This is my main trouble with a bailout. If they took one red cent from me to pay for such a bailout, I'd be paying into the pension of people who never did any work for me, because I do not live in Illinois. Same idea with bailing out GM. Bigger than I and my wife would have liked but overall it was awesome. No real snafus that I've been made aware of, although we did have a weird moment involving the cops.
So, for my garter toss I put the garter on a junior sized football and of course my friends ended up throwing the football. From what I've gathered instead of just asking the politely once or twice to stop they brought a cop up to ask us.

I love stand up in general, and I'm a pretty libertarian/leave me alone minded person, but I've never liked Bill Hicks. A lot of inferior stand ups just try to rip off Hicks, like Russel Brand. My older sisters saw Linda Ronstadt perform back in the '70's, and came home thinking HOW DUMB SHE WAS. She was constantly tuning her guitar, and dropped the pick inside the guitar once.
She did have a nice voice.
My older sisters both sang semi-professionally at one time. Meaning they cut demo tapes in a studio for a record company, but nothing ever came of it.
My older sister, at 66, still has a beautiful singing voice.

I keep trying to convince my son to go to trade school, but he's been so brainwashed by school that he thinks college is the way to go.
My Dad never forgave me (I think) for quitting college TWICE and going to trade school. In the end I made more money than he ever did. He just never lived to see it.

Tired of part time job, which is ending in September. It's like being on work death row.
My editor is also getting on my nerves big time. I've worked with him forever and it's never been like this. Here is his new life:
1. Travel for a week or more on business
2. Return to office for a few days,catch up on everything in an utter panic
3. Take a bunch of personal days.
Rinse and repeat.
Him being out of town is good, since I don't hear from him and he doesn't piss me off.
However, he now doesn't want to make any decisions, because he's either too busy or not in the office. Which makes my life difficult, since I need him to make decisions so I don't have to rush around like a chicken with it's head cut off.
I think God is teling me to play the lottery.

You are extremely lucky. I have an acquaintance who had a stroke ten years or more ago who hasn't recovered even a little bit. Some do an some don't.
He still can't type even a little and has extremely slurred speech.

It's a matter of degree, collateral damage and how far outside your personal sphere the non-consensual damage extends. I'm not really disagreeing, its just that you follow this road too far and you get to Schopenhauer's anti-natalism: it would have been better if no one was born, because living always inflicts harm.
Better to try and cultivate your own garden IMHO. I don't lean libertarian because I think I don't hurt others. I lean libertarian because I think people should pick and develop their personal virtues, and not have them imposed.

Yeah, I was 17 and just needed to take the test and do the time. Had been apprenticing under my uncle for 4 years at that point (vacations, weekends and summers).
My cousin, who is a complete idiot and a mediocre tradesman went that route and was insanely successful.

None that I can recall. It's pretty easy for guys to get addicted to porn though. I use OpenDNS on my router and have purposely made it hard to bypass it. It's a temptation to me and I'm pretty sure it is for most guys.

It is my considered opinion that there are no real leakers. What there is is a new secret, very encrypted, listserv where certain journalists, Deep State Obama operatives and former IC and WH officials of the Obama administration meet to cook up stories to be run as "leaked" by anonymous sources.
They all know it's mostly fictional smoke with a leavening of factual, but fun house, mirrors that they are passing along as truth. Their only concerns are that it harm Trump and that the fish not stink too much too soon.
This is not the first time an "op" has been run to harm a President but AFAIK it is the first time that so many very high officials of the IC and the WH have been actively trying to bring down a successor President.
As to why, well.....
Hillary had, going back into the early 90s, blackmail type material on every Washington connected Republican and the rising stars from the States. She was locked and loaded to gun down 16 of the 17 Republicans who ran in the primary. The one she didn't have a big file on was Trump. He wasn't on anybody's radar as a candidate and even after he announces he was considered to be a clown act trying to make a buck somehow.
From July 2015 to July 2016 they worked, at first not too hard but as Trump moved closer to clinching the nomination the pace picked up, to find material that would destroy him and let Hillary coast to the win. She needed to coast through dirty tricks because she was not just a horrible candidate but her health made campaigning hard.
As time rolled on and Trump wasn't fading away desperation set in. They got sloppy, careless, even more than was usual with Hillary. I think they figured Comey was their firewall since he had many times in the past papered over Clinton problems. As FBI head he was well positioned to help again and was not an official that would be expected to resign or be fired.
There are more interesting times a coming. This poker game is one that to step away, to fold, is to lose all you have or ever will have. Whether the world knows it or not, we are all, all in, this time around.

They started out not wanted to ban alcohol, but merely get people, especially men, to stop drinking so much that it was destroying families.

No doubt, but I think insane levels of alcohol use were also a factor. Not that I know anything, but I've seen videos of some really bad Little Feat shows, and it sure looked like mostly an alcohol thing to me. You could see Lowell sweating and red.

