The Morning Rant

talking ape.jpg
"It's hard to believe that this country was founded by men who thought that the people's liberty had a higher priority than the government's interests. People don't realize this until a SWAT team comes pounding on their door at 4am because they helped raise money for the wrong candidate."

(You can read about the incident in Wisconsin GP is referring to here.)

Boobs on CNN:

Love Trumps Hate Part MCCXXVII

Last week I mentioned a lawyer who got fired for making a vile tweet about Molly DeVos. I speculated he could probably find a progressive law firm that would hire him, and it looks like this firm in San Francisco would be a good fit for him:

trump - law office.jpg
This isn't a photoshop. Their website indicates they handle a lot of medical marijuana cases. Also, they "meant every word" of the sign.

The firm's slogan is "Defenders of Justice and Liberty". And by "justice and liberty", I think they mostly mean weed.

Diversity is Strength!

Hillary Is Literally Hitler. No, Really:

hillary - the greater good.jpg
I know I've mentioned this before, but have you morons read the 25-point platform of the Nazi Party? If you take out all of the German-nationalistic stuff, you pretty much have the 2016 Democratic Party platform.

I still can't get over the cover photo of the book the Clinton-Kaine campaign published to promulgate their campaign platform:

hillary - stronger together.jpg

Look at it. "Stronger Together"? You mean, stronger like a bunch of sticks tied together? Really? And Kaine's giving a full-on Nazi salute there. What were they thinking? I can only imagine if they found a photo of Trump holding his arm out like that. CNN would have to go into crisis intervention en masse.

Another photo of Sister Mary Chainsaw:

She really does remind me of those formidable old-school nuns who terrorized me in Catholic primary school. They didn't have the budget for chainsaws, but one item of their standard issue was a heavy rosary they could twirl around like numchucks, and don't you dare get caught talking in class, because whap!

Unlike many other Catholic grade schools, the one I attended did not have capital corporal punishment, but that didn't stop an angry nun from yanking you by the ear, the hair, or by your shirt collar. In the 3rd and 4th grade, I was classified as a Disciplinary Problem, who has a Smart Mouth, who Disrupts Class and who Always Wastes His Time, so I experienced all of this first hand. And let me tell you, you haven't gone to Catholic school until you've had a furious nun grab a handful of your shirt collar up around the back of your neck and perp walk you to the principal's office.

Dumb Tweet of the Week(end):

Dumbness rating: 750 millikohns.

MY post campaign ritual is watching this video and laughing hysterically.

Also, the butthurt in this video is delicious.

17 Boobgate is one of the dumbest things I've ever seen in my life. Not just the faux outrage and shock, but the fact that they seem utterly unaware how they are coming across.

The left has transformed from fun-loving hippies into the women from The Music Man, horrified that Balzac is in the school library. They're the stern, bitter, prudish women that threw the prostitute out of town in the beginning of Stagecoach. Its so odd.

I mean, the angry anti-booze women of the late 1800s and early 1900s were "progressives" at the time as well, more of the "for your own good" philosophy, but I didn't expect them to show up again like this.

I can just imagine what young people are thinking watching CNN act as if the word "boobs" is a physical assault on women.

103 In the last thread, it was asked "what's the big deal about the Alleluia song?"

The song referenced is "Hallelujah" originally by Leonard Cohen. His version (the original) was not bad, and his lyrics were full of allusions to both Old and New Testament people and ideas, in a way that made old spiritual teachings about suffering and praise relevant to modern heartaches, like a deep love lost, and death.

But Cohen's song on its own would never have gone anywhere, because as it was, it was just another Leonard Cohen song. It was Jeff Buckley's spare interpretation of it, just him and his guitar. And his version, as much as anything I have ever heard, shows what a real artist can add to simple notes and words on a page.

I first heard it with a montage of photos of servicemen in the Iraq war, I think, and it thought it was good, but then didn't think about it. 3 weeks later I woke up in the middle of the night, with that song haunting my dreams. I didn't even know who it was by or anything about it, but I spent from 3 am til 4 am one night scouring the web for it and then listened to it 5 or 6 times in a row, til I memorized every nuance.

