We weren't. We aren't now. They will strike again. Perhaps they will wait another eight years. But perhaps not. The enemy is in this country right now. And any terrorists who are not already here are free to immigrate. Ann Coulter Quote II As to those in the World Trade Center… True enough, they were civilians of a sort. But innocent?… They formed a technocratic corps at the very heart of America's global financial empire—the "mighty engine of profit" to which the military dimension of U.S. policy has always been enslaved—and they did so both willingly and knowingly.… If there was a better, more effective, or in fact any other way of visiting some penalty befitting their participation upon the little Eichmanns inhabiting the sterile sanctuary of the twin towers, I'd really be interested in hearing about it. Ward Churchill Quote III 43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, Jesus Christ Matthew 5:43-44 Not known as a conservative, moderate or even a libertarian. But, a nice fitting tribute to the victims of that tragic day, September 11, 2001 by Neil Young. As of Sept. 3, Baltimore has recorded 238 homicides, while New York City has seen 182 murders. That breaks down to roughly 50 killings per 100,000 people in Baltimore, and just 3.9 killings per 100,000 people in New York.Baltimore. Michelle, Schoen argues, is popular with the American people and as such is a great option to unite the divided and flailing Democratic Party. He continues: Let me be clear: This is not an endorsement. I have been, and still am, critical of Barack Obama’s presidency. Michelle Obama would not be my candidate, and I do not agree with many of the positions I believe she would advance. But as an analyst, Michelle Obama is clearly the Democrats’ best chance to reunite the party and win back the White House in 2020. Michelle Obama is perceived as a strong, well-qualified leader with immense national popularity. Broadly, the polls show she is respected by the American people and by the near-entirety of the Democratic Party. I well remember the day. Watched it on morning news in CA as I was getting ready for work. Earlier post of the falling man had me crying. 16 years later and my gut still clenches in agony. And then I get mad. I think of what that day told us and I see 16 years of deaf ears and I get mad. I see our politicians, throughout western civilisation willfully wiping out memory of tthat day and embracing and pampering the ideology that led to so many thousands dead and I get mad all over again.

I always thought it odd that they chose kneeling during the anthem as protest. Kneeling is usually seen as a form of obeisance or prayer stance- not resistance. I can see kneeling as a form of greater respect, honestly (aside from the implication that one should stand as a free man for the National Anthem of the US.)
For example, kneeling during the Battle Hymn of the Republic would make perfect sense in my mind. Posted by: Aetius451AD Work Laptop at September 11, 2017 10:28 PM (rb1zT) 97

That bottom picture of the three firemen raising the flag is the image that has stuck with me all these years. To me, what those guys were saying with that action is that America is the winner. No matter how bad it looks, America will always come out on top.
I remember leaving the house that morning and opening the bookstore. I knew I wouldn't sell a single book that day, and I spent the whole day watching what was happening. I just couldn't stay home. I felt that closing that day would have meant they won, and I just couldn't let that happen. It must have been the way my parents and grandparents felt about Pearl Harbor Day, but instead of gathering around a big console radio waiting for drips and drabs of information, we had a front row seat to the horror, everything in live time. One of my cousins lived in an upscale neighborhood close to the City, and she told me how absolutely horrible it was when so many daddies didn't come home that night. I have to be careful to not sit, study, stare and absorb too much 9/11 imagery, every year.
Because I still think the correct solution, 9/12, should've included a wing of B-52s bringing Canned Sunshine to various Middle East Shitholistans. Islam needs to fear Western Civilization in general, and the U.S.A. in particular, for at least another millennia. This particular anniversary is not one that I "celebrate". It is a quiet, solo, somber observation. And I still want revenge. I want the U.S.A. to have her revenge. It's not an afterthought that we'd have been ahead of the game, had we opted to hold Saddam at bay, take out the entire Wahabbi sub-culture in Saudi Arabia, depose the Royals and make that fucking place ours for that self same millennia. It's proven that it was Saudi Royal money that funded the hijackers, provided for their support, training and continued motivation. The House of Saud needs to no longer exist, and the Arabian Peninsula needs to stand under a giant TEXACO sign, just to make things clear. More rant is in the spleen, but that's enough venting, for now. Jim Sunk New Dawn Galveston, TX Posted by: Jim at September 11, 2017 10:34 PM (MGCfm) 122

