FBI, NYPD, and Even the London Metropolitan Police Now Probing Harvey Weinstein

New York London Paris Munich...

The Trump Administration ordered the DOJ to to investigate Weinstein.

EXCLUSIVE: Trump's Justice Department moves on Harvey Weinstein and orders FBI to open probe over fears he will 'do a Polanski'

The FBI has opened an investigation into Harvey Weinstein for alleged sex crimes, DailyMail.com has exclusively learned on Wednesday

Three women, including Actress Asia Argento and Lucia Evans, have come forward and claimed the producer forced himself on them sexually

...

The NYPD has also ordered detectives to search for evidence against Weinstein

Weinstein was due to head to Europe for rehab but instead traveled to Arizona

There were fears of a Roman Polanski-style situation, where he dodges prosecution in the U.S

The NYPD is reopening the case file on Weinstein, looking into other victims.

The New York Police Department told Fox News Thursday that they have opened an investigation into sexual assault accusations against Harvey Weinstein stemming from an alleged 2004 incident.

"Based on information referenced in published news reports the NYPD is conducting a review to determine if there are any additional complaints relating to the Harvey Weinstein matter," J. Peter Donald, of the NYPD’s DCPI told the outlet.

...

“The NYPD is investigating an allegation of sex assault from 2004,” NYPD added.

Although no one is saying what sex assault from 2004 they're investigating, the Daily Caller recaps the details of Lucia Evans' complaint that she was raped, while in college, in New York in 2004 by Harvey Weinstein.

I'm not sure what the London Met police are investigating, but several women have made complaints about Weinstein in England.

The Metropolitan Police, meanwhile, said it had been passed the allegation of sexual assault by Merseyside Police.

A Merseyside Police statement said it "can confirm a report was received at 8.40am on Wednesday (11 October 2017) of an alleged sexual assault in the London area in the 1980s""

The investigations come as more women publicly accuse Weinstein of inappropriate behaviour, sexual harassment or assault.

British actress Kate Beckinsale is one of the latest, saying she had an encounter with him aged 17, at the Savoy Hotel in London.

I looked it up: the Savoy is in the City of Westminster (part of London), and not Merseyside or Liverpool, so I don't know what that has to do with Beckinsdale. Probably nothing. The article just seems to mention various women who've made other complaints about Weinstein in England, but none with a specific connection to an 80s incident at the Savoy.

More on Hurricane Harvey:

Beckinsdale recounted that Weinstein harassed her, and then later asked if he'd harassed her -- he'd forgotten who he had and hadn't harassed.

The actress, who starred in The Weinstein Co. titles Serendipity and The Aviator, took to Instagram to recall when she met with the Hollywood producer at the Savoy Hotel when she was 17 years old. She assumed it would be a business discussion in a conference room, but she was then sent up to a hotel room, with Weinstein greeting her in his bathrobe.

"I was incredibly naive and young, and it did not cross my mind that this older, unattractive man would expect me to have any sexual interest in him," she said. "After declining alcohol and announcing that I had school in the morning, I left, uneasy but unscathed."

"A few years later he asked me if he had tried anything with me in that first meeting. I realized he couldn't remember if he had assaulted me or not," she continued.

The Weinstein Company itself has known about Weinstein's payoffs of women since 2015 (at least that early, I'd say), when Weinstein's lawyer David Boies disclosed "three or four settlements" when negotiating for a new contract for Harvey Weinstein. They wound up giving him the contract; that has PR and legal implications for him.

Anthony Bourdain, currently dating Weinstein victim Asia Argento, expressed disappointment with the evasiveness and tepidness of Hillary Clinton's "shocked and appalled" act regarding Weinstein, and her loyal harpies attacked him a bunch.

Weinstein accuser Rose McGowan got suspended from twitter for unknown reasons, thought it might be due to her attacks on the Weinstein Company board of directors for enabling this.

Twitter and NBC seem very protective of Weinstein and Weinstein associates for some reason.

And this is just weird: Old hardleft goat Ed Asner was on MSNBC to talk about the Weinstein matter and workplace sexism, and not once but twice asked Chris Jansing for a kiss.

10 So Weinstein's company did pay out "hush" money. Wonder if this came under a liability insurance policy or out of the till?

If it came out of the till -you know -to keep it very quiet -- How much does Disney know since it own's at least part of the company? And wouldn't Disney have to disclose this with their SEC filings in some way? They are legal risks which are substantial - so if I understand how SEC filings work - there has to be disclosure.

Something similar happened when I was working as an artist. A guy saw my artwork and asked me to come to his house to discuss commissioning some ads for his business. I got there and it was really obvious he thought it was a date and that there was going to be a happy ending...for him.

