"For the apparel oft proclaims the man." Yeah, I wrote that. It took awhile, but it was worth the trouble.

How come you people worry about this stuff? I guess everything else is just perfect in your world. But if it is so perfect, how come I sometimes have to throw poo to get fed?

The Southern Poverty Law Center lists Dr. Martens with red or white laces in the "Racist Skinhead Glossary."

You lost me right there buddy. Anyone who cites that notoriously anti-American, racist, classist, communist organization loses all credibility.

According to Randy Blazak, chair of Oregon's Coalition Against Hate Crime and a criminologist who specializes in hate groups, Dr. Martens have been connected to racist skinheads since the 1970s.

Really? Because punks on the West Coast wore Doc Martens, and the ones in the Bay Area sure weren't racist. Quite the opposite. But they wore the same boots? As a symbol? Really?

Black Dr. Martens with white shoelaces are a symbol of "general white power," Blazak said over the phone Thursday.
"The idea," he continued, "is that you graduate from white laces to red laces once you've spilled somebody's blood."
Blazak said he knows Dr. Martens has been working to distance itself from the racist skinhead image and he is surprised it would allow an ad like this to be displayed, especially in Portland.
"In Portland, where we're tagged as 'Skinhead City,'" he said, "it's triggering."

So how about the droopy-pants look that is affected by thugs in the inner cities who actually kill people? Can I claim that is a trigger for law-abiding folks whose most fervent desire is that they not be murdered?

How about clothing companies that advertise blue or red clothing? Can I say it triggers those in the crossfire of Crips and Bloods gang violence?

Inner city gang violence dwarfs the dangers of white supremacists, real or imagined. When was the last time you read about a racist skinhead committing an act of violence? Because you can pick up any newspaper in America and read about ghetto murders and violence. Every day.

But complaining about minority-on-minority violence doesn't get you headlines. Besides, these people don't give a shit about democrat strongholds like Chicago and Newark and Oakland. They can kill each other with impunity as long as they are reliable in the voting booths.

The College Democrats of Wisconsin announced that its vice chair who lashed out against “white men” in a tweet last week has stepped down from her role in the organization.
According to the group, Sarah Semrad, a junior at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse who allegedly tweeted that “I f***ing hate white men,” resigned her post on the executive board of the political organization as of Tuesday morning.

She seems nice.

Had an order from Duluth Trading show it went to Tennessee to be delivered. Showed up in Dallas properly. But still said it was in Tennessee.

I know that I'm strange, but every once in a while in a relationship that moment strikes when you are sitting quietly in the house and you look over at your partner and things just sort of strike you upside the head.

Often, I have looked at my girlfriend and thought "She really is beautiful" and then am prompted to go give a hug out of the blue or help her in some way with chores or even express the thought aloud.

But every once in a while I look over and think "Gawd I hate her and every disgusting habit she has". This usually occurs during rocky times in a relationship and I'm usually prompted to go to Hooter's and eat lousy chicken wings and drink overpriced draft beer just to get a look at some hot chicks.

The reason I rarely ask directions when I'm driving somewhere is because (a) the neighborhood might be pretty skeevy and getting out of my car, or even rolling down a window, could be asking for trouble; and (b) most of the morons I see probably don't know how to give directions.

A vegetarian diet tends to be low in a couple of essential amino acids ("essential" meaning ones that we cannot synthesize, and that must be supplied by the diet) because those amino acids are found in low prevalence in plants. IIRC (and I may not) they include lysine and methionine, so vegetarians have to eat an exceptional amount of the few plants that appreciable concentrations of these amino acids.

It's like how even plain Janes got married if they were members of European royalty or the aristocracy. They didn't marry for love - it was more of a corporate merger. The husbands fathered legitimate kids with the heiress and then went on to have mistresses.

The Clintons think they are American royalty. And Chelsea has learned from Mom to ignore any cheating.

SKINHEADS ARE NOT NAZIS. Listen to some Symarip. Nazis who *think* they are skinheads are called "boneheads" or "bones." Only the historically ignorant, the lazy, the left, or those who have, unfortunately, been caught up in the cultural monopoly of the left (the vast majority of us) don't know the truth about skinheads. (Yes, I'm a "trad," or "traditional skinhead" - like the music, the look, which STARTED IN THE 60's as a combination of Jamaican rude boys, English hard mods, and English soccer hooligans). Docs were worn by cops and postal workers in England, and punks/hipsters/grungies/etc. have been wearing them for years. Only race mongers like this use the "Docs=skinheads=racists" formula.

Re: laces: red was actually a sign of *left-leaning* political sympathies, white was for right-leaning. It wasn't until the late 70's that bones appeared, and there were, and still are, some pretty epic fights between bones and non-bones. When I first moved to Orange County CA in the early aughts, it wasn't too long after some of the bigger fights in the 90's between the groups there. Wearing boots and braces (docs and thin suspenders) was still viewed rather suspiciously by cops and bouncers. Not so bad anymore, as most of the Nazis - round here in CA, anyway - have adopted gang-banger looks (white kerchiefs instead of blue or red or black, etc.).

These days? Man, I could wear white laces to an Hispanic skin show and no one would care. Nobody knows anymore the history.

One last observation: doesn't Chelsea Clinton look like her mom from the late-90's? As if she's aged really, really rapidly - and poorly? Kinda frightening to look at.
