The Morning Rant

"Some idiots are saying hurricanes aren't natural disasters. OK, then we need to create a new federal agency, the 'Federal Hurricane Distribution Center', and staff it with progressives top to bottom. Then task them with making sure that every state gets their fair share of hurricanes, and within 5 years, there won't be any."

Hey look, I found a photo of all the supplies donated to hurricane Harvey relief by Antifa, Black Lives Matter, and Women's March:

Britain is effed.jpg
click to embiggen

You're really going to want to click on the image so you read it for yourself. If I'm understanding it correctly, the laws of Great Britain, has made it de facto illegal to defend yourself against assault or rape. The laws forbid you to do anything that might cause injury to your attacker. I know I'm preaching to the choir here, but the right to defend yourself is a fundamental human right that transcends any government. I wonder how long it will be before this point gets raised in a British court. Until that time, the lawless have a blank check, signed by the Crown, to do pretty much whatever they want.

In quite a lot of detail. Makes me wonder how much firewood he sold.

I'm always sort of amazed at how much restraint so many people have when something horrible happens to their wives, girlfriends, families, etc. You'd think there would be many, many more vigilante justice instances after the fact. Not even after a trial where someone walks, either. Just while the criminal is being escorted to and from buildings.

We're a very civilized bunch.

There's another photo floating around that was on local news of a (small) group of blacks protesting in front of Biloxi MS city hall, after the mayor decided he wouldn't fly the state flag there a few months back.

They wanted the flag to be displayed.

121 Looking at that post from Great Britain...don't think the Brits are alone here. Many Americans would love to turn over their right AND responsibility of self-defense over to the police. "Why, the police KEEP US SAFE!"

Actually, no. I can be quite critical of the police. This is not one of those times: check out Houston sometime. The police are too bloody busy with other things to bother keeping you safe. Their plates runneth over. Therefore the responsibility for keeping you safe is ALL ON YOU.

People have got to accept the role of the police: to investigate crime, which they do AFTER the fact. Can the police stop a crime in progress? Sure, if they are lucky they will blunder into a crime in progress and if they want they can intervene (recent events indicate cops are content to pick and choose what crimes to stop: Berkeley is a good example of this). Even IF we had the rule of law in this country, and IF every cop was a true committed professional, they are STILL owned in every way by Police Chiefs Isaac Newton and Albert Einstein.

You have GOT to protect yourselves and be ready to defend yourselves. It's not just a right, but a responsibility. I'd dare say it makes the mission of the police much easier.

Well, the reality is that cops are usually not standing outside your doorway when a problem happens. They're usually, you know, somewhere else.

Their main function is to fill out a report after the fact, and to collect some tax revenue by writing traffic tickets.

I mean, no offense to cops, but... yeah, I wouldn't put my life in the hands of some theoretical cop being right where I need him when I need him and acting all heroically to save my life god forbid anything happened.

Seems like a big gamble.

149 I retreated hurriedly to the bedroom, shouting at my wife, "Someone is in the house." My wife was saying, "Stay in the room," but I decided to look again... I noticed the intruder again. As I looked down to the room below me, I saw a person run from the kitchen. He stopped in the centre of the room and looked towards me. He started shouting and screaming. He was hysterical and frightening. He said words to the effect of, "You get down here, you know what it is." I could see a knife in one hand and the spear from part of the statue in the other.
I decided to shout back at him, to confuse and distract him. I shouted, "Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna." He rushed towards me. I attempted to get into a room, but couldn"t release the key from the door. I made the split-second decision to tackle this man as I had it in mind that once he passed me, both my wife and mother-in-law would be vulnerable. Armed only with the element of surprise, I ran at him.

My first thought was to grab the knife and knock him off balance. He thrust the knife at me. I was fending off the blows with my hands and arms. He was stabbing down towards my upper body.

I was aware of my wife approaching and striking him about the head with a brass poker. It appeared to have little effect. He stood up and chased my wife.

I feared greatly for her safety and hauled myself up to tackle him. I placed my hands around the blade. He again got the better of me and got on top of me. I felt exhausted and could feel the strength draining from me. My arms dropped to my sides and I vividly remember a deliberate thrust of the knife down into my chest. I could feel blood entering my lungs. I could feel my chest deflate. I felt blood in my mouth and air exhale from my chest. I believed I had been fatally stabbed.

I was left with serious wounds and breathing difficulties. This person has punched and kicked me in all areas of my body. I have no doubts that this person had the intention of killing me and my wife. There were times I believed I was dying.

Also sounds like they've never read the decisions of the courts when people sued the police. Stated flat-out by the judges: the police have no duty to protect you.

None.

This is how reality works. I know it's hard for libs because they don't understand why reality should defy their narratives. But, no you should not trust the cops to protect you because, pragmatically, they have no enforceable duty to protect you.

She reported in to the police & was charged and fined b/c pepper spray is illegal. It hit Facebook & went viral & the police wouldn't back down. Either they finally did, or people took up a collection to pay her fine. You are now safer as a criminal in those countries. If your 'Asian'...code word for Muslim/Arab, et.al.

