Don't Mess With Texas: State Preparing to Levy Fines and Even Imprison Officials Who Won't Enforce State Law Against Sanctuary Cities

God bless Texas, the Based State.

(I just found out recently that "Based" means "not caring about what others say and being proud to be defiant," or something like that. Though if I'm wrong about Teenage Internet Slang, let me know.)

Jazz Shaw digests an AP article:

. Out in the Lone Star State, Republicans are moving forward with a bill which would essentially ban sanctuary cities and impose some stiff penalties for those not in compliance. This is in keeping with statements that Governor Abbott has made in the past, so if it makes it to his desk it will likely go through. Part of it is the usual route of cutting off state funding and grants, but this one takes the additional step of holding leaders, including police chiefs and sheriffs, accountable. And that could mean fines or even jail time.

I just got an erection so full it began sprouting smaller, spikey erections. My dick now looks like a morningstar in that Frank Frazetta painting -- you know the one. And by "one," I mean all of them.

Sorry I Lied: I thought I remembered a Frazetta painting on one of those Ace fantasy books with Conan, or a Conan ripoff, smashing someone's head with a morningstar, but I can't find it, nor can I find any Frazetta paintings where the hero uses a morningstar. In some, you can see, amidst the Gigantic Pile of Slain Enemies, a morningstar sticking up from the human ruin, but I don't see any exemplars of morningstars as the hero's weapon.

A survey of Frazetta's oevure indicates that he chiefly worked in the medium of battle axes, with some sparing use of sword strokes, and occassionally just straight-up strangulation.

Mexico's government relies on illegal immigration for two reasons:

1) its a net flow of cash into Mexico from the USA
2) Its a safety valve for revolution, by dumping people into the US who are unhappy with their home and ambitious enough to act on it.

Mexico's corrupt drug cartel-linked government only can continue of the people don't do anything about it. If you offload potential trouble constantly, you can maintain power, propped up by narco dollars and remittances from the USA.

If all they did was break up the court into smaller districts (which really ought to be done), it would stay the same body of judges, spread into different courts, as I understand it.

Of course, a lot of them are quite elderly and headed out the door soon if not already. So replacements could make a huge difference.

Absolutely, Allie. By the way, all Morons take heart because the 9th Jerkut Court of Schlemiels *can't* foul this up, TX in 5th circut.

A modest proposal: 12th Circut Created, with all states and territories of the 9th except CA. 9th circut restricted to just CA.

Circut Districts, like Federal Reserve districts, often have archaic boundaries reflecting populations of 100 years ago.

191 An ESPN site targeting female sports fans on Thursday removed a poem paying homage to a convicted cop killer after an oversight in the editorial process led to the poem being published several days ago, the embattled sports giant told Fox News.

Shakur, aka Joanne Chesimard, the godmother of the late rapper Tupac Shakur, is suspected in a series of early 1970s incidents linked to black revolutionary groups in New York City, including a bank robbery, grenade attack and the ambushing of police officers in Queens and Brooklyn. She was convicted of fatally shooting a New Jersey trooper in the head in 1973, but escaped prison and, in the early 1980s, fled to Cuba, where she was granted political asylum. She is on the list of the FBIs Most Wanted Terrorists.

How about, "Don't antagonize your far more powerful neighbor?"

To be accurate, Turkey and Bacon should go onto the sandwich in generous proportions. Srchirancha (sp?) mayonnaise gets ladled on. Your own predilections may allow for additions of tomato, avocado and if you are unusually perverse, greens of some type.

Turkey is not, and never can be bacon.

A quick primier for non-Cali Morons about what happened to CA:

CA has always had a Commiecrat element, from Commiewood in the South,to certain San Francisco unions who actually took their marching orders from the Soviet Consulate on Green Street.

But the CA Left *was* well-outnumbered by a CA Right consisting of the defense industries, aerospace manufacturers and military bases. This was how Uncle Ron got elected and emerged from here, and he was a former Leftist who wised up.

Irony of Cold War Victory: That California Right basically folded up.

And the WSJ Greedhead GOP decided it so needed cheap gardeners and maids that it would prove Lenin correct.

across the state targeting the offices of an engineering company

offices in the city of Laredo and Webb County.

