Sean Spicer Resigns Over Trump's Appointment of Tony Scaramucci As Director of Communications

Scaramucci is already known as a "ferocious" defender of Trump on cable news, so Trump figures he should get paid for it. Apparently Spicer and Priebus objected, noting that Scaramucci had no organizational or political experience.

Spicer resigned rather than be a subordinate to Scaramucci.

I get the "doesn't have organizational or political experience" thing, but the problem is: Most people with that experience tend to be, in policy positions at least, anti-Trump, or at least coming to the job with the idea that they will subvert Trump's agenda into a conventional insider Republican agenda.

I think Trump's tired of such folks telling him he can't do this or that but can only choose from Establishment Approved Options A and B.

7 Everyone keeps telling Trump he's making this and that mistake--even on the right--because they still view Trump as you'd view a usual politician.

And, for some reason, they keep being wrong and Trump keeps winning.

All of his setbacks have been due to doing things the approved, old way.

yeah, and they seem willing to use force (backing the deep state investigation, resisting health care reform, demanding amnesty, hoping/helping Mueller's deep dive can find a reason to "take out" Trump) ... willing to force Trump out.

As Rush has been saying, they will never let Trump into their DC Establishment Club. The failure theater preceded Trump, but now their repeal votes are being changed. Bringing in "outsiders" (real Americans) is necessary to change the global cabal's "tune".

I've noticed a pattern with Trump in that he stumbles sometimes at first, figures out what he wants, cleans house, and gets things rolling right. Running for president: learning on the job isn't easy but he pulled it off. Same with the job of president, he's only been at it less than 6 months. He's learning on the job, and unlike Obama, is actually getting better at it because he's not partying every night in a haze of pot smoke

Spicer's resignation surprised me--not because I know the guy or his temperament or loyalties but because serving directly under the President means you're serving the country in a way that few patriotic people could ever even dream about. If he quit because he didn't like his new immediate superior, then he's a child and good riddance.

You know, I used to be critical of the President's tweets. I see why he does it now. Trump doesn't rely on the press to communicate directly to the people. Just as it was with FDR and radio and Reagan with television, so it is with Trump and social media.

The politician who first realizes and exploits the potential of a dominant or ascendant communications medium has a huge advantage over his opposition.

177 157 It's very simple.

1. Spicer resigns
2. Trump Impeached
3. Pence Impeached.
4. Ryan recuses himself
5. Next people in constutional line either commit suicide or are impeached
6. Election results deemed invalid
7. Constutional Crisis
8. Blood in the streets
9. Russian Troops brought in
10. Putin Appoints Hillary President.

Posted by: Sally Kohn

Alternate scenario:

1. "Trump" tears off rubber mask, revealing that he actually was Hillary in disguise all along.
2. Turns out, therefore, that we actually already DID elect Hillary president.

The biggest problem with *any* political talk is that people act like they know more than a few percent of events that are going on, and they don't.

And on a good day, half of what they know is wrong, or worse.

And trust me, I know what it's like to have the patience of a five-year-old with a $200-a-day crack habit, but we pretty much find out most of that 3 percent of what's going on at least a week late.

It's *kind of* not a surprise that everyone is frustrated up over the tops of their heads.

My idea is to enlarge copies of the Wikileaks emails showing the collusion of the press with Hillary and the DNC and then wallpapering the press briefing room with them. More recently I know a guy whose father was a senior Korean government official. That 9 out of 10 on the leaderboard of the LPGA are named Park and Lee is not a coincidence. Both are related to the opioid crisis. Pretty traditional if aggressive movements to deal with the problem. It won't work, but it's what the government traditionally does to try and tamp things down. Trump talked about it during the campaign so that's going to continue.

328 Didn't read all the comments, so I apologize if I am repeating what someone else said.
Went out to lunch, was listening to Rush Limbaugh on the radio.

His take is pretty much what Ace said. Spicer was spokesman for Reince Priebus when he was head of the RNC. This was Trump playing to the GOPe, trying to make peace.

And Spicer fought for him, but now things are turning in a different direction. I expect Priebus to be gone in 30- 90 days. He has failed as Chief of staff, as liason between Trump and the GOPe in the House and Senate.

Many of those.....a-holes, are playing a different game.

The Media BS with all the Russian nonsense is more background noise to Trump than the obstinancy of the Republican Party.

Trump also replaced his personal chief counsel in the White House, with someone who is going to be more combative with Robert Mueller's Special Counsel gang.

John Dowd. This may be more significant than Spicer stomping off in a snit.

329 Speaking of stray voltage, there have been massive round-ups of child-trafficking groups in multiple states in the last week or so. Almost all entirely under the radar.

What they want , a cookie? That's what they are supposed to do and have been working on that for longer than 7 months.

