Angry Partisan Thumb: Bill Clinton's 1978 Rape of Juantia Broadderick Was "Empowered" by the Republicans' Defense of Clarence Thomas Thirteen Years Later in 1991

Okay, #FakeNews "Republican" (actually, he claims to be a "Proud Independent," which is also #FakeNews) and ABC Political "Analyst" Matthew Dowd doesn't talk about the Juanita Broadrick rape. But surely he knows that Clinton's abuse of women long predates the Clarence Thomas hearings...?

Apparently not. By his telling, Clinton was "empowered" to do things in the past by things that would only happen in the future.

According to Dowd, the only reason Justice Thomas was confirmed to sit on the court was that of tribal politics. "I think until we take off our jersey and say some things are not about our Jersey. Some things are not about the tribe that we're in," he pontificated. "We saw this in '91, then the Republicans gave up their values in order to get Justice Thomas on the court."

"They basically called Anita Hill a nut and a liar in order to get Justice Thomas on the court. They empowered Bill Clinton," he continued to proclaim, devoid of any facts or reason. "But in order to get those things, they decided the ends justify the means. They decided that a tainted person was better to get what they wanted."

Here are some people who cannot take their partisan shirts off and call out sexual assailants:

Notice they refuse to note that Leeann Tweeden also alleged that Franken committed the sexual battery of sticking his tongue into her mouth, not only unexpectedly but previously explicitly forbidden.

She said "NO" even to a fake stage kiss; he decided to force his tongue into her mouth anyway.

Here's another guy who can't take off his partisan shirt and call out his own tribe: Matthew J. Dowd himself, who, despite my badgering, continues insisting that Al Franken owned up to what he did:

No, he didn't. This is the standard liberal line, from Matthew Dowd to FoxNews "analyst" AB Stoddard: Al Franken admitted what he did.

No, he didn't. Tweeden had photographic proof he groped her; he "admitted" that, which could not be denied. There was a fucking picture of him caught red-handed, as it were.

He refuses to admit the even more egregious part of her allegation, that he forcibly tongue kissed her.

"He just put his hand on the back of my head and mashed his face against me," Tweeden said in a news conference Thursday. "It happened so fast. He mashed his lips against my face and stuck his tongue in my mouth so fast. All I can remember is that his lips were really wet and slimy."

Franken has not only not admitted that act but has said he has a different memory of the moment.

"I certainly don't remember the rehearsal for the skit in the same way, but I send my sincerest apologies to Leeann," Franken said in his first statement after the news broke.

Later, in a more extensive statement -- one in which he discussed the photo at length --- Franken said, "While I don't remember the rehearsal for the skit as Leeann does, I understand why we need to listen to and believe women's experiences."

On Friday, Franken addressed the subject for a third time, in an email to Tweeden. He apologized for the photo, but said, again: "I remember that rehearsal differently."

Franken added, on the rehearsal incident, that "What's important is the impact on you and you felt violated by my actions. For that I apologize." The email was a classic I'm-sorry-if-you-were-offended apology that did not admit the behavior alleged.

In none of the statements did Franken say what his memory of the incident is.

He's calling her a liar. That's what you're saying when you say your "memory differs."

Because there's no proof on that one.

Just her claim.

Which counts as proof against Roy Moore, but not against Al Franken, for some reason I can't even guess at.

And I think the forcible tongue-kiss is the worst offense. I suspected women would say the same thing, so I put up a poll on Twitter:

691 votes, 91% saying the forcible tongue kiss is the more egregious violation, only 9% saying the groping was the worst one.

A friend relayed to me the input of his wife. She said the tongue-kiss was worse, "and it isn't even close."

I suspect that's because of the penetrative, wet, biological agent aspect of it.

I also suspected that because I tried imagining what I would think was worse, if a gay guy did the same to me. (I say "Gay guy" because an unwanted sexual battery from a woman, while unwanted and maybe even gross, wouldn't really be a huge deal either way. I'd just push her away and say "Stop.")

Some guy pulling a Terry Crews on my junk -- a brief squeeze -- versus a tongue-in-your-mouth forcible kiss? As my friend's wife said: Not even close.

Not happy about either, but the latter is definitely worse.

But the media -- Matthew Dowd, Dave Wiegel, Gloria Borger, that partisan robot Josh Marshall, FoxNews' AB Stoddard -- all insist on pretending the latter just wasn't alleged at all, so they can claim that Al Franken "manned up" and admitted his sins.

3 Franken's apology for the butt grope was a variation of "I'm sorry you felt offended." Not sorry for any action, only the reaction --- for something he doesn't remember.

Here's a thought: he does this often enough that it is not memorable.

33 I am sick to death of these lying pigs saying that Clarence Thomas was some kind of predator or assailant. Even if you believed Anita Hill's stories --- which 85% of people who actually watched the hearings, including a majority of Dem watchers, did NOT --- all Thomas ever did was tell a few dirty jokes and ask her out.

A few years later and after a fullcourt press by the media, that stupid bitch is the second coming of Harriet Tubman and Thomas is a some kind of sex offender.

82 Because there's no proof on that one.

Just her claim.

And since her claim has support with both photographic proof and admission about a previous claim, she's got a lot of credibility. I believe her when she says it happened. Franken can't even come out and say "no, never happened" just "my memory is bad"

Teh_Donald had a clip this weekend of Chris Farley going on the House floor and pretending to be Newt, when Newt was speaker.

I remember that skit and it was great. It made fun of stuff happening instead of people. It poked at funny activity, not savagely attacked ideological enemies. It was about entertainment, not winning the narrative. That's what comedy is supposed to be.

