Sarah Carter/Circa.com: FBI Special Counsel Under Investigation for Leaking Classified Information

The problem with draining a swamp is that there's nothing to uncover by draining it, except deeper swamp.

FBI General Counsel James A. Baker is purportedly under a Department of Justice criminal investigation for allegedly leaking classified national security information to the media, according to multiple government officials close to the probe who spoke with Circa on the condition of anonymity.

FBI spokeswoman Carol Cratty said the bureau would not comment on Baker and would not confirm or deny any investigation. Baker did not return comment when Circa attempted to reach him through the FBI.

This comes as Department of Justice Attorney General Jeff Sessions said he would soon be making an announcement regarding the progress of leak investigations. A DOJ official declined to comment on Circa’s inquiry into Baker but did say, the planned announcement by Sessions is part of the overall "stepped up efforts on leak investigations."

Three sources, with knowledge of the apparent investigation, told Circa that Baker is the top suspect in an ongoing leak investigation, but Circa has not been able to confirm the details of what national security information or material was allegedly leaked.

Seriously, who gets a new job and says, "Yeah, I know you already have a server. I'm not going to be using that for my email. Thanks all the same." You just can't do something like that unless you have a deep sense of entitlement that rules are for hoi polloi, not for you.

I have tried to explain this to people before but I guess I never do a good job. Congress, etc. are supposed to be just regents, managers if you will, carrying out the provisions of the Constitution. If "The People" want something small changed they can fire their manager and hire another, and if they want a big change they can vote in an amendment to the Constitution and then the managers are expected to faithfully carry out the new way of doing things. It was a close to The People being sovereign as could be managed without mobs or constant polling of voters.

Basically, the FNM will bury Baker as a story and let Sessions have that scalp without too much complaint. Trump and Sessions playing around like you suggest only make sense if it ends up hitting Comey, Mueller, Clinton or a high level Obamunist like Rice or Powers.

"Before becoming FBI Director, and after being a prosecutor, Comey did eight years in the private sector as the head lawyer at Lockheed and Bridgewater, and was on the board at HSBC. His background didn't fit any of these positions. I'd say he was hired and paid to help fend off investigations because of his federal prosecutorial contacts.
Bridgewater is the biggest hedge fund of all. I'm speculating they had issues like what hit SAC Capital and Stevie Cohen, which was the inspiration for the TV show Billions.

If you go to a bureaucrat or a legislator and say "I'll give you* $1M to vote/rule/decide/etc my way" there is a reasonable chance you will go to jail.

That's how bribery works now.

If you go to a bureaucrat or a legislator and say "I'll give you* $1M to vote/rule/decide/etc my way" there is a reasonable chance you will go to jail.

If instead you say something like, "Vote/rule/decide/etc my way and I'll remember you later," and you then hire them for a $1M/year do nothing job you are basically within the law.

189 People are upset at Trump for tweeting policy directives (like new Transgender military policy) without consulting anyone. It's the only way they won't be leaked.
Posted by: zmdavid at July 27, 2017 03:30 PM (xqRaG)

Last night, the looking down the nose from Krauthammer and some other elite on Fox about Trump point blank issuing his directive on Twitter was hilarious. OMG, they were so offended that he didn't have some giant buildup to the announcement, with all the answers in place as to what is going to happen to current Trannies in the military. That he didn't have all his generals, his cabinet, and the full contingent of psychiatrists from the VA behind him to answer why the rights of trannies to join the military were being abridged.

The President made a decision based on consultation with affected parties and now it's up to them to roll his decision out legally . Why is he supposed to be there cradling these poor transgenders who will be discharged out with likely full military benefits? He made a decision and has moved on ....

There was a story a while ago about... Tiananmen Square IIRC, but maybe it was a different event. Anyway, China. People were posting classified ads/ announcements to the local papers about that event (coded, IIRC), or maybe other demonstrations, even though information is supposed to be censored.

Turns out the people in charge of reading the items and sending them to be printed weren't aware of the events, and didn't recognize the codes or that they weren't supposed to publish, so the truth got out.

I hope that makes sense and/or someone with a better memory can explain it better. But it's basically what you said, only in Chinese.

There are currently 250 transgenders in the military, thanks to Obama and Sec. Carter Ash's removal of the ban last year prior to the election.
It allowed for a review of the policy for a year and of course, needed transgenders to serve so they could say , Hey it works, it's great,. Ash also approved for the VA to pay for all transgender drugs, surgeries, and accomodations.

