Myers Briggs personality theory puts people in several categories; one of them is thinking/ feeling aka logical/emotional.

Pretty much all "thinkers" are Republican and all "feelers" are democrats.

There's another category, perceiving/ judging, that talks about decision making. Perceivers hate to make decisions, while judgers like to make decisions. Perceivers lean democrat, but it's not strong. There is one categroy (INFJ) that is strong democrat, while INTP is strong independent.

In my field we describe disease severity in general categories of mild, moderate, and severe. Useful distinction, to wit:

Mild- not going to cause problems or need treatment

Moderate- may not lead to problems, but bears watching

Severe- needs something done about it.

But when you read patient charts, the terms have been subdivided into a new scale of:

1. Trivial
2. Extremely mild
3. Mild
4. Mild to low-moderate
5. Low moderate
6. High moderate
7. High moderate to severe
8. Severe
9. Really severe
10. Critical

Entirely too much splitting.
We need to get back to lumping.

I constantly do risk/benefit assessments. It's not always a clear demarcation. Trying to explain that to patients is sometimes tricky as many react much like you did.

I tend INTP. I don't think that the liberals, those advocates of science, are really in favor of knowing that they have this or that internal tendency. In that case, they might start questioning things. Instead they are continually producing "studies" that show how conservatives are completely ruled by unconscious biases, but make an exception of themselves.

It usually mean that you teach a course- say Freshman Composition, may not have your Doctorate and get paid badly for the work you do.My husband was an adjunct professor in 1983-He had a Master's Degree and got paid twelve hundred dollars over a four month period for a class that too time to prepare, for read papers for and grade-in a class of 35 students. At the time he was working FT an night. This was not a good combination.

They can't quit while they're ahead. Actually that's not clear enough. They can't settle for a reasonable state of affairs when they get it. Two examples that come to mind: it's not enough to have a lenient immigration policy, they also want to let in illegal *criminals* and allow them to stay here in sanctuary cities. It's not enough for there to be no gender pay gap. They think that because women's clothes generally cost more than men's, this is a "hidden tax" on being a woman.

Maybe the rejection of current liberalism means most people realize we've arrived at a point of all that a liberal could reasonably expect.

Rhomboid, I disagree on this one. Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good. Where we have historically got our butts kicked by the Left is that they will take half a loaf when they can get it, then come back for a whole loaf later, and never quit pressing. We need to learn from that. Do what is possible now, but don't quit pushing toward our ultimate goal. The unfortunate fact is that the majority of the country is not conservative, but the majority can be persuaded to agree with conservative ideas when they are shown to make sense. The majority is not liberal either, but the Left has managed to drag the country along toward their direction, a little bit at a time. I think that's what we have to do.

These are baby steps over the cliff TO single payer.

(a) Obamacare is imploding horribly.
(b) Republicans promise to repeal it.
(c) Republicans don't actually repeal it.
(d) Instead the Republicans opt to "fix" it.
(e) In a way that solves none of the underlying problems.
(f) The "fixed" Obamacare implodes horribly anyway.
(g) Republicans are blamed by the public.
(h) The public vote in Democrats to square away the mess.
(i) Democrats install single-payer as the "simple" solution.

Easy as falling off a log.

The rude reality is that U.S. health care (note I am not referring to "health insurance" or to "health coverage" or to "health policies" but to HEALTH GODDAMN CARE) was badly broken before Obamacare. Obamacare did not fix the underlying broken stuff. Neither do the GOP's cosmetic patches to Obamacare. And neither will single-payer once the Democrats get back in.
