EMT 11/11/17 Epitaphs edition

I haven't lived the best of lives. Let's face it, unless you are a complete narcissist, you will have regrets in your life. Of course there are things I could have done better, and while I may not actually even try to be better every day (much less succeed), I certainly do hope to be.

I suspect that is truer for most of us than not.

There comes the day when it'll all be summed up by what you do in your last moments.

Be that on your deathbed surrounded by loved ones, or surrounded by your enemies in some field of battle, or somewhere in between and far away. I dunno, maybe Utah.

Wherever it may be, I hope to make the best of the moment, and be able to hold the gaze of those drawn near me one last time, and proudly growl to them: "At least I never voted for that sumbitch John McCain."

1 Good Morning Morons today is Saturday, November 11, 2017, veteran's day. On this day in 1919 the communist Industrial Workers of the World attacked an Armistice Day parade in Centralia, Washington, resulting in the deaths of five people.

2 Turns out one of these Moore accusers worked for Scankles. Probably all of them are paid agitators for the typical Democrap October surprise.

I thought that Obama, being a "historic first" would be "moderate" so I didn't vote in 2008. But then he started to alarm me, so I voted for Romney in 2012. If 2 terms of Obama is what it took to alarm Americans as to what they were facing, maybe it was a good thing.

___________

I tend to doubt them myself, and I don't live in AL.

I just find it a bit odd that somebody claims to "clearly remember" details of a conversation she had with a teenage friend in 1979, as the accuser's friend claimed to the WaPo reporter.

I also find it strange that none of these women were willing to come forward before now, despite the fact that Moore has been in the news, and usually for his conservative views, for many, many years. If these women had info that he was a child predator, why did they sit on it for decades?

47 You know this whole thing is an op when the nano second this turd was dumped, the usual suspects had prepared statements ready to go demanding he step aside.

And now the GOP is moving to cut off funds to his campaingn and take him off the ballot and throwing the election to the Donk.

And now they are working to figure out a way to not seat him.

And here is the bottom line, there is literally no way to get to a finding of facts about this situation.

Some women have made accusations.

Moore has denied them, even going so far as saying he never met the 14 year old.

So unless the women seek to press criminal or civil charges and or Moore inittiates a libel suite against the Post and slander and defamation suits against the women it's a he-said she-said fart that will just hang out there till some new evidence is presented on both sides.

And...

The GOP is a useless pile of dog shit.

And I hate that no neck fuck McConnel with the fury of a thousand suns because he is more than likely behind this bullshit.

Filthy piece of shit.

49 G'mornin' Horde !

Of course it's a psyop.
Their only hope is to ruin our morale, or PDT's.
Getting an actual honey badger of an ally into the Senate would boost our morale, and maybe even start breaking the inertia. That's why Roy Moore cannot be allowed to happen.

Posted by: sock_rat_eez, we are being gaslighted 24/7 at November 11, 2017 06:52 AM (Ktb8D)

50 The trough these politicians are feeding from is getting too big. Other than hitting the lottery or being lucky in the Stock Market, where else can someone sit on their ass doing basically nothing and go from "rags to riches" in eight or ten years.

There's not many people who can resist the lure of the easy money thrown their way by the lobbyists and foreign governments. I consider myself to be an honest man, but am not sure if I could turn that kind of money and power down.

Posted by: Traveling Man at November 11, 2017 06:54 AM (R5lpX)

51 So unless the women seek to press criminal or civil charges and or Moore inittiates a libel suite against the Post and slander and defamation suits against the women it's a he-said she-said fart that will just hang out there till some new evidence is presented on both sides.
__________________

It wouldn't make sense for Moore to bring a libel suit. As a public figure, it's virtually impossible for him to win. Also, it would just keep the allegations alive in the media longer.

And the women can't bring suits, and there can be no criminal prosecutions of Moore, because all the alleged conduct happened too long ago, and the statutes of limitation have long since expired.

So Moore is screwed either way. Which is how these things work, and why amoral opponents (and GOPe, but I repeat myself) love them.

69 I abstained from voting in the Presidential election in '08. As time goes by, I'm not bothered by that.

I do wish I had thrown a vote at Mittens in '12. That was less abstaining, and more with not getting my stuff together when I moved 5k miles away the last week of September. Was living out of a suitcase until the week before the election, and wasn't super excited about Romney.

