I was lucky enough to be able to visit several historical sites in England and Scotland last year. These tiles remind me of many I saw, still in use - it's amazing to see tiles produced in the 1200's that have the color and artistry (in fact, often better artistry) as anything produced today.

"Still laid in their original position, the tiles show the footprint of a long lost medieval building and they also reflect the importance of the abbey attached to the royal patronage it enjoyed in the 13th century.
The Heraldry of King Henry III, his brother, Richard, Earl of Cornwall, King of the Romans and the mighty earls of Gloucester all feature." =================== Cool. Posted by: grammie winger at August 05, 2017 10:54 AM (lwiT4) 9

Sign language.
Premjee was charged in May with rape by use of drugs and sexual penetration by a foreign object. On Monday, Premjee's attorney, Harland Braun, said the judge tossed out the case after the defense presented video evidence that showed consent. . . . Braun said Premjee and the woman were at Banditos Tacos & Tequila, near the USC campus, that night in April and that security footage showed them waiting for an Uber ride. "There was a camera outside that captured the girl signaling to her friend that she was going to have intercourse with my client," Braun said. The woman, he said, made motions with her hands that indicated sexual activity. "There could never be any better evidence of there being consent," Braun said. He added: "She was the aggressor." My own city is celebrating its tricentennial next year, but 300 years isn't really that old. That's when the Spanish settled here. Indians have been camping here for thousands of years, but they were nomads who didn't build cities--no agriculture. Not many know this, but in my neighborhood is a 10,000 year old Indian grave site. The bodies were covered with deer antlers and they wore shell pendants traded from coastal Indians. The grave has been covered back up with concrete and then grass and it's unmarked so no one will mess with it. Posted by: stace at August 05, 2017 11:36 AM (qYk3T) 98

STILL at JFK waiting for my flight. First they said it was delayed, then it was cancelled, then the replacement flight was overbooked and I got bumped then that replacement flight was overbooked and I got bumped AGAIN and then the flight I was rebooked on was on the other side of the airport and by the time I ran over there no one was at the gate and I watched it pull out and the flight crew saw me and waved to me from the cockpit! It was almost like they did it on purpose! Now I'm booked on the 1AM flight tonight with three stops between here and LA. Let's hope nothing bad happens again. I'm heading over to the Dunkin Donuts now because I overheard them saying bad things about Hillary!

Posted by: redc1c4 at August 05, 2017 11:10 AM (BOtYp) Well, since we are completely unmoored ethically and are only allowed to think what we are told to think, we need the media to tell us whether they are lewd or not. We are no longer able to determine these things based on common sense or basic decency. In other circumstances, we might be told that something objectively lewd is actually not. I believe this is true, but it's a bit muddled because of the fractured SCOTUS opinions in the Pentagon Papers case. Which led me to suggest that the WaPo reporter who bragged on Morning Joe yesterday about leaking the transcripts of Trump's calls with foreign leaders should have been arrested walking off the set. Trouble is that it's a fight that Bezos and the Deep State want. Way to do it is with a test case where the facts show the likes of the WaPo conspired to get leaked classified materials, not just responding to a so-called whistle blower. Robert Mueller: "I Demand That Robert Mueller Be Fired Immediately!"
The Legal-ish Strategery of the Cockroach Coup: Impeach Now! * Giving subpoena powers to a staff of Hillary's bundlers. * Hiring prosecutor Preet Bagheera, who falsely whined he was fired for investigating Trump instead of taking it like a man. * Leaking Everything, All the Time(tm) because of the Impeccable Integrity(tm). * Going after President Trump's businesses. * and now, going after Trump's family, targeting Donald Trump, Jr. for talking to the Russian lawyer sent over to Trump Tower by the Clintons and Obama. President Trump values his business background. But more than anything, he values his family. That is why Mueller is targeting them both. Clearly, Robert Mueller is screaming to be fired. He is trying to bait President Trump into firing him to force the pre-planned impeachment hearings, which were planned by Obama and his National Security toadies before Trump even won. And are being stage-managed out of the Obamabunker and Valerie Jarrett's spare bedroom even as we speak. We are in the midst of a coup. Not a metaphorical coup, kidz; an actual coup attempt by the Perma-Blob, the Administrative State. You have chosen a president they do not accept. And they mean to cancel your choice. "I'd love to have a vintage roadster but I think if I got one people would point and laugh at the old guy having the mid-life crisis."
Bottom line to me is that doing what you reasonably want to do, can afford, and have the time for is a benefit of being say, older with a few more dollars. If by vintage you mean an old hot rod, if you check out the car shows, quite a few (it seems to me most) of the owners are not 20 and 30 year olds. We only go around once. That being said, imo some of it is personal style. If you drive it around in South Beach in Miami (where everyone seems under 25) wearing a "Women Love Me-Fish Fear Me" t-shirt or a tank top and shades channeling some rocker, it probably won't have a great look. I know a professional guy in his mid 50's who bought a very prominent professional athlete's Mercedes with all sorts of fins and tricked out stuff. Exactly the kind of car you would expect a 23 year old pro athlete, freshly minted, multi-millionaire to have. The professional guy looked really silly in it. "When I was driving home from work last night, I saw a couple of old-fashioned hot rods. They were probably on their way to a car show.\"
When my son was younger we used to go to these shows a few times a year. I've mused a few times about having one of those cars and hanging out with my son at one of the shows with the car a few times a year. We're both too busy to invest the time to maintain something like that, and it's really too expensive as a "once in a while" thing. I think for most of the people that participate, that is kind of their primary hobby which occupies a fair bit of their time. Maybe like having a pretty expensive boat. If you have it, you love it and use it a lot, and if you aren't, you want to be. Plus mid-Atlantic weather is not ideal for that. Nice to daydream about, though. BTW... if you take away the illegals and the fraudulent votes, I'd bet that Trump won in a landslide. Posted by: shibumi at August 05, 2017 01:27 PM (aT+Bx) There's no doubt in my mind. Posted by: rickl at August 05, 2017 02:11 PM (sdi6R) 181
The Voting Commissions can do a lot to show fraudulent voting using databases the way that sophisticated market research is done.
e.g. identifying specific dead people voting. A lot of pundits will be exposed. Posted by: Ignoramus at August 05, 2017 02:14 PM (pV/54) 182

