There were clear questions and obvious problems regarding Barky's eligibility (and Sheriff Joe's posse did a pretty comprehensive investigation into that photoshopped jpeg he claimed was his birth certificate) and only a total fool thought that it should not, at the very least, be heard in court.

Trying tonight to make jambalaya; this will be attempt #2. Last time I had no meat or protein to add, so I tossed in some leftover sliced-up beef hot links; this time I decided to try throwing in some shrimp. But I only had 1/3 pound of shrimp, so thought I would also toss in some microwave-thawed chicken as well.
Then I had the idea to run both through a shrimp boil. I did so with the McCormick box stuff; it came out seemingly okay, but didn't go anything like I thought it would. Anyway I added it to the jambalaya, along with a ton of tomato sauce, tomatoes and garlic ('cuz I'm Italian, okay?!?) and it's cooking in the pot right now.
So quickie question: it's not a violation in Cajunland to throw chicken into your shrimp/crab boil, is it? Was wondering if somehow that was what was throwing off everything in the pot (it took forever to get the water to boil off, it seemed).

Depends on what's wrong. Had a similar issue with my last TV. Was quoted as a 400 repair. Asked my Dad to look at it and he was able to repair for the cost of the capacitors- $5.

I love walking. I get up at 445 every morning and take my dog. I do it again at 5 pm. 5 miles total a day. It's good for your mind as well as your bones.

On a good day, I go about a mile on a path at a nearby park. One of the things that helps IMHO is that the park is a short drive away... in the past I was walking *to* the park, walking around it, then walking back.
Now it feels like a bit of a trip, which for me adds something to it. I'm just weird that way I guess.
Would like to work up to 2 miles (two laps around the park) by the end of the year. I admit that as of now, I usually have to take a break on a bench about halfway around.

I know most of the Mongolian girls I met were attractive in all sorts of different styles (was sort of expecting the "all look alike" thing, but not by a long shot). Also about two feet taller than their grandmas, but I think a lot of the oldsters had ricketts because vitamin deficiency is a major problem even now.

He's playing Class A baseball in the South. I think his team is out of one of the Carolinas.
Anyways, he's selling out stadiums both at home and on the road. Some stadiums have double the ticket sales when his team rolls in to town.
The league plays around the South, so lots of families show up along with Florida Gator fans. Opposing teams are even putting ticket packages together around Tebow and his team.
And as always, he tries to be real nice about signing autographs, talking to people, etc. It's yet another great story about a great guy.

She's okay for a dog her age.
The disturbing stuff came as I was taking her out. A lady was walking in with her dog which had been attacked by a bear. It was on it's feet, and on the mend, but shaved all over with stitches galore. Must have been a hell of a mess after the attack. The dog was lying on the deck of their house when it happened. Not a young dog either, 14 years old, maybe 30 lbs., and licky friendly.
Then, it got worse. I saw an older lady hurrying around her car and lifting out a small, completely limp dog from the passenger side.
I immediately went to the door of the office and held it open as she ran in. She was barely in control of herself, trying to choke back uncontrolled crying.
It seems that she had just picked up the dog from the groomer, and the dog just went totally unconscious.
I don't think the lady could have been more distraught if it had been her child. Cast a pall over my day.

Funny you should mention that. I walk down a 2 lane blacktop in the mornings. Some mornings it's so dark I just go by feel ( if my feet hit gravel or grass I know I'm off path) I persist (like Hillary) and hope for the best. Honestly, as an introvert and "intuitive" on the Meyers/Briggs thing I found pretty much all the Mongols I met to be slightly (though very sweetly) insane. To me they seem super extroverted (once again, not the stereotype for Asians) and more "sensing" oriented. Then again, if you have to live in a small space with a number of others for an extended time extroversion probably helps, and if chances are good you're going to be spending a lot of time out doors (in winter) doing physical work than *liking* that sort of thing probably helps too. I can see how their history would shape a preference for those traits.

