What They Promised: Smoking Gun Proof of Trump-Russia Collusion
What They Walked That Back To: Russia Bought Some FaceBook Ads
What It Is Now: Russian Ads Promoted Black Lives Matter

So, the media has departed entirely from the "Russia promoted Trump" Narrative, and is now settling on the "Russia sought to sow discord and chaos in the US" Narrative, which is, coincidentally, what many conservatives said they were doing -- as Russians have done throughout history.

But the leftist media doesn't know that, because history began for them January 2008, and Russia only became a hostile enemy state November 9, 2016.

So, here go: Russian ads promoted Black Lives Matter "protests" in Ferguson and Baltimore.

Strange -- they seem to have been targeting an audience that generally hews to the political and social left! What a change from their past 70 years of subversions.

At least one of the Facebook ads bought by Russians during the 2016 presidential campaign referenced Black Lives Matter and was specifically targeted to reach audiences in Ferguson, Missouri and Baltimore, sources with knowledge of the ads told CNN.

Ferguson and Baltimore had gained widespread attention for the large and violent protests over police shootings of black men. The decision to target the ad in those two cities offers the first look at how accounts linked to the Russian government-affiliated troll farm known as the Internet Research Agency used geographically targeted advertising to sow political chaos in the United States, the sources said.

Facebook has previously said that roughly one-quarter of the 3,000 ads bought by the agency were geographically targeted, but it has not revealed any specific locations. Facebook has also not revealed which demographic groups and interest groups were targeted by the ads.

Given that they haven't revealed it, let me take a wild flying guess and say it sought to target left-leaning antifa and BAMN types. Because, if it was targeting White Nationalists, per the preferred Ruling Caste Narrative, they'd've just proclaimed it from the rooftops.

The Black Lives Matter ad appeared on Facebook at some point in late 2015 or early 2016, the sources said. The sources said it appears the ad was meant to appear both as supporting Black Lives Matter but also could be seen as portraying the group as threatening to some residents of Baltimore and Ferguson.

Nice save -- the ad superficially appears to support BLM, but it "could" be seen as "threatening" to some.

Kind of like Black Lives Matter protests are intended to be, and in fact routinely so, no Russian encouragement needed.

In fact, had you even suggested that such exhortations to violence were Russia-directed propaganda before, you'd have been called a conspiracy theorist by the leftist media.

But then the leftist media learned to stop worrying and love conspiracy theories.

New descriptions of the Russian-bought ads shared with CNN suggest that the apparent goal of the Russian buyers was to amplify political discord and fuel an atmosphere of incivility and chaos, though not necessarily to promote one candidate or cause over another.

By the way: Turns out the Red Peril we've heard so very much about this past almost-a-year-now was somewhere between $100,000 and $150,000 in FaceBook ads.

$150,000 wouldn't even buy you a Plus One at a Hillary Clinton speech about the great virtues of selling uranium to Russia-dominated groups.

After 11 months of this lunacy -- this is what you have?

Conceding conservative media critics were right, but pretending that this somehow vindicates your wild narratives about collusion and rigged elections?

74 Party Hints with Veronica Smalls

(Cut to Veronica in the 'Party Hints' set - a chintzy kitchen.)

Veronica (Eric Idle): Hello, Last week on 'Party Hints' I showed you how to make a small plate of goulash go round twenty-six people, how to get the best out of your canapes, and how to unblock your loo. This week I'm going to tell you what to do if there is an armed communist uprising near your home when you're having a party.

Well obviously it'll depend how far you've got with your party when the signal for Red Revolt is raised. If you're just having preliminary aperitifs - Dubonnet, a sherry or a sparkling white wine - then the guests will obviously be in a fairly formal mood and it will be difficult to tell which are the communist agitators. So the thing to do is to get some cloth and some bits of old paper, put it down on the floor and shoot everybody. This will deal with the Red Menace on your own doorstep.

If you're having canapes, as I showed you last week, or an outdoor barbecue, then the thing to do is to set fire to all houses in the street. This will stir up anti-communist hatred and your neighbours will be right with you as you organize counter-revolutionary terror.

So you see, if you act promptly enough, any left-wing uprising can be dealt with by the end of the party. Bye.

76 Um, the most absurd distortions of that report weren't even touched on, ace.

First, ads supporting (or even mentioning) BLM, targeted at B'more and Ferguson, cannot possibly "sow chaos". Their only possible effect - and it is utterly implausible that anything like this would have *any* meaningful impact - would be to boost black turnout. Which helps always, and only, Dems, and in this case Hillary.

