Why Campus Rape Tribunals Hand Down So Many 'Guilty' Verdicts

This should surprise exactly who? The campus witch trials are an extension of the leftist mind-set that demands power over everything. That these "courts" are stacked against heterosexual men is simply icing on the cake. Stalin's Soviet Union could do no worse. He had different targets, but the process was the same.

Since 2011, the federal government has required all universities that receive federal money to provide “training or experience in handling complaints of sexual harassment and sexual violence” to adjudicators and investigators. Since nothing in the experience of most academics prepares them to competently investigate an offense that’s a felony in all 50 states, it makes sense to train those who are assigned to investigate campus sexual-assault allegations. But the ideological regimes used on many campuses are designed more to stack the deck against accused students than to ensure a fair inquiry. The risk of injustice is enhanced by the fact that, to the best of our knowledge, no school discloses the contents of its training materials to accused students before commencing the disciplinary process. The contrast between this training regime and the instructions given by judges to jurors in criminal trials—most obviously, that they should presume defendants innocent until proven guilty—is stark.

It's by design....nice touch. They don't even have to whisper in the hall outside of the inquisition chambers. It's baked into the cake!

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell says that Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore of Alabama "should step aside" in light of allegations he had sexual contact with a 14-year-old girl decades ago.

McConnell spoke to reporters Monday after visiting a plant in Kentucky. He says he believes the women who were quoted in a Washington Post story about Moore's past relationships with them as young women.

I'm not really shocked that she might have lost friendships because of this...though that would be a judgement of the would-be friend anyway wouldn't it?

But the relationship thing? That's all her. If she is attractive and young she has her choice of men and is either picking the wrong ones or screwing up the relationship because she feels she is "settling" because she is so attractive....

There's also a black woman in there who is 44 and there's no mention or marriage or children, just lots of talk about how she embraced her overwhelming beauty at a young age and how if her appearance were to alter AT ALL, she'd be ridiculously unhappy. Because she's so evolved emotionally and accepts her beauty as part of herself or something.

I agree with this. Truly beautiful women are usually more pleasant to deal with than the ones who are somewhat pretty--or "hot"--but think too highly of themselves. The reason for this is that they tend to be more secure.

It is mind-numbingly stupid. From what I can tell:

-- Alt-right types (like Richard Spencer) adore Taylor and claim her as one of their own
-- Obscure blogger analyzes a music video of hers and declares: Nazi imagery, she's just like Hitler !!11!
-- Taylor's legal team send s a lot of threatening/defamation suit letter to bloggers, and sent one to this obscure blogger
-- Obscure blogger went to ACLU and got them to assist her in fighting Taylor's legal threats

And....Taylor Swift is hated by the Left/gossip sites because she's never identified any political causes except made a few pro-feminism statements, and she hasn't denounced the "Nazis" who love her.

U.S. District Court Judge William H. Walls asked about jurors exposure to outside-the-courtroom information after a juror excused from deliberations on Thursday caused an uproar by telling reporters that Menendez was innocent, the government was corrupt and the jury was divided.

After less than 20 minutes of questioning, which was closed to the press, Walls returned the courtroom and instructed the jury to begin its deliberations from scratch with an alternate taking the place of the excused juror.

In other words, she's (as far as I can tell) doing what we (well, I) want-- staying out of the political/controversy realm and sticking to her actual job, which is performing (and not virtue-signaling).

But this is really the most time and effort I've spent on the matter, so maybe there's more to it. (If anything, more awful/stupid.)

284 >>In college 30 years ago, one of us boys in pre-seminary studies preparing to become Protestant ministers was unbelievably handsome, right out of a Calvin Klein or Ralph Lauren ad or the pages of an Abercrombie & Fitch catalog. Actually it was uncanny how he was even much more handsome than any male model or movie star you've every seen. Late one night over some beers we were ribbing him about it, and he angrily said it wasn't funny, we didn't realize what a burden it was to go through life being so handsome. He really was very devout, preparing to be a minister, and women propositioned him CONSTANTLY.

I've got a similar friend who I met nowhere near a seminary. He's like 6'4" and ridiculously handsome and a professional sailor.

We nicknamed him The Most Handsome Man In Yacht Racing. Mostly because it pissed him off but also because it's true. We'd take him to bars in our younger days and use him like bait, he'd bring in a school of beauties and we would be ready to pounce on the unworthy.

He's getting payback now. He has an 18 year old daughter who in addition to inheriting his athletic genes is also really good looking. We're having even more fun now constantly giving him crap about the guys flocking to her in heat. He is miserable.

Isn't this what good friends are for?

