24 GoT Predictions:

Dany, Jon Snow and Tyrion are all Taergaryens.
Tyrion's mom fucked a Taergaryen, which is why Tywin said: "you're no son of mine." Gives a new perspective on Tywin.

Dany, Jon and Tyrion will ride the three dragons to slay the White Walkers, because they're Taergaryens.

Jamie kills Cersei fulfilling the witch's prophecy that she'll get killed by her younger brother. She always thought it meant Tyrion.

Dany winds up on the Iron Throne, but who's her consort. I'm going with Ser Friend Zone, because I like the idea of an old guy getting young trim.

Peter Baylesh falls off the Ladder of Chaos.

Sansa gets the North. With Jon, who's actually only some kind of cousin.

Tyrion is the adviser, and it's a golden age for the Seven Kingdoms.

114 "A Chicago community activist who worked to fight violence was shot dead less than a block from the offices of his nonprofit, according to police and the man's relatives.

William "Willie" Cooper, 58, was shot on Saturday afternoon near the offices of Lilydale Outreach Workers for a Better Community, on Chicago's South Side. Cooper was the principal officer of the anti-violence group, which provides jobs for local teenagers.

Police said Cooper was walking when someone shot him from a dark-colored vehicle driving by. Cooper suffered wounds to his torso and mouth. About 20 shell casings were scattered near his body . . . . "

A drive-by with 20 rounds fired? He must have pissed somebody off.

"Wight" is actually an old Anglo-Saxon term. Tolkein's Barrowwights are simply Wights of the Barrow (burial mounds).

149 Watched the first season, was uninterested.

It had great production but I couldn't have been more uninvested in the characters. Also, waaaaaay too much gratuitous sex and nudity. I'm not a prude but HBO just likes shoehorning that shit into their shows whether it's needed or not. Completely fucking pointless.

Despite that! I ended up reading the books and they were really really *really* good. I think it has to do with the fact that each chapter is a character perspective and only a few characters get their own chapters. I think it's just that Martin does a really good job of fleshing out individual characters and getting a chance to live in their head adds a lot of color and depth to the whole thing. Also, there's a really coy sense of humor throughout the whole series. It's all character based humor, but it really endears the characters to you. That said, these people do the shittiest things to each other. Page after page of atrocities. I loved it. I sat there thinking, "Damn, that's just awful! Can't wait to see what's next!" *Turn page* "Ooooooohhhhhh!!!!!" It didn't really seem to translate well on to the small screen, or at least not in the first season.

200 qdpsteve.. I just came from a horror convention and most heard the news as they were leaving. I never met him, but some there had and they said he was very down to earth and friendly to all his fans. I have to say every person I have ever met at these cons has been awesome. Only exception was Michael Biehn. Total jerk.

201 As you can tell, I followed the trial probably a little too closely.

As long as you weren't breaking into Marcia Clark's home and sniffing her panties I think you're good.

202 I quit New Who a long time back. I refuse to acknowledge the new show.

203 Slow start.

204 DJ, good to hear about Romero.

Biehn is one of these who hasn't been a name since the 1980s, I think. Seems like it's always the short-lived has-beens who let fame go to their heads (though of course not all short-lived stars are like that).

Saw the mixed doubles today. At least the Brits got one win. Martina Hingis also 36 and looking pretty good both on and off the court.

207 TexasDan @ 195- Resolved by violent intervention.

Yep. A violent intervention is often the answer to injustice.

208 The best way to save it is copy the entire post, including the comments, into the comments box on a newer thread, like this one, and then click Post.

Do it in MS Word so you don't screw up.

209 During that scene with the Laniseter soldiers, I thought the two main guys looked like Ed Sheeran and the guy who played Kylo Ren. I saw Ed's name in the credits, so I was right on at least one count! So that at least was mildly amusing.