Posted by: RM at August 05, 2017 02:08 PM (U3LtS) Our son, back before moving away and getting married and changing priorities was trying to rebuild a 1970 GMC pickup. It sat in our driveway for at least two years. During that time he sandblasted the undercarriage at least twice. At that time he worked as a mechanic and going from working on cars at work and coming home to do the same thing was too much for him. He ended up selling the truck. I've thought about that too. IMO they think that they will have control of the military & would be able to put down any unrest. They are probably right. When people were not in the streets over the bank bailout it sent a terrible message. That they could do pretty much anything. Which is why GS was not re-implemented & banks are still behaving the same. The GOP has't done what they promised, and they are still in office. I mean seriously, who is gonna vote for the Left at this point? Now we have this coup going on. And not a lot of push-back really. JMO, of course. Subject to change. But they don't seem afraid to me. They seem very confidant. The forefathers all warned about this. Just like Winston Churchill fretted about Europe's future. And Ghaddafi (sp?) said he foresaw the takeover of Europe without a single shot being fired. And it is all happening. As a school kid, could never understand how the Nazi's & Holocaust happened. Now I do. OT/French Press coffee good Deer ticks - very, very, very bad. *shudder* Posted by: Mel at August 05, 2017 02:28 PM (puePS) Posted by: washrivergal at August 05, 2017 02:32 PM (2+gSO) 185

This is how I see it shaping up:
The GOP wing of the Deep State is actively sabotaging Trump's agenda. Should we reward their behavior by re-electing them in 2018? Then we'll get more of the same. If conservative voters sit out the 2018 election in disgust, then the Democrat wing of the Deep State will take control of Congress and start impeachment proceedings. If the Left ever gets back in power, the gloves will come off. They have made it very clear that white middle-class deplorables are standing in the way of their Progressive Utopia, and they will stop at nothing to neutralize us, if not outright liquidate us. Then it's game on. Posted by: rickl at August 05, 2017 02:45 PM (sdi6R) Posted by: Maserati c. 1980 at August 05, 2017 02:49 PM (BJ6sd) 188

By which I mean that I'm not inclined to reward the GOPe's behavior by re-electing them.
By all means, let's try to primary them. But primary challenges of incumbents are a long shot uphill battle. If the ratfucker incumbents survive the primary challenge, I'm not inclined to vote for them. I'd either sit it out or, in the case of Ryan, McConnell, or McCain, I'd vote for the Democrat in the general election. I'm tired of enabling their ratfuckery. Ryan's game is that he wants to be POTUS. He'd have been happier positioning himself against Hillary in 2020 as a Reasonable Centrist.
So now he wants to undermine Trump. This shithead can't see that the GOP voters are changing. He's blind to this because he's been in DC too long. If seen as an anti-Trump he'll have no future. Denying him the speakership may become necessary in 2018 Posted by: Ignoramus at August 05, 2017 03:04 PM (04xvs) 191

190. Totally agree on Paul Ryan. That is his end game & controls his actions.
Remember when he took that EU Tour? It got worse after that. I'm sure EU heads flattered him. And I'm sure the Deep State is also holding out a carrot to him if he plays the game. Posted by: Mel at August 05, 2017 04:07 PM (Lpui/) 197