Listen to Jeff Buckley's version - you hear the pain of a life tried sincerely, the pain of a life gone wrong, and still praise and acceptance for what God has given and taken, with acknowledgment that the singer does not understand the reason for any of it, and never will. That's what facing death is like, when it comes time to face it.

A year or so after recording it, Buckley died in strange circumstances (maybe suicide). When he sings, listen closely and you will hear his death approaching, and you will hear that he knows it's coming and accepts it. His version still brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it.

and that's the deal with the Hallelujah song.

Its not about Hillary, its about the dream. Obama-Hillary would have locked in certain policies and cultural shifts into the nation which are now in flux and uncertain. Some have been reversed. Four to eight more years of a hard left radical Democrat in the presidency and they'd have finished the job of "fundamentally transforming" America into a socialist tyranny.

That was stopped in its tracks with the Trump election.

What's really weird is that it's every 4th generation of women (or so) that turns out that way. The men never really give a shit about social stuff, not unless the women push them into it. But there's always enough men that want to make women happy that it turns into a movement each time it shows up. (Puritans, then 3 or 4 generations of backsliding, then Cotton Mather about the time of the revolution, then 3 or 4 generations of backsliding, then Carrie Nation and the first great progressive movement, ending in prohibition, then 3 or 4 generations of backsliding, and now this, which may be the most idiotic version of all - High Moral Dudgeon divorced from even the slightest connection with Religion. Only difference, these new national socialists now want to be globalist in control. They are more communist than Nazi (?), but not that much difference.

Obama wasn't "really" a president to these people. He was a symbol and a blank slate on which they project all their dreams. Was Obama ever criticized? Was he ever condemned for anything he did or said? Never.
Obama wasn't even joked about --unless it was the most innocuous thing, the size of his ears or something.
When Hillary lost it was like, oh shit, it's really the end.

157 That Wisconsin story is a cautionary tale for people to keep in mind when they think "the cops are mostly conservative, they wouldn't go along with government violating freedom like that" or "the military wouldn't attack US civilians like that."

When the rubber hits the road, most people follow orders and do what they're told even if they don't like it. They trust that their boss knows what he's doing, they are scared of losing their job, they don't want to be targeted next, and they've been trained to do what they're told.

Except... originally, they had Star Fleet running ships with mono-racial crews. The Enterprise was a human ship, there were other for Vulcans, and so on. Spock was half human, so took his choice. Worf was not just unique, but raised by humans who adopted him. Data, also unique and primarily based on the human model.

So the original setting emphasized cooperation DESPITE differences, while still recognizing there are differences deeper than skin color.

All of the rules, all of the screaming, all of the preaching, and no actual religion left to support any of it.

At least when it falls, it is going to fall very hard and very fast.

Maybe it is not so much that they ever have a specific goal in mind so much as it is that they want something different than what is now.

Similar to redecorating the house. They could live in the palace at Versailles but would want to make it open concept, then mid century modern, then back to defined spaces just because. Has to be a reflection of them; which makes you wonder why anyone would want to change the Hall of Mirrors.

316 This is my problem. There are actually black people being mistreated and actually killed by cops. Some of them are not thuggish criminal scum.

Even more to the point, its not just black people.

Last 5 Sherrifs in my county:

1. Arrested by state B.I. selling confiscated narcotics
2. Voted out after pulling a fire arm against opposing candidate while drunk. Later arrested for soliciting trans prostitute in park outside state capital
3. Arrested for abuse of office and misappropriating funds
4. Ousted for abuse of office for stalking County Clerks wife after having an affair with same CC's daughter
5. Retiring after 8 years under pressure because 9 different. inmates in the county jail for misdemeanor crimes have died under his watch.

I agree with the narrative, to an extent, that a lot of cops are corrupt and out of line.