291 Actually, I once worked with a guy who was very handsome - stereotypically so, tall, dark, and handsome with blue eyes. And he was single. He shared an office with me for a few months, and it was freakin' hilarious how all these single women would find some way to stop by our very out-of-the-way office for no reason at all. I was engaged to my husband at the time so my co-worker knew he was safe from me, but man, did I tease him about it!

It got to the point where after one particularly giggly female had just left, I started to slowly turn around in my chair to look at him and he said, "Just stop right there." He knew what was coming.

The best was when the women would have their back to me while talking to him and I could roll my eyes and bat my lashes at him and he couldn't do anything about it.

Do these two young people have a future together? Is this something they will look back on in old age?

341 I used to work as a fully-licensed Police Officer on a private college campus back in the late 90's, early 00's. Texas allows for such a thing and the concept has it uses. What sickened me then, as an emerging practice that is now standard nowadays, is this proclivity for colleges and universities, public and private, to adjudicate criminal matters through "University Court" or "Administrative Adjudication".

Quite simply, this is a way for campuses to keep their federally mandated crime reporting stats low. Further, it keeps students, and their sweet sweet tuition money, on campus; an incarcerated sh!tbag . . . I mean "student" . . . doesn't flow money into the university. Finally, I believe that colleges and universities like to think of themselves as a community apart from the rest of society (e.g. - "the academic bubble") and the administrators of those institutions see themselves as our betters and rulers of these little fiefdoms.

It is a shame, because for all the supposedly "justice" being doled out on these so-called grounds of higher-education by SJW types via administrative adjudication, so many young men are getting railroaded for "crimes" they did not commit and those committing crimes are walking away either unpunished, unreported, or with a slap on the wrist. The model for modern colleges and universities needs to be torn down and vilified, making room for REAL institutions of learning to flourish.

Sagan was a charlatan, straight up. That "nuclear winter" disinformation was made up out of whole cloth. He and his compadre (whose name I've forgotten) basically started with the conclusion they wanted to reach - viz., that we should surrender unconditionally to the USSR, stat - and worked backwards to find the parameters that would result in "nuclear winter."

Notice he/they weren't urging the Soviets to stand down. No. Their nuclear weapons would be as pure as the driven snow. It was OURS that would be the problem.

Spit.

I dated a few truly beautiful women when I was young and single. Although not movie star handsome or wealthy or anything, I was a reasonably good-looking kid with prospects so I asked them out anyway, figuring the worst they could do is say no. It seemed to work. Another thing I did was actually listen when they talked. That seemed to work, too. Sometimes we even hit it off. People are people.

Once dated this woman who was far from conventionally attractive, but she was smart, funny, charming, witty and deep. It felt good just to be in her presence. She eventually dumped me, of course, since she was truly out of my league, but she was very nice about it.

__________________

I wouldn't, if he was an older guy from the south.

So Moore dated teenagers. So what? So long as they were old enough to consent, it wasn't illegal. They were free to say no. There is no evidence he ever forced his attentions on any of them.

The only one (so far) who has said she was under the age of consent was Corfman. And her story differed in significant details from what the others said. The others said Moore never did anything more than kiss them. Corfman said he stripped down to his tidy whities and groped her. The others who met Moore when they were under age 16 (the age of consent in AL) said he told them to call him when they were older. Corfman says she told Moore she was only 14, but he dated her anyway. The others said Moore asked their mothers for their permission to date them. Corfman said Moore arranged to pick her up around the corner from her mother's house so her mother wouldn't know she was going out with him.

Then there is the fact that Corfman's mother told a Breitbart reporter that Corfman didn't have a telephone in her bedroom in 1979. That's a discrepancy with the story Corfman told the WaPo reporter; she said that when Moore called her house to ask her out in 1979, she took the call on the phone in her bedroom.

Moore's story isn't consistent with the other womens' stories. It will be interesting to hear what this new accuser says at Allred's conference today.

Seriously here. The dating high school girls is not the thing anyone is concerned about. Yeah its kinda loser behavior but let the first man who hasn't done stupid lame crap in his youth cast the first stone. The concern is the one girl, just the one, who claims sexual contact when she was 14. That's it, that's the only case that has any slightest meaning here.

I don't like guys in their 30s going after 16 year olds, that's just nasty to me. But it was legal, and as many have pointed out here, especially in the south, not exactly without precedent in human history. 600 577 Just to be clear, Judge Moore dating young women half his age is a bad thing.

Young women looking for older rich men to be their 'sugar daddy' is a good thing.

