Considering how ludicrous the FBI's conclusions are as it relates to an attack on the third ranking member of the House of Representatives, you might reconsider whether to trust the FBI's conclusions in other areas, as well. And this is how our faith in institutions is degraded: steadily, gradually, with incident after incident where men in suits stand in front of microphones and make claims we know are not the whole truth.If CIA contractors are willing to hack vending machines, what else do you think they're willing to do with capabilities they have access to in their official capacity? No one has really been punished at the IRS for their political shenanigans and the DOJ obviously interfered with the Hillary private server investigation. Until big name folks are held accountable for their violations, public faith in these institutions will continue to crater.

This afternoon they successfully relaunched a used first stage to send a satellite for Bulgaria to geosynchronous transfer orbit. The primary mission was flawless.
Then they once again landed the stage on the droneship. Because this mission required high performance from the first stage, it came in fast and hot. Literally hot, because of the re-entry heating. In fact, they said beforehand not to be too surprised if the vehicle didn't survive.
There was a dramatic moment when the video link was lost just before landing. When it was restored, Falcon 9 was standing upright but apparently slightly tilted.
This is why I love SpaceX. Just when their landings were beginning to look routine, they go and push the envelope like this. I can't wait to see the landing video of this one!

My dad, who served in WWII, told me that the army would put weight on you, or take it off. Whichever was needed. He was drafted at 30yo and 140 lbs. When he left 2 years later, he was 155. I think, living through the depression, that those 15 lbs were needed.

Indeed. There should have been a watch kept by both ships. I will cut the container ship's crew some slack; they may be under-manned, and the crew all tired from loading operations.
But damn, a destroyer, a fighting ship on patrol? Even in peacetime, a fighting vessel needs to keep a lookout for hostiles, or even for other vessels in distress, to render aid. Maybe not part of their mission, but always good for PR. And they have a large crew, no excuse for not having both visual and radar watches kept.

Ha. I forgot that the first woman I truly loved used to always want to stop by a gas station where she had found Hawaiian Punch stored in large paddle-stirred clear rectangular dispensers. She had loved the stuff and hadn't seen it for years, and that gas station was involved in almost all of our dates.
Grown woman, too. Beautiful and fairly wealthy. Could buy anything almost anything she wanted without needing to balance the checkbook first, and she wanted to go get Hawaiian Punch from this ratty little mom-and-pop gas station. It was charming as hell.

Single engine landings have become all but routine. They've done about 10 of them. Three engine landing burns are rather "sporty".

I'd love it if there was an Army-wide directive that no one can be in their office before noon. Instead of 6am PT, you show up at 8am, work outside until noon, and then go in after lunch. Give section leaders and commanders time to do actual military training such as combatives, drill and ceremony, obstacle courses, road marches, etc.

Made it home before I slurred like Crazy Googenheim. Husband said I did a face-plant onto bed laughing like a wild woman. He fixed me up with a glass of milk, on my request (after, mind you I did my usual neurotic nightly routine, as I have NEVAH slept in make up. Bad for skin my Mama said). Anyway, after glass of milk and book I apparently passed out til 2am.

I actually worked with a pre-op tranny and it was kind of weird to see the gradual change. He went from long hair and dressing like a woman to looking more feminien and a boob job. As "his" voice changed I am positive "she" was using female hormones. It was quite difficult to tell she had ever been male.

Plus... I've had to deal with the narcissist for about 15 years. He's been bad for ten, and been super bad for the past three or so. To survive in the past, I will only deal with him via email.
I've now gone no-contact.
I have full confidence in his ability to look like he's cooperating for a short period of time. He will then fall back into old habits, and cause another problem. However, when something happens now, it will go directly to the boss; I will not intercede and make it better.

As you indicated, the founder was an MIT guy and as you can imagine, someone that smart and also artistic talent would be a handful. They had 4 or 5 more albums. Their lead singer committed about suicide 20 years ago but I think they still tour.

I did a really lengthy article on this.
The lighting is all LED, and the people in charge of the falls, the Illuminatin Committee, were really focused on keeping natural looks. The majority of the design team were Canadian, but there were also Americans involved, and the LED lighs came from an American company. BTW, there were 7 companies that were allowed to do the final bid, and only one met the required specifications.
That being said, I've seen some photos that look very cool... but not natural. So... "gay" was never part of the discussion.