Second, all the chaos and discord and hate and violence had already been "sown" - by black residents of those two locales (with lots of outsiders, pros, who were seen at many similar situations that year. Tremendously abetted by a crudely racist president and attorney general and DOJ (and in B'more by a crudely racist DA).

The current Beltway "elite" is so stupid, it's hard to say whether they're being disengenuous or they really actually believe that Russia, or its predecessor the USSR, could affect US national elections (other than by their national policies or actions on major issues). I'm leaning towards "they actually believe it"; this is supported by the absurd "outrage!" almost every one of them displayed when briefed by the august "intel community" on this "interference!!" in the election. Idiots.

130 Mueller Mueller Mueller.

He's got a boss - Rosenstein.

Sure, it appears Rosenstein - as one would almost guess for anyone in this era who is "universally respected" and gets near a unanimous Senate confirmation - didn't even follow the relevant statute in appointing Mueller. But how about doing his job now, by ensuring Mueller follows his very narrow mandate - connections between the Trump campaign and the Russian govt.?

That ridiculous concept was already "investigated" and settled before Mueller was appointed - so what is there to investigate, especially now?

Army Pvt. Chelsea Manning, who was sentenced to prison for leaking classified documents and subsequently freed by President Barack Obama, inspired West Point graduate and communist Spenser Rapone to infiltrate the military.

In a Reddit post regarding Manning, Rapone spelled out some of his motivations for remaining in the military and exactly what he wanted to accomplish while serving as a second lieutenant in the 2nd Combat Brigade Team, 10th Mountain Division. Those motivations included Manning's decision to leak national security documents to WikiLeaks.

That sounds somewhat plausible.

Still, when you analyze the speech he says that there is a lot at stake in this election, and that stopping the liberals who are degrading our country's heritage is important. And he mentions some black marks about the Clintons.

In fact, he made the same argument of voting against Hillary, and how we can't let her become president that was the bulk of the argument on the right. He just did not--at that time--endorse the candidate.

I said the next day that I trusted him to stick to his word and endorse Trump. And eventually he saw his way to it. As he eventually endorsed the president, he kept to his word.

Trump got some mileage out of it as well. He let Cruz get up there and give a non-endorsing concession speech, and turned the tables by turning his back.

Posted by: Soothsayer -- Fake Commenter at September 27, 2017 08:36 PM (czg0O)

No. Politically it was a stupid move, because he failed to have his finger on the pulse of the country, and to realize that Trump just might pull this off.

My family subscribed uniformly to the Received Wisdom that Trump would be buried.

I did not. I didn't think he'd necessarily win, but I thought he had a shot, maybe a good shot. My family thought I was crazy, but then I've been around the track a lot more than they have.

So basically my political instincts are better than Ted Cruz's, and he's a professional politician. So his political instincts suck donkey balls, as events have proven.

For the Supreme Court, fine. As a candidate for elected office? Nope.

And he did in fact encourage the legislature to pass a bill banning the type of John Doe investigations to be used in political cases and they did and he signed it into law.

So there you go. He has actually gone further than Trump on this issue in Wisconsin. But Trump has time to catch up. Let's see if he does.

I remain a believer in Meremortal's analysis: no way out.

And speaking of this, it's nice to see the racist component fading - the Ravens' anthem singer (guess that heritage) quit due to the *fans'* (!) reactions, NOT the anthem stunts, and the black caucus of the MI legislature wants the scalp of the state police chief, who called the "protesters" "degenerates" (lol).

Actually, it matters quite a bit. Wisconsin is obviously an important swing state and state where Walker survived a very national recall that the Dems poured millions into. He was the first governor to survive a recall election... ever.

Let's not forget that Wisconsin is the birthplace of the modern progressive movement and Walker's union busting ways are turning that place around. If we had a few more Walkers in a few more turnable states we would be in much better shape as a country. I'm sure Trump is appreciative of his help winning the state.

Yea, he flamed out in the presidential race this time bigly which was disappointing but he's still young and a very solid governor if not a national figure yet.

And perhaps we owe a Trump presidency to his ability to tame Wisconsin and get that state started in the right direction--unless it was the case that the dawn raids of Walker supporters and the John Doe warrants didn't already turn WI voters off to be in a position to vote for the opposite party of that abuse.

