John Bolton Speaks Truth To Power!

He suggests that President Trump must act now to limit the scope of the witch hunt. And he is correct.

The real question is whether the Republican party has even a shred of dignity and loyalty left in its shriveled and decaying carcass. Maybe they should follow the lead of the Democrats and actually...you know...unite behind their president.

One of the undeniable successes of the last generation of Democrats is their ability to crack the whip and keep everyone in line. On the other hand, the Republican party, with its "mavericks" such as McCain does everything to minimize their ability to act in concert, and it shows. Both houses of Congress and the presidency, and they can't pass meaningful legislation? That, by any rational analysis, is pathetic, and calls for the dismantling of the party structure and hierarchy, starting with the unindicted co-conspirator of the Keating Five.

Also, willowed comment from below...

Schumer just sent a letter to McConnell requesting a meeting with the GOP about health care.

16 I remain, and will undoubtedly remain so, as long as it remains, an enemy of the Republican Party.

I knew one possible outcome of Trump being elected was the Republican Party acting like dicks, and thus destroying what small remaining shred of trust they have with conservatives.

So be it.

This too, is part of the burn so many of us accepted.

17 You should note that - via the tweets so many have told me he should stop using - Trump has emphasized the BS nature of the investigations, thus setting them up for failure.

Something I don't get - Trump has been manipulating the media for about forty years and people still don't believe that he can handle the media. Trump has for decades been dealing with high-powered high-priced lawyers and yet people think he has no idea how to handle them.

34 Trump's approval rating hit 50%

I really hope we see a massive backlash against dems. And not even for the reason's that I used to hope for. It's not political anymore. The democratic party is now an enemy of the constitution. And if they don't learn to moderate and push back against the radicals who've taken over their party, I believe that violence will be inevitable.

The dem party, as it stands today, needs to die. Somewhere along the last 8 years they passed the rubicon and are now actively attempting to subvert free elections and instigate insurrection against anyone who stands in their way.

They absolutely refuse to recognize any other power than their own. The instant they lose a political battle or election, they begin rioting within hours and start de-legitimization campaigns against their opposition. They use the bureaucratic state and activist judges to enforce their will over voters. They actively try to suppress opposing opinions and try to silence any opposition anywhere - often with violence and intimidation. They, through collusion with the media, demonize and DEHUMANIZE their opposition as evil monsters who need to be vanquished.

Since the moment Trump won, they started breaking
windows and burning cars within HOURS of the election. They tried to game the electoral college by threatening electors. They went from trying to impeach Trump for; being a russian spy - to colluding with russians - to members of his campaign colluding with russians - to anyone he's ever met colluding with russians - to Jeff Sessions colluding with Russians - to trying to end a non-existent investigation on him - and now to 'obstructing justice' on an investigation in which he had legal authority end anyway (but didn't).

We all know why Meuller is there. Their many attempts at impeachment failed so now they are trying to find a 'process crime' to justify impeachment if the dems retake the house. After all, why do you think this 'special counsel' just happens to last for two years?

The left has total control over the media and pop culture in this country (and a large segment of education too). This is dangerous. This means that their supporters have bias confirmation virtually anywhere they look - hollywood, "news" media, universities, ect. Without anyone ever challenging their views,
their opinions get more extreme and they begin to lose focus on reality. This is how people get brainwashed. This is how you get grown adults
who think there are 36 genders. This is how you get 'the tolerance crowd' advocating for segregation and penalties against people they've
deemed 'deplorable'.

The dems need backlash so extreme that rational minds regain control of the party and vanquish the radical
elements within it. Because if they don't, and they manage to trick enough people to regain enough power to overt their will over dissenters, the people will take the only option left to secure their rights and freedom.

Regardless of what happens, in will end badly for the left, either at the ballot box or by a civil war they so
desperately want. I just hope it's the first option.

You know the old saying - any prosecutor can convict a guilty man, but it takes a really good one to convict an innocent one. And Trump in all of his past is far from innocent. Yes, he's my guy and I support him, but let's be honest. There is a lot of potential dirt there.