To the extent that I need to vilify white people, burn down convenience stores and steal tennis shoes, I disagree with the narrative.

319 Boobgate is one of the dumbest things I've ever seen in my life.

One of the fun things about the Reagan years is that-

they were fun!

The ever present pinch-faced prudery and scolding of the Left surfaced mightily under Carter.(though it worse worse under the worse Obama).

For a magical time, it was actually cool to be a Republican supporting Reagan.

No really.

Why?

Cuz the economy was making a comeback, America was making a comeback, and everyone was making money.

Even in NYC it was impossible to hire someone at the minimum wage for places like McDonald's becuz workers could make more money elsewhere doing other things.

Let the good times roll, baby.

I was shocked and thrilled when at Reagan's inauguration ball, there was Lee Atwater standing on stage with the band thrashing through old rock and roll tunes that was the intro for Reagan's introduction.

Great fun stuff and a superb way to introduce the new tone for America on the rebound.

And Reagan had to fight with a Democrat control congress and that asshole Tip O'the dick.

The Republicans fought (mostly) with him.

Now, who do we have? Turtle and Eddy Munster putting the brakes on everything, refusing to get America and the Middle Class going again. Asshole who are ashamed to be Republicans,

and who get far less done than the Democrats did for Reagan.

F those guys.

Posted by: Chris M at September 18, 2017 11:57 AM (eAZVt)

Pittsburgh is a great place to go to college. Pitt campus is in the Oakland neighborhood, not downtown. It can be a little sketchy in places, but not bad. Carnegie Mellon University is right next door, and if your daughter goes there I suggest living on the CMU side, because those neighborhoods are quieter (nerds party less). Shadyside or squirrel hill neighborhoods are great, you might have to take a short bus ride (I lived in Squirrel Hill 2 years).

Geographically, it just sucks to be Poland.

On one side, there's a house of mentally ill gang bangers.

On the other side, the house belongs to a really prolific serial killer.

And Poland can't move.

Actually, after WWII the whole country moved a couple hundred miles west. The Russians got a big chunk of eastern Poland and Poland got a big chunk of western Germany / Prussia.

A nice reward for Comrade Stalin for invading Poland along with Hitler in 1939. Thanks FDR!

I attend the Oregon Shakespeare Fest every year, and there's always some in-your-face homo-victimization play that's just gay, gay, GAY! Also: some black-victimization play... which usually finds room for more gay, gay gay.

And the old ladies come into the members' lounge talking loudly about how "important" the play is, and how evil people are who give it a bad review.

We have my maternal great-grandfather's immigration papers. They say he was born in Prussia and the town name is German, but his name was clearly Polish. That makes things difficult when you're tracing your family, because the German place names were changed back to Polish ones.

Around 1900 or so Guinness hired a staff doctor with a mandate to help improve the health of workers. He would visit them in their homes, make recommendations to them, while bringing recommendations back to company.

His reason: socialism.

Its not about moral superiority, its about feelings and the way as you age, you stop being so certain about what you were sure about when you were young. And you see so much suffering and death as it piles up that you start to sympathise with the ideas of those who just want to end all that and live in peace. Sure, their ideas are stupid and unworkable. But the pain and the desire for it to be true can overwhelm the truth.

429 Kraken,

OK - so you "went there" with Star Wars. As all REAL Star Wars fans know, there are NO Movies after Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back, really. Return of the Jedi is watchable - but so disappointing because it could have been so much better ( Fuzzy Tedddy Bear Planet Endor was originally written as the Wookie home world. Close your eyes and imagine exactly how cool that would have been, then open them and watch the move and be disgusted with what was actually created).

Generally speaking, if you see "Jar-Jar- Binks" - it means the movie sucks moose b*lls.

The moment I realized how sucky the newer Star Wars movies were? When the Jedis in Episode One, who are dressed as Jedis, with Jedi haircuts and light sabers,( Jedi weapons) come to Young Annakin on his planet and he asks "Are you Jedi?" and the one Jedi (Qui-Gon played by Liam Neeson) answers: "What makes you think we're Jedi?" in a cheesy Liam Neeson A-Team voice

Oh I don't know Qui-Gon? Maybe the fact that you are dressed as Jedis, with Jedi haircuts and have light sabers? I am really not sure ( sarc).

