best defense against unfair claims is the 'Pence defense'. Always have witnesses around. When I taught, and a single child walked into the classroom, I immediately stepped into the hallway. Common sense -- in todays climate.

I supported him early on, warts and all, for just that reason: I didn't think any of the other potential nominees stood a dog's chance against the Dem noise and propaganda machine. I mean, if you can frame Romney, probably the most decent human being ever to run for office, as a low-life cad, you can smear anybody. Trump was the only one who showed the cojones to punch back, hard. And for that reason, I thought he was the only one who stood a chance.

My family - which is highly attuned to politics - thought I was crazy, and that Trump would be blown out. I didn't think that that was true. I thought he may not win, but then again he may, and in case he wouldn't be blown out.

.My wife started as an ASH in the corrosion control shop on the flight line at Roosey Roads on the night shift for three years. She applied for Legalman when that rate came into being and got picked. Wound up doing 20 years and made E8 and was on the short list for the first female Master Chief Legalman when we packed it in.

Been there and did that with women in the Navy and saw the good and the bad, just like I did with men. And yes we did have some that joined the Navy just to get pregnant, married and discharged. But one thing I did notice, I can only remember kicking one woman out of the Navy for drugs or misconduct in my 21 years.

I think Weinstein put the arm on Hollywood types to contribute the same way he got actresses to cooperate. The Or Else was implied or spelled out.

When Hillz went down a lot of people complained about it, and I am pretty sure Weinstein told them he had told them to shut up or else, so or else it was.

It wasn't so much revenge as it was self defense from what that vicious son of a bitch had shown he was capable of doing.

The others are small fry, but rape and harassment is just as big to the victim, and the lesson from Weinstein was that anyone could fall.

There is also that nasty understanding by liberals that when the game is going you can be a victim or you can be on top, and the way to be on top is to be the one denouncing the others for the thought crime de-jour before they can do you in turn.

That wasn't the point I was making. But yes, I agree the fact that Bill Clinton had a pattern of hitting on women around him was a key point. But I never saw any evidence that what he did with Monica was actual harassment of a sexual nature. Because she said 'Yes' to his overtures.

If I recall correctly, Paula Jones received a large pile of money ($800,000 ?) with no admission of guilt from Clinton.

The part I found actually scary: Lewinsky said that Bill Clinton would have her pleasure him orally but he would not allow himself to ejaculate. She had some kind of messed-up "love" for him (not sure what word to use there, but in her mind there was a chance he was going to leave Hillary and they could openly be together) and she said that she really wanted him to start finishing. The first time he did was the day she got his semen on the blue dress.

Why did I find this scary? I realized that Bill Clinton had worked out a Standard Operating Procedure for how to sexually use women without them getting any physical evidence. If he never got his DNA on any blue dress, it's their word against his word.

How screwed up does a man have to be to have worked out an SOP for sexually using women and being able to deny it?

Must have been nice for him when all the prominent feminists (including senior people at the National Organization for Women) helped defend him. (Use women sexually and NOW has your back... if your name is Clinton.)

Mostly because Frau Gruppencankles did the election faceplant.

I think that these victims have wanted to take down these assholes for a LONG time now. But since a lot of the predators were Clinton-connected, there was a reluctance, partly because of the power involved but also because it would seriously impact Hillary's career path by reminding the public about Bill's crimes. Remember, most of these victims are good little Hollywood leftists, and true believers. I think they were willing to stay silent in order to protect Hillary by keeping sexual harassment by lefty icons out of the spotlight.

Once her political career was essentially over, there was little reason for the victims to stay silent. And after Harvey was destroyed, things just snowballed. There's no one on the left that's high-ranking enough to protect in the same way that they protected Hillary.

Clarence was a watershed in several ways, and Wilbur Mills was old school like Oldsmobile Ted, but I think Hart was a more modern arrangement, and Anita Hill didn't just drop out of heaven.

One must not fall into the trap of thinking that leftist are like us because we are all human. The leftist does not think the same was us or any non-political person. The are first and last leftists in everything. They will use any method, legal or illegal, moral or immoral to advance their march to power. Nothing matters to the leftist but the march to power and once obtained maintaining power.

It is why I believe they love the necessary proper clause of the Constitution. In essence, the clause states that let the end be legitimate, then any all means to achieve that end are proper. In the case of the Constitution, the end must be a Constitutional end, but for the leftist, the end is the march to and/or seizure maintenance of power.

This outing and feeding frenzy concerning the DNC gropers is about the march to power and clearing away those people impeding the march. If a few DNC gropers who are not impeding the march get caught up in the clearing away, so what. All that matters is the Clinton machine and its loyalists are swept away as the leftist continue to assault Trump.

Notice how hard the leftists are protecting Al "tiny hands" Franken. He has use for the march to power and the assault on Trump. And so we see the Bill Clinton defense tactics employed, such as using women to say he is a good guy, asserting that he is an advocate for women then throwing him into a meaningless ethics panel. No DNC leftist is calling for his ouster.

This country and its bedrock institutions, the family, religion, patriotism, the Constitution, etc. are constantly under assault by the left. They are always chipping away, eroding the foundation on their march to power. They use any means possible to divide us and to persuade us top compromise our mores, our laws, our selves.

I refer to them as the powers of darkness, for that is what they spread. The wish to turn all of us into slaves toiling for a small minority. I think the book by Donna Brazile and the rest mentioned above is part of a whole new force sweeping the decks of the left.

With the Clinton Crime Family, the Hollywood cartel was a major source of funding for the DNC/left.

What if the new boss has no need? What if they are self-funded? What if the tech oligarchs are planning on getting overtly political? They would have no need of funding. In fact, they would blow a bridge (Hollywood funding) they have no intention or need of using. The landscape is clear for an Apple/Microsoft/Google/Facebook Wunderkind to step into the field and face a decimated left.

Didn't the Washington Post start this thing rolling? Who owns that piece of fishwrap now?

Remember the buzz in the 90's of the Clintons having something like 250 secret FBI files that they held over opponents heads? What if a tech lord had everyone's search and browsing history?

Could be a whole new game afoot.

227 Why now? Because the crazies who believe we're a "rape culture" think they're strong enough now that they can purge Hollywood of all non-SJWs, and charging sexual harassment may very well achieve that.

I'm hoping this whole campaign will backfire, at least to the extent of teaching some lefties the hard way that due process (including a statute of limitations short enough to make it possible to defend oneself) matters. If we're lucky, we can also get the cultural warfare (no jokes/innuendo/"locker room atmosphere") part of the sexual harassment law rolled back, preferably in a way that the next Democratic administration won't be able to undo.