16 years ago, I was in the office when someone said there was an accident at the WTC. We tried logging online, but all of AOL's phone numbers were busy, so we decided to turn the training room TV on. Since we were in the middle of downtown, we didn't have a usable signal. So we closed the office and walked down the street to a bar that we knew the owner who was getting ready for lunch and let us watch the news there.
My wife was at home taking a vacation day and was watching a cable channel and had no idea what was going on until I called her. While we were on the phone, the cable channel switched over to news. For the next several hours I stood with 20-30 people watching it while people who had no idea what was going on would walk into the bar for lunch, and then just stop and watch. I just remember how quiet it was when I left to go home. All of the buses stopped running, and there were no cars on the road, and the local newspaper was handing out a "flash" afternoon edition with news of the attack. There was no "we may never know their motives" BS, we all knew what their motives were. Oh, and one of my co-workers found out while we were at the bar that a good friend of his was on one of the flights that hit the WTC. 16 years ago, I worked at the State Dept. It was an "interesting" day. I remember talking to my sister a few days later. She said this will bring the country together. I said it won't last. Its too divided and this 'unity' is temporary. Sometimes being a cynic is a defensive mechanism and sometimes its prophetic. Sadly it was prophetic in this case. I don't know why I said that, I just didn't think the "were all together" stuff would last.

