Menendez Jury Deadlocked on All Corruption Charges

I guess Menendez' YOLO rhetorical question, "What is a Senator?," really swayed the jurors.

After days of deliberations in New Jersey Democratic Sen. Bob Menendez’s federal trial on corruption charges, jurors announced Monday that they were deadlocked on each count of the indictment.

U.S. District Judge William Walls ordered the jury to keep deliberating, though the impasse is a promising sign for Menendez.

The embattled Democrat faces 20 years in prison if convicted. He previously vowed not to resign if convicted, and Senate Democrats have given no indication that they would join with Republicans in voting to expel him from the chamber.

Treated with Covenia, anti nausea meds, sub Q fluids and Steroids.

She ate some of her canned food this morning which was an improvement.

Clearly the most important thing is that Moore not be chased from the race by 2 people with no evidence or credibility making 38-yr old claims. Because if this works, then your already diluted, or meaningless, votes become literally mere gestures, whenever the political class desires it.

If for whatever reason Moore is gone from the race, however, absolutely follow the Lautenberg model from NJ. Laws? Rules? F**k those. Just arbitrarily change the schedule/mechanics to get the strongest GOPer in the race.

Posted by: CaliGirl at November 13, 2017 08:21 PM (Ri/rl)
========================

See how she does on the steroids and antibiotics. A positive response to those could point you in one direction and away from another. If she has an obstruction, that will mean surgery but all the bowel obstruction surgeries I've been in on have had good outcomes. Oddest one was when a Golden swallowed a bra. The hooks got caught on the intestinal wall and it was touch and go. She made it though, so don't rule out a surgery if they think that's it.

If it's cancer, you have to weigh the treatment/quality of life/ outcome thing. That's a hard call. The only one who can make it is you.

I hope she clears up on the meds. One step at a time ...... Praying for a good outcome and a feisty kitty.

They will not stop unless they are stopped cold.

And not with words.

They're begging for a fight and think that we're too nice to fight back, to willing to be cowed in the interest of peace and civility but that has never worked with the left. They take any backing up as a sign of weakness and the righteousness of their cause(s).

Time to take a stand and refuse to budge. The first thing is to get rid of the wussies in congress.

354 If it turns out Moore was trying to chloroform teenagers or whatever, instead of just a sleazy political tactic, *and* he's elected anyway, it will be because the people who knew it waited until THE LAST SECOND to blow their own wads trying to derail the election instead of doing something about it WHEN THEY COULD.

It's a microcosm of every "known wolf" story. People ignore shit until suddenly it's to their political advantage (see: just about everyone in Hollywood).

I ain't even saying why didn't you do something 40 years ago, I'm saying why didn't you do something a month ago.

Why? Because there would have been time to sort out the evidence or actually replace someone then. Too freakin' late now, it's on you for waiting.

P.S. *some* people are caught up in Hollywood hysteria, but that place *really is* titanically corrupt and needs to be fumigated and/or replaced. If half of Hollywood goes broke or is driven out of the business that's probably not quite enough to clear out the slime.

Yes it was a brilliant political move racially speaking except the your father's Oldsmobile GOP manages to squander every fucking opportunity by letting Allen West get redistricted out of a job; and the apologists can STFU with that but but but BIPARTISAN COMMITTEE horseshit. A bonus was Thomas being a rock ribbed conservative after that turncoat dickhole Souter shredded the Constitution with that Kelo decision.

The gutlessness of the GOP was also on display by not tuning up that creep from Searchlight like the second coming of the exercise band when he made disgustingly bigoted comments about Thomas's intelligence and legal chops. A very pathetic bunch of cowards make up the GOP.

1) Don't think Hillary's unconvictable; furthermore, that's not the point - does anyone think OJ is innocent, how has his career gone since? Full exposure of the lurid facts concerning Hillary's many many serious felonies - and those of her entire team - is much better done in a court of law, with criminal violation charges attached, than in some lame commission. And I think jury repudiation of several of her obvious crimes (Espionage Act, negligence provision) would be as absurd as OJ's acquittal, and seen as such.

2) What's your take on the Bergdahl sentence? Don't think you're a UCMJ guy per se, but lawyer plus military, you gotta have an edumucated opinion.

Posted by: Deplorable Jay Guevara at November 13, 2017 09:07 PM (YqDXo) fnord (YqDXo)

No, it can be that big deal, it can be scarring and people don't say anything for 40 years. I mean for crying out loud that's like a substantial percentage of Hollywood and people who worked in that industry *knew* that and did almost nothing about it until it was a *thing*.

But that's just an example where other people *knew* what was happening and did nothing about it either at the time or when the person in question was a public figure, in this case until days before an election.

This was known and it was held until the last second as an October Surprise.

They're trying to force people into an uninformed reaction.

That's the problem.

If some "investigative journalist" found this out a year ago we wouldn't be in this position now. But the either didn't bother or more likely they knew and saved it for a close election.

Which is disgusting.