Lakewood actually just a few years ago got its first private gated community, called Gordon Ranch. It's right across the street from Rynerson, at the corner of Del Amo and Studebaker. It's tiny and the homes aren't huge, but I've seen a few Mercedes and other expensive cars go in and out.

I've had two similar incidents within the past year with my beagle who is getting older. In both cases the vet gave me muscle relaxants and steroids. Solved the problem after a short time. But I have to keep her from trying to jump on and off the bed and the sofa. That kind of jumping is too hard on her now.

That's the name of the girl I semi keep in touch with on Facebook. She goes by "Eggy". I was impressed how well the young adults spoke English since it's their third language. I don't think I could ever learn Mongolian because I *can't hear* the differences in vowel sounds that differentiate the words.
One thing I want to carry in the shop is little "mottos" that have the different Fruit of the Spirit (love, joy, peace, etc) in traditional Mongolian script. It's very lovely.

We have used a veterinary chiropractor for some of our guys who have had problems. I was originally skeptical about it but they get actual relief. See if there's one near you.

There's this great book called Quiet that kind of explains it.
You sort of go into extrovert mode for a period of time, and then need your alone time.
On a semi-regular basis, I have to go to this convention and talk to a gazillion people and be outgoing and super charming. At some point- either alone in the hotel room or when I finally return home, I'm so emotionally exhausted I end up having a tearful meltdown.

I think performers especially, *have* to eventually build a wall between the 'real' person and the stage persona. Otherwise, they go crazy.
Among other things (obviously), I think one of the things that made Michael Jackson just a shade this side of insane, is that I remember there was such an *intense* focus on his personal life (and what a pervert he was). I think after a while, MJ felt as if he couldn't actually be himself *anywhere.*

I realized I had 3 problems. One, a tad too much headspace, and the main result of that was that the ejector failed to grab the rim of the cartridge every time. Second, the bolt, specifically the front half that acts as the breechblock, was binding in the receiver, such that pulling back on the bolt handle would not move it, although it would move if I pulled on the striker knob. Third, and the reason for the FTF, was that the striker was binding in the receiver, and coming to a stop before it hit the firing pin hard enough to dimple the case of the cartridge.
The second issue, I fixed first, by dint of marking the bolt with rings made with a Sharpie marker (in lieu of layout die), cycling it a few times, and filing roughness off where scratches appeared in the markings. I also used a fine sanding disc in my Dremel tool to buff the worked-over areas. Rinse and repeat several times, and I finally got the bolt to cycle smoothly when moved by the handle.
Second, I dealt with the headspace issue by putting a spot of MIG weld on the rear side of the handle stem where it follows the ramp in the receiver. Then file, trial fit, file, trial fit, on and on, until I finally got it to just close, but without huge force on the handle. Tried a couple of rounds, and still FTF, but the unfired cartridge did extract OK.
Addressed the third issue the same way as the first. Marked the circumference of the striker with Sharpie ink, and filed/buffed high areas where cycling it wore the ink off. Several go-rounds were required. Finished by spraying the entire bolt assembly with dry moly lube spray, a favorite of mine for treating sliding parts.
Assembled it, and the first round tried went bang! As it should, and ejected easily. And the spent case had a substantial divot where it was struck by the firing pin.
I left it there, as I had other things to do, and had run myself out of time. When I get a chance, I'll fire off another few rounds, and see if it's consistent. But I think I have broken the back of the problem, and it's now at the tweaking stage.

Tough day for dogs. My wife was out walking our dog Smokey this afternoon. My daughter just pulled into the driveway, having returned from college. I look out the window expecting to see my daughter walking up the front path, but instead I see my wife, half running, sobbing. At first I thought something happened to Smokey, but then I saw that he was OK...
My wife was down the street a few blocks, when a bulldog attempted to cross the street to meet her and Smokey. Didn't make it. Our street's fairly busy, typical speed of cars is 30-35 mph. The dog got hit, and dragged under the car for some distance. It was left in the middle of the street, immobile and screaming. The owner, who was in his garage, took the dog to the vet but my wife thinks the dog didn't stand much of a chance. My wife, who loves animals, was devastated. My daughter didn't get quite the homecoming she was hoping for.

