Congress gets another chance to pass Kate's Law
House Republicans took action Thursday to crack down on illegal immigrants and the cities that shelter them. One bill passed by the House would deny federal grants to sanctuary cities and another, Kate’s Law, would increase the penalties for deported aliens who try to return to the United States. Kate's Law, which would increase the penalties for deported aliens who try to return to the United States and caught, passed with a vote of 257 to 157, with one Republican voting no and 24 Democrats voting yes.

Yeah I think the biggest issue, the number one problem most Nevertrumpers have with President Trump is that he's America-first and they are globalist. I think that's 80% of their objection, and frankly there's nothing he can do to overcome that opposition.

We somehow ended up in a place where a large number of people think some select groups should be exempt from some laws and others should not, and this is the "liberal" position, to have a legal caste system.

Illegal immigration is probably just a civil offense, even if they by-pass inspection points. The collateral customs and agricultural violations may be a felony. But nobody talks about that.
Bypassing immigration should be a felony, evidence of guilt not having an immigration stamp in yer passport. One year first offense. Two years second offense, four for the third, eight years for the forth, sixteen for the fifth offense, 32 for the sixth offense. That is a total of 63 years. No probation.

Well for the plains tribes, there wasn't much to build a wheel out of. Two sticks you can get, but a wheel requires more materials to work. So, you identify the votes you need to get to 60 - R and D - who are up for re-election next cycle and, depending on the state, you make sure they know they will be absolutely lashed with bailing wire to their votes on this. Then, you sweat them (and look for ways to bribe them).
Oh - and this includes appropriations votes later on, which will also feature the same sorts of policies in the forms of amendments, in committee and on the floor.

I was not an early Trump supporter and despite happily voting for him and being very pleased with what he's done so far I do think he goes to far at times. Like today.
But I have absolutely zero doubt now he is going as hard right as he can with policy and appointments. It's the only direction he's got now and he's going to ride it hard. There is no sense at all going moderate or left, he won't ever win their support no matter what he does.
He's not about balance, he's about putting heads on pikes.

That remains to be seen. When he took office, I was sure that we had someone less bad than Hillary, but who'd be pretty much a Bill Clinton clone in terms of policy. But each time the left spits on him, he marks them down in that black book in his head and never, ever forgets. I think he does half the stuff he does now in terms of policy just to spite them.

I agree. And while I think he's sometimes coarse and I cringe at some of his tweets, i also remember that he is not taking a salary, and this must be costing him in business as well. So he really is doing it out of love for country, I think.