Recruitment and retention logically get tougher in a booming economy, but notwithstanding the Dow and a few quarterly GDP numbers, this economy is not yet booming in the sense of wild job creation and rising wages. 519 Thanks for the suggestions re military recruiting. Dunno. I don't buy a hot economy as the answer, and I get zero of my info on the economy from the press.

For some reason there seems to be great resistance to these observations around here, but JackStraw is right about one thing that might be related - the physical fitness of American yute (the whole populace, but it's he recruiting demo we're focused on).

Don't have the figures to hand, but there are some pretty shocking data out there about the physical condition of young people.

But ..... I still don't think this gets at the question, because we're talking pretty modest recruiting numbers. A small all-volunteer military in a country of 330 million. Nothing like the huge rejection % of Depression-ravaged youth in mass conscription for WWII.

No, I got that screwed up about Benet's son being 21. He was just a little boy, about 7 years old. He got deathy sick on a skiing trip with her, and went into cardiac arrest and died with they tried to intubate him.

527 Re Tammy Bruce. I didn't know this until recently, and Tammy wrote about it in one of her books.

She was lovers with a Brenda Benet, a soap opera star and former wife of Bill Bixby. They lived together for a while, broke up, and Tammy moved out. They were supposed to meet for lunch about something, and Tammy was supposed to pick her up.

Benet had locked herself in the bathroom, and wouldn't come out. She blew her brains out when Tammy left, just as she was stepping out of the door.
Posted by: publius, the Persistent Poperin Pear at November 13, 2017 09:19 PM (8O3HH)

Tammy is disarmingly honest about stuff like that which doesn't creep me out because she just talks about it in a matter of fact way and makes it clear she figured out how to deal with it; including that she's the product of an affair between a mob hit man and a showgirl. She doesn't play the victim at all and makes it clear that she's a survivor. Like Breitbart, she comes from the left and understands every damn one of their dirtball tactics. One of Ailes last smart moves was moving her out of BOR's show and over to regular appearances on Fox Business, which has been a great fit for her.

It's not a covert investigation. How about not making your boss look like a jackass demanding something be done when you are supposedly doing it. The President is not supposed to be involved in the direction of DOJ investigations but they certainly should advise the President's staff of what is ongoing.

610 The belted plaid was originally a length of thick woollen cloth made up from two loom widths sewn together to give a total width of 54 to 60 inches, and up to 7 yards (6.4 m) in length.

Two things I want to get right, how to correctly wear a loincloth and how to wear a Great Kilt.

611 >>Any law that prevents the POTUS from directing his AG to investigate something, IMHO, is unconstitutional.

It's pretty much never operated that way and when Presidents do get involved it usually goes bad. Went bad when Nixon tried it and it sure as shit went bad when Holder did it to us for the last 8 years.

I don't want a president, any president, to have power to direct investigations or control the federal law enforcement. It's just asking for partisan abuse.

I want an independent DOJ that follows the law and that is apparently what is happening right now.

613 You think maybe there is a connection between the people looking forward to violence and the people smashing their own belongings? You think this is healthy and constructive?
Posted by: Banana Splits Guy - Nostrildamus (No Smoothies) at November 13, 2017 09:33 PM (RrhD2)

Comic book-level pop psychology, with a hint of melodrama. I think you see yourself as the voice of reason. In the horde. Good luck with that.

The truth is there is nothing wrong with violence when directed at the right target. For example, our country bombs terrorists down to the molecular level on a fairly regular basis and I can only see that as a good thing.

And yes, in a civilian context, releasing and channeling anger without causing violence to people is healthy and constructive. Better a coffee pot than a cranium, I always say.

Well, okay, I never say that, but you get the drift.

614 Betcha I'm not.

Look I don't know BSG, never talked to him, don't especially like him, but I see he regularly challenges people's thought processes. I think it's great what he brings to the discussion.

Again, it's practice. Arguing is great. Prepares us for the real fight.

Yea, actually it is and no, they should not be briefing the White House. There is actual DOJ instructions not to do this unless it is legally necessary. That doesn't include politics.

618 Your height is fingertip to fingertip, arms horizontal.
Therefore, given the above,
1 cubit = 3 penis
2 cubit = elbow to elbow (arms horizontal, fingertips touching across your chest)
Your height is 4 cubits, or 12 penis.

What penalties did Obama and Holder reap other than some meaningless contempt of congress finding? The Attorney General is a Cabinet position so there's a line relationship between them in the org chart. JFK had his brother as AG so spare me the nonsense that they have to act like they're on different planets. Obviously I don't want Sessions to be a complete puppet but one of the rationalizations of a special prosecutor is that you can't trust an administration to investigate itself, which was borne out from 2008-2016.

Lulz. Very little concerns or scares me. I just think it is ridiculous the internet warriors planning for the next civil war and throwing people out of helicopters when the ones who talk the most about it are only going to talk about it for the next 10-20 years. From their easy chairs. Wake me up when the keyboard warriors start acting.
