Good Morning Morons today is Sunday, November 5, 2017. On this day in 1916 the so-called Everett massacre took place in Everett, Washington as political differences lead to a shoot-out between the Industrial Workers of the World (communist labor group) organizers and local police. 7 people were killed and 20 wounded.

Bigger schools, bigger school budgets are part of the issue. The days of neighborhood one-room school houses are over. It's big business in every county. Schools are the biggest employers, take half of local taxes, and employ mostly the Left. To get students to school without clogging traffic, school busses are needed. Besides the capital costs of a school bus, you need more staff. Due to federal regulations, hiring school bus drivers gets harder and harder. So in big districts, there are 4 different bells when schools start, allowing the same school bus to be used multiple times a day. This is the long pole in the tent. Students and student outcomes are just not that important, except as a funding excuse, for school systems. Posted by: NaCly Dog at November 05, 2017 07:51 AM (hyuyC) 80

I don't have a problem with Daylight Saving Time per se (without it, the sun would be up around 4 am in June/early July and set before 8-- makes sense to shift that extra hour of daylight to the end of the day) but I would like to see the schedule restored to what it was years ago -- turn clocks ahead in early/mid April and turn them back in late October. The current schedule starts it way too soon (mid March) and drags it on too late, resulting in way too many mornings when it's still dark at 7 am.

An auspicious day here at casa de Monet.
The "free" dishwasher i picked up from an area homeowner gets installed, or at least attempted installation. He was remodeling and did an upgrade and just wanted this one gone. It looks pretty cheaply made though previous owner says it ran just fine. (uh huh) After spending $35 in parts for new supply and drain lines - recommended by my installer buddy helper - here's hoping it does actually work. The old one went tits up a few years back and with 4 teens in the house it has been hard to see the sink most days. Posted by: Count de Monet at November 05, 2017 08:19 AM (QLvwG) 113

Posted by: NaCly Dog at November 05, 2017 07:51 AM (hyuyC) Back in the seventies in the little rural h.s. I went to, the students drove the school buses. I'm talking curvy mountain roads, half or more of which were unpaved. Of course, you had to be at least 16 with clean driving record and pass a stringent test. H.S. and elementary school were in same building so teenagers were safely driving everyone's kids to school Posted by: Traveling Man at November 05, 2017 09:05 AM (R5lpX) 206

Richard Dreyfuss' Son Claims Kevin Spacey Groped Him While His Father Was in the Room
Dreyfuss wrote that as a shy teenager, he admired Spacey and mistook some of his advances as friendly behavior. Dreyfuss only became suspicious of Spacey when he sat down next to him and placed his hand on his thigh as the three of them went over the script. Dreyfuss made several attempts to move to a different seat and get away from Spacey, but the House of Cards star relentlessly followed him and slid his hand onto Dreyfuss' thigh. I wasn't actually referencing Moron support of Felonia, of House Clinton. In my case, I have to ask myself, can I support and provide positive commentary concerning the Bush clan. And while in the past, I have had a soft spot in my heart for both, once a person decides that there desire was to see Hillary serve as POTUS, by either actively doing for her, or refusing to cast a vote for her opponent, that moves me into the "I can no longer look upon you positively" column for those individuals. 'Antifa Civil War' on November 4 Was Really Just a Few Protests Against Trump
The so-called November 4 protests, which took place in cities across the country today, hosted by a nascent protest group called Refuse Fascism, will likely be remembered more for what they did not look like, than what they did. Far-right conspiracies had morphed the event into a fantasy world of unrealistic expectations. a little more than 300 people showed up, according to NYPD officers tasked with securing it. Over a thousand people had previously committed to going to the November 4 protests on Facebook, and roughly five thousand had pledged interest So because the event was a total flop Newsweak is now trying to pretend it was all just right wing paranoia over the whole thing Posted by: TheQuietMan at November 05, 2017 09:26 AM (SiINZ) 253