Mattis extended the time needed to study the issue before it became absolute policy for six months, and Trump now has ended it in full.

247 Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon. That could be reworked in DC as

"Two Degrees of George Soros"

Trump has Kuchner and his brother that were backed in Cadre (some real estate venture) for like $250M by Soros. Peter Thiel is in some bond fund venture with Soros. Of course every Democrat is linked to multiple groups that push misinformation or some leftist theme.

Beck back in Fox days did exposes on Soros, showing the 100 or more groups he was underwriting, all basically subversive groups like Media Matters. Soros is said to behind the drive that turned Benghazi (a short term thing) into regime change, with a view the destabilization (via Muslimization) of Europe. Plan seems to be working.

It all starts unraveling by pulling on those little leaker threads.

His financial declarations required to be a member of the WH, are public record and are on the govt. website. Rove was on Fox this morning, with his whiteboard , explaining the four steps you or I or Politico need to do to get it downloaded from the site, as part of public records.

Rove said this was just stupid out of Scaramucci right out of the gate and lessens his credibility.

270 @213 There was a story a while ago about...

---------------

It was Tiananmen Square. The ad was something along the lines of, "Remember the heroes of [date]!" The government censors, who were young kids too young to know about the demonstrations and massacre, assumed that it was a reference to some local event. 294 Wow. This just keeps getting better and better.

You need to understand the story behind Hermitage Capital and the CEO William Browder for it to make sense and it would take to long to type it all here.

But in brief, Hermitage was a financial management firm focused and working in Russia. The CEO, Browder, claimed that he was defrauded by Putin and the Russian govenment to the tune of $230 million. His Russian lawyer was a guy named Magitsky.

Magitsky uncovered the corruption and was going to expose Putin before he was thrown in jail, tortured and killed. Yea, Putin is not a nice guy.

Browder said he made his life's work after that to get justice for Magitsky. He tried in Russia but Putin. So he went to a couple Senators in the US and they got the Magitsky Act passed which put sanctions on Putin and his cronies. This is what Putin is so angry about. Money. His money.

One of the shell companies that Browder was accusing of laundering the money was a Russian shell controlled by Putin called Prevezon. The law firm representing Prevezon in the US is Baker Hostetler and the lead attorney was one Micheal Mukasey, Attorney General under George W Bush.

Baker Hostetler is also the law firm that hired Fusion GPS to slime Browder.

325 >>So, in summary, the best indicator of who's a russian mole is "who is alleging ties between Russia and Trump"

What it seems to me to mean is that the level of corruption and double dealing in DC goes incredibly deep and covers so many people it is staggering.

One of the really interesting things Browder said at his hearing today is that Putin is by far the richest man in the world, worth over $200 billion. And he has the money in banks and shell companies all over the world including here.

The Magitsky Act sanctions have cut him off from huge chunks of that money and his number 1 priority is to get those sanctions removed and he doesn't mind spreading around lots and lots of money to get what he wants.

This has been said on 4chan pol.

The theory there is that Trump is making the Democrats scream that Sessions, like Mueller, is Above Reproach.

Then, when the hammer comes down, they CANNOT scream about Sessions, since they are on record praising him.

As for Sessions not going for this... I'll respectfully disagree. If Trump is going for the Clinton Crime Syndicate and beating up on Sessions is part of the plan (and Sessions knows that) I'm thinking he'll take one for the team.

Finally, Trump comes to this with a compeltely different skill set. Yes, he has certain disadvantages, but has other HUGE advantages. Like Twitter. I don't think we've seen half of what he has planned for us.

362 You don't need a single grand conspiracy theory with one Grand Puppeteer. Can be several nodes, some over-lapping, with a shared purpose, and lots of incestuous inter-connections.

To some extent you don't need a grand puppeteer--given that it's a culture of its own, many of the cells are self-directing. There isn't really a single head to the beast as a result--the occasional "Hail Hydra" joke is quite fitting. (Resonance with other multi-headed beasts is left as an exercise to the student.)

What would be viable is cutting off cash flow and compromising communications, both of which would be extremely challenging in the environment as it stands.

They have no shame or hesitation in completely reversing themselves. The trick is to make sure we don't fall into that trap (i.e. Comey is a hero for investigating Hillary/Comey is a traitor for dropping the investigation)

As someone upthread pointed out, transitioning is a minimum of 3 years- probably closer to 4- and then constant heavy hormone medication. All of this makes you completely ineligible to go into the field, which is their JOB!