Yep. I'm not on the level of fame as MJ, obviously, but I've been at my current radio gig long enough that people recognize me, especially if I talk. I've had more than a few people who think they "know" me ask some personal questions, and some that have to give their critique of what they think is wrong with the station and how much better of a job THEY would do. Thankfully, they're outnumbered by the nice folks, but some days, I don't want to be "that guy on the radio". I just want to be a guy getting groceries at the store.

He tells me that really hurt his feelings, and he didn't appreciate being rejected by me, and I ended up calling him and smoothing things over.
But, good God. If this is what it's like being with an over-emotional woman...you men are doing the Lord's work.

Y5, Tilikum Killer Assault Whale, who posts here, met me in Arizona a month and a half ago, and he mentioned a place called Battlefield Vegas, where you can shoot machineguns and such. He said it was really enjoyable and interesting. Might be an ideal activity for a MoMee.

My childhood was pretty much the opposite of everyone's experience with their ex wife.
My Dad was the moody one, and I swear, he chose my Mom because she was solid as a freaking rock and NEVER had moods. EVER.
As for Dad's moodiness, well, his mother (haha, did you notice I disowned my grandmother?) was batsh*t crazy, and it was Mom's influence that kept Dad sane.

Well, they seem to be notorious for losing bolts. Bolt open, the only thing that keeps the bolt from falling right out is the sear. And if the sear spring is weak, or the mechanism gummed up, out it comes, and gets lost in the bush. Which is what happened to mine. I got a used bolt from a guy I met at the gun show, and he warned me that it would have to be basically custom-fit to the receiver.

I have an idea in mind. Make a little half-hoop of thin steel, and weld a bump on the inside to fit in the rearmost part of the slot made to accommodate the bolt handle, which does not come all the way back in normal use. Carry the ends of the hoop around to the underside of the receiver, and make it such that it's trapped in place when the receiver is fitted into the stock.

The thing that irritates me is when a friend says or hints about something, then clams up about it. It feels as if they are deliberately hiding something, or don't trust me enough to share the information. This is how I read the situation. I can sympathize with the guy for getting a little irritated - he probably feels hurt that you don't trust him. (That is my guess as to how he might feel. In reality, I have no clue!)
Yeah, he told you if you don't want to talk about it, fine. But what he really wanted was for you to confide in him, and that didn't happen.
Bottom line, don't bring up something that you don't want to talk about. (Yeah, easier said than done, I know.) If he doesn't know, he won't know you are withholding something.
Anyway, I hope things get patched up and all becomes kosher....

But, when I called he was pretty....upset, and his mood was significantly improved when I let him go. Of course, maybe it was a temp fix, a band aid.

I just responded by my gut, Tammy. I always do when it comes to relationships.
In an online relationship, the "trial" where you decide if it's worth going to the trouble of meeting, I just think it's easier to be who you are. No hedging, "best behavior" bullshit. If you can't be honest talking "in the dark" as it were, why even bother with the relationship? Flush out the problems right away.

I laughed at my idiot self this afternoon. I needed to weed-eat -- it's spring and shit has started growing -- and I need to start the weedeater for the first time in a while. Got some ethanol free gas to mix for it. Only paid $3.40 a gallon for it. These ethanol people can take a corn cob and do something with it.
Anyway, I got it filled with new gas mix, primed the little carb and went to yanking. I yanked and yanked. And then yanked some more. Wouldn't hit a lick.
It turned out that I was looking at the choke wrong. I thought it was fully on, but it was fully off. Put it on, and it fired right up.
The root of that is the ol' eyes just ain't what they used to be. I've got glasses, had them for several years, but can't stand to wear them. The choke indicator was sort of blurry....