Drove six hours to cast my ballot in person in '04 and '16. Wasn't going to rely on an absentee ballot in those years.

70 I can understand McConnell being unhappy about Strange losing since they poured a buttload of money into the race. But what conceivable end would there be for them to target Moore? With the likes of McCain, Collins and Murkowski in the Senate, even with a majority, a slim majority, losing Moore would make it even worse.
Moore isn't going to vote against repealing ocare or against the tax plan. They need his support.
McConnell may be a Rino, but he knows that he needs to retain his power.

Because they have been wanting to get revenge for Clinton's impleacent.

And make no mistake Trump will be impeached and convicted if the Donks have a majority in both houses.

And that is part of the GOPs plan, they need to be rid of Trump, that is why they did what they did in Alabama and why they are now attacking Bannon.

The Uniparty will not give up power, they will not accept the results of elections.

We are not voting our way out of our predicament.

84 Election 2008, I did vote for McCain.

When New Jersey came in for BO I understood the amount of wishful thinking on my part. I went to a movie to get away. I don't remember the movie except that I picked a long one.

After the movie was over I went into the lobby. CNN was on, reporting the victory. Two black girls were watching breathlessly. Well that's something. A thing that probably could not happen in any other country with a 15 or 20% minority.

I would have been less sanguine if I had known that all my fears would be realized about him willfully putting his boot on the economy. That the foreign donations were a symptom of everyone's (not just his) brazen contempt for the law. And the reverse of the one positive take-away, that race relations would be noticeably worse eight years hence.

Fuck you, BO. I suspect that history will have your number, and it won't be a participation trophy.

104 10 DIABLO Peter King says Moore must prove his innocence or step down. This stupid bent really hasn't got a clue.
________________

Somebody should ask King how exactly Moore could "prove his innocence" of conduct that supposedly happened nearly 40 years ago. He's going to find friends or colleagues from 40 years ago who are going to be able to specifically remember where Moore was on a particular date?

It's ludicrous. There is no way for Moore to defend himself against these charges. And he shouldn't have to. This is why we have statutes of limitations for crimes and civil offenses. After the passage of so many years, it's impossible to prove it one way or the other.

Somebody should also ask Peter King why he doesn't believe in the presumption of innocence. If Moore had been criminally charged, would King be demanding that he "prove his innocence"? If so, then King is clearly unfit to sit in the U.S. Senate, because he has no understanding of how the American legal system works.

People charged with a crime in this country are presumed to be innocent until/unless the charge is proved against them in a court of law. Republican candidates charged with offenses by the media/DNC criminal cabal should be entitled to no less.

121 rhennigantx - The Ruger 10/22 carbine is simple, accurate, reliable, and can't be beat as a first .22 rifle. The basic model has a wood stock (used to be walnut, now it may be birch) and can be had for under $250 new, used for less. There isn't much to go wrong with one, either. They can be accessorized to the nth degree but there's no need to.

As to .22 handguns, Ruger and Walther have fine basic models (which I can't recall the model of , but some other Moron will chime in shortly). I have a Smith Wesson 617 "kit gun", which is an aluminum J-frame (small frame) 8-shot revolver with a 3" barrel, a fiber-optic front sight and adjustable rear sight. It weighs 12oz with the full-size Hogue grips, and is a great carry piece for critters in the wilds. It's also a great first revolver, as it shares frame dimensions with the S+W models 36, 37, and 60 (.38/.357) but being a .22 is much cheaper to shoot and offers less recoil and muzzle blast than its .38/.357 cousins. Then again, it now sells for over $700 new, so you may want to try the others first.

Was fondling the Browning 1911-.22 pistols at the local gun shop recently. They're wonderful. They aren't cheap.

Also tried the Browning 1911-.380. I loved it, but can't afford to practice with .380 ammo. If they'd beef it up enough for 9mm I'd be on it like white on rice, and I wouldn't be alone. I'm sure Browning knows it could sell many more in 9mm, but there must be a reason why they don't offer it yet...

The Kimber Micro 9 is even better, but only offered in the "mini-Officer's" configuration. The Micro has been out for, what, almost 4 years in .380, and the Micro 9 for nearly two years. I would think the Micro 9 as a scaled-down Commander, with two more rounds in the grip and a 3-5/8 inch barrel (as offered in the Browning) would be one of the ultimate carry pieces if one is addicted to the 1911 platform. Kimber, are you out there?