"The guy was in great shape," the director says.
Meyer was blown away when he met his star in person before filming and might have been the first to ask this undying question. "I noticed it the first time, even I said, 'Is that really your chest?' " Now we're talking. He says he didn't inquire how Montalbán worked himself into that shape. He knew that the star was focused on his fitness long before it was all the rage for actors.
Jim Sunk New Dawn Galveston, TX The Arabs are so damn lucky with their timing. If the value of the oil they are floating had been known to the West in 1890 -- they would have been exterminated. If they had pulled something like 9/11 fifty years earlier when Curtis LeMay had his hands on the levers, they would have been glassed before the President was briefed about the situation. The Day the Towers Fell:
We were having a staff meeting, and the receptionist came in and said she heard a plane flew into the WTC. We continued the meeting, and then she came in and said another plane had hit the WTC. Meeting over, we tried to get on the Internet, but everything was locked up. Her husband (the receptionist) brought over a little TV set from their house, and we were huddled around it, watching the horror of it all. The first tower fell. A woman that worked for me was crying. Her son was a senior a West Point, and she knew that we were then going to be at war (and he did do three tours in Iraq). She couldn't reach him, as everything there was locked down. Bad morning. Our CEO and Production manager were visiting a main client in N. Carolina, and had to drive home, as the airlines were now grounded. Very somber day, somber at home. Who let these people into the country? I remember that Friday, when they were having a big service at the National Cathedral in Washington. I was listening on the car radio, and the service finished with "Battle Hymn of the Republic". It was then I felt like my insides were falling apart. And now? Sixteen years later, and the rest of our lives to go. And we know, this ain't over by a long shot. But so is the timing. which isn't of my choosing. Posted by: booknlass at September 11, 2017 10:28 PM (SBgDf) The battle victory is His, but He isn't gonna just reach down and do it Himself (although he could). His people have to make it happen. A post of mine from 9/11/10:
I was at work early that day, as usual. Just after a quarter to nine, my boss came into my office and told me the Trade Center had been hit with what appeared to be a plane. I went down to 5th Ave (between 17th & 18th Sts.) and saw the north tower burning like a smokestack. I was horrified yet transfixed. I saw the second plane hit the south tower. At that moment, I knew we were at war. While standing in the middle of 5th Ave in a large crowd (just like that picture on that other thread), I heard this young black kid behind me say, 'It's our fault'. I balled up my fists and turned to him and told him to go to hell. His response was, 'Check your history, my man.' I was ready to take a swing at that moment when a firemen from the stationhouse around the corner said to me in a soft voice, "I heard what he said. I have your back." I couldn't believe what I heard, but later on knew that I had been graced by the presence of Moonbatus Ignoramus. After watching the towers crumble, I headed back up to the office in a state of shock. I tried to call my parents in Norfolk, VA but could not get through. I called my aunt in West-By-God and got through; she gave me my Cuz' work number in another part of WV. I called and someone there picked up the phone and I asked to speak with John. The guy asked who I was, and I said his cousin from New York City. I heard an 'oh shit, John it's your cousin in New York!' I spoke with him, told him I was okay (physically at least) and asked him to call my parents to let them know I was okay. I knew the bridges and tunnels were closed, and the buses and trains were not running, so the only way to get back to Queens was to walk to midtown and hike over the 59th St Bridge. That I did not feel like doing (though I did that very walk during the blackout in 2003), so I figured waiting for a bit would be the thing to do as the crush of people leaving was massive, and I knew they couldn't keep everything shut down forever. Around 2:30, I went to the closest subway station, in Union Square, but it was locked up tighter than a