The Storm.jpg

The Storm
Pierre-Auguste Cot

[H/T Jacinthe Des Bois]

There are all sorts of competing ideas in this work. The innocence and sweetness in the faces of the two is in contrast to the barely hidden sexuality of the girl, and the horn (with its obvious connotation) on the hip of the boy.

Or maybe it's just a very nicely executed painting of an interesting scene.

"Children, behave"
That's what they say when we're together
"And watch how you play"
They don't understand

And so we're running just as fast as we can
Holding on to one another's hand
Trying to get away into the night
And then you put your arms around me
As we tumble to the ground and then you say

I think we're alone now
There doesn't seem to be anyone around
I think we're alone now
The beating of our hearts is the only sound

Look at the way
We gotta hide what we're doing
'Cause what would they say
If they ever knew

And so we're running just as fast as we can
Holding on to one another's hand
Trying to get away into the night
And then you put your arms around me
As we tumble to the ground and then you say

I think we're alone now

When I first saw it, I saw young love. As I kept looking, I saw the satyr first. And where there's a satyr, there's a nymph. Yet they look like neither. These two mythological figures are Western symbols of orgy and inhibition, yet here Cot hid it behind to young, beautiful lovers. I really appreciate that kind to play in art.

126 I have seen several of Cot's paintings and like all of them. They typically have a romantic realism that impresses by itself. But it doesn't distract from the other artistic techniques such as the poses, his ability to show such detail in clothing, that diaphanous quality of the girl's veil (how the hell does he achieve that?), and his color choices.

Many of his works have a serious aura of sensuality like this one and "Spring" or "Girl with Basket of Oranges and Lemons" that is alluring without being pornographic. There is nothing crude about the nudity; it is more innocent or, perhaps, joyous. Very appealing and effective.

Cot doesn't rely on suggestiveness. I saw a portrait of his daughter he did (she looks to be mid to late teens) that is simply lovely. It would be worth having just for the pose and skin tones he used.

When I first saw it, I saw two young lovers running from an approaching storm. They are sheltering themselves with her dress which horny guy had managed to get off her before the storm hit leaving her covered only in your lacy underalls. The storm obviously references the storm of hormones and emotions and other stuff about to spring forth.

Now they are running for shelter to complete their lover's tryst. All that's missing is Marvin Gaye crooning Let's Get It On in the background.

Yeah, before I retired I never ever ever saw the point of D-I-V-E-R-S-I-T-Y for diversity's sake. Why, you ask? Because, if your organization is big enough, all those diverse people self segregate and only deal with the majority when they have to do so. It is particularly bad when another language is their first language because then you have groups of people jabbering away in Hindi or Farsi or whatever instead of English, which does nothing but cause resentment and suspicion. Then when one of them makes it into management, they only hire their ethnicity, AMHIK. My last supervisor, who was from India, hired nothing but Indians once he got hiring authority. There was one group in Chicago where the Indian manager had hired 160+ Indians. But, hey, that was diversity and it was double plus ultra good.

205 I've got a radical idea how about separating everyone based on race. Where you can live, shop, go to school everything so peoples of colors will never have to feel threatened by whitey. Let's call it something that makes people feel like they are a part of their group something like apartheid.
Posted by: TheQuietMan at May 12, 2017 10:06 AM (493sH)

And then you can get your revenge on the folks not like you by mass murdering them something like genocide. Apartheid was brutal and bad, but, murdering all the Whites in South Africa is going to leave them with nothing. Why you ask, because you cannot replace farmers with warlords and get good results.

So in stead of trying to reform the religion and bringing it into the 21st Century, we legitimize their barbarity and backwardness and condone it? We do that elsewhere? So segregation is all right?

That's right. And all this chicken-little "deep state" hyperventilation could benefit from taking a deep breath and grokking the apt observation you've made--a few outspoken partisans in positions to be heard don't speak for entire agencies or communities. I have a problem with normalizing single-sex things after feminists explicitly destroying all single-sex things for the past 3-4 decades. If they can have a princess prom, why can't men have the Augusts Golf club, or a boys only VMI????

