The National Laughingstock Tries to Argue That People are Drawn to Left-Wing Violence For Reasons Other Than Left-Wing Violence, But Can't Offer Any Actual Other Reasons for the Attraction

I've noticed a trend in media. It's the piece that is all Headline Argument. It exists purely to be linked (by people who haven't read it) in a Twitter argument.

If I say "Leftwing violent goons are authoritarians who get off on violence," someone will link this article and just say "That's been like so totally debunked. See THIS LINK!!!"

Because the headline claims it's been debunked.

But John Sexton digs into the article and can't find any arguments in it to actually support the headline -- it seems leftwing fascists are attracted to leftwing fascism almost entirely for the leftwing fascism.

The National Laughingstock claims to have debunked this idea -- but hasn't. It's just written a linkable clicky This Will Win Me the Twitterz today headline with no evidence for the claims it makes.

95 That's nothing new. When I started reading political content, around 2001 or so, I read articles from both viewpoints, but something funny happened. In most left-leaning articles, I found that if I followed the links, the supposedly supporting information either didn't support the authors point at all, or even contradicted it, if it was not completely irrelevant. For conservative articles, the links virtually always supported the premise of the original piece.

That's pretty much what confirmed me as a conservative: the Left is full of shit, and most lefties are too intellectually lazy to do the work to figger that out.

I had my first experience with this in the wild this week. A perfectly charming twenty minute conversation with another parent at a playground abruptly ended when the stranger brought up Obama and I didn't fawn. Notice especially that I didn't say anything mean or negative, only that I chuckled about not touching politics or religion.

The conversation was f*cking OVER, and they moved to another bench. Not another word was spoken and they left immediately after our kids were playing near one another. Not together. Just on the same climbing wall / slide.

Our country is f*cked.

happened. In most left-leaning articles, I found that if I followed the
links, the supposedly supporting information either didn't support the
authors point at all, or even contradicted it, if it was not completely
irrelevant. For conservative articles, the links virtually always
supported the premise of the original piece.

That's pretty much what confirmed me as a conservative: the Left is
full of shit, and most lefties are too intellectually lazy to do the
work to figger that out.

The real eye opener for me - despite already being fairly hardcore conservative - was after I started getting more deep into politics, consuming political information online, where verification is just a click away.

After boning up on whatever event, issue, quote, etc. of the day, thereby being more informed than the talking heads, you can rebut the script readers' received wisdom in real-time. Wife thought me crazy for talking to the TV for a few years, until her eyes were opened in 2016.

TV news is so riddled through with propaganda that it is essentially useless.

What did it for me was C-SPAN radio. I would listen to a hearing or speech during my commute, or while running errands at lunch, and then when I watched the news that night I would see how they would take one brief clip to completely mischracterize the event and/or people involved.

Yes, it's amazing how the 60's Weathermen and other decades-long activists pop up with each "new" movement, always on the spot to provide training to #BLM, OWS, etc.. It's almost like they're the ones creating each of these totally organic grassroots movements.

Oh, and Code Pink and various Weathermen have led activist movements in the ME, such as helping them stage a 'Day of Rage' a few years back, and naturally working with Hamas to protest Israel.

166 Years ago, my little brother and I spent 2 hours a day, 6 days a week at the gym lifting. I got pretty buff and increased my weight by about 30 lbs, all lean muscle mass. They did this thing where they brought in these people to measure body fat. When they tested me, I was told that I had about 7% body fat. The lady doing the test told me that there were pro body builders who would kill for that number, but that if I ever got sick, I had no fat reserves to fight off an infection. So it was a good thing, bad thing. Maybe this is what is happening to Ace. By the way, when I was lifting, I ate like a horse.

Yep. When I saw pictures of those school lunches, my first question was 'where is the money going, it isn't going into food'.

And in the Breitbart article, one of the vendors supplying the vegetarian meals was losing money on every meal they delivered. The school district was paying less than the vendors cost for the meal.

183 I know the ACTUAL reason for "anarchist violence" and why certain people are drawn to it. And I know this better than most people do because I've hung out with the anarchists and observed them up-close in action.

And the answer boils down to one word:

Testosterone.

Fact: 90% of self-styled "anarchists" these days are young, mostly under 25, and often under 21. And among those, it's at least 80% male.

Young dudes have a lot of testosterone. For some, this primarily make them horny -- these are the dudes that spend their days trying to get laid.

But for others, the surging testosterone give them primarily the other well-known effect: The urge to fight. To smash. To defeat rivals.

In the old days, such men would join the military or the police and get legal permission to shoot bad guys. Or just become street brawlers or gang members.

But in the modern pussified white middle-class urban culture, all these outlets -- military, police work, etc. -- are socially taboo.

But damn, these young hipsters-getting-their-first-taste-of-hormones get this overwhelming urge to just start smashing shit up.

So what they've done is create a politicized identity and social "role" for themselves where "smashing things" and "still fighting for peace and justice" can co-exist: the violent anarchist.

It's no different, of course, from any number of paramilitary politicized "shock troop" subcultures from all phases of history -- the brown shirts, the Red Guard, etc. etc. -- but we're have the unfortunate luck of living through this manifestation of "political testosterone acting-out."