This person can be very charming and good at what they do-but a narcissist-which I haven't come out and said directly-because what would be the point? So the other day at a gathering-the friend's wife-who is also a friend-I actually like her personality better than I like his-said that I was a very intuitive person. She also told me that their daughter had broken up with her boyfriend and the mother is upset because he was a really nice guy, and she thinks her daughter is unable to accept love, I can't every well say to her-"Well, that's probably because her father is a narcissist and they tend to mess up their lives of their children." So I guess I just shut up and listen to her. After all, she married him. She knows what he's like. I guess feel bad for both she and her daughter, but I can't say what I really think.

In the revolutionary era of America, the annual per capita alcohol consumption was something like 5.3 gallons a year. A lot of people drank hard cider and wine because the water was so dirty (full of bacteria) in the cities.
By 1830, it had gotten to be 7.3 gallons per capita, and yes, there was a real drinking problem in America.
Today it is something like 2.4 gallons alcohol consumed per capita annually.
Of course, now a days we also have really strong MJ, meth, cocaine, heroin, and a lot of other goodies.

Don't forget all of the FBI files that Clinton operatives got their hands on during the 90's for the purpose of "vetting" White House employees and visitors. Included in that were files on a lot of people throughout DC that weren't Democrats.
I'm sure the Clinton people shared that info with the Obama folks when it came to leaking info on conservatives. Remember, Roberts was nominated by GHWB for the DC Circuit Court of Appeals in 1992 but no vote was ever taken on his appointment.

I blame the industrial revolution. You had a concentration of people in the cities, which magnified negative effects of alcohol and destroyed the social cohesion which had in the past provided a support system to families in trouble. You added to that a layer of unmarried young men without strong family bonds who had money and time. Finally, you top it off with increasing mass production of hard liquor which meant people were getting drunk more easily, and you have a recipe for problems.

Amazingly still in first (basically because the Cubs and Cards have sucked and the division stinks - but the Crew has played some very fun baseball this season). It's been an unexpectedly long 10 minutes!
Few things will drain the money out of your wallet like Summerfest. I haven't gone at night in a very long time. It's OK during the day, but at about 6 pm the whole mood changes and suddenly there are a zillion drunken kids around and fights break out....
The ER physicians I know hate and dread Summerfest - the ER is filled with drunks and guys who had have bottles smashed over their heads.
Good musical selections tonight, especially Talking Heads and Del Shannon.

That was what got to be the conventional wisdom. But Livingstone was seen in a room, with a big copy machine and stacks files going to the ceiling. That was apparently his real job and remember he was a former bouncer who owed his position completely to Hillary.
Also these were not just FBI files but they were the "raw" files that were put together in a FBI security background check. Every nasty story that anyone who ever held a grudge against you would be in them along with an anal exam of your entire life from childhood.

Yes. Everything you said is true.
Billy Beane is not a genius, but the principles that Bill James set in-place are solid. It is simple mathematics.
Are his principles a predictor of future production? Hell, No! But when more people get on base, they tend to score. That is not speculation, that is Fact.
What the movie about Billy Beane failed to address is the fact that they had Zito, Mulder and someone else on the mound that dominated during that run.
The Brewers should not have been competitive this season, yet here they are.
I expect the Cubs will overtake them soon and the N.L. has better Wildcard teams, but they have future prospects that will take them to another level if they don't trade them away.

yeah, a lot of musicians are pretty self destructive. Takes big will power to resist it all. My career started with me licking a line off a chicks boobs in between sets of one of the very first gigs I ever did (long but true story). I understood immediately, and knew the power of that moment, and knew right then to not go down that road. I watched more than a few go down in flames. Its a hard thing to explain what its like getting caught up in the moment.
I even kept the drinking to a very, very small minimum. My weakness was chicks bearing shots. I was never much of a drinker, but if a chick wanted to do some shots, or a drink, my mind went right to that line in ghost busters, "if a chick asks if you are a god you say YES". I survived with my ass intact by sheer will alone, because it sure isn't easy.

As a longtime Reds fan, I just wish they had someone in the front office that would make sure that when they trade all the veteran talent for prospects that you don't go overboard on one phase.
A few years ago they had no hitting, but lots of live arms, so they traded all the arms for bats. Now they have the bats but no arms, and the arms they have are in the minors getting experience and are a couple years away. Just enough time for the Reds to clear out all that hitting.

Yup. Hence "sham" position. If your vice really is victimless, fine, I don't particularly care what you do. But too many of these philosopher-comedians have popularized this shabby, lazy mode of thinking. Like they skimmed over the first chapter of 'Lautremont for Dummies' and now they're the high priests of morality. It's why i have a particular hatred of Hicks and Brand and their ilk. Slap, I always hated the DH, but after seeing our best pitcher, Chase Anderson, injure himself in an at bat yesterday (sob!) - I am reconsidering my position.
That's the second time this season one of our starters have had to go on the DL after hurting themselves during an at-bat. I remember Wainwright was out for almost the entire season when he pulled something running to first.
It's a killer to see these guys get injured doing something most of them aren't any damned good at.