drum. So I walked over to 6th Ave to get the 'F' train to Queens. The first train in was an 'E', still with the final destination of 'World Trade Center' on its side. Very eerie. When I stepped into the car, it was dead quiet. Everyone, and I mean everyone, had shocked faces and glazed over eyes; some were covered in dust. I took a seat and teared up all the way home. The City was closed on Wednesday and Thursday. On Wednesday night, the wind shifted. I woke up smelling the burning rubble of the Trade Center, the smell of death; taking a shower didn't help. That is something I will never get out of my mind. On Friday, as we were above 14th St, I could go back to work. When I exited the subway that morning, I looked downtown and there was the realization that the Towers were missing from my skyline. Even though I knew on a rational level they were gone, it was not seeing them in person that morning that just made the reality all too real, if you will, that I really was living a nightmare. That is a day I will never forget. So the Indonesian Imbecile can kiss my ass when it comes to any healing crap, including all this muslim outreach bullshit. While I was awed by Bush's speech with the bullhorn on top of the firetruck at Ground Zero, hearing the poo-pooing of the chattering classes, including Bush, that we mustn't blame all muslims and all that crap still sticks in my craw. Because of that bullshit, we are in the mess we are now, with a fucking Victory Mosque near Ground Zero in the works. I still can't believe how we as a Nation have seemed to deliberately forget and downplay what happened, as if having anger because of that atrocity in this politically correct age is bad. Today is not a good day. On 9/11/02, it was rainy. I had to call a tax office in Oklahoma City, and ending up talking with a guy for well over a half an hour. He understood, after what happened there. They say time heals all wounds. In this case, I don't think so, as it's a scab muslims continue to pick at. For one, we've never taken the proper revenge we as a Nation should have taken. We've played at fighting a politically correct war, where collateral damage is verboten. I still feel collateral damage was and is the way to go to stop this jihadi madness. The kaba'a should not exist right now, yet it does. And we have a fucking president with a middle name of 'Hussein'. One of the mantras on this board is that things will not end well, and I honestly believe they will not. At least not until we put a right proper end to 1400 years of jihad and muslim abominations and eliminate the progressives in our Government. Do we have the stones to do that? I tend toward 'no', but I am more than willing to be proved wrong. --------- To be honest, I still cannot watch any documentary/film about 9/11, I just can't. I don't know why as I lived it. My ex-BIL's cousin (who we are still friendly with) was a NYC cop for 25 years and was working in Manhattan on 9/11 before she came back to Wisconsin to take care of her mom. That day is difficult for her to talk about - she lost friends.
She is a huge Trump supporter and says many of the NYPD and firefighters are - they all live in Queens, after all. She was visiting NYC and was in the Trump Tower when Trump appeared right before he announced his candidacy. She asked his bodyguard if he wouldn't mind taking a pic with a retired NYPD cop. He agreed and was very gracious to her. When he came to Milwaukee during the campaign, she went to it, stood in line to shake his hand, showed him the picture and asked him to sign it and he did. She sent the signed picture of her and Trump to all her liberal relatives, inside her Christmas cards. They went ballistic! Posted by: Tammy al-Thor I was there last December. I didn't know what to think of it before I saw it. In person, it is actually quite solemn and beautiful. The falling water creates kind of a pleasant white noise, that actually makes you feel like you are there by yourself. Not a lot of noise of people shuffling around and being their usual ass-holish self. The names of all the dead from the Towers are inscribed in stainless steel around the falling water, their birth date (we know when they died). People leave things by some of the names. I know there were a couple of names I was looking for, too. Posted by: Bossy Conservative....deplorable American at September 11, 2017 11:17 PM (S6Pax) 278

