Hmmm: Democrat Congresswoman's Chief of Staff Wrote Off Equipment Which Disappeared In Hands of Awan Gang In a Manner Which Seems to Have Concealed The Equipment's Vanishing

Not sure if I'm reading this right, not sure of accounting principles which might (or might not) make this a routine bit of paperwork.

Not sure of the motive for doing this.

But It does seem to raise some questions in need of answers.

A chief of staff for Democratic Rep. Yvette Clarke quietly agreed in early 2016 to sign away a $120,000 missing electronics problem on behalf of two former IT aides now suspected of stealing equipment from Congress, The Daily Caller News Foundation has learned.

Clarke's chief of staff at the time effectively dismissed the loss and prevented it from coming up in future audits by signing a form removing the missing equipment from a House-wide tracking system after one of the Awan brothers alerted the office the equipment was gone. The Pakistani-born brothers are now at the center of an FBI investigation over their IT work with dozens of Congressional offices.

A senior House official with knowledge of the situation provided TheDCNF with new details about how exactly the brothers are suspected to have stolen the equipment and possibly data from Congress, raising questions about the members or staffers who were signing the checks on equipment purchases.

The $120,000 figure amounts to about a tenth of the office's annual budget, or enough to hire four legislative assistants to handle the concerns of constituents in her New York district. Yet when one of the brothers alerted the office to the massive loss, the chief of staff signed a form that quietly reconciled the missing equipment in the office budget, the official told TheDCNF. Abid Awan remained employed by the office for months after the loss of the equipment was flagged.

Separately, the brothers are suspected to have orchestrated a long-running fraud scheme in which the office would purchase equipment in a way that avoided tracking by central House-wide administrators. They’re suspected of working with an employee of CDW Government Inc. — one of the Hill’s largest technology providers — to alter invoices in order to avoid tracking.

I don't know what's going on here. Maybe the Awan brothers were selling government-bought equipment on the side.

But if that's the case, why have so many Democrats seemed to affirmatively help them evade detection and prosecution? And even avoid losing their jobs?

Some continue to speculate that Democrats' were protecting the Awan Clan due to blackmail, or the Awan gang having compromising information about them. (What was this crew really hired to do, for example?)

I have no idea if that's the answer. But we do need some answers. To quote Mr. Plinkett, it would be best if the media took more of an investigative interest in this mystery than none at all.

27 Obligatory: Unnamed sources who are not providing original documents and thus should be presumed untrue even though the DCNF is one of the few organizations doing actual investigative work still. Remember, folks, be most skeptical of stories that confirm your bias.

I want to focus on the whole paperwork bit of it. If this is true, then we are talking about yet more ways to avoid public accountability.

The public should know how public money is being spent so here's an organization to track expenditures. And here's the form to simply remove items from that tracking.

The public has the right to know about the information and decisions being made by the government so here are the laws requiring use of government email and mandatory retention thereof. And here's your gmail account that you can use to email the real stuff to me on my account.

It is fundamental that American courts engage in open and public review of cases because private court actions are in violation of the most dearly held principles of justice. And here's the entire secret docket where matters are being determined, not just under seal, but with no public acknowledgment that the case even exists.

And then there's FISA courts.

It's as if the moment there is a push to make the rulers accountable to the ruled, the ruled exempt themselves.

31 Just try to imagine - try - the number of blockbuster, real, consequential, mega-scandal investigative stories that have been simply foregone the last 8 years.

Most are literally unknown to an NPR listener. Even the known ones were completely undeveloped (Hillary's massive systematic violations of the Espionage Act, for example, and the associated obstruction of justice, and the unbelievable, who knows possibly criminal itself, non-investigation by the FBI).

Obama's scandals started his very first week, with the illegal firing of an inspector general. They never let up. And yet they never got off the ground.

Of course the absence of an opposition political party was another factor.

There is a big nest of corruption, and the outsider we sent to clean it up was immediately put under unlimited investigation by the leftist "mob", the same mob that covers up for Hillary.

It will take groups like judicial watch to apply the pressure from the outside, but they have FOIAs delayed for years, then heavily redacted.

DWS/Awan was running a parallel server structure, similar to Hillary's, this one pay-to-play for DNC access and miscellaneous skullduggery, including election-rigging, debate-rigging, thugs attacking RNC and their payoffs, etc. The DWS laptop is a doorway to that structure, in the same way Weiner's laptop is to Hillary's.

The money is an instance of payola. Its hidden as expenses for work and/or equipment, like every other congressman who 'hired' Awan and family is.

Hillary's speech fees were for access to hers.

Knowing this, one could, if one were inclined, compile a list of persons of interest for both cases.

But no one is so inclined. Ever wonder why?

As I've mentioned before, I used to help run a company that operated data centers/interconnection centers (aka peering and the like). We had over 30 across the country and overseas at one point.

