Portland, Oregon, Mayor Ted Wheeler has called on the federal government to revoke an already-issued permit for what he believes is an “alt-right” protest scheduled to take place in the city on Sunday

The protest will take place on federal property which is why the feds are involved in the permit process.

Mayor Butthurt is all concerned and shit:

“My concern is they’re coming here to peddle a message of hatred and bigotry,” Wheeler said Monday during a news conference. “They have a First Amendment right to speak, but hate speech is not protected.”

So this idiot is a student in the Howard Dean Law School Where You Get To Make Shit Up.

The organizer has told the mayor to go pee up a rope, that he plans to go ahead with the protest as scheduled.

Surprisingly, the ACLU is on the side of the "alt-right" protesters:

“The government cannot revoke or deny a permit based on the viewpoint of the demonstrators. Period,” the organization wrote on Monday.

Meanwhile, check out this shouty video of shouty students at Evergreen State having a temper tantrum.

Somebody videoed the temper tantrum, and it went viral, and so now the shouty students are all butthurt:

“We demand that the video created for Day of Absence and Day of Presence that was stolen by white supremacists and edited to expose and ridicule the students and staff be taken down by the administration by this Friday.”

Uh, kids? You don't need white supremacist film editors to help you look bad. Just sayin'.

The initial reports were truncated. They made a big deal of the "muslim hate" talk from the killer, but only later related he was talking shit about like Christians or "f-ing Jews". The press loves saying his last name which is "Christian." And they have cropped the prior booking photo probably because of his record.

The question left unasked is why was this fairly young convicted armed robber with serious mental health problems riding around in the cute Max trains in PDX. Well, you know the answer. But it's about "hate". Really it is.

The ACLU position may be less pro free speech than "we have defended Nazis before" implying, of course, that any Trump supporter is a Nazi.

I thought this PDX mayor would be different given the more muscular response to the anarchists. Apparently I was wrong.

Unintended consequences are delightful. These same "Unicycle people" want denser development within an urban area, but they can't admit that such denser development still requires a denser road infrastructure. Even if people ride unicycles around their own neighborhood, they will still drive to and from other neighborhoods, or other cities.

And so the suburbs become exurbs and actually "sprawl" even further out.

Irony of History: CA itself was mostly rightist, up to the early 1990s. But Cold War victory meant that the computer hardware, defense and aerospace industries, which were actually much more important than graphic arts and motion pictures in NorCal and SoCal respectvely, folded up and closed down.

341 Just a reminder of the virus that is California ex-pats. Oregon used to be relatively conservative and still is in parts. Once they were flooded by folks from California, it tilted hard left. You can probably tick off a number of other states infected the same way.

They showed a video on CNN taken a few days before the stabbing in which the Bernie supporter is shouting aggressively about "Christians and Muslims". CNN described this as a racist rant which it wasn't, it was an anti-religious rant. The idea was to show right wing extremism and if a facts need to be bonsai-ed, so be it.

Including California. The primary tumor was in the Northeast and upper Midwest. California was just a metastasis. Just like WA, NM, VT, and now CO.
