Looks more Mexican than French. But we can't have it all. And you can never go too far wrong with chestnuts and oaks.

Could use a cabin, though. Maybe up on the right? Cabins are always nice.

I know nothing about this artist either. Camille, his father apparently, was an Impressionist who exhibited with Monet, Morisot, Cassatt, Renoir and the others. He was the downer of the group. Being a socialist, he loathed the urban, "bourgeois" lifestyle his friends enjoyed. Instead preferring the "pure" existence of the rural countryside. When he was forced to come to Paris, his paintings seem to exhibit a sense of separation, class division and uncomfortable-ness.

224 In a unanimous decision, the Supreme Court of the United States handed down a ruling that will make it more difficult for so-called "patent trolls" to launch patent infringement lawsuits in jurisdictions that are extremely favourable to plaintiffs.
The decision in TC Heartland v. Kraft was rendered on Monday. All eight justices (Justice Gorsuch did not take part as arguments were made before his appointment to the bench) ruled that patent lawsuits must be brought in the jurisdiction in which the defendant "resides." That is, either the jurisdiction where the defendant's head office is or the state in which the company was incorporated.

279 Update on my failed computer, and the reasons for the failure.

CPU was water cooled, and the water cooler failed. In failing, it destroyed my CPU. When the CPU failed, it destroyed my motherboard. When the motherboard failed, it took out one of my 256 GB SSD's.

Actual monetary loss here is around 800 dollars, but the way warranties are written, and honored, only the one failed device under warranty will be repaired/replaced. Neither the CPU or SSD is under warranty. The water cooler, and motherboard are, so I will ask the manufacturers of each to repair/replace their respective devices, and write off the other two.

So why didn't the motherboard's onboard thermal protection kick in before the CPU failed? I had it set to very conservative settings, and it should have shut the computer down when the CPU hit 70 C.

No clue, but I've modified my case to accept an industrial 120 VAC cabinet fan, which I'm just leaving on whenever the computer is powered up. (I'm stone deaf in one ear, and since the computer is on that side, I can't hear it, and it doesn't bother me one whit). I might also make use of one of my arduino mega's and a few cheap K type thermocouple shields, along with my 4 X relay board to turn fans on/off, and even power the computer off if things get too warm again.

Doing so will be a hell of a lot cheaper than having to replace 3/4 of my computer on another failure.

I started a rather fascinating book called 'The Discovery of France', learning just how incredible balkanized France was prior to radio and highways. Like 100 years ago, only 20% of the population spoke what we consider French. Most of the country spoke regional dialects, some not related to French at all (one major one is far more like Latin), that were almost incomprehensible to people who live two provinces over.

Interesting stuff.

A week or more back, west of the house, we saw a doe and apparent newborn fawn on wobbly legs.

FF to morning before last, I looked out the front window and called Milady to come look, quick.

It was little Bambi, presumably the same fawn, now much steadier on its hooves, standing not twenty feet in front of the house. We slid out the front door and stood on the porch and said a soft hello. It saw us but didn't spook, just looked at us curiously. Finally, it ran off a little ways, stopped and surveyed us again. We waved. It disappeared into the high grass.

Had to wonder where mama-doe was. Glad ol' dawg was snoozing on the east side of the house, or he might've given chase.

So squeeley cute, these disease-ridden tick-infested forest rats.

However, the Clint Eastwood version had such good action and tense drama that viewers never saw it as such, even though there were some hints of comedy planted in it. (Jack Cassidy's character, frex)'

It's an early testament to Clint Eastwood as a director - he took a story with a fairly nonsensical plot (which gets worse and worse the more you look at it) and then ignored the intent of the author, that it be a spoof, and somehow ended up making a fairly good action movie out of it.

It's an early testament to Clint Eastwood as a director - he took a story with a fairly nonsensical plot (which gets worse and worse the more you look at it) and then ignored the intent of the author, that it be a spoof, and somehow ended up making a fairly good action movie out of it.

Probably the same way immigrants can come over and open businesses, then in a year or two, it's a whole different bunch of immigrants running the place - because they get tax breaks/favorability and then when that grace period time starts to run out, they sign the place over or "sell" it to a family member or in-law and the cycle starts over.... Wash, rinse, repeat.