With most military terms up in 3-4 years, this eats up the entirety of their stint.

Plus, the thing that really pissed off my son is that most of them are men-to-women, and they would qualify for classes/positions under the women's standards which is much less rigorous than the men's standards (running times, sit ups, push ups, etc). So men who could not make the cut are at the top of their class, so to speak, in the women's group. Plus as most are presurgery, they also have dicks and are in group showering, bathroom and sleeping situations with women.

So, they can't do their job, costs a ton of money, and make difficult living situations even more difficult for the people who have to pick up the slack on the job they can't do.

So, they can't do their job, costs a ton of money, and make difficult living situations even more difficult for the people who have to pick up the slack on the job they can't do.

Way to go, Obama.

391 I think Sessions is in on it.

Overall, I think Trump is gaming them, at least to some extent.

They think he's a tempermental incompetent h8r, and he lets them think that, all while setting up the dominos to fall out of their sight.

And when those dominos fall, it's too late to stop them.

402 Saw FiFi a few years ago, when she flew in for a visit. Didn't see her fly, though. Have a couple of T-6s that regularly pass overhead on final for their home airport. So, saudly, not a lot of warbirds, but when the acoustics/atmospherics are right, the Ospreys sound very close (they have a distinctive sound). Even better, the .50 cal machines guns at the ranges can be heard sometimes. Pretty nice for suburban SoCal.

Nice golf course is at Camp Pendleton. Cheap, scenic. Gotta keep your eyes open for rattlesnakes on the course. Best of all - sounds of artillery at the nearby ranges, as you line up your shot.

450 Can't speak to Putin's or his team's innermost druthers, but generally speaking, this "country X wants candidate Y to win!" stuff is baseless, and doesn't reflect the way actual adults running actual countries look at these things. This goes back to the Cold War days, but people generally just impose their preferences or biases onto a simplified factual framework and come up with *additional* reasons the candidates they don't like are baaaaad.

Even while a foreign rival like Putin can and will distinguish between various US candidates, he's got to prudently assume that the areas of conflict with the US will remain much the same. He's got to be ready to deal with whatever cards he is dealt, in terms of US leadership. Same goes for others watching US politics.

465 291,
"If Baker was previously part of the FISA apparatus, could he have been the conduit to Powers or Rice?"

The FBI is one of the two (I think 2) agencies that has access to the raw intel data collected, NSA is the other. Baker was probably getting the Presidential Daily Brief which would have the collected conversations with masked names and likely had the power to unmask them for others. With Comey as the head I'd suspect that the unmasking went through the FBI not the NSA so much when it was for political purposes.

466 And the stuff about Trump's Sessions tweets being kabuki to somehow immunize Sessions from media lynching when he lowers hammers in various areas: kids, let's get serious. The media won't be bound for one nanosecond, even within a news cycle to anything they've said, any mood they've set. They'll turn on a dime without breaking a sweat.

This particular part of the speculation about Trump's tweets seems to assume we're in a completely different country than the US. The media cannot be "distracted" if they have some jihad to conduct, and they cannot be hampered in any way by "set-ups" or a need to be sane or consistent. Even Sessions' short time in the spotlight itself contains whiplash examples as the Dems and media go from collegiality to vile slanders and right back to mild praise - depending on what's going on.

468 >>How did Putin know how to keep Hillary from campaigning in WI and MI ? Or was he trying to help Hillary win by being behind the Trump dossier ? I can't keep up with whose side Putin was on.

Putin is on Putin's side. His goal was to create chaos in the US no matter who won.

We are always in political chaos. If he was concerned about his money then he would have assisted the person who would be best suited for him to retain and recoup it. Chaos would not be the best plan.

470 Russia and the USSR before it routinely attempted to meddle in US politics, with little to show for it. They had some more effect in much smaller, less important countries, logically enough, but even there, it was never a productive tool of influence, which is why it didn't receive much in the way of resources. That is, after the post-WWII period in Europe, up to the 1950s, when the Soviets were hip-deep in trying to influence politics when things were still quite sporty in places like France, then Italy and Greece. They didn't really achieve much there, either.

I urge you to watch the Browder hearing. This was never a Trump or Clinton thing. That is media spin.

479 Interesting, BUT - all in all, just more assertions that nameless faceless anonymous people have breathlessly said "something awful" about "somebody famous". Meh.

We've had this same type of innuendo for 7 months and counting, against our duly-elected president.

Wake me up if it turns into anything.