My son was working for a Representative on 9/11; the first I knew of it was a message on the phone telling me his building was being evacuated. I turned on the TV and then saw what was happening, couldn't get through on his cell and I didn't hear from him until 11:30 that night, he'd walked across the 14th street bridge to his apartment. I live in northern VA, could see the smoke from the Pentagon myself, it was still unbelievable when we drove by it a few days later.

G.K. Chesterton:
"The cheapest and most childish of all the taunts of the Pacifists is, I think, the sneer at belligerents for appealing to the God of Battles. It is ludicrously illogical, for we obviously have no right to kill for victory save when we have a right to pray for it. If a war is not a holy war, it is an unholy one--a massacre." "I cannot see how we can literally end War unless we can end Will. I cannot think that war will ever be utterly impossible; and I say so not because I am what these people call a militarist, but rather because I am a revolutionist. Absolutely to forbid fighting is to forbid what our fathers called 'the sacred right of insurrection'. Against some decisions no self-respecting men can be prevented from appealing to fortune and to death." "...war, like weather, cannot in itself be either criminal or saintly; and war as an action undertaken by certain persons may be either one or the other. Only in a state of fallen intelligence akin to fetish-worship could [we] ever have dropped into the habit of talking about the 'wickedness of war'." "...that all war is physically frightful is obvious; but if that were a moral verdict, there would be no difference between a torturer and a surgeon." From The American Chesterton Society: "Throughout his career, Chesterton was a vigorous enemy of pacifism. What he did believe in was the right, or the duty rather, of self-defense and the defense of others. Chesterton was also a vigorous enemy of militarism. Both ideas, he argued, were really a single idea -- that the strong must not be resisted. The militarist, he said, uses this idea aggressively as a conqueror, as a bully. The pacifist uses the idea passively by acquiescing to the conqueror and permitting himself and others around him to be bullied. Of the two, Chesterton thought the pacifist far less admirable. In fact, the pacifist, for him, was "the last and least excusable on the list of the enemies of society." "They preach that if you see a man flogging a woman to death you must not hit him. I would much sooner let a leper come near a little boy than a man who preached such a thing." This should not be understood as a lust for fighting. "The horror of war," Chesterton wrote, "is the sentiment of a Christian and even of a saint." But in refusing to strike any blow, pacifists announce their readiness to surrender the higher ideals of "liberty, self-government, justice, and religion." Francis Schaefer: "The Bible is clear here: I am to love my neighbor as myself, in the manner needed, in a practical way, in the midst of the fallen world, at my particular point of history. This is why I am not a pacifist. Pacifism in this poor world in which we live - this lost world - means that we desert the people who need our greatest help." But notice who the decider is in the story of Jesus, Peter, and the Sword - Jesus. My concern is that some seem eager to draw the sword based on their own perfectly understandable human assessments rather than seeking the Lord's guidance. (I don't exclude myself from that judgment. 9/11
I was in Crystal City in Crystal Mall One working as a patent examiner. A shaking coworker came in and told me there was smoke by the Pentagon. I went to a northern window and saw the plume of black smoke. I said That is a BIG Bravo fire. Another coworker said the twin towers have been hit. Even I could not quite wrap my head around enemy action for a few seconds. I then heard twin sonic booms and just knew it was the alert15 F15s from Langley AFB. I calmed down some of the more shaken coworkers. I told one woman that the State Department was not hit when she passed on one of the many rumors. See, look. No smoke. I went back to work for a while when we were told to evacuate. It did not make much sense for me to go into a street where all the glass would fall down on us. I got some more work done until the computers were turned off. Leaving the building I saw and smelled burned paper falling from the northern sky. I saw everyone on edge, and a pedestrian hit by a fleeing car. The roads filled up fast. Someone told me the towers had fallen and all I could think about was That is 70,000 dead. A nuke hit. I was so relieved that an excellent design, sound construction by good workers, responsive citizens and heroes in the building prevented more deaths. I walked two miles south to where a friend worked. I was going against the flow of evacuees from National Airport. Broad streams of refugees with wheeled luggage in tow were heading north. I thought Like France in 1940. I wondered if I could get back into the Navy. No. I arrived 5 minutes too late to shepherd my friend (who was stuck in traffic for six hours) and walked back to the Underground for an early lunch. I talked with two women whose husbands were in the 101st. We agreed that there was a possibility their husbands were going to be deployed soon. I took the Metro to West Falls Church, a bus to the Whiele Park and Ride for free, and got home in Reston 3 hours after the attack. I had to wait for my friend to get to her home before I saw any TV images (24 years of no TV at that time). I notified family and friends I was safe by email, and resolved to give blood the next day. My across the street neighbor Norma Khan was on the plane that hit the Pentagon, and I knew two of the Navy personnel killed. I attended the local memorial services in the Reston Community Center for Norma, and tried to comfort her orphaned 12 year old son. My commute took me past the Pentagon every day. One of my HOA board members had a bad neck cut from getting two people out of the Pentagon, and I noticed a few new Navy and Marine Corps Medal ribbons on other bus riders. I saw the Humvee with a SAW by the road north of the Pentagon, and reflected on the misery some poor platoon had to endure. Posted by: NaCly Dog at September 12, 2017 12:01 AM (hyuyC) 375

Posted by: chavez the hugo at September 12, 2017 12:01 AM (KP5rU) Are you talking about that TV series? It was okay but there was a lot of bullshit in there, too. The series was fine with the facts of the terror events prior to 9/11 (though most people knew about that stuff, anyway). Sure, there were some interesting links between the players that some might have known about but anyone who's dealt with arab terror for more than 10 minutes sees all the family connections all through and how the families are intimately tied to most things the individuals are doing (which is why families of terrorists - and their home villages - should really be reduced to dust). But the crap about Iraq in that show was just ridiculous. They couldn't help themselves ... I know ... Posted by: ThePrimordialOrderedPair at September 12, 2017 12:08 AM (rZ+mb) 393
Realizing we're not any safer now than we were sixteen years ago is enough to anger me. It's enough to wish the worst on the scum that would kill us because we don't worship as they do.
It angers me that there are people IN OUR OWN COUNTRY who are collaborators with this scum in spirit, if not in letter, who want the greatest country the world has ever known destroyed and replace with tyranny...not realizing they'd be among the first to feel the sword at their neck once their usefulness ended. I will not forgive the people responsible for 911. I will not forgive the ones who wish to continue their mission. They don't want forgiveness. They want me dead. If that makes me a sinner...well, I was already one, anyway. Posted by: Captain Whitebread at September 12, 2017 12:09 AM (rJUlF) 394