I was stunned and really did my best to stay chill. He seemed like the least likely suspect - an old balding short friendly dude.

51 This is hard for me to possibly defend a slimeball like Weinstein, but aren't we mixing up "pathetic and disgusting" behavior with assault and rape?

If Weinstein dangled "I'll make you a movie star" to a woman to get her to sleep with him, that's obviously low and might be sexual harassment (if the person doesn't actually work for him is it sexual harassment?) but to me "rape" and "assault" are much different things.

It's almost the equivalent of a woman trying to be a gold digger but doesn't actually close the deal.

Once Jeffrey Epstein was able to escape real justice, I have a difficult time believing anyone with power & connections & money really is vulnerable.

The only difference is, as far as I know, Trump wasn't in this sleaze like past presidents, neither literally nor figuratively. No campaign donations to his Prez run to compromise him.

Yes. Multiple people were charged with crimes and at least two people pled guilty to child endangerment.

Michigan State is facing similar issues involving a university doctor who worked with women on the athletics department, primarily the gymnasts. The allegations are that the university was notified as far back as in 1997 that he had sexually assault women sent to him for treatment and the school hushed it up. I believe around 20 women have come forward so far.

I don't think that's true. The environment is right for this stuff to come out now but this went on for decades because Weinstein had so many politicians in his pocket nobody was going to touch him, not even if a woman came forward with a complaint of rape.

If he gets elected he likely will also harass and maliciously prosecute the miniscule bit of anti-leftism that rears its head in the City of Brotherly Commies. And turn a blind eye to antifa hostility and violence. I'm so glad I left the city, and that was when it was still a normal donk town, not commietown on steroids.

Medusa b/c of snake hairdo & her ugliness.

So pulling one thread & undermining one power structure ruins another. And then the whole take over of America thru sanctimonious BS & money & power takes a major hit.

Did you guys see the TMobile hack description? TMo left an API open to the world that only required a telephone number as input. Then it spat out all sorts of secret information about the owner of that phone number. Additionally, it gave you a number you can use to clone a phone and see/hear all SMS messages and voice calls.

Story of how Rickles met Sinatra. Both at a club, Rickles with a girl: his date goes to the powder room and Rickles goes over to Sinatra's table. He says "Mister Sinatra I'm a huge fan and I was wondering if you could help me out. I'm with a girl and if you could come over and say hi, it would really impress her." Sinatra is a decent guy and he says he'll help.

So the girl comes back, and over walks Sinatra to say hi. he starts up and Rickles says "Do you mind, I'm trying to get to know this girl!"

Totally wrong.

Not even close.

In a 'wave' election year for Republicans we tossed out the sitting (R) Governor of the state for his participation in the whole sordid affair.

I told people, over and over here, the filth was at the top of the administration -- that they had a leftist administration -- and the Penn State hate rained down on me like a torrent.

Don't fall prey to the easy decision. The filth was at the top. Not some ancient football coach. That was the story the left wing media wanted -- and got. But it was the wrong story. With the wrong villain.

251 Someone compared Weinstein to Trump up thread.

I think the difference is pretty clear.

The democrats got ahold of the access hollywood tape of Trump saying, crudely, it was good to be a powerful man. Then they lined up a bunch of women accusing Trump of various things.

It turned out some of those women were caught lying. Their star witness turned out to be an honest to goodness mafiosa who was mad at Trump for calling her fat. The other ones just kind of gave up when they saw there was no big payday upcoming.

In Weinstein's case we have police recordings of him admitting to it, and the person that kicked off the story is a left wing actress who has, at least, no political axe to grind. And this has led to a bunch of other women who same to have circumstantial proof, at least, of the charges.

In all honesty, they is much closer to when things starting coming out about Bill Clinton.

Lots of people don't understand that the judge has to sign off on the plea agreement, and it's not a done deal until the judge does. In some cases, the judges won't go along. Doesn't mean the perp has been denied justice, just means the judge's version of justice differs from the prosecutor's.

Rickles: "Frank Sinatra once save me from the mob. I was being
beaten up in a parking lot, and he came out and said, that's enough."

Here's another, from a 1965 roast of Rickles, by Alan King:
"Rickles career as insult artist to the stars took an upward turn during the 1950s when one evening at a night club he was working, in walked Frank Sinatra. And Don in his usual charming manner endeared himself to Mr. Sinatra, with such lines as "Remember the good old days Frank, when you had a voice?" Sinatra and his pal Jilly Rizzo roared with laughter. Afterwards Frank rushed backstage to Don's dressing room, put his arms around him and held him tightly--while Jilly punched him in the mouth."

there was a spectrum of behavior here over the course of decades. Some of it was tawdry on the part of both parties, some of it was sexual harassment and some of it was sexual assault.

