Don't know about where they are at but around these parts if the po-po can charge 3 separate misdemeanors for the same crime they can combine them all into one Class C felony. I'm guessing that's what was meant by the "because of circumstances" blurb.

It is higher for infants, but I believe it is one adult to 12 students for the "school age" and it is normal to have two adults so one can ride herd on the kids while the other does potty.

84 The problem with acting against Venezuela, kinda from the last thread.

We don't need to do any military intervention to bring Venezuela down - as the US is still the largest importer and refiner of Venezuelan crude, we could destroy what's left of their economy by simply placing an embargo on Venezuelan crude and banning American affiliated companies from shipping it anywhere else. They could still get some out, but the vast majority of the heavy-crude refineries they need are located in the Gulf Coast of the US.

So why don't we do this, and why haven't they started to sell to other nations to lower their risk? Because heavy crude, like Venezuela produces, is difficult stuff to refine. The US has 15 - 20 refineries set up specifically to handle it, and they're aren't near that many available anywhere else in the world. They could be built, but that would take a lot of time and money.

Trump's problem is that an embargo would mean an immediate shutdown of these 15 - 20 refineries, which would create an immediate product shortage here in the US with an accompanying spike in gasoline and other product prices on the domestic market. These refineries can be refitted, but it would take several months and a good bit of money before they're back on line. The US would have gasoline shortages and price disruptions until then.

So Trump can break Venezuela, but only at the cost of a domestic economic crisis that could cause a great deal of blowback for him from his base in the heartland, not to mention what the dems will say. If you were him, would you risk it, or just ignore it and wait for things to work themselves out?

I was thinking of the Bosque along the Rio Grande through New Mexico; Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge. Never did go see it when I lived out there.

So I pulled up an flyway map for the Sandhill Crane; goes through the Dakotas, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, into Texas with a faint little trail down the Rio Grande through New Mexico. Nothing along the Mississippi, but it was the only flyway map image that came up in a search.

In a word, the law was shit. Age of consent in AL is 16. That said, the age limit for the law that got the boot was...19.

Got that? This law criminalized an interaction within a three year age stripe that was otherwise legal based solely upon a specific relationship, regardless of whether there was any proof of implicit or explicit coercion.

Oh, and AL doesn't do anything similar for any other situation where there may be "power differential" or whatever the hell they called it.

The judge was right to toss this crate of bollocks out. While I agree some measure is needed to cover this shit (I prefer something in the collective bargaining agreements since we're stuck with teachers' unions), but it needs to be a lot better thought out and crafted than this one was.

I appreciate the sentiment, but constitutionally there's no way that should be included in the criminal code. What if it's an adult education class, and the student is 10 years older than the teacher? Freedom of association, constitutional violation.

At most it could be part of a civil employment contract.

I had a boss once, we called him "Big John" becasuse he was built like and looked a lot like John Candy, except he was even bigger - he had a suburban he loved, since he swore it was the most comfortable thing he ever drove. One day he was driving in town, waiting on a red light, and hit the gas when the light turn green. Both the supports holding his seat back upright snapped and he was left laying in his back staring up at the ceiling with his foot on the gas. (Damn we could never stop laughing when he told us that story) Somehow he got stopped without hitting anyone.

He swore for years he would sue GM, and we would always bite our tongues and look at the wall and try not to say "yeah, we can't think of anything that would have put so much stress on that car seat that it finally just snapped in two!!!"

Treating them like a utility is one approach. Another may be to expose their deceptive practices of censoring certain views by selective enforcement of vague policy. Conservatives get shut down (Twitter/You-Tube/Facebook) for non-PC ideas, whereas in reality it is the PC Fascism that inspires the hate and suggests violence. There is no religious freedom grounds like the gay wedding cake thing ... it is just censorship.

The last "civilian" Crown Vics were 2005 models. They continued to sell P-71 fleet units through the 2011 model year.

That said, the Mercury Grand Marquis labeled (identical) version of the 'Vic, was also sold through the 2011 year. So, shop for one of those Grand Marquis, if it's a "car" that you want.

Otherwise? It's pretty much an SUV world, these days. Larger cars are out there, but most all of 'em will be from various "luxury" marques, with the price tags to match.

BTW. Any Crown Vic or Grand Marquis, 2003 or later, has the updated suspension which really put their handling on-par with nearly any large, luxury brand.

Son swears by trucks. The newer ones have very nice cabs with seating for 4-5. He is 6'5"+ and approx 300 lbs. Nothing else fits his head and leg room (he doesn't look that fat). Some of the minivans are still put on a truck body and can accommodate taller people. His wife is 6'1", so they really need head and leg room.