Yeah that one kind of disgusts me. Its one thing for a girl to fall for a mature, wise, older man but to prey on them specifically to get goodies and give up sexual favors for it all??
Posted by: Christopher R Taylor at November 13, 2017

As far as I can tell, and I've only been skimming this non-story, Moore was pretty much shopping for a wife. If you want a big family, and healthy kids, you start with a young wife. That was once considered axiomatic: a man established himself to the point where he could support a family, and then married a young girl, not a twice-divorced woman with three kids by different baby-daddies.

Besides, it's not like 16 is an age of dewy-eyed innocence. Maybe in Victorian times; not now. A 16-year-old girl knows what's up, even if she's not mature enough for marriage. If these girls didn't want to date him, all they had to say was no.

The left is trying to criminalize normal male desires and preferences, that's all.

Well done, Washington Post, for pretending that the ONE woman who accuses Moore of illegal behavior is accompanied by many others.
Even by the Post's account, the other women tell a completely different story and actually deny harassment, not to mention criminality.

Does Mitch believe the mother of the ONE woman, the mother that said the WaPo approached her daughter and mentioned she could get $20,000 for a book?

Does he believe the other 2 women who claim they were offered $1000 or $2000 to join in the chorus?

Why not believe THOSE women?

I'm skeptical of any claim that comes up only during a political campaign in any case. Remember John Edwards and the mistress story? Didn't buy it until there was hard proof and an admission. Because: political campaign (and National Enquirer).

__________

Moore is only saying the 14 year old's account is a lie, but he did admit in Hannity's interview he dated women that young when he was in his 30s.

Had Moore said all of it was bullshit, I would have sided with Moore, but now it's less "he said, she said" and arguing about how someone regularly dating high school girls in his 30's as a prosecutor is not a creepy predator, all the while championing social conservatism.

Surely someone else can be found to represent Alabama that has a conservative record besides Moore.

665 >>I think McConnell is a disgrace, but I don't see how losing this seat does anything but strengthen his hand as now he's going to have credibility that he should be picking our nominees.

Today is the 12th of November. The election is in exactly one month and it is likely that whomever is elected will vote on tax reform. There is no realistic alternative to Moore at this point.

We currently have a 2 vote margin in the Senate and Strange is a reliable yes. Replacing him with a Democrat threatens not just tax reform but pretty much anything getting done before the 2018 elections and if they get nothing down next year it is going to be a blood bath.

I don't see losing this election as being in McConnell's interest at all and certainly not in mine. Moore was never a favorite of mine but at this point I don't care about anything other than keeping that seat in the hands of Republicans.

674 611 That was once considered axiomatic: a man established himself to the point where he could support a family, and then married a young girl

Yeah. Great deal for the guy, not so great for the girl, usually. Men tend to die younger than women anyway, and then she's a pretty, young 30 year old widow with 3 kids. Hopefully she has his money because otherwise...
Posted by: Christopher R Taylor at November 13, 2017

Great deal for both of them. He has attractive (theoretically, anyway) young wife, plus kids; she has security and position, including during widowhood. The theory was that he would be established enough to have life insurance and plenty of dough stashed. If not, well, if she's still young enough she can marry again.

The alternative, in say the 19th century, was to stay at home and care for Mom and Dad until they croaked, at which time she might well have nothing . . . or to become a schoolteacher with, eventually, a tiny pension.

Just so you know the GOPe and the Deep State, who are both enemies of conservatives, tell you what to do on a daily basis.

If there is a candidate that they hate and revile, it's because they are terrified of him. If they set up a hit job on him, it's another sign that candidate is NOT a member of the GOPe or Deep State.

Conversely, you should assume ALL reporting on said candidate is a lie, and vote for them.

-------------------------------
On a certain level, that is true. That men want to "get laid" is not in dispute.
BUT --- and I know this is shocking --- once upon a time the word "dating" was not synonymous with "having sex." Really, it wasn't.

Did you know that NORMAL couples used to date for weeks, months, even years before having sex?
They got to know each other first!
Usually the women fell in love before surrendering. Usually the men had to establish that they were trustworthy and truly cared about the woman as a person.

Maybe Moore lived in that backward world. Men only looking to "get laid" usually don't introduce themselves to the parents and declare 'honorable intentions,' do they?
Then again, maybe he was on the prowl for dummies.
I don't know.

As I understand it, the monkey snapped his own picture. The wildlife photographer was in league with PETA, who sued for copyright rights for the monkey. When the court was about to throw it out, the photog "settled", giving the monkey a cut. They were trying to create animal rights, not to mention funding for PETA.

This is similar to the EPA encouraging tree-huggers to sue the EPA because it wants to lose. A judge then orders the EPA to do what the EPA really wanted to do in the first place, and law is created without any legislature or pesky voters involved.
