Good morning.

Here are just a few things that didn't get too much attention here at the AoSHQ.

Enjoy these stories or find something else to discuss in this open thread. As always, no running with sharp objects, keep those elbows off the table and play nice with one another.

Have a great weekend!!!

39 Logan's Run was a big hit at the time.

Between 2001 and Star Wars, science fiction films were primarily earthbound social SF. Star Wars proved you could do special effects and space opera and have it be successful, so studios were more willing to spend the money after that.

54 RE that HS rape story....

Let's not lose sight of the real issue here. The real issue is the fact that 18 year old yutes who are here in the states illegally and who have no background check or evaluation of personal or social skills are being integrated with your school aged kids who themselves have less than adequate personal or social skills and apparently no one at the school or the school administration has any issue with that. Because your tax dollars are paying for it.

It's fascinating how the "Alternate Reality Zombie of a Hillary! Presidential Win" keeps stalking through our society.

Just looking at their determination to carry on TEH Reezeetanz- i.e.. just keep cranking out all the silly/horrible crap they had on tap over a year ago in planning-

means it would now be 10X worse if Hillary! were actually Prez.

Even little things..like this Spring there's a ton of fymynyst slogan T-shirts from every major and minor designer-

your daughters as walking billboards for the Progs Glorious Cultural Revolution.

That's why it was so important to have gotten wins for Trump in the "continuing resolution".

The Wall would've been enough as a start plus, restoring the free market sales of health ins even without touching Obamacare would've been a huge victory-

and sign that all their cultural posturing means nothing in the face of political reality.

Giving the progtards hope that violence and counter-reality posturing can bring political victory-

only makes Trump's and the Rep's job harder.

Assuming the Reps actually want to restore America and the Middle Class- an iffy proposition at best.

re gluten -- I've previously linked here about a study that shows that 90% of people on gluten free diets have no real reason to be doing it. Essentially, if you don't have a diagnosis of celiac disease, you're chasing a phantom.

And since I am on a diet related topic, check out this blog link to read about a long hidden study about how replacing saturated fats with vegetable oil increases the risk of death:

http://preview.tinyurl.com/muw8f3h

What makes it persuasive is the size and the quality of the controls they have on the study, using institutionalized people as the study subjects (where exact diets are known/controlled). This study is probably not the kind that can be repeated.

Might not be Lyme's.

Maybe one of Nature's Weird Little Viruses(TM).

A good friend of ours got something through a mosquito bite, that affected her memory and had some but not all Lyme symptoms-

Antibiotics didn't help, so the doc concluded that it was probably viral.

It took her 2 maybe 3 years to really get over it.

So, you may be on the path to wellness. But, it may take a while.

Whatever economic benefits come with the EU can be accomplished if all the nations involved met together and produced a one time treaty to agree on easing trade/travel restrictions.

You don't have to produce a new, separate agency that will morph into some EPA-like Frankenstein that will continue to shamble on, creating idiotic regulations that end up doing economic harm that outdoes the good it accomplished. They are also trying to get the British to outlaw electric tea kettles. Trying to separate an Englishman from his tea is like trying to separate a Canadian from poutine.

He's a commercial pilot who took on the video project gratis and is talented. California is going to take the cheapest way out. (California has a $8billion rainy day fund they haven't tapped yet for this disaster (I don't believe it; bookkeeping magic)...Moonbeam has the nerve to ask Trump for money)They will replace the existing spillway without replacing the existing gate structure instead of building a brand new structure down the line. It can't be done in one year so they are gambling next winter will not wipe out a half completed structure.

At bottom, Oroville Dam is a case study in government misfeasance. It was built on the cheap and maintained on the cheap.

demographic nightmare. I believe their birth rates for native citizens
is lower than pretty much everywhere else in Europe.

334 67 Did anyone peruse the entire Cinco de Milo Event last night, at 9pm which turned into an Obama-like 9:50pm at which time Milo entered in the most flaming gay way with an albino boa constrictor draped over his shoulder, a bevy of healthy, muscular, African Males stripped to the waist following him backed up by skinny teenage girls in bikinis toting rifles at the ready position?

When I saw that, I just turned it off. It looked more as if his $12 million has bought a homo hedonist heaven from which he intends to restore conservatism.

I could not watch it. If anyone did, please let me know what transpired after the gay orgy was over.

I was unaware of it, but from your description it could have been an ingenious strategem if he mixed in conservative politics with flaming homosexual showmanship. A lot harder for the Reds to go after him without spalling off one of their protected constituencies.

337 Just watched a bit of Cinco de Milo, and I think he's posing a serious problem for the Reds. He's outrageous, flaming across the midnight sky, unapologetically conservative/ libertarian, and bashing political correctness, and slaughtering leftist sacred cows.

How exactly can they dump on him?

Milo has been using the palanquin entrance for a while now. I am still amused by it. Don't always agree with him, but he is an excellent writer and enjoy his work.

I think conservatives too often think (understandably) that if they find an "immune" spokesman for conservatism, this will somehow get them a hearing. We chase after people "Fiorina's a woman, and conservatish, Carson's black and is conservatish".

It doesn't seem to work. Liberals smell conservatism a mile away, and that cancels out the immunity from slander, violence, exclusion, etc. For instance Ayan Hirsi-Ali's talk at *Brandeis* was cancelled because Muslim activists objected to her, and of course the administration kowtowed to their demands.

I think you're right, but the actual target is the young, reflexive, lib and the idea is to make them question what they have been taught about conservatives. Don't know how well it works but it's worth a try.

That's my take, too. Milo's young, hip, outrageous, iconoclastic ... and conservative. He's also fun, and makes a distinct contrast from the bitter scolds and nannies of the Left. He's fighting on the cultural war level, which could at least in principle make conservativism "cool."

Sound impossible? Yeah, it does. But then I remember that there was a time when blacks, homosexuals, and Commies were all outside the mainstream of culture, too.

He's also a brilliant marketer. There was a reason for the "unconventional" tableau he presented. Besides reaching out to the tolerant of diversity crowd, he added the gun-toting pin-ups to keep the hetero 2nd amendment dudes in his corner.

Absolutely true, but I think there's a fundamental difference with Milo. Fiorina and Carson belong to protected groups, but neither has the star power or charisma of a Milo (nor the birth certificate; they're both geezers by the standards of the young).

Furthermore, neither one is as outrageous as Milo, who naturally attracts attention, and who happily flouts social convention.

All in all, he may be able to attract a following among the young, and get them to reconsider their reflexive leftism.

352 All in all, he may be able to attract a following among the young, and get them to reconsider their reflexive leftism.

There is an undercurrent of rebellion against reflexive leftism, and it's happening on the new media. YouTube, twitter, livestreams, 4chan, is where the kiddos congregate for their news and political discussion. Alphabet media is for their parents and grandparents.

The Trump presidency is a serious blow to the forward march of Soros/Alinsky Inc. The youth rebellion would have continued even had Hillary won; however she and her flying monkeys would have had more power to shut down dissent. With Trump admin in office, the underground is a free speech and oppo zone.