I thought to myself: someone got paid to write this? WTF - Awful, awful awful.

Now when I hear about a Star Wars movie - I repeat my mantra: "please don't suck, please don't suck, please don't suck, please don't suck, . . . "

Rogue One was OK - but - to be honest - can we PLEASE come up with another plot other than one revolving around the friggin' Death Star (or Death Star like planetary weapons?) Sheesh.

3&4 tie up Wrath of Khan so worth seeing. I liked space whale bizarreness so I don't mind it.

Undiscovered Country is my personal fave!! Have watched that so many times. I love whodunits, a whodonits in space, yes. And Nixon in China and Shakespeare being Klingon, lol. Oh and Uhura fan dance!

Skip Generations, it's horrible in every possible way, except Shatner gets some nice horse dressage time.

JJ Abrams could have solved all the problems for the second reboot movie if Kirk had opened a pod for Khan's XO, NOT Khan himself. Cumberbunny could have played the character the same way and it would have been 10x more true to canon. Ruined all the good vines from the first reboot, which I loved.

433 I understand that Handmaid's Tale won big at the Emmys last night and that everyone was talking about how Very Important the program is now that Trump is POTUS.

Because he is such a puritan and wants women to dress like the Amish and do nothing but breed?

This is a textbook case of how utterly confused the Left is when it comes to preaching about sexuality.

Yeah, yeah, I know the party line. He says words like "pussy" and "boob" and hits on babes. Therefore he objectifies women and endorses the patriarchy. (Insert mystical leap here.) Therefore he secretly wants women in burkas.

434 I thought the Handmaid's Tale was a book. They made a TV show about it?

435 JJ Abrams could have solved all the problems for the second reboot movie if Kirk had opened a pod for Khan's XO, NOT Khan himself. Cumberbunny could have played the character the same way and it would have been 10x more true to canon. Ruined all the good vines from the first reboot, which I loved.

Solve the second reboot movie. Another Federation ship discovers the Botany Bay. Because it isn't the Enterprise and the captain is no match for Khan it is taken over by him. The Enterprise is tasked with retrieving the ship and capturing Khan. There's you movie. It has some elements from Wrath of Khan in a Starfleet ship vs Starfleet ship. Kirk vs Khan. And with the ending you can set up a direct sequel or a future one.

436 Pier 5 Law Offices? That's where Tony Serra and Nedra Ruiz practice. Look them up. Tony Serra is a famous 60s radical lawyer, who was the loose basis for James Woods's character in the 80s movie True Believer. Nedra Ruiz got some notoriety through her bizarre courtroom behavior when she defended the oddball SF couple whose Presa Canario dog they were raising with their imprisoned adopted Aryan Brotherhood gang-leader "son" mauled their lesbian neighbor to death.

Brilliant Buzzion! You should have been a ghostwriter for them.

I think the third movie may have killed the franchise, it kinda did for me though it corrected some of the sins of the second reboot. We'll see.

439 According to the left, there are at least 62,984,825 Nazis in America today.

If they really meant what they say, why aren't they actually DOING something about it?

Seriously. Light the fuse, assholes.
Or STFU.

440 I had nothing but good experiences with nuns. One time during lunch, a kid poured chocolate milk on my white, school uniform shirt. Nun justice; he was made to switch shirts with me for the rest of the day. Too bad the world today lacks this kind of common sense problem solving.

I just read every word of the National Reviews article in Wisconsin Democrat thuggery.

It's from 2015..... and Ive never heard this story before??

Ummmm..... why arent people hanging from lampposts for their abuse of peoples lives all because of political activity???

I could not agree more! The prosecutors and police involved with those raids need felony prison or lamp posts. No one is above the law, and that behavior is intolerable.