It's like the cops say when they have a suspect they want to interview - we are here all day, and the longer we work this guy the more overtime we can get. There's many of us and one of him - he will get tired and worn out first.

I remember when Bill Clinton was President, there were any number of elected officials and the Carville gang on TV all the time (not to mention the media), pushing the counter narrative: that Clinton's conduct was irrelevant to the duties of a president and a private matter, Starr was a religious zealot and tobacco lawyer personally out to get a brave President, it was way past time to simply "move on", the investigations were limiting a President's ability to focus his energy on the people's business, etc., etc.

89 I actually wrote to Speaker Ryan today with this very message. And, that he and Mitch and other leaders need to articulate this message clearly, with a high profile and often, AND stake out a position that they will recommend disbanding the Special Prosecutor if no compelling evidence of crime, personal to DJT, and about a defined issue, is reflected in a stated interval.

However, they do it, it's clear that the supposed "leaders" of the GOP need to defend us, not the President but we the fricking People who elected him, from a coup against our election.

Not saying that letters are a panacea, but at least everyone should register this as a strong opinion to their elected GOP, especially the leadership. There is another box behind the ballot box, called the letter box. God forbid we need go any more boxes down the line.

95 68 This is absolutely true. Trump is in real trouble here. I don't think he's led a problem free life - and once the prosecutors get going there is no limit to what they will investigate. I think it's true right that the Benghazi investigation led to the discovery of the whole e-mail issue - which really helped scuttle HRC's election hopes.

I'm still waiting for someone from the Press to ask Trump "What has enchanted him most about the presidency so far"

Trump represents an existential threat -- extermination level event -- to progressives gains under Obama and in general to the globalist, left of center establishment that includes GOPe in DC.

The Dems didn't have to infiltrate the GOP. Washington is set up around power, special interests and big government. The Dems are lucky in that they can campaign on that platform. The GOP has to pretend to be conservative but at they end of the day they have to keep their bread buttered.

All that failure theater was not IMO fear of the MSM, or stupidity or wanting to be liked it was a calculated way to become the US equivalent of the British Tory party. Not to be conservative but to give Big, globalist Government a marginally conservative flavor.

That was the main reason I was a Trump supporter and voted for him even in the primary. I saw him as basically the last hope, even though Cruz might have tried in the same general direction.

In some ways I'm surprised things are so calm and mild--so far.

True, but Laura Ingraham pointed out it is much different when dealing with a criminal case than a civil case.

Government has unlimited resources and not just money is at stake. And especially in the case of Deep State that has operated as a DC Mafia, plus has billionaires and global ambitions to protect. They have toppled other governments for their own ambitions, America is just one more that they have planned to defeat anyway.

The media is fighting its own internal war over Nielsen ratings and clicks in our current cable/satellite TV channel smorgasbord and Internet environment. To attract more left-leaning viewers and readers than the competition, the reporters, pundits, and slimeballs like Kathy Griffin, Colbert, and Maher must constantly ratchet-up their rhetoric against Trump, Republicans, and the Deplorables. I think we're in a vicious downward spiral of increasing political hatred being used by the media to make money in a very competitive market. I don't know how that trend can be stopped, because any left-wingers who try to be voice of reason are publicly shamed and thrown out of the Progressive Temple.

Mueller recently hired the Clinton Foundation's lawyer to assist with his investigation.

I'm thinking the chances that any action taken on Hillary or any of her associates is = 0.00. Maybe even negative numbers, as it would make sense that someone like that is there to find *and destroy* evidence on behalf of Clinton co. (eed an insider to know where to look).

I just avoid those and prefer to keep mine stock as designed. Sure, you can do it, but you take away the handiness of the SKS design. If you're doing that, buy a WASR. The ones I saw back in the 90s were abysmal jam o matics. The chicoms made a bunch of these and of course had the AK mag variant.

