Decision Desk HQ's Coverage of GA-06

This is a special election to replace Tom Price, who joined the Trump Administration as HHS Secretary.

The Democrat, Dmitri "Funboy" Tossoff, has a huge warchest from massive donations from liberal interest groups, with almost all of his money coming from outside the district. That only makes sense, as Tossoff is from outside the district himself, though he claims he "grew up" in the district before moving in with his "girlfriend," he claims, to "support" her.

She lives a mile and a half outside the district but she needs him right there to "support" her or something.

His resume includes working for Hank "Guam Could Tip Over" Johnson and lying about his credentials so you can understand why he's gathered such passionate support from Vile Lunatics.

Meanwhile, there are 11 Republicans running so the Republican vote is massively split. (Tossoff has a couple of token Democrat competitors, whose only recommendation is that they actually bother to live in the district they'll be representing -- but none of them have all that sweet, sweet Daily Kos money.)

The big thing tonight is 1, hoping Tossoff doesn't get 50% of the vote (in which case he wins outright) and 2, seeing which Republican will face him in the run-off to follow.

If there's a run-off.

If this jackweed -- who looks like the stunt ass for Egg McMuffin in particularly brutal DA scene -- gets 50% plus one more vote on top of that, he just straight-up wins, and there's nothing we can do about it, except #Resist.

Decision Desk HQ will be covering the race. The polls closed at 7pm Georgia time, but I'm posting this later, because, well, what's the point of a ballot-counting thread before any ballots are counted?

I just know that whatever happens, Russia Did It.

Update: This is the DDHQ's link for results as they come in.

1. What is the registered count of votes available in GA06?

2. What is the expected turnout in GA06?

The DD currently report that Assoff leads at 71.3%, with 6,761 votes.

3. How likely is it that he can be disqualified, even if elected, as he does not live in GA06?

Anyway, the workers were very excited and the local reporter inside the factory said the crowd was pleased with what they heard from Trump. Why, he's a doctor! A DOCTOR! Did we mention he's a doctor?

The guy had that word attached to his name more frequently than "Doctor" Jill Biden did when Joe was referring to her.

If Ossoff has 38.5K of 66.5K, and 325K is the number .... he needs the following ...

(325 / 2) - 38.5 = 124
124 / (325 - 66.5) = 48%

So - it's all about turnout. 325K turnout makes this a race.

370 I live in Cobb County, just a stone's throw from the 6th District. Here are my observations from this campaign. I'll also tell you why I'm not worried if Ossoff wins.

There are Ossoff yard signs everywhere. I've seen more Ossoff signs than Hillary signs last year. That's not an exaggeration.

Ossoff is also running radio spots everywhere - even during the Rush Limbaugh Show.

When I did hear GOP candidate ads, they weren't attacking Ossoff--they were attacking each other. Only in the last few weeks have I heard anti-Ossoff spots..but they weren't put out by any candidate, but by a GOP-lead PAC.

Ossoff doesn't come across as a lefty in his spots. In fact, he sounds like, for the most part, a small government conservative. His big thing is talking about eliminating wasteful spending and working with anyone in DC to do so. And he has no record. He's never raised anyone's taxes. He's never voted against a defense budget. It's the classic Blue Dog Strategy. But what happened to the Blue Dogs once they had a record to run on?

That's why I'm not worried, even if he wins.

I will say that in 2020, Trump is going to have to treat Georgia as a swing state. He's going to have to spend more time here campaigning. The Atlanta suburbs are turning blue. Assholes from the North are fleeing the high-taxed Blue States and voting for the same policies that drove them out.

While I have a few regrets about moving away, they aren't many and the reasons I left have only gotten worse according to a few friends that still live there.

Posted by: Meremortal, weight weight at April 18, 2017 10:35 PM (3myMJ)

480 Earlier:

David Wasserman

Rule of thumb: to be on track to hit 50% and *avoid* a runoff, Ossoff probably needs around 62% in DeKalb, 51% in Fulton, 45% in Cobb. #GA06

--------------------------
According to Wasserman, Ossoff is short what he needs to avoid a runoff.

Cobb 100% in - 41.3%
DeKalb 100% in - 58.6%
Fulton 16% in - 55.3%

484 The remaining part of North Fulton is pretty Republican. You can see the remaining partial precincts here.

Cities are Sandy Springs, Alpharetta, Roswell, Peachtree Corners, Dunwoody. 19/116 precincts reporting out of Fulton.

http://results.enr.clarityelections.com/GA/Fulton/67378/Web02/#/rpt

If past voting history is the guide, then runoff appears likely. BTW, Ossof got about 43 percent in Cobb and about 58-9 in DeKalb.

Digging into the precinct data during a break in the count, agree w/ others Ossoff (D) on track to end up around 48%. #GA06

When you add it all up, total GOP vote in #GA06 could end up 1-2% ahead of total Dem vote, basically same as '16 presidential margin.

497 Cobb and Dekalb have completely reported. Its all on North Fulton.
BTW, Handel used to represent this part of the County when she was on the County Commission years ago. Not sure if that helps or hurts her.

500 From Nate Cohn (for what it's worth):

About 55,000 votes left to be counted...and it is expected that
Tossoff will only get about 45% of that. He needs more than that (about
49%) to clear the 50% +1 hurdle.
Posted by: IrishEi at April 18, 2017 11:03 PM (HiDrR)

Posted by: andycanuck at April 18, 2017 11:10 PM (nlbfN)

501 Turnout about 44.6% for DeKalb , 47.5% Cobb, 58.5 percent for Ossof in DeKalb and 41.26 in Cobb. My guess is that if heavy voting was happening in N. Fulton and the polls stayed open later, then Fulton will be late in reporting tonight. Atlanta Journal Constitution, mentions a runoff as well.

Posted by: whig at April 18, 2017 11:11 PM (AH98f)

502 Cobb had the four voting machines stolen. Happened in a Kroger parking lot and there is video of the perp.