186 They were jabbing at each other, but my husband was just being backed up and backed up. He was trying to grab the man's wrists. I saw my husband looking very pale. He was staring at me in a very bizarre manner. I have never seen him look that way. I just raised my hand and hit the man on the back of the head as hard as I could.
The next thing I knew, I was knocked backwards. The man was up against the wall and I was on my hands and knees at his feet. I reached up and tried to grab his testicles, but I just felt a lot of fabric. I ran from the room and that's when he came after me. I felt Abram's hands on the back of my neck. Seconds later, the two of us fell to the floor as George jumped on Abram's back. I landed on cushions used for meditation and crawled away. The men carried on fighting.

There was blood on the walls, blood on the carpet. This was the moment I realised we were going to be murdered, that this man was succeeding in murdering us and there was no one else there to help. I turned around and grabbed a lamp, tore the shade off and brought it down on the man's head. I struck the intruder as hard as I could, as many times as I could.

I heard my husband saying, 'I've got the knife. I've got the knife.' Then I saw it lying between them. I hit Abram two or three times. He seemed to slump. I said to him, 'Stop,' because I didn't want to hit him anymore. It wasn't a pleasant experience. He was very bloody, my husband was hurt and I was exhausted. My husband said, 'Don't stop, hit him harder.' George was very weak and tried to throw the knife across the room but as he raised his arm, it fell behind him on to a cushion.

I then found myself in a tug-of-war with Abram, each of us pulling on the flex. It was then that Abram grabbed the flex of the lamp and began menacingly wrapping the cord around his hands. I thought he was going to strangle me. He whipped me with the cord on my head. Eventually I flung the lamp at him and ran out of the room. I had a big gash in my head and numerous bruises on my legs ... My husband was fading away. I had to leave my husband there because I couldn't do any more. As I reached the last section of the stairs, I realised he wasn't following me anymore. I thought he'd gone back to inflict more harm on my husband.

221 A little off-topic, but I've about reached my upper level limit on "white privilege." I feel even worse for the kids of leftists who are indoctrinated in this tripe and grow up hating themselves and who they are.

Newsflash minorities: People of any race can come from privilege. My father wasn't wealthy and neither were his parents. Being someone of Coonass, Irish and German ancestry, we had to work hard to raise our station in life. There were no handouts, no EBT cards, no WIC, no SNAP, none of it. You worked or you starved and slept in a cardboard box. I worked starting when I was 13, joined the Army, became a warrant officer and a pilot and later moved to the Coast Guard, where I rose to the rank of captain and commanded two air stations before I retired in 2007.

None of that was because of my skin color. It's because I achieved by showing up on time (a drill sergeant in warrant officer school at Mother Rucker told us that 90 percent of life is just showing up on time and the rest is gravy) and doing what my command asked of me.

There were rich kids in my little town for sure, but I didn't envy them or their parents' wealth. Nor did they look down on the rest of us. The nice thing about America, at least in the past, was you were not permanently wedded to your station in life. You could work hard, achieve and move up. There was institutional racism, but this is a thing of the past.

The Left sees a Nazi behind every tree, but I think you couldn't fill a small theater with all of the true neo-Nazi/KKK dingleberries in this country. A radical black neighbor years ago accused me of being a racist KKK member because I didn't agree with their views on race and I told them "They hate me, a Catholic, as much as they do you. So shut up."

I'm convinced that these people are all mentally ill and need to be institutionalized. They are a clear and present danger to their children and any children they might indoctrinate with their self hatred. I feel like 50 percent of the country has lost their minds (see the Mississippi banana peel) and need some serious therapy.

I usually put the food outside for our two cats about dark. (they spend most nights outside - everyone is much happier with that arrangement)

If they don't get it in 30 minutes, the raccoon family or the possum will. Last night I went out the back door at 9:30 or so, the possum (he's gotten pretty big now) was sitting on top of our driveway fence just looking at me. He wasn't concerned about me being there, he was more like "hey man you're late, that food should have been out here an hour ago!"

and I've seen the possum walk up and wait for the cats to finish, and they all act like "Hey Bill, what's up!" "Oh nothin George, how you doin today?"

Yeah, maybe nobody else gave a shit and he just had to tough it out at 18. I guess that means we should not give a shit about anybody else who comes here and has culture shock or feels homesick.

Some of the things Jane reports (like about the juice) could be because people from wealthy families in the Third World (you're either wealthy or poor and poor Third World people don't become foreign exchange students ) generally have servants. I'd explain that here you're expected to do things on your own and not be waited on hand and foot. But I wouldn't immediately decide the guy's an asshole because he doesn't grasp American ways right off the bat.

he could be an ass. But like I said, I'd be a bit charitable before deciding that.

The goal of the GOPe is to pay off the GOPe's clients.

If the Dems control DC they primarily pay off their clients, but the GOPe's clients get a spot at the trough as well.

If the Tea Party types control DC though, they are going to shrink and maybe end the trough.

Playing how motivations, GOPers want to control Washington...but only if they can control it without needing the tea partiers. The second best scenario for them is the Dems controlling Washington, and the worst scenario is the Tea Party types controlling it.

So I expect that as you get closer and closer to the TP types controlling the Republican party, the more formally you will see the GOPe align itself with the Dems...

There are a few out there that are on the up and up still. Remarkably the outfit that polls for the LA Times is one and Rasmussen is the other.