If that was the case, Trump needed Walker to be pushing hard enough against the establishment that they would try something so un-American as raiding the homes of the supporters of political opponents and acting like supporting the opposition candidate was a crime.

Marines are huge compared to the professional soldiers of other MODERN armies. Compared to people almost 2000 years ago, it would be a greater discrepancy than the movie 300!

Plus, how many people do you really have to shoot to get your point across. A basic load is 210 bullets per rifleman. One guy walks out, picks off a person or two, or maybe just one massive volley. Should do the trick.

According to video obtained by Campus Reform, a beach ball -- yes, a beach ball!! -- frightened students so much they called the cops to stop a free speech event which used the inflatable toy as a prop. Campus police told the organizers of the Turning Point USA/Young Americans for Liberty event that they had received "multiple complaints" that the beach ball was scaring students.

Indeed. Trump's use of the term "SOB" was used as most everyone uses the term, as merely derogatory, and not meant literally - so it's use is neither racist or sexist. It's obvious by the left spelling it out for the snowflakes instead of quoting Trump's "S.O.B." Had Trump actually meant for a term to be taken literally, Trump would of probably said the term 'bastard' in accurately referring to Kaepat-a-dick (& probably about 90% of the players too;-)

In the 90s it was common for lib cities to proudly declare themselves "Sanctuary Cities". But when pushed in an official capacity, it brought out dissemblers like Rahm Emmanuel, saying "I don't really know what a 'Sanctuary City' is" a couple of months before California proudly proclaims itself a "Sanctuary State".

Some dissembly required.

How many Marines are we talking about? In the limit, one Marine vs. the entire Roman Empire? And are we talking about Marines with modern weaponry, or gladii?
Posted by: Deplorable Jay Guevara at September 27, 2017 09:22 PM (SRKgf)

I don't know that either. The original comment had to do with some unknown number of Marines being transported to ancient Rome.

I assumed that they would be cut off from their modern supply lines. I further assumed that it would be a small number of Marines vs. the entire Roman Army.

Hence my pessimism.

689 >>How can the Pledge of Allegiance be a lie? I mean, maybe someone doesn't want to say it, but it's a lie?

They think the country is a lie. I've seen many placards claiming America Was Never Great. It is the legacy of the Obama years.

Obama was the most anti-American president in my lifetime. Maybe ever. He never stopped lecturing us on how awful we have been to minorities and his lectures didn't stop at the borders. He did it all around the world and made a point of hammering it home in front of the UN.

Obama, the always community agitator, wanted to make to the black community believe that all of their problems where the result of an evil and largely unrepentant white population. The left will never admit this but it was obvious to everyone and we are going to pay for this for a while. And white liberals are all to happy to keep this lie alive because they think the country is evil as well.

Once you think that America is evil and a country that was never great it's easy to make the leap that all national symbols are equally evil and lies.

Most of the greatest battles were really about the General being daring when he needed to be- and the opposing generals not understanding what the heck they (the great general) was doing.

Caesar at Alesia- Lets besiege this town. 'General there is a massive force of Gauls coming to attack our rear!' 'All righty, lets build a second set of fortifications around the seigeworks and fight in between the two armies!'

Lee at Chancellorsville- Let's split our army a few times! They'll never see it coming!

I agree. But two points.

1) Sessions is Rosenstein's superior.
2) I was just laying out a line of argument I think Sessions could legitimately use: You say that there was something I should recuse myself for because of a second, undisclosed meeting with Kislyak. That would only make sense in a context of Trump personnel colluding with Russians. Without that collusion, the idea that a Senator forgetting a meeting with a Russian diplomat as chair of (??)--the second meeting set up by the Obama White House, by the way--(I would add snark here, but I don't think that's JS' style) is hardly significant of anything unless a wider pattern of collusion can be established. It's in the interest of uncovering that pattern that Mr. Mueller was appointed. I will not hinder his investigations in any form as long as he keeps it to this suggested matter.

If the Russian angle is the important thing to investigate then investigate that. If it proves--as it is proving right now--to be smoke and hype, there is little Sessions should have recused himself for.

There is no doubt that the media and the Dems will shriek like pod people when he steps in. But we shrieked when Holder said and did various things, and it didn't amount to anything.

I would make Congress try to impeach me. But I think the cameras would call in sick that day. Because I would make the conversation hinge on the point that if there is still a substantial implication of Russian meddling, THAT'S what Mueller was appointed for and THAT'S what he should be investigating. And THAT'S what I'm not opposing.