He was very manipulative, and used his female executives as cover and also got the agents of the actresses involved as well. Don't forget the agents had a financial interest in the actresses "success" as well. There were some actresses who participated willingly. Some clearly were not consensual. Its a sick business. That's the point. Its a sick business that is holding the reins of our culture.

I'm thinking more along the lines that someone on the inside of the Democrat/Media alliance decided there was an advantage to be had in taking out Harvey now (discredit the Clintons? Lots of guesses) but instead, they have unwittingly done a Sampson and pulled the Hollywood Temple down onto all their heads. They could't realize that even though it looked huge and impressive, it was just a castle made of sand.

Yep, there was a deal between the prosecutor and Polanski's lawyer. The Judge refused to sign off. Polanski skipped the country.

one thing different now is the justice department, while still full of deep state Obama/Hillary loyalists, is under new management.

While some desperately try to take down that management (Rosenstein Mueller, et. al), perhaps the iron fist of coercion is off some of the lower level investigators. Hillary didn't get her BleachBit Kit into every hard drive, and the more honest in the IC are opening the closets with the skeletons falling out.

Of course the Hillary/Bill show still haunt NY/DC, but taking out the subordinates first might make their prosecution easier. And breaking the mainframes of the propaganda machines also helps.

Posted by: Maritime at October 12, 2017 05:04 PM (lKmt3)

The casting couch is as old as Hollywood. Estelle Taylor, Jack Dempsey's second wife and a silent film star in her own right, bitterly complained about it in an interview when she was talking about her early career (in the early 'teens). To her credit, Taylor didn't play along but it cost her major roles. She was a fairly formidable woman, nobody's play toy.

But to your point, I don't think this sort of thing qualifies as consensual sex. It's more like sexual extortion: either do what I want or I take away your livelihood. That's coercion. Coercion is not an aspect of 'consensual'.

And then there's "matress girl", the Rolling Stone story that fell apart, the Duke LaCrosse team, etc

Do I think Weinstein crossed over from manipulator to rape? Probably, but just don't jump on every rape accusation because you don't like the person in question.

Yeah, a whole gamut of behavior from consensual to coercive to assault - and refusing to recognize that Weinstein seems to have engaged at every level of the spectrum and permitting the elision to the coercive on up *only* is both foolhardy and obnoxious.

I get that "sex regret" is a terrifying thing, white-knighting is a systemic problem, and that plenty of these people have entered a turnaround on what was consensual at the time. *this does not mean that the man was not *also* a predator*. Evidence so far seems to suggest that he was.

Well thanks but honestly I've done it for years. And so do millions of businessmen and businesswomen the world over.

First, we aren't talking about a Motel 6. When senior executives travel or are attending conferences it is very popular to rent out suites, multiple rooms including conference rooms, to host meetings. They are far more private and convenient than sitting in a hotel lobby or renting out a conference room in the hotel which is not only extra expensive but not really very private.

It really isn't that unusual at certain levels.

380 As Breitbart said, politics is downstream from culture. Hollywood has a huge influence in shaping, redefining our culture (see how they took out Palin, how they normalize something like SSM leading up to legal push for it). We need Hollywood to be brought down.

The added benefit is that the Democrat party loses a lot of their big money donors AND the ability to use the people who make them look cool. Just look at how much Hillz relied on celebrities on the campaign trail.

381 I have a lot more sympathy for a somewhat dim 15-year-old girl trying to be an actress, alone with a powerful producer, terrified and without any support. Yeah she shouldn't do it, but once you do a single time, you no longer can claim innocence or that you don't want to again as strongly. Now that awful voice inside you is saying what a piece of trash you are and what difference does it make now, and just get it over with and be strong so you can get that part, and so on.

Older women? Women who knew better and had clout? women with pull in the industry and a voice? Those women who did and said nothing. The hell with them.

That may be, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't protect yourself from any possibility of an accusation. And not necessarily from the person you would be meeting with.

Mike Pence had that rule for a good reason. My husband will have a breakfast meeting (in public) with a woman, a lunch meeting (in public) with a woman, but never a dinner meeting with a woman unless there were other people at the same table. You don't even want to give a hint of impropriety.

It's not worth the risk for the convenience.

HW: "hay babe com up to room"
Idiot/Succubus: "OKA!"

423 I've had business meetings in hotel restaurants, meeting rooms, lobby but definitely no hotel room.

The dude has this stuff down to a science. He probably never said "hotel room". He probably had a female assistant call the actor and say, "Mr Weinstein would like to meet you, we'll send a car by to pick you up."

Then the female assistant would meet her as the car drove up and talk about how excited they were to meet, how Mr Weinstein had great things to say about them, etc etc etc. Every braincell in these women's heads were screaming "This is my big shot!" They probably were barely noticing where they were going.