We had Amazon as a customer for a while when they were getting going in a couple sites. It rapidly became more cost effective for them to build their own sites.

The single determining factor in their, and almost everyones now, is power. It's not even so much about how much it costs, its is there enough available. It really is an interesting and huge problem for data center operators. And an extremely expensive one in both capital and operating budgets.

Never believe it when a company like Amazon talks about going green. They suck power like a $5 crack whore.

169 Sites for Datacenters are highly dependent upon the existing infrastructure in the electrical grid being able to provide what they need.

The size of the centers are always discussed in terms of KVa; i hear the numbers go by but it never makes sense to me (I'm not an electrical engineer.)

Unfortunately, it has created an atmosphere even more fucked up than previously obtained. Have you noticed that McCain and RNC leadership act *exactly* like a group of echo-chamber forum freaks? Down to similar expressions and united aims that go unstated to the public at large? Because they are.

183 >>I can just sort of understand that and it's something I never really considered before. The draws are designed at maximum utility while the provision is still assuming some loss.

The problem is actually even more complex. Planning for power in a site is usually done by calculating the amount of power needed per square foot * square footage of the facility. But that number is not constant, not remotely.

As technology gets smaller and more powerful the power needs go up. How much is the big question. It's a real problem when you are building a site that costs tens and even millions of dollars depending on the size. And you never want to build a site and not be able to provide an ever increasing amount of both AC and DC power.

You know you use a lot of power when you can get utilities to build entirely new transmission facilities for you.

Shooting target range in schools. I went to a rural school and we had a shooting club that shot our rifles (22's) in the basement of the highschool. Now urban schools could pickup on this, with pistols as the gun of choice.

That is my assumption, frankly. (You left out low intelligence, but that's probably understood.)

I view it as a tacit admission that the wearer realizes he's a loser, and is attempting to assert himself through this pathetic mechanism, little realizing that any employer will instantly grasp that this joker has zero judgment, and will employ him - if at all - in a menial position.

I learned healthy respect/fear for threats in the lab. 265 I've seen tell that DWS was getting the head guy's bone, hence her protection of him and paying his salary.~brain bleach applied~

I've seen too that this family is tied to Pockeystahn's ISI by blood, you know, the ones that hid OBL in plain view. This Awan bunch have had over a decade of access to the rats' 'puter generated/received stuff--all of it. Some of these rats were on Intel Committees and there was definitely super secret shit being pilfered and either given to ISI or sold to anyone (hint: Russia). The Awans also grifted big time with car dealerships and other ventures paid for with Other People's Money. The reference to Seal Team 6 getting hit is prolly due to these fucks, nee, the treasonous rats that don't give a rat's ass about national security.

The wages/salary paid and other favored nation treatment they got is extraordinary. DWS' boy toy got nailed wiring $300 large to Pockystahn, money from the Congressional Credit Union (another perk) which he lied to get, i.e., he had an in with them.

Therein, the circle comes full circle: Why the fuck did they get so much moolah and access and what did they do with it? I hope the truth outs because it really is extraordinary.

267 I have a 6'' metal lathe. I am hyper careful about sleeves and loose clothing when I am using it.

Good friend, experienced, careful. Slipped and cut almost entirely through a little finger using a table saw.

A surgeon managed to reattach it, but could not reattach and make useful the ligaments. The surgeon offered my friend two options:

A. Reattach, but crooked in a fashion that could never be altered.

B. Amputation.

My friend asked the surgeon, "Look, if I chose Option A, isn't Option B always available later?"

Surgeon said "Yup". My friend went with Option A. Looking at his hand, you would never suspect anything was wrong with it.

Ah, lab accidents.

I've put out fires on two people's heads (only one in my lab), worn a respirator twice to fight fires (neither in my lab), fought nine fires and two explosions overall, crawled across a floor on all fours (to remain below bench height, just in case) to cut power and water to a still about to explode (not in my lab either), and had a colleague blinded by an explosion (through sheer bad luck, he'd taken off his safety glasses to wipe his brow on a hot day).

I pass over retards who brought ferromagnetic tools too close to superconducting magnets and got a gym workout trying unsucessfully to avoid a nasty (and expensive) surprise.

271 A grad student using the hood in my lab caused a small explosion

One of my colleagues had a big-ass explosion that blew out all the windows in one wing of the chem department, and bent the window frames. Damned impressive, it was.

Fortunately, the nitwit responsible stepped out of the lab just before the excitement.

277 "The $120,000 figure amounts to about a tenth of the office's annual budget, or enough to hire four legislative assistants to handle the concerns of constituents in her New York district."

No way is the fully allocated cost (unemployment insurance, workman's comp, etc.) of a full-time legislative assistant only $30,000. In New York you might get 2-1/2 people for 120 large even if you're paying peanuts.