157 President Dwight David Eisenhower:

Remember today that the old men you see driving too slowly,
misunderstanding (and perhaps disliking) how the world has changed
around them and needing help to walk or hear were tigers seventy years
ago.
They freed a continent and stopped a genocide, in many
cases before they were old enough to have finished college or drink a
beer.
They faced the worst humanity had to offer and emerged not unscathed, but victorious.
Happy Veteran's Day to those who lend perspective to our daily struggles, if we'll let them.

And the 14 year old thing...as far as I can see there is absolutley no proof what so ever.

Corfman, the accuser in the 14-yo story, has apparently also accused several ministers at various churches of making inappropriate sexual advances to her (per Zero Hedge). (Kinda curious that she's now the one being used to take down the "ten commandments" candidate.)

Corfman also has a very sketchy history. Divorced three times, multiple bankruptcies, drinking, drugs, criminal history -- not exactly a person of sterling character.

I agree King is an arse for demanding Moore prove innocence of some accusation from 40 years ago (never important enough to bring up before), details of which sound manufactured, right on time for a crucial election.

BUT presumption of innocence is a concept that applies only in the courtroom. I actually presume guilt of OJ, but I was not determining his legal consequences. There are many social constructs that "we" have built to guard against shadowy characters (MS-13 tats) even if we can't prove their guilt.

Ingraham said she had many Alabama voters call in and none were changing their vote. It MAY turn out this just boost turnout for Moore as they care about not turning the seat to someone interested in raping the country (commies and/or the swamp/mafia).

What happened in the last 30 years is what matters now (Moore as judge and other work), not something that may or may not have occurred 40 years ago, that was never bad enough to be brought up till now.

185 BUT presumption of innocence is a concept that applies only in the courtroom.
____________________

Yes, but the reason that we apply it in our legal system is that it is unfair to require somebody accused of wrongdoing to prove their innocence. And if it's unfair to do that when accusing somebody of a crime in a courtroom, then it's just as unfair to do that when accusing somebody of a crime in the media.

187 The establishment mob has more trouble controlling the House (though they still do) ... but they feel they can always make sure only their bought men have enough funding to make it into the senate.

Most were quiet as a church mouse while Hillary/Obama were committing crimes that could destroy our nation. Many were for open borders to some degree ... also insuring the ruination of America by demographic turn into a third world country. (see Europe of Los Angeles for a preview).

But they just don't care, they love to live in their bubble where all the country has to funnel money through their grifter fingers, and people pretend to worship them so they can have contracts or even military action to favor them. Influence peddling is selling America to the highest bidder, and as my now imprisoned former Governor said (about selling Obama's senate seat) ... "I've got this thing and it is fucking golden".

Especially when it is a political hit job on such an important vote. But people will vote based on evidence at hand AND whether some old accusation matters more than NOT surrendering the country to scoundrels, that are (doing far worse than) raping the whole country NOW.

The fact that establishment jerks/crooks are pushing so hard on this late attack, while openly selling out America for so long, makes me presume not innocence but guilt, of those making the loudest calls for Moore to step down (name on ballot, so it would mean the Dem/Commie/mafia wins).

What is clear is their establishment choice was rejected, and they don't want Moore in their little mafia club. In so doing they are rejecting the republic as a whole ... drain the swamp.

204 TrivialPursuer: "If these women had info that he was a child predator, why did they sit on it for decades?"

Because claims of sexual assault are the rage these days. They figure, and maybe rightly, that ANY claim can be made with essentially no risk of critique or ostracism for making a claim. The timing is so perfect that there is no effin' way it's true. And given how threatened the Democrats and the GOP are by genuine outsiders, they'll stop at nothing to deny swamp draining. And I'm with others who think the GOP is more likely the instigator of this smear campaign just like Free Beacon was with preliminary anti-Trump research using Fusion GPS. MAGA and Breitbart/Bannon HAVE to be seen by the swamp-dwellers as evil or else the swamp will lose more power, legislative seats, and payola.

Nov 11 used to be Armistice Day (still is Remembrance Day in the
Commonwealth) - to commemorate the ned of WWI. And just to show how
stupid politicians are the sides agreed to an armistice as much as a