Back then, I had a hard time imagining marching off to war for Christ. That was ancient history! Nobody fought wars for religion in the 20th century. Now I doubt too many churches would dare put this song on the hymn list, somebody might be offended. I can't get the lyrics to copy & paste, I get a 504 error message.
Hmmm... I wonder what that makes me. I think the strong should passively acquiesce to the weak and permit himself and his allies to be bullied, until they are no longer strong. Posted by: Barack Obama at September 12, 2017 12:17 AM (/qEW2) 424

Posted by: chavez the hugo at September 12, 2017 12:12 AM (KP5rU) Bush started out trying to totally re-energize and revamp the military. The problem was that he was focused on the wrong threat, but he had the right idea. And his middle east policy was 180 degrees from CLinton's - which was nice. It was a shame that Bush's "hands off" policy got totally wasted on the worst Jewish leader in all of history - Ehud Olmert. But Bush certainly did give Israel a chance to really set things right. It was only late in Bush's third year that he really started to veer leftwards into Clinton-style stupidity in his policies. It was the beating he took because of how ineptly he was running the Iraq occupation after that lightning victory. Bush just got beat to hell over that - rightfully so by the right, incorrectly so by the left - and from then on in he really did nothing but hold onto his determination to not run tail from Iraq (which was the only thing that saved him in the 2004 election, other than the Swift Boat Vets, who he never thanked ... ever). But he was holding on to a retarded occupation strategy (and that asinine democracy crap). Then, his second term was just the pits. Awful in almost every respect. EVAN SAYET: "I call myself a 9/13 Republican. I grew up a liberal New York Jew; you don't get much more liberal than that--although it was lower-case "l," not what's considered Liberal today. I graduated from high school knowing only one thing about politics: that Democrats are good and Republicans are evil.
"I tell a story. It's not a true story, but it helps crystallize my thinking that brought me to become a conservative. I say: Imagine being in a restaurant with an old friend, and you're catching up, and suddenly he blurts out, "I hate my wife." You chuckle to yourself because he says it every time you're together, and you know he doesn't hate his wife; they've been together for 35 years. He loves his daughters, and they're just like her. No, he doesn't hate his wife. "So you're having dinner, and you look out the window and spot his wife, and she's being beaten up right outside the restaurant. You grab your friend and say, "Come on, let's help her. Let's help your wife," and he says, "Nah, I'm sure she deserves it." At that moment, it dawns on you: He really does hate his wife. "That's what 9/11 was to me. For years and years I'd hear my friends from the Left say how evil and horrible and racist and imperialistic and oppressive America is, and I'd chuckle to myself and think, "Oh, they always say that; they love America." Then on 9/11, we were beaten up, and when I grabbed them by the collar, and I said, "Come on, let's help her. Let's help America," and they said, "Nah, she deserves it." Posted by: Ashley Judd's Puffy Scamper, formerly MrCaniac at September 12, 2017 01:03 AM (1JnAL) People react differently to moments of crisis. Most of the country went into Fight or Flight mode and seemed to settle on 'Fight.' The left wisely decided to shut up and only crawled out of their holes when they thought it was safe to do so. Did not take long, but the media spent a lot of time and effort preparing the way- and the Right did not do itself any favors by projecting a feel of "Getting back to normal." Hindsight is a damnable thing, but I wish we could learn from it. Nowadays if a second attack of similar size (four digit body count) how do you think the left would react? Would they even bother going to their hidey holes or would they immediately start spewing their BS? I am not talking about a massive singular attack. I am not sure how things would shake out if LA or New York or Miami was hit by a nuke. It would be crazy town. Or heck, even an EMP attack that heavily affected the western seaboard (to pull a random example from the air.) Would the target matter to the left? If it were Anchorage? Dallas? We have seen their empathy is not even skin deep for natural disasters like Harvey. Posted by: Aetius451AD Work Laptop at September 12, 2017 01:11 AM (rb1zT) 498