Posted by: Jollyroger at June 16, 2017 12:48 PM (t06LC)

222 The solution to the Meuller thing is simple and is two-fold.

First - and foremost: Sessions only recused himself for the "Russia probe" of allegations of "collusion" between Russian operatives and senior officials in Trump's campaign - make it clear to Meuller and Rosenstein that that is the case - and that if, in their investigation, they expand the scope of the probe to anything other than that ( including any claims that there was "obstruction") it must be referred to the AG. Period. Also - any adds to staff must be approved by the AG's office - andas such hires must not be partisan associates of the Hillary campaign or the DNC etc. The AG, in other words, needs to make it clear to them that they are on a very, very limited and short leash.

The AG should then look at the so called "obstruction charges" and, since there is absolutely no evidence there was any, end the investigation, say it is ludicrous and that there is no evidence. Public exoneration with a scolding of Meuller for even wasting government resources on it press statement. case closed.

Next - Sessions needs to appoint Special Counsel for the following investigations:

1) Comey leaking confidential communications and interfering with ongoing DOJ investigations, failing to report the interference of Lynch on the Hillary investigation etc. Full bore investigation of Comey - up to his friggen boxer shorts and his family too and all his close subordinates and associates ( which of course would immediately implicate Meuller)

2) An investigation into Susan Rice and the surveilling and unmasking of private individuals in the Trump campaign as part of a pattern of abuses of the Obama admin and the DNC operatives therein to undermine our democracy and turn the US into a "1984 police state.

3) A special prosecutor to re-examine the Hillary Email crimes in light of numbers 1 2

Then he needs to appoint the most partisan, rabid and thorough conservative prosecutors to undertake these investigations ( I believe Rudy Giuliani is tanned, rested and ready for starters).

Then - as the coup de grace - arrest and prosecute Lois Lerner - full bore, coat over her head perp walk to a jail cell and trip to Federal PYITA prison.

Start these things going immediately -

Oh and once Meuller gets implicated in the Comey scandal0- leak that sh*t to the press all day long "Meuller is now under investigation for criminal acts and obstruction" 24/7 talk about him as a disgraced partisan who has lost all credibility.

This is war - do this now. Do not pass go . Do not collect $200 until you do.

225 @206 and 217,

I like the SKS better than my AK's. They seem to have a bit more range and be a bit more accurate than an AK.

One of the positives were the C&R status (and the price back in the day). I wish the Norincos were C&R.

SKS makes a fine hog rifle in Texas.

Notepad. Or any text editor. You want unformatted text. Then go through your copy and replace any smart quotes (the slanty ones) with straight quotes, and any em-dashes (the longer ones) with standard ones. 99% of the time that does it.

As you should, sir.
Win on the names and the fiancé. Congrats to you both. Who knows, after time maybe you could turn her to the dark side. Start with some mild foreplay like explaining how the Road Warrior has conservative overtones. Eventually ramp it up to hardcore stuff like reading Bastiat's The Law. Just don't be surprised if one day you come home to a three way with your wife, Ronald Reagan's A time for choosing on the computer and The Wealth of Nations on the kindle...

I'd also say for the most part the sight picture is a bit better on the sks too, but that is at the margin. I don't dislike them, but they are similar tech to the garand (which I do love).
Posted by: Jollyroger at June 16, 2017 12:46 PM (t06LC)

===============================================

If you like the garand style sights, theres a bolt on rear apature sight that attaches where the takedown lever goes. Do a search for tech sights, I've heard great things. As a bonus, you wind up with a lot more sight radius. When I eventually get an SKS, tech sights are going on it.

well, you should not be too concerned over the political differences. Generally speaking, in reasonable and civilized societies it is customary for the wife to adopt the husbands political positions following marriage, regardless of how different, and in this case warped, her positions may have been before marriage.

You do have some responsibility in ensuring that this transition is both smooth and quick. You will find generous application of the phrases "what did I tell you" and "do not make me remind you again" will ensure a timely transition to rationality. should everything else fail you may have to resort to spankings which will likely have salutary benefits for everyone involved.

good luck and best wishes.
