Quote of The Day

Quote I

The Fifth Republic is in a grim state. Dodging a bullet doesn't make much of a difference if you're riddled with disease. Mark Steyn

While we are looking at France, Let's meet one of France's presidential candidates and his lovely wife.

"That's why this latest "scandal" doesn't appear to matter at all to the French. Emmanuel Macron, who by several projections is set to win the French presidency in two weeks, was just a 15-year-old student when his 40-year-old teacher seduced him – and the two are married today.

What did you wish for as a child, BB Gun? A certain pet? A tree house? Childhood wish remains an adult wish.

When I was younger a treehouse was one of my biggest wishes. I never had trees big enough for a proper treehouse so I had to settle for a backyard fort. Many friends had tree houses though and we had the time of our lives building and fortifying them. As an adult I still dream of having a treehouse however my imagination holds nothing to some of these I found online. Check these amazing tree houses out!

Our "Betters" in Washington, D.C. certainly know how to spend money. Not satisfied with lesbian health? Why don't you want to use the Metric System? Probably has something to do with Hate.

Previously passed by Congress and signed into law by the POTUS, PDT's wall spending is a mere pittance compared to some of the retarded wasteful spending.

President Donald Trump’s request that Congress include $1.4 billion to fund the beginning of his proposed wall on the U.S.-Mexico border equals approximately 0.035 percent of what the federal government will spend in total this year, according to the latest estimate of fiscal year 2017 federal spending made by the Congressional Budget Office.

It also equals less than the Department of Health and Human Services spends in just twelve hours and less than the Treasury collects in taxes in four hours.

It is about time the GOP controlled House and Senate stood up and said by God we are the majority and we are building the damn wall.

Can't protect our borders? Yet certain WarmongersSenators want to go all out for Libya. The United States must be engaged so they say.

Senior lawmakers on Tuesday rejected President Donald Trump's declaration that the United States has "no role" in Libya, citing the threat of regional instability to U.S. national security interests.

Senate Foreign Relations Chairman Bob Corker (R., Tenn.) and ranking Democrat Ben Cardin (D., Md.) said Libya's ongoing battle over power and access to natural resources has created a permissive environment for extremist groups such as the Islamic State and al Qaeda.

So you see a drone flying. What do you?
1) Leave it alone
2) Shoot the damn thing

Before you answer, think carefully. Hint.

Just last month, a federal judge dismissed a lawsuit filed against William Merideth, the Kentucky man who shot down a drone that Merideth believed was flying over his own property in 2015.
However, the Federal Aviation Administration considers drones to be aircraft—and under federal law, shooting at aircraft is a crime.

Don't Bogart that joint.

The agency’s apparent solution was to swap in “pseudo marijuana” which looked and smelled like marijuana—even when burned. Reportedly, one high school bus driver took several sniffs before commenting that it smelled “just like the back of my bus.”

The CIA was apparently pleased with the results, with eight out of every 10 visitors to the booth smelling the ersatz pot. It was such a big hit that they quickly received five requests to use the display at “other gatherings.”

April 26, 1994, Grace Slick pleaded guilty to pointing a shotgun at police in her California home. She claimed she was under stress because her home had burned down the previous year. No shit Sherlock, Former Obama official cops to manipulating climate data.

A former member of the Obama administration claims Washington D.C. often uses “misleading” news releases about climate data to influence public opinion.

Former Energy Department Undersecretary Steven Koonin told The Wall Street Journal Monday that bureaucrats within former President Barack Obama’s administration spun scientific data to manipulate public opinion.

Do you have traveling on your mind? It's one thing to go to a 3rd world country. It's another thing to go to a 4th world hell whole.

Last year, Otto Warmbier, then a 21-year-old University of Virginia student from Cincinnati, was sentenced to 15 years of hard labour after confessing to trying to steal a propaganda banner.

He had been on a guided tour with a travel company but was detained on 2 January 2016 at Pyongyang airport while trying to leave the country. In announcing his arrest, the state news media said Warmbier had visited North Korea with the intent of “bringing down the foundation of its single-minded unity”.

A guided tour of North Korea? What’s the name of the company: Gulags are us?

So ... "aircraft" doesn't include having the ability to carry people ... or even midgets. A cat couldn't even fit on most "drones".

Were they legal "aircraft" back when they were just RC airplanes?

25 I do not think the invention of artificial wombs is a positive step at all. Because of other artificial technologies like IVF, children can already be born without a legal father. This invention will allow children to be created who do not legally have a mother either. While progressives who believe children belong to the state might be happy with being able to do away with both of those pesky parents, I can see only disaster in removing the necessity of the having parents, and the God-given protection they provide, from vulnerable children.