It's the "women are equal except when they're better 'n special" business that grates.

Also, this princess prom feeds into the whole Lefty rape culture myth/boys can't be trusted nonsense that the feminists have been pushing on college campuses. No, men are rapists by default in *their* culture/home country, but American boys are not taught to rape, not told to treat women without a headscarf as "uncovered meat."

EXCLUSIVE: Disgraced Bill O'Reilly scouted by conservative media outlets after Fox News exit
(new york daily news)

Bill O'Reilly's ex-wife claims he attacked her after she found him having phone sex in 2009

According to McPhilmy, she found her then-husband engaging in phone sex while half-naked at around 10:30 p.m. one evening in December 2009. O'Reilly "flew into a fit of rage" upon her discovery and slammed her into a nearby wall. The force of her body hitting the wall left behind a hole that measured one foot across. He then, according to the affidavit, wrapped his arms around her shoulders, neck and hands, making it impossible for her to move.

McPhilmy was violently dragged out of her bedroom and down the second floor hallway of their multi-million dollar home in Long Island, New York. O'Reilly then dragged her down the stairs and through the kitchen.

342 I've never seen anything that shows most law enforcement are former military.

==

Veterans get hiring preference in federal , state and local law enforcement by law.

They also have some measure of firearms exposure and understanding of a rank structure as well as knowledge of operational security.

The statistics are not very solid but the best guesses put post-Vietnam era police at about 75% veteran which has dropped to today's 50% or so.

Again, anecdote is not data but if you ask an agent whether or not their was sufficient evidence to prosecute Hillary, they are likely going to answer yes if they don't want to be thought of as a fool.

Prosecution is up to the DOJ. That's the USAO lawyers who debate what the meaning of is is and plot their career trajectory based on the "sex appeal" of a case.

You don't think that FBI agents want to put bad people in jail? After being prevented from doing just that for 8 lawless years?

Okay. Cool.

My experience is very different.

EXCLUSIVE: Disgraced Bill O'Reilly scouted by conservative media outlets after Fox News exit
(new york daily news)

eek

Do not say she was too scared to leave--she could have left with the support of everyone who wanted to bring down O'Reilly. I have never cared for him and I am not defending him--let him get whatever is coming to him.

In an affidavit filed in October of 2011, Bill O'Reilly's ex-wife Maureen McPhilmy accused him of assaulting her in a vicious attack at their home

McPhilmy said in the court filing, which was first obtained by Jezebel, that she caught O'Reilly having phone sex in their bedroom while naked from waist down

He then slammed her into a wall, dragged her down a hallway and grabbed her by the throat before pulling her down the stairs claims the affidavit

O'Reilly stopped the attack after he encountered a security guard who was in the family's $2.2million home to protect them according to the affidavit

McPhilmy said she opted to not press charges or tell authorities when asked by the guard, who she noted was caught off guard seeing her naked husband

Stepnoski was not the brightest bulb -- undoubtedly aided by the fact that he played center, not cornerback -- and O'Reilly clowned him. It was like debating one of the "slow" kids. Yeah, I've noticed that too. I really don't think Obambi would/could impregnate a woman. I do remember stories about Moochelle having a relatively obvious relationship with a Marine Corps guard at the White house. Maybe it was the guy Baraka made hold up the umbrella. Whoever it was, he better have been drawing hazard pay.

Seriously, work on your health. Health is important to men. Men are looking for somebody as a lifetime partner. Start eating High Fat, Protien and zero carbs with only one meal a day. Start working out. The more effort that you put into yourself for the longest amount of time, the more responses you will get from men. You want a loyal healthy good looking man yourself right? Well you have to work for it these days.

I lost 70 lbs in 4 months. It can be done. You can do this.

That's awesome! YouTube Crossfit and watch some of their competitions. Write down modified versions of them. The more cardio that you do the less muscle you will put on. You should concentrate on putting on muscle and strength the first 8 weeks. Then spend 4 weeks doing higher reps. Try to stay in a fat burning zone so you don't burn muscle and protein. Stay away from all carbs.

Do legs everyday and core everyday. That is what men like. Have fun and be confident.