No word yet on the nature of the raids.

Kinda makes you wonder if this is like when Obama's DHS outsource manufacture of border patrol uniforms to Mexico. Because there's nothing that could go wrong with *that* decision...

Posted by: The Circuitous Hat at April 27, 2017 02:36 PM (rUIbB)

I've seen a few different proposals over the years. The most practical, at least imo, is to do it geographically and have the sitting judges remain in the geographic location they're in. That way current cases can maintain some semblance of continuity. Also, though I may be misremembering, geographic requires the least about of practical set up such as courthouses and staff and the like.

Look, here's the thing. It will be expensive to do. There's no getting around that. Any solution will have drawbacks. Such is life.

Make them liable, in both their personal and official capacities, for the damages caused when the illegal alien criminals they release, instead of turning over to ICE, go on to rape, kill, kidnap (or whatever) again in the U.S.

Once one of these sheriffs get slapped with a multi-million-dollar judgment that he or she can't pass off on the taxpayers, they'll change their tune soon enough.

Reading about the early American wars after the Revolution, it's interesting to watch the ebb and flow of talent in the higher ranks of the military.

In pretty much every war, the military commanders who ended up winning things worked their ways up, their deeds overcoming the politics of the old promotion system (Jackson and Grant vs. Hull and McClellan).

No huge lesson there other than the obvious (talented people should be helped in their careers while untalented people should move aside), but it's just interesting to watch it repeat.

Currently, as you can see, the park is VERY sparsely populated. If things continue at this pace, the whole thing will fizzle out to nothing.

Generally, it takes a minimum of several hundred participants for a real riot to break out. Nowhere near that yet.

346 I don't see what's expensive about breaking up the Ninth. We'd need a few new court houses at most.

My modest proposal is to put them in places llike Billings, MT and Searchlight, NV, and re-assign some current judges into early retirement
Posted by: Ignoramus at April 27, 2017 03:09 PM (SIY7D)

It's not just courthouses. I *think* the proposed new number of judges is 30 or around there. That's 30 judges, the support staff for those judges, the courthouses, the security for the courthouses, the salaries and benefits for all those people, and all the rest of the ancillary costs with starting a new court system.

It's not going to be $10,000,000 one time. Now, is it a necessary cost? I would argue yes. But there are both one time and continuing expenses to consider.

Some guys are like woman and like to go for the hard conquests.

Sometimes you carry yourself differently.

Sometimes it's because a single woman can give off a bit of a "desperate" vibe. (guys can as well)

387 When I was in college, was with a bunch of buddies in bar drinking having a good time. Girl comes in who knows one of my friends and she starts talking.

I'm sitting on bar stool. Its not crowded but she doesn't sit down. She stands across from me. My knee is kind of out cause one foot is on the stool rung. After a few minutes, she edges closer and finally starts grinding her crotch directly into my kneecap. hard enough to push the stool back into the bar.

I was completely flabbergasted. Flat out in shock. Next thing I know my buddies dragged me out of there.

They told me later that she was engaged and getting married in about two weeks. I also learned that about a week earlier she had stripped naked in front of one of my buddies room mates. He never stood a chance.

Weird sense of having missed out on an amusement park disaster.

First, just as men are attracted to women that OTHER men like, there is the value of being stamped as publicly acceptable.
Second --- and this is far more important ---a man who is attached is clearly capable of attachment and commitment, which is what women naturally desire.

The fact that these women have no respect for your commitment to another woman is .... ironic.

Good catch!

Also, "cunnus" ("pussy") is an unusual 4th-declension neuter noun, and as such the ablative could be either "cunno" or "cunnu" -- some 4th-declension nouns have the weird "-u" ablative ending. But cunnus is so obscure/taboo that no normal dictionaries include it in its list of irrgularities. So it could go either way.

So, adding it all up, the correct phrase could be either

Prendite vitam a cunno

or

Prendite vitam a cunnu

But I'd go with the first one, as the second just seems too weird to the English speaker.

Also, to be super-technically correct, it ought to be

Prendite a cunno vitam

...but there's no need to make the word order that way, because it's confusing for English speakers, and the other "normal" way is also acceptable in Latin.