84 Logically, it would be in the Democrats' best interests for Franken to resign. MN has a D governor, so they wouldn't be losing a seat, and it would help their case against Roy Moore, which would gain them a seat. Also, it would set a precedent that would prep the battlefield for some very effective fake accusations that they will surely find against Trump in 2020.

Thankfully logic usually eludes them

Ah, but we citizens are very aware of what that circus was about because we've been required to take sexual harassment awareness classes at work since then.

Here's what it should be: If any of these men or women are caught doing something we citizens have been told by HR is a no-no then they are sexual harassers.

Sorry, the new-ish rules apply to all AND they can't pretend they didn't know. No --- it's been a few decades, and they've been celebrating Anita Hill's bravery since then. You don't get to still claim ignorance, or comedy, or "I'm sorry if YOU were offended" blah blah blah!

said that she wanted him to stop nor that any sort of penalty was implied or suggested by refusal.

157 Now we are also hearing about Trump never having acknowledged or apologized to all the women he has harassed and assaulted. Because There Aren't Any!!! And again the Dems and LIV's can be counted on to not bother spending a couple minutes to find out the truth.

Don't you remember those dozen or so women Gloria Allred trotted out of the blue in October? Sure most of them had less credibility than Sam Giancana's lawyer, but they all said he did such terrible things as suggest they are fat and pat them on the rear end!!!!!1!1!!! And there was that girl who said Trump raped her when she was 13!!!!11!1!!!

Sure, almost all of them totally vanished after the election. Sure the girl has tried to sue Trump like 8 times and 8 times had judges throw her case out for utter lack of credibility or substance.

But he must apologize!!!!!!!!!!!

165 I have a question. Of all the pervy pervs on the Left who have been accused, have any denied it completely? (Apparently there's something out there today about Glenn Thrush but I have been trying to work at work so I don't know) Because it seems like they all admit at least part of it. Okay, no, Weiner was "hacked". Okay apart from that. I might be misremembering but it seems like they all admit to something whereas Roy Moore and Trump both denied that they did anything at all. That's rather a major difference, isn't it?

Hold out Judge Roy Moore (whom I have started to suspect could be innocent, for God's sake) as a typical Republican pig to woo back white women? Ya know, the same white women Democrats dismissed as ungrateful whores after they voted for Trump a few months ago/?

Whatever the intent/strategg was, it has failed miserably. Just today, Katie Pavlich's leftist co-panelists berated her when she mentioned Ted Kennedy "left a woman to drown." Actually, pursuant to Massachusetts statutes at the time, Kennedy murdered her, but the Party of Rape still can't own up to that one, apparently.

The Democrats and Left were so reliant on public trust of their propaganda organs that they can't recalibrate now that most people realize the media is a partisan farce. This is an epic fail but is just the start for them.

Posted by: Christopher R Taylor at November 20, 2017 04:05 PM (39g3+)

306 Quite a few years ago, maybe even a decade ago, I read a short story in a horror anthology about a world in which political correctness had gotten so out of control that it was legal to kill anyone who offended you for any reason. The protagonist lived in an apartment and spent all of his day in a silent apartment with no television or radio running and without shoes so as to not piss off the neighbors. He only went out at night because you had much less of a chance of running into someone who might take the slightest offense.

I don't remember how the story unfolded, but it sure seems we're heading in this direction. It's getting to the point where you could lose everything because someone misconstrued a conversation you had with them five years ago.

Now I know what we're seeing here goes far beyond this. Grabbing an ass or forcing a kiss is far more than a lame come on attempt, but does anyone think it won't go that far?

Posted by: Dack Thrombosis at November 20, 2017 04:06 PM (4ErVI)

307 Since unwanted kissing is now sexual assault, I suppose women will be held to the same standards as men in this area, yes?

Or will men get charged with assault/battery when they push the woman off of them and defend themselves from being sexually assaulted?

I believe we all know the answer to this, the latter. And it's playing right into the feminist agenda, like their agenda of it being a crime for straight men to not want to fuck trannies.

317 306 Quite a few years ago, maybe even a decade ago, I read a short story in a horror anthology about a world in which political correctness had gotten so out of control that it was legal to kill anyone who offended you for any reason.

319 So you believe that sexual harassment at the work place does not require any sort of coercive element?

Posted by: Christopher R Taylor at November 20, 2017 04:05 PM (39g3+)

Absolutely. At root sexual harassment is actual harassment of a sexual nature. More than once. Multiple times.

To infer that the lowly janitor is not capable of sexual harassment is a dangerous opinion on your part. If some janitor was harassing my wife I'd be suing the pants off the corporation that allowed that.

Please don't give bad information to men and women. If you want to study the issue and get back to me, please do. I'm well versed in this.

Posted by: Ace Tractor Seat Supply at November 20, 2017 04:10 PM (ajiE5)

320 The way I understand it is:

Sexual harassment by law requires some level of intimidation or coercion, it is an attempt to force sexual action by threat or offer of reward. Sleep with me and I'll make sure you get that new job. Don't sleep with me and you'll be out on the street and I'll give you a bad name all over town.

If there is no element of coercion, its more like just plain harassment or assault. Its a different crime. Maybe I'm wrong, that's just always what I've heard and understand it to be, legally.

Hillary was half right, that a challenge of the election (by Trump she thought) was a threat to our "democracy". It really is a threat with Hillary doing it, because she has her whole syndicate on the inside working to sabotage the will of the people. Border control is being stymied, leaks abound, top people won't act on Trump's (the people's) directives.