The assistant then leads them into a large suite that has no bed in sight. It basically looks like an office/sitting room. Then just as Weinstein appears in his bathrobe, the assistant disappears.

Trap sprung.

All y'all "She was invited up to his hotel room" people are making up a story in your head that is black and white and a very clear trap. This guy had DECADES to perfect his game.

There are lots of ways to prevent these kinds of abuses, if people are serious about preventing them -- which Weinstein's companies obviously were not. But a company like Disney damn sure should have been.

Exactly. Man in power forcing women to do his sexual bidding or suffer consequences/in order to gain benefits. Textbook. And he crossed the line too, my guess is often, with boys and girls of all ages.

Where else on the 'net are there so many people who can play the part of Devil's Advocate so well?

We need to hear the other side of the story. Somewhere, between the two extreme interpretations of current events, there is common ground that we all share as human beings. We need to struggle to find a bipartisan compromise solution to these problems where everyone gets a little of what they want without having to sacrifice morality or personal integrity.

That is what made America great, and we can make America great again if we just try to set aside our extremist differences and search for a common, acceptable to all, solution to these serious issues that affect us all. That is who we are as Americans.

You obviously have a strong sense of self - it's sad and surprising how many girls today are raised without that, and who will then fall for anything they're told by someone attractive or powerful.

I have a niece who is beautiful, everyone agrees that she could be Sandra Bullock's double. She recently lost a job because she was working for some man of middle eastern descent, and he asked her to come over to his house to work on some things, and then he gave her some wine, and they laughed and talked, and then she was shocked shocked when he tried to pull her pants off next. At least she left, but of course she was fired after that. (he owned the company)

She couldn't make any complaint to the police - "you mean you went inside his house, after hours, laughed and joked and had drinks with him, and THEN got mad???" And everyone who knows her says "girl how could you NOT see that coming?" But she honestly never realized it was going to happen.

She also had abuse issues when she was a preteen, and it did something to her head. It always does.

Sorry, but 'textbook' harassment by definition is not ONE SOLITARY meeting. Harassment is REPEATED instances.

You simply can not harass a person the first time. The first time is free. The other person says 'yes' or 'no'. If 'yes' -- no problem.

If 'no, pass 'GO' collect $200. Just don't do it to the same person ever again.

477 Yes, and these production companies could have easily avoided this kind of crap by just instituting rules that the actress must be accompanied to all meetings by her agent or her lawyer or a parent, or whatever, and requiring that all meetings between the company reps and the actress take place in the production company's offices (and not in hotel rooms, private homes, etc.).

There are lots of ways to prevent these kinds of abuses, if people are serious about preventing them -- which Weinstein's companies obviously were not. But a company like Disney damn sure should have been.

This! A thousand times, this!

Disney is just as bad nowadays. What a gaggle of control freaks, even at the local level down here. 518 I can't believe he forgot about harassing Beckinsale. I get a boner thinking about driving on the same streets she does.

519 They need to call Barnaby Jones and Detective Columbo out of retirement. Or maybe McMillan. He could get INto the bottom of this mystery, surely.

520 Kate Beckinsel noted he was "unattractive," I guess it would have been just awesome to her if he was attractive.

521 Oi, 'Arvey! Just tell 'em you're Muslim, bruv! Sorts ev'ryfing roit out.

522 You forgot Canon. Frank Canon will solve the mystery and then cook everyone a gourmet meal. He was also the master of knocking someone out with one karate chop.

3am every night on ME-TV. The other night Cannon knocked a guy out underwater with a chop to the center of the back. So powerful even with the resistance of the water.

523 Boy, this Weinstein was something else! Good thing we caught him and cleaned up Hollywood and the Democrat Party....

524 What about locking Hillary up?

Posted by: torabora at October 12, 2017 06:36 PM (6dFYM)

525 It seems like a waste of money to pay for sex addiction therapy when Weinstein could simply convert to Islam and then everyone would give him a pass for whatever perversions he chooses to enjoy.

The police in England sure as hell wouldn't be interested in anything he had done.

526 Yeah I wondered at that unattractive quotation. So if for example someone who looked like George Clooney or "insert your version of super good looking guy here" had behaved this way with all of these stars would there be a similar outcome?

Not saying he isn't a dirty dirty pervert though.

527 "A Merseyside Police statement said it "can confirm a report was received at 8.40am on Wednesday (11 October 2017) of an alleged sexual assault in the London area in the 1980s""

Now if Weinstein converts to Islam, all will be forgiven.

530 Winestain is a distraction from the botched ISIS slaughter in Las Vegas. Where are the films?