The LEDs can be bought on Ebay direct from China, avoiding the middle man big markup. Amazon is convenient, but I can save on many items by avoiding them via Ebay, and prefer to cut them out when possible to diminish Bezos. You do have to take it before exposure to radioactive iodine which is released in fuel exposure or a nuclear release. It saturates the thyroid with non radiative Iodine so that you will not get any more that is radioactive.

Well, it's only effective at preventing thyroid cancer caused by ingesting I-131, the radioactive form of iodine that occurs as a fission product, and it has to be taken no more than 24 hours prior to any exposure to that substance. It does nothing to prevent harm resulting from exposure to other sources of ionizing radiation.

There's nothing to be gained by taking it until the bomb falls or another Chernobyl happens upwind of you.

I don't think the FDA regs see it as acutely toxic to adults over 40; more it's a case of them being less susceptible to the risk of thyroid cancer caused by uptake of I-131.

In any case, if a bomb falls, there are a lot more immediate things to worry about than the possibility of getting thyroid cancer.

Taking Jealousy and Envy to be different facets of the same fundamental "Sin" seems to be a sensible idea. Avarice, then, being simply the unhealthy desire to accumulate, regardless of the source. Envy being the desire to have at least as much, if not more, as another person. One is in reference to the self, the other is in reference to another.

Both tie in to the idea kicking around earlier that all sins derive from Pride:

I deserve more. I deserve what you have. You don't deserve what I have. Et cetera.

*(as another side note, the Catechism really doesn't have an awful lot to say about Sin as a concept, which I found surprising given the caricatures of the faith I grew up believing.)

Reminds me of a story I heard back in the 1980s. Those of you who are old enough no doubt remember how at one time there were movie theaters on practically every street corner in every town and city of any size. Houston was no exception. A few of these were not just theaters, but "movie palaces", as they were called. Very large and elaborate places, very nice and posh.

There was one movie palace in Houston called the Metropolitan, located in downtown Houston. Originally built in the early 1920s, the Metropolitan was probably the fanciest movie theater in town.

But as we know, times changed and in the 1970s the fancy one screen theaters began to be replaced by the "multiplex" theaters that are still around today.

In the early 1980s the Metropolitan was sold, and scheduled for demolition. When the crew arrived they are looking around the place and someone checked the rear exit door of the theater. They found a light bulb over the door, still lit, and no off switch could be found anywhere on the electrical circuit to which it was attached.

The bulb was found to be an old Edison light bulb, installed when the theater was built in the 1920s, and it was still burning, all those years later....

I know, radio, but does anyone know of any evidence (like swastikas, white hoods, racist slogans etc.) that the people protesting the statues removal are to a significant extent associated with racist groups? To me, the media is the boy who cried wolf. I hope the people defending the statue are well armed and able to protect themselves from people trying to run them over and otherwise physically assault them. AFAIK, it's always been the left at these confrontations that instigates the violence.

He's already been on tv condemning violence from all sides.

As to Duke, he's repeatedly disavowed him and says he doesn't want his support. It doesn't matter, the media will always put a mic in front of Duke and ask him to comment on Trump because they know they will get a juicy soundbite.

bleah. I'm half Jewish and half Chinese... I would prefer it if they weren't white supremacists. I still don't know if their part in the protest is being blown up out of proportion.

But consider:
i) antifas/BLM are just as racist
ii) antifas/BLM do not just use rhetoric, they instigate physical violence.
iii) the media, judges, Dem politicians, police all seem to be siding with the antifas/BLM.

In short the antifas worry me far more that the white supremacists/nationalists, which is mostly just "Boo!" language that the leftist media trots out, like "Russians!"

The media is doubling down supporting an evil group of people in order to legitimize their attacks on random, innocent people, destruction of property, re-writing of history, censorship, etc. THEY are the main problem.

My point is it will never end. This is a game the media plays and they've been doing it the entire election. Hell, they've been doing it with Duke and other Republicans politicians for years. No matter how many times they disavow the asshole they just keep asking them to disavow him again.

And Duke loves the game. He knows there is always a willing reporter around to stick a mic in his face so he can spew his garbage. Like playing tic tac toe, the only way to win is not to play the game.

What I would really like Trump to do is give a statement and specifically talk about left wing racist and violent groups who have been stoking these flames for year. I have no use for white racists but it is completely dishonest to ignore the violence of groups like BLM and antifa and La Raza and on and on and on.
