Is telling me to go there
So I'll follow my nose
Go wherever it goes

It's calling from around the corner
Waiting just outside of town
Trailing vapors sweet and tangy
Daring me to track it down

So fresh!
I'll search until I find it
So fresh!
I'm closing in behind it
So fresh!
Nothing could be better
So fresh!
Like I died and went to heaven

Nice. Mac from Military Arms Channel reviewed one of those. Biggest problem he encountered was iffy strikes on surplus ammo. That's something that's hard to get around, considering that ammo was meant to be fired from an open bolt SMG, not a hammer fired semiauto conversion. Have you had that problem?

248 Confession Booth:

I used a Google product the other day, and it was actually pretty great.

It's their little-known tool called "Google Flights": It's a way to cross-compare prices for air-travel seats using a variety of criteria and filters. If you know how to master it, you can always find the cheapest flight to any destination on day day for any length of time, and (most importantly) see, visually in graphs and charts, how altering some small parameter of your trip can lower your price significantly. Using this tool, I found flights from the SF Bay Area to England for $340 round-trip! These are not one-time-only discount gimmick fares, but just regular fares -- if you know how to find them.

And unlike with the infinitely worse Orbitz or Travelocity and similar sites, which force you to book through them and which take a commission, all Google Flights does is inform you of the prices -- it's up to you to then buy the tickets on your own, not "through" the app. Just a pure information source.

Using Google Flights is like having the Master Key to all flight information and pricing, enabling incredible savings if you use it skillfully.

So -- am I going to boycott Google for political reasons, and thereby penalize myself financially, just to "prove a point"? No? And, frankly, neither will most other people.

If you make a good product, you will get customers. Period.

Now, if Google's discriminatory hiring practices and evil corporate decisions eventually impact the end-user so that they start producing crappy products, then yeah, they'll start hemorrhaging customers. And that may happen eventually. But it hasn't happened yet.

Yep, but that's not all. I used to comment at Salon in order to probe the lefty psyche, which is quite scary, btw. I asked several people why they call him Drumpf, and the answer was often that Trump is against immigration, but he's an immigrant and he even changed his last name to sound less German.

Then I would tell them that, no, that was Trump's grandfather who imigrated here and changed his last name. President Trump was born with that name. This fact made no impression on them.

On an earlier thread people were wondering about the difference between Slate and Salon, if any. Slate is horrible, but Salon is several degrees worse. A lot of the commenters there are mentally ill with violent tendencies. One of them even thought I was a man who's been stalking her sister in meatspace. Sick people.

There was a story that was originally published in Penthouse I think, about the town somewhere in eastern Europe where all the women were trained in the art of oral sex. It was a point of pride for them.

Grandmothers would teach their granddaughters, and the older the girls got, the fewer teeth they had, so...

In that case, less was more.

That's the term they're using for people who set up tents or canopies on the beach.

And yes, the Mayor and Council are all dems but for one lonely rep.

A couple of years ago they banned smoking on the beach and boardwalk. Now the locals are complaining that people are smoking in front of their houses and leaving butts. How long before they make like Nanny Bloomberg and ban smoking in the whole town?

340 Since we're a gun thread (!), here's my range report from last weekend.

I have...too many handgus. I'm trying to cut down some, so up on the block was my G36, G21 (which I'm keeping regardless) and an XD 45 Compact and XD 45 full size.

I put a couple of hundred rounds through them. In the end...the XD Compact is going to go.

The G36 is barely controlable with Talon grips for me. The XD Compact is not. Terrible groups.

The XD45 fits my hand better, not sure how they managed to keep that small grip circumference but it's so much nicer than the 'brick' feel of the G21.

But the accuracy was pretty much a wash. The XD45 grouped better at slow fire, but only slightly. (Ergonomics don't mean everything, apparently) The Glock 21 shot better rapid fire and controlled the felt recoil a little better.

Apart from the XD 45 Compact, the other loser was the ammo I was using. The Speer 200 grain TMJ is designed to mimic their HP defensive load. It did not feed reliable. All 4 handguns experienced at least one failure to feed with this ammo. These are guns that swallow everything I've fed them, from cheap Tula ammo to full power defense loads.

So I can't recommend the Speer TMJs to anyone.

The G36 will stay as a summer pistol. The XD 45 did well enough to stay around too. The G21 is my EDC for most of the year now.