From what I can tell, most of the reviewers seem to be saying the same thing: We have hit a wall as far as progression. Which, IIRC was the problem with the first Destiny? Not to mention when they tell me about the rich, story based gameplay improvements they have made and then people say they have completed the campaign within a day of the game's release it makes an eyebrow go up. Think I may just continue with Warframe until they get a decent chunk of content built up for PC. Posted by: boulder terlit hobo at September 12, 2017 01:55 AM (6FqZa) Yeah, Warframe is at least upfront about it. Plus the depth of customization and the way the game works means you do not strictly need to buy anything- you still have to get the mods for any particular build (and the only 'pay' way of getting mods is completely random mod packs or buying from the trade channel.) I will admit I have bought a few things for the game, because I have really enjoyed it so far- even though it is pretty grindy. Not for everyone certainly, but I have definitely enjoyed it so far. I think the clear choice to play Hil is Brian Dennehy in a dress. Or someone transgender, like Lena Dunham. Posted by: Roger Ebert's Moldering Corpse at September 12, 2017 06:45 AM (H5knJ) 658

@658 - That's a fine idea. But to fully capture her charisma, the dubbing should be off, like in a bad Grade B kung fu movie.

Could you imagine a museum devoted to great Democrat memorabilia?
Ted Kennedy's Oldsmobile. Monica's blue dress. Hillary's missing shoe. The bollard. The Michael Dukakis helmet. Al Gore's lock box. I'd pay to get it and laugh my ass off. Posted by: Ted Cruise at September 12, 2017 07:04 AM (EgwCt) 671

Trump's pardon of Sheriff Arapio saying it is unconstitutional. Why is it unconstitutional? . . .From the article: "The Arpaio Pardon does not faithfully execute the law it sends a signal that public officials, so long as they are allies of the President, need not execute the law at all." I thought they were talking about hillary myself. Posted by: The Great White Scotsman at September 12, 2017 07:07 AM (+Dllb) 675
671 Remember how well Hillary's last books have sold?
I once bought one of them at a books-by-the-pound used book sale, just for laughs. She overuses certain rhetorical tics to the point of annoyance. Everything she doesn't like is "failed" and/or "discredited" for example. Posted by: WhatWhatWhat? at September 12, 2017 07:08 AM (ul9CR) 676

Plus he didn't wait until the last day of his presidency to do the pardon. People still have time to be upset by it. Just not cricket Posted by: Bruce at September 12, 2017 07:10 AM (8ikIW) 679

So my son's high school now has two signs outse the main doors-Hate doesn't live here.
I am tempted to disguise myself and go there in the early morning to put up reply signs "Who lives here?; It's a high school" or "But virtue signaling does" However, they'd get ripped down, or someone would find out who did it and take it out on my son. From the Kos link regarding evangelicals:
"Most readers here are aware of the statements and actions of the right-wing, Trump-loving evangelicals. They call themselves Christians, although their actions and attitudes bear little or no resemblance to the teachings of Jesus Christ in the many English versions of the Christian Bible. But it's important to remember that simply excoriating "evangelicals," as if there is one unified group who classify themselves as such, is both wrong and counterproductive for those of us who embrace social justice. For Democrats to speak of people of faith with disdain or disgust is a self-defeating prophecy and belies our "big tent"umbrella. It also dismisses a large segment of our base who happen to be people of color and people of faith." =========================== I love how an article supposedly pointing out the need to include evangelicals, still manages to diss evangelicals. If I could count the many many times I've been accused of "not acting like Jesus", I'd have to get a bigger calculator. I love being told how I don't measure up to my faith by people who think my faith is ridiculous. And no, there are not many "Versions" of the Bible. There are different translations of the original Greek, Hebrew and Aramaic. Different scholars translate different words differently, according to their best understanding of the original text. And anyone who didn't know that Black evangelicals who vote according to their understanding of the Word of God, must have a paper bag over their head.