BI was just about perfect as always. But don't tell anyone, it's already getting too crowded.
We had an up and down week. Started off as an enormous shitshow one for the ages, but we rallyed. Best part was that our tactician in training could give you a run for your money cooking and we had a great house with a view to kill.
It may take a while to dry out and heal but it was an incredible week.

But, double the horsepower, and I can only imagine the thrust differential from that six bladed prop?
I'm thinking poor-man's A-10 here for the SAR role, but with a couple wingfulls of 20mm cannons, vs. a Vulcan installation.
With the additional power, even more fuel and ordnance could be carried. And armor. Then with modern digital panels and data-linking, I think the thing would be one hell of a formidable package.
(and a lot fewer oil leaks on the tarmac!)

Armor - replicate the armored bathtub of the A-10? Armor up the engine and flight controls also? How will this affect accessibility for the wrench turners? And there goes that gross weight again.
Munitions - stressing the outer pylons from 300lbs to 600lbs is about all that is needed. Plus wire all pylons to support smart munitions like the Small Diameter Bomb. JSOW? Maybe. Plus wire the two most outboard pylons to accept AIM-9x missiles.
Which might keep the weight down except for a few knock-on issues. Fuel in the wings plus guns and more robust bomb pylons means the wing structure will have to be beefed up so the wing won't fail. Still could save a decent amount of weight and improve structural strength by removing the wing fold mechanisms. The other knock-on problem is how stressed is the landing gear now with all this extra weight? So the landing gear will have to be made stronger which means heavier.
Might as well build a new paper airplane instead of reheating the old Spad which could carry, even in the AD-1 form, three aerial torpedoes at once.

ibuprofen, like all NASIDs, cycles through your liver, and is contraindicated with alcohol for that reason, as well as for wear and tear on your gut.
if you just take plain generic Benadryl, available in the allergy aisle of your local drug store, you should get the same general effect, w/o all the additional side issues your current regimen courts.

It's technically not a decongestant, but instead a "second-generation antihistamine," but I gotta tell ya, it really consistently works to keep post-nasal drip at bay, and best of all, it has zero side-effectds -- not a stimulant like pseudoephedrine or most other over-the-counter stuff.
The bad news is that it is still by prescription only in the US (though not elsewhere in the world), so it's both hard to get and expensive.
But if you're gonna see a doctor anyway, ask for a prescription of Azelastine -- you won't regret it.

A minor word of warning:
Azelastine, like most antihistamines, comes as a nasal spray -- you spritz it up your nostrils. But of course whenever you do that, sometimes it leaks out the back of your sinuses into your throat - i.e. the medicine itself, for the first minute or so, becomes part of the post-nasal drop problem. Which could momentarily make your feel worse -- but this same issue happens with any nose spray.
After that initial minute, however, it really does start to dry up your sinuses in a long-term way, with absolutely no side effects, which is what I like about it.

True, Azelastine doesn't miraculously get rid of all post-nasal drip and the histamine reaction -- it just noticeably decreases it to a tolerable level.
I had post-nasl drip pretty bad for a while too, and NOTHING helped. Azelastine came along, and it transformed a miserable problem into a minor background annoyance. That's all I could hope for, and I got it.

Contra the article on the "Army is the fattest military branch." Shoddy journalism. Instead the writer should have pointed to how BMI is an incredibly inaccurate measurement of fitness. Generally speaking, more Soldiers are going to fall in the overweight and obese BMI categories because of the high levels of fitness. 4-5 days a week of running, calisthenics, throw in ruck marching (fast walking pace carrying a heavy load) and some weight lifting, and there you go. Are there overweight Soldiers? Absolutely. A more accurate way to report the story was to obtain statistics from the Army's Human Resource Command ("corporate HR") as to the percentage of Soldiers enrolled in the Weight Control Program. Those actually out of tolerance to the Army Standards are counseled and closely monitored to lose weight and/or sufficient body fat to meet standards. Those that don't are administratively separated.
Did 27 years in the Army, retired in 2015 at 48 years old. 6' and consistently 215 lbs. BMI says overweight. Was still capable of 16:30 2 mile run, 72 sit-ups and 65 pushups for semi-annual physical fitness test. Also still capable of carrying a 33 lb. load 9 kilometers at better than a 15 minute mile.