Now if they are working behind the scenes on stuff that was previously swept under the Leftist rug I would be impressed. The IRS scandal, the fast and furious scandal, planned parenthood, voter fraud ( separate commission working on that when it should be their job), etc.

In business, people's motivations are pretty clear for the most part.

I'll offer you more money if you help me make money...

Yes I am minimizing but basically getting your and your employees' interests in line isn't that hard normally.

Politics is much harder. People have issues of particular interest to them. Bribes, both formal and informal, are the norm. Blackmail is common.

And unfortunately most of the people that live in that world and know how to navigate it are hardcore anti-Trump.

If not for the civil service laws you could fix that pretty quickly (everyone hired or promoted under Obama is fired as of today)...but not so much here.

So Trump needs people he can trust that will also aggressively act. And they generally have to be willing to take a major pay cut and be willing to be constantly slimed by the FNM while they are doing it.

I can guess why you picked those states, but the state authorities may not be cooperating, certainly the local ones won't, which means it will take longer. Most of this is probably Trump's administration not actively preventing state and local enforcement from doing their job like Obama did. And really, that's how it ought to be.

I haven't seen any suggestion that Trump is NOT talking responsibility for his hires. It's an exaggeration to use a phrase like "all these terrible people around Trump."

Every President makes hires for any number of different reasons, INCLUDING the obvious and necessary political deal-making hires.

Furthermore, it has ALWAYS been true that Secretarial level hires have a certain amount of autonomy, and since the President is not a dictator, how he goes about getting rid of bad hires, is always going to be a delicate operation.

He's getting rid of people. Which is what you want... assuming you really do want him to succeed.

Gonna be that guy, and quietly point out that, contrary to prevailing opinion, there is no explicit condemnation of lesbianism in OT. There certainly is for male homosexuality, but lesbianism is not mentioned at all.

Nor will it do to say 'what's good for the gander is good for the goose', as abberant sex acts are listed for both male and female in detail in Leviticus 18, including bestiality listed as a sin for both man and woman. Therefore, the absence of a proscription against lesbianism cannot be explained away very easily.

The only case against lesbianism is in Romans 1, which is interesting because you can read it one of two ways.

26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.

So, lots of folks read this as citing lesbian acts by the women in question, but that's eisegesis, not exegesis. Pull up a variety of translations, and you'll see, coming to the text without reading into it what you think it says, that another explanation makes more sense, especially given the line that follows; that is to say, women were not using the right port of entry, if you'll pardon my expression; doing that which was 'unnatural', "in the same way, men also abandoned natural relations with women, and committed shameful acts with one another'.

Given that there was no actual prohibition against lesbianism in OT, it is difficult to interpret this text as being a blanket prohibition added centuries afterwards.

The long and short of it is, don't be too quick to judge, and end up putting pressure on people unduly for things that are mentioned barely at all, or, in the case of lesbianism, actually not mentioned at all.

Ah, I see you quote the verse. Seems to me that you are doing what you accuse others of and bringing what you want to the verse.

I accuse no one of anything. I, myself, was in the same line of thinking til this past year. It is noteworthy that, out of a pretty diplomatic post, we accelerate right to the word accusation. I counsel prayer, and study - no, not the kind where we read the Scripture, nod, and say, that's what it says - I mean actually study, consider, work on it.

Did you write your reply immediately, or did you actually stop to consider what was being said? And, is the statement "lesbianism is not mentioned in the Old Testament anywhere, not even in Leviticus purity laws" true, or not?

If true, is not this line of thinking worthy of something more than immediate dismissal?

If false, provide citation.

401 I hate these discussions of homosexuality which seen to devolve into nastiness. However, here is a response the question.

https://www.gotquestions.org/Bible-lesbian.html

If we're going to discuss homosexulaityy we might as well discuss the whole idea of sex before marriage-period.

And her's what i will discuss but can't stay. Part of accepted behavior is that I must have sex with someone I love before marriage-that it's obligatoy and as several corollary to the,t if i find someone attractive and love them, i perforce must have sex with them. You see, I thunk's possible to love someone every deeply so that they are closer to you than a brother or sister and not have sex with them. Whereas I think people have deep feelings for other people all the time and chose not to act on it. Men with men, Women with women, men with women.

402 Mark Simone had the best critique of Spicer- he looks like the middle management type who comes to the gate at the airport to tell you that your flight was cancelled.

403 He straight out said some questions were 'unfair" which is great. It such a dirty trick to ask questions like "do you commit" "do you endorse" and other gotcha fodder. And he won't answer hypotheticals. And he mentioned, in passing, how he challenged a 'fake news" story that was totally wrong, got an apology and moved on. Everyone in the room knew he threatened a $100 Million lawsuit and got three scalps.

405 Spice was dead meat from the get go when he refused to take on the press as they savaged him about his perfectly correct assertion that the Inaugural was watched by more people than any inauguration in history. When you see someone who lays down for abuse like that, you know he won't last.