I was never scared of them, they always had a big cheerful smile. Every year for Halloween I was a skeleton. When I hit my forties I decided to get a plastic one, not the Halloween kind but a perfect reproduction in plastic, life-size, of a human skeleton. Best thing I ever blew money on, a couple hundred bucks. I put a Santa hat and Christmas lights on him every year. A couple of times he substituted for a Xmas tree.

160 I read an article in the WSJ today which said that a lot of French voters are planning to abstain from voting in the runoff. They include both leftists and conservatives.

Normally in a situation like this, all the parties encourage their supporters to vote for Macron in order to defeat LePen. But the far left doesn't like the "centrist" Macron, and the conservatives don't like the "far right" LePen.

One abstaining voter said that he expects Macron to win by a landslide, but would prefer that it be close so that Macron doesn't think he has a mandate.

This could get interesting. I suspect that LePen's supporters don't plan to abstain.

No. The First World was the "developed world," i.e., Europe, America, and Japan, in short more or less capitalist and therefore wealthy countries.

The Second World was socialist/Communist, i.e., the USSR and its satellites (which at the time included the PRC).

The Third World was everywhere else, which comprised the submerging emerging nations, which were generally broke, and made what little foreign exchange they could from selling natural resources and/or tourism.

My definition: a Third World country is one where everyone drives down the middle of the fucking road with his hand on the horn all the time.

Mercedes-Benz is a 100+ y/o company.

AMG started, Fifty Years Ago, as an independent "Tuning & Performance" shop, specializing in souping up the engines, suspensions and later, aerodynamics, on various Benz platforms.

The got so good at it, becoming a worldwide success, that Mercedes began to support them with R&D, showroom sales support and such.

And then, Mercedes just flat bought the entire AMG concern, bring it fully in house as a separate internal entity. It still does the same job, but now the profits stay within Mercedes-Benz.

Not quite. You use the red-hot pin to burn a hole through the nail. There are no nerve endings in the nail, nor in the bubble of blood that lies beneath it to make it blue. There is no pain. And as soon as the blood hits the hot nail, it quenches it, so if you push too far, and touch the nail bed, where there are nerve endings, the pin is no longer red hot.

It really works well. Had it done to me, and have since done it for myself. Instant relief of the throbbing pain. Instant.

344 If the toenail is blue and the pain is intense, you'll want to relieve the pressure. Trust Me. Heat the business end of a safety pin red hot in a match flame. Let it cool. Then punch or drill, more or less, a hole in the nail, it will bleed, and your toe will feel and heal much better.
--

Thank you Common Tater and In Vino Veritits.

I'm bruised in the area between the joint and the toenail. The toenail itself is fine. Plus... it was a small crowbar, and it only fell a short distance-not even a foot. A few years ago, I dropped a can of vegetables from shelf height and that landed on my toe. That was super unpleasant.

Sigh.

I either need a plastic bubble to keep from injuring myself or a really large income to contract this crap out.

If you have smashed a finger or toe badly enough that the nail turns black or blue, you are going to lose the nail, sooner or later, because blood has separated the nail from the nail bed that supports it. The nail bed will eventually grow a new nail. So you do the pin trick to relieve the pain in the meantime.

If the nail has not turned color, don't do the pin trick.

There is something weird going on there with that Macron guy. I was reading about the "Hot For Teacher" thing, indeed just like any of the similar things that seem to happen all the time now, and, besides that, there's something else not right there.

All those hot-for-teacher things take me back to high school. 10th grade algebra teacher. Hot as hell. Smoking. She always wondered why some of us boys, who could get in so much trouble with the other teachers, were so well-behaved in her class.

She'd sit on her desk in front of the class sometimes. She never wore skirts that were slutty short, but they were short enough that you could see the beginning. Sort of a tease when she sat down just so sometimes.

My greatest fear was that she'd call on me and make stand up when my imagination had been thus provoked.

I have never been a big rosary prayer. But I was pretty sick the last three years -- lots of drs, hospitals, needles and endless scans, scans, scans. Early on I was waiting for some scans and needed to be mentally elsewhere. I started saying the rosary, using my fingers to keep track. Not perfect, but offered. I do it all the time now if I am waiting or stressed or just whenever. Calming. And,of course, I believe it helped with the healing.50 rounds for each year lived. WOW, 50 x 29 !

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation-now/2017/04/26/ disturbing-sex-trend-called-stealthing-rise/100921352/

Quote from the shameless "news story" that does nothing but repeat unverified claims from activists:

"A disturbing new bedroom trend involves men secretly taking off their condoms during consensual sex, and sometimes later bragging about it online.

The nonconsensual practice, which is called "stealthing," is on the rise, according to a new report in Columbia Journal of Gender and Law.

Lead author Alexandra Brodsky said while the law is largely silent on the practice of "stealthing," she believes it should be considered a form of sexual assault and could violate several civil and criminal laws.

...

The study also pointed to online forums where men often brag about removing a condom during sex or offer advice on how to get away with it. Some of the men in the forum have even suggested it's their right to, "spread one's seed"."