IIRC, I used an output transformer hooked up backwards to put a fairly high audio voltage into a pair of carbon electrodes stuck into an acetylene torch flame. Maybe it would be better to use that setup directly as the plate load of a small transmitting tube like an 807, which I have a bunch of.

I know this argument and I take it into battle every day.
Plus, I was born when the DH rule went into effect. I know nothing other, beside Little League Baseball.
I let everyone else let their lids get uncapped over it, even though I think that pitchers hitting is the way that the game was supposed to be played.

The Clinton's were never going to get the Justice Department to investigate those raw files being copied. It's was the same convenient excuse that was used for the illegal email server: "Oopsie, we didn't think it was wrong".
And, from 1993-94, the Clintons had a pliant Democrat House and Senate, and both of those chambers plus the Clintons were hot to trot to pass Hillarycare. No way that they were going to rock that boat with an investigation into those files.

Interesting. I wish I knew more about the narcissistic personality disorder. I've mostly seen it in senior management in business and at least one of them did have a messed-up daughter.
On the other hand, I can think of a number of reasons why a young lady wouldn't want to be a pastor's wife. I'm one of those who believes it is a calling to be a pastor's spouse and God may be calling her to something else.
Being a pastor's wife imposes a lot of limitations--certainly in the Evangelical tradition that I'm a part of. There are a lot of time demands and the financial benefits just aren't there for most. Plus, constantly living under a microscope is hard.
Whatever the problem is, I know you'll handle it with Godly wisdom.

It probably has to do with the Reds having some very lively bats surrounding him. Tends to get pitchers to pitch to a guy like him so that they don't pitch to Votto with a player on base.

I am guilty of using it as a lubricant, but not for a long time. There are many better products for lubrication, depending on the machinery/item, and the situation.

It's 156 miles, each way. At (FL) high way speeds, 2 hours. I don't think the speed limit goes above 40, and there are long stretches where it is 35, even less at night where the Key Deer roam. IIRC, it took about 5 hours. And you're still at Miami when you get back. It's most of a day's drive (JAX), an all day (Lake City) or more than a day's drive (Alabama) to get out of the state.

Tinkertoys are little 3-inch-long sticks + little circular wooden hubs with holes to put the sticks into. It'd be very difficult to make a sword with any tensile strength out of Tinkertoys, and most likely if you made one and then hit someone with it, the sword would pretty much fall to pieces and barely leave a bruise, much less a scar.
Did you have some kind of souped-up Mega-Tinkertoys With Action Grip?

Have an Erector Set (knock it off, morons) out in the garage, in its original wood box. Should check on it. Think there was some corrosion.
The Lionel (post-war) train cars (locomotives restored) are stored in my dad's WWII army foot locker. My own plastic foot locker, from a more recent international misunderstanding, just doesn't seem the same - though for a time I stacked one on the other, and that seemed kind of cool.

Grimmy still goes to use the outdoor range. thats not too bad. but i wish i could still afford a red key to drive in when i liked and shoot as much as i wanted.

I never actually owned any Tinkertoys myself -- I just occasionally played at other kids' houses where they were available.
What I had, instead, was a box of Legos -- a pretty substantial-sized shoebox, but they were all (to be frank) hand-me-downs -- a sort of accumulation of several abandoned half-lost sets.
The main problem? About one-third of the pieces looked like Legos to the untrained eye, but when you tried to snap them into real Legos, they didn't fit. I think they were part of a similar toy that never made it big in America, called "Rasti" or something like that. I guess these imposters were like the Kaboom of building-block toys -- only parents who didn't love their kids let them have Rastis. It was really frustrating, because I always ended up having two separate brick groupings which could not interact -- and I had no idea where these fake-ass bricks came from, nor where I could get more.

it's a long way from the SFV for regular shooting, albeit herself did sign us up for a shotgun (sporting clays) class there a few years back, when i was healthier and we got out more because i paid some of the bills.
we hit Angeles and Moore n Moore up in Tujunga, Oak Tree in Newhall, and can be induced to go shooting elsewhere in SoCal, all things being equal. (w*rk/traffic/funding)

Anyway, they were fun. You'd squad up with people as they came in, met some interesting people, former military and some law enforcement.
And - a tribute to Ron Jung, may he RIP - Ron used to do a night-shoot in October, close to Halloween. Only all-welcome action shooting night-shoot I've ever heard of.
It was hilarious. Searchlights. Movement. In one stage, he had a "borrowed" Anaheim PD cruiser (seriously), colored lights going - you started in the driver's seat, jumped out and picked up your pistol on a plastic barrel (the guy who'd boldly lent the cruiser didn't want any bullet holes in the car to write up), then blasted away.

Dropped by LAX Ammo range/store on the way back from a central coast trip recently. For some reason, they (like the Cabelas up in Reno) had low-recoil shotgun target loads for a price better than online prices. Nice store, though. Neat ammo displays, and a huge selection. Too much of a hurry to stop at the (apparently famous?) donut place nearby, though.