Actually, the Crew was overperforming up until the All Star break. Nobody expected a team in rebuilding mode to be in first place in the NL Central in July. It helped that the Cubs and Cards also had a crappy first half. Since then, the Cubs and Cards have heated up while the Brewers offense, which was really good in the first half has fallen apart.

God knows what is up with the Giants. Too many aging players, perhaps?

If you throw colossal amounts of money at educating the populace, for decades, and they still end up "under-educated", maaaaaaaaaaaaybe money isn't the problem.

358 I don't care much about metal vs polymer. I have both. I carried a '92 for ten years, then switched to Glocks/ XD.

I have a Tangolio Witness that is all metal, beautiful and accurate as hell.

But I mostly carry poly pistols, like the G21, for the weight savings and polymer frames seem to absorb recoil a touch more than metal frames.

Whatever you pick, go with what fits your hand, with what you'll actually carry every day.

I'm surprised she didn't say poor job opportunities, since that's the root cause of ISIS according to the Obama admin.

How about incentives?

What incentives is Baltimore giving these violent criminals to change their ways? If I were a rapist or gang member, I would not stop just because they announced better training for the PD (yawn), or there are some free courses they want me to take (why would I take time off from fun and revenue generating activities to take classes?). However, if they announced something like Guiliani's Broken window policy, hiring N more policemen, and warned me that they would catch me and prosecute to the fullest...? Well, if I am a farmer on Crete, out working in the fields, and German paratroops suddenly descend out of the clear blue sky to invade my country, I can't shoot at them because I'm not wearing a uniform? That's beyond silly. You are essentially giving the Germans authority to invade because Hugo Boss designed their suits.

Look, I can understand the rules for partisans being required to identify with brassards or whatever, once the invading force has become the de facto occupying power.

Paratroopers are attacking troops, period. They are legitimate targets for whoever is being attacked.

I use a Crossbreed MiniTuck for my Kahr CW9. I can actually wear it with nothing but an untucked T-Shirt and it'll conceal with almost no printing. Fairly comfortable too.

The only problem with it is as much a problem with the Kahr. When reholstering, the front edge of the slide stop tends to catch on the top edge of the leather. Just needs some retraining to cant the muzzle a bit when inserting into the holster.

414 One of the shared stupidities of the left is that they're all convinced that more education fixes everything. If only people just had more learnin' they'd stop being so mean and bad!

Its one of those really pernicious lies that clings to inner cities in particular. They think its schooling, not ambition and character, that changes people and leads to financial success. They think that going to college somehow makes someone successful and rich.

Education doesn't fix low intelligence.

415 Not true. You've heard Glen Campbell countless times -- without realizing it. He was the guitarist for about half all all hit records made in the early-mid sixties, as the leading session musician in LA. If you've heard the Monkees, the Beach Boys, Elvis Presley, Nat King Cole, etc. etc. etc., you've heard Glen Campbell.

He wasn't just a studio musician for The Beach Boys, he toured with them, and ultimately left because they wouldn't make him a full member of the group.

416 Well, if I am a farmer on Crete, out working in the fields, and German paratroops suddenly descend out of the clear blue sky to invade my country, I can't shoot at them because I'm not wearing a uniform? That's beyond silly. You are essentially giving the Germans authority to invade because Hugo Boss designed their suits.

Look, I can understand the rules for partisans being required to identify with brassards or whatever, once the invading force has become the de facto occupying power.

Paratroopers are attacking troops, period. They are legitimate targets for whoever is being attacked.

Sure. The thing is that them killing you is also cool, and so is them killing you even after you have surrendered. If I understand things correctly, they can give you a short trial and shoot you and nobody will give a shit (unless they are Palestinian or whatever), whereas if you are wearing a uniform, and shoot at them, and you surrender, you are a POW and the opposing gov't can negotiate/fight for your release. If you are a soldier, then you have whatever protection your national govt can extend. If you aren't, YOYOMF.

417 114 Speaking of caliber size, does anyone have any opinions on holster alternatives like clip draw? I was thinking of getting one for my M&P Shield 9mm. I myself would like the fact that I wouldn't have the bulkiness of a holster to contend with.

IWB holsters aren't usually that bulky.

I use a "Sticky" holster for my S&W model 59. It's IWB and stays in place if/when you draw your pistol.