Uh-huh. Because every man wants to have to pay child support to every bimbo for 18 years after every sex act.

Then one day, bop bop bop!

She's banging / tapping her bottle on the crib.

So I take the bottle and ask her, "more milk?" and she nods yes.

Down to the kitchen, clean bottle, refill, take it back upstairs and hand it to her.

She takes the bottle and looks up at me and says, "Good girl! GOOD GIRL!" and pops the bottle in her mouth.

I barely made it out the door before I just lost it.

Called the hubby and said, " Well, we can quit worrying. I think she has this language thing all figured out."

But you'd think with so many Congresscritters willing to cough up dollars in far away places for national security that they could attend to coughing up a few pesos in comparison to safeguard us at our own borders. Failure to secure the border (which includes building a secure "wall") a national security concern ,

We should argue national security. We should also stop calling it a wall. It is so much more than that, from what I hear. Anyway, 2 cents. Frustrating.

Perhaps having the entire family on Obamacare for one year and 6 months service at the border should be a basic requirement for anyone who runs for Congress.

Family lore has it that my oldest sister didn't talk. Not for a long time. But then, one day, mom gave her a glass of milk in the high chair, which she promptly dropped off the edge and splattered everywhere. She looked over the edge of the tray and said, clear as a bell, "Damn. Spilled."

When will dictators surrounded by sycophants ever learn? Don't talk trash to the US about using weapons of mass destruction. Or hurting California.

Let's ask Kaiser Wilhelm II, who wanted to give back to Mexico the land we paid for in the Treaty of Peace, Friendship, Limits and Settlement between the United States of America and the Mexican Republic (AKA Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo). Hmm, his kigdom's website seems to be down.

Let's page Adolph Hitler to the white courtesy phone. He declared war on the United States of America when no treaty required him to, and without consulting his government. Hmm, no one in his entire government will pick up a phone.

Let's ask Saddam Hussein, who bluffed the world about his military program. Hmm, can't seem to contact him. His iPhone number is out of service.

Next up, the leader of North Korea? He is the person killing North Koreans, without any outside help or intervention.

For example: "Mayor Bob Brown today, he said..." instead of "Mayor Bob Brown said..." or "...according to the defendants, they claim.." instead of "...the defendants claim..."

Or this snippet randomly snipped from Hannity's transcript from last night:

"...the propaganda-media, they are completely biased..."

artificial wombs is kind of problematic if you are pro-life. Are you

should be conceived but children conceived in an artificial womb from
implantation are unwelcome? Maybe you need to rethink that.

I don't think I do. Children are not and cannot be conceived naturally in an artificial womb so that analogy does not even work.

Children can only be placed in an artificial womb via artificial means. And just like IVF has been abused to bring children in situations that are not good for them, so artificial wombs will be. The potential for abuse is not theoretical since we already have seen who other conception technologies have been abused. I would say the potential for abuse here is even more breathtaking. Since culturally on the left and legally for all of us, babies have no legal right to their own lives, babies can and likely would be grown for parts.

Mayor Bob Brown today, he said, said he, he say..

Mayor Bob Brown today, he said, 'I know what it's like to be dead.'

And I agree with Tickled Pink. This day is going to suck the big one.

581 So the first one to make a stupid grammatical error....everyone else assumes

You did that on purpose, right? [Because] it's the same error. Good one.

Language is like engineering in one respect: even if it's wrong, it can be analyzed and mined for meaning. We are spoiled rotten by English, which allows for a lot of this "you know" school of grammar. You don't get away with that shit in, say, Latin.

This new construction is graceless yet purposeful. It puts a headline on your sentence, calling out the subject of interest before putting it to work. You could construe this as a "parenthetical," taking the place of "Are you familiar with Mayor Brown? Today, he said..." Set off by commas, perhaps a semi here or there, and you could even make it read "right." Bonus: grade-schoolers have talked like this for decades.

The user in these cases, professional fast talkers, sees it as efficient. Ugly? Comical? Hey man, Edwin Newman is dead.

582 @563 - Fort Sumter .... or Harpers Ferry.

@575 - "
Most of these idiots simply assume that anyone else in their field is actually smarter than they are."

As the abysmally edumacated yoots rise in the ranks this is becoming the driving force in most fields.

583 The trend towards unnecessary pronoun abuse is very similar to the birth of strange and previously unknown words found onboard Navy ships.

Usually there are very specific words and phrases which are used to announce specific events or situations.

But....the word "Electronical" seems to be firmly entrenched in the Navy's lexicon of nonexistent words.

585 Old maps had East at that top. To line up with the map, you "oriented."
Now you go to Orientation to get orientated.
I have a feeling that the Navy invented this, because in the days of The Old China Hands, a sailor who over-fraternized was said to have "gone Oriental." That superfluous syllable draws a distinction--"however slight."
