LOfrickin'L: House Democrat Offers Bill to Amend Removal-of-President-Due-to-Infirmity Procedure by Proposing Obama and Biden Would Get to Vote on Trump's Fitness

Not just Obama and Biden -- also Bill Clinton and Al Gore. And also, George Bush (who probably hates Trump) and Dick Cheney (who probably isn't a fan either).

The 25th Amendment -- which governs removal of presidents due to infirmity -- says that cabinet members take a vote, and then Congress has to approve their judgment.

That's too much for this Democrat. After all, Trump could just fire his cabinet, couldn't he?

So he has the great idea that former presidents and vice presidents would form an August Body what would get to vote Trump out of office.

A House Democrat has introduced legislation to enhance the Constitution's presidential removal procedures in response to concerns about President Trump's behavior.

Not the neutral word "change." No, the positive, we're-making-progress word "enhance."

Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D-Ore.) filed the bill during the House's two-week April recess to empower former presidents and vice presidents of both parties, in coordination with the sitting vice president, to determine if a president is fit for office.

"It is hard to imagine a better group to work with the vice president to examine whether the president is able to discharge the duties of the office. When there are questions about the president's ability to fulfill his or her constitutional responsibilities, it is in the country's best interest to have a mechanism in place that works effectively," Blumenauer said in a statement.

It's in the country's best interest that you shut your dick-shaped mouth, tool.

What we really need is something more akin to the old boyars system they had in Russia, where the aristocrats, when the czar got too uppity, or was crazy, or was some silly kid, could simply "vote" to remove the czar, and put a more pliable fella in place.

It has gone full out radical left ideologues. They are the ones being elected as Democrats in certain districts full of the same left ideologues.

They love Sharia law because it exemplifies the same immovable dictates of the left's ideas of power and absolutism.

And he added during a discussion with a caller as to where the Dems are going to get their leadership from as they have a full out dependent class as their base, who are followers , not leaders and he simply pointed out that the university system is now the factory for Dem. leftist leaders.

147 Blumenauer's full remarks:

"Mr. Speaker, like many people, I have noticed a renewed interest in the 25th Amendment as we have seen erratic behavior out of the White House. As I examined the Amendment, it became clear that in the case of mental or emotional incapacity, there is a glaring flaw. In the absence of Congressional action, the constitutional language depends on actions by the Cabinet. Because the Cabinet can be fired by the President, there is a natural bias that would make them reluctant to acknowledge the President's inability to serve. It's time to revisit and strengthen the Amendment and make sure there is a reliable mechanism in place if the President becomes unable to discharge the powers and duties of office.

"The 25th Amendment was adopted 50 years ago in the wake of President Kennedy's assassination. It provides a mechanism for the succession of the President for his or her replacement in the event he or she proves unfit to serve. Under the Amendment, the Vice President and a majority of either the Cabinet or some 'other body'' designated by Congress, may remove the President from office.

While the language is straightforward, it raises a host of questions. This ``other body,'' rather than the principal officers of the executive branch, is undefined and there is no guidance for how it should operate. This legislation determines the body would consist of the Vice President, advised by a majority of the living former Presidents and Vice-Presidents. These people have been President, or in the line of succession and understand the pressures of the office and the responsibilities the Presidency entails. They are of both parties, experienced, and well regarded by the American public. It is hard to imagine a better group to work with the Vice President to examine whether the President is able to discharge the duties of the office. When there are questions about the President's ability to fulfill his or her constitutional responsibilities, it is in the country's best interest to have a mechanism in place that works effectively."

A bill can be submitted by any congressmember. All it needs is a sponsor, which is the member who submits it. They normally try to get cosponsors to make it look like it has support.

It is submitted and then get assigned a number and is put on a committee schedule. Where most of these bill die a rightful death.

It will not go anywhere other than the circular file.

But as someone pointed out above, this clown's well paid staff has spent thousands of dollars of time writing the framework of this stupidity, and even worse, had legal staff write in the big words.

"Hi,
I'm a little worried that your proposed alteration to the 25th Amendment doesn't go far enough. A panel of ex-presidents and ex-vice presidents sounds like a good idea on paper, but what if some of them are Republicans? They might not vote to impeach a sitting, duly-elected Republican president, and the thought of how that would make you all Pouty McSadface just breaks my heart. Wouldn't it be better to entrust impeachment solely to the candidate who was soundly beaten, provided that she is a Democrat in good standing? Or a panel of Sally Kohn, Maxine Waters, and the hosts of "The View"? Leaving it up to ex-presidents exposes us to the grim possibility that a president who is unfit, incapable, or, perish the thought, Republican, might not be impeached and replaced with the right kind of person.

Hope you give some thought to stepping it up a little to spare us the horror of a president that you, renowned Congressman Blumenauer, might have some disagreements with. Thanks!"

Why is it that "their" side can always unite and rally against the enemy, but every election for us feels like a circular firing squad?
***
Because leftists are strictly hierarchical. It is therefore a risk to push an issue with a stronger foe in the party as they will destroy you. Better to come to an agreement - look at Bernie and Hillary, and how Bernie suddenly could afford a nice new house after agreeing to not fight Hillary over her stoeln Dem nomination as a stellar example...

Republicans on the other hand are split into many real factions.

The GOPe is hierarchical, and while they have a ton of money, they have few voters and few activists.

The nationalists, the religious right, and the working class (which have overlap) don't have the time to build a hierarchy - they have jobs and families. They have a lot of voters, but not much money either. They will work together....sometimes. When they can find a leader that won't piss off one of the three groups. Which is surprisingly rare.

Then you have the libertarians. They have activists and money, though few voters. In theory they could unite everyone else, but they tend to hate other members of the Republican party more then Democrats - even when they agree with them on most issues* and tend to react emotionally instead of logically.

*The irony is that if someone "extreme" like a Santorum, cloned him several hundred times and got him elected to every office in the land, you'd still have a more libertarian nation then you currently have. Realistically, every non-leftist should be voting for the "farthest right" candidate they can as it will take decades of hard work to have to worry about right leaning authoritarianism.

278 I'm still LOLing about the revelation that the Berkeley Police Department, on its own Website, officially instructs left-wing protesters to specify how many "symbolic arrests" they request:

http://www.ci.berkeley.ca.us/police/home/protest_101/event_checklist.aspx

"Contact the Police Department and Provide:

Purpose of protest
Date(s) and time of event
Location(s)
Route of march, if planned
Estimated attendance
Organizing person or group
Number of organizers
How to identify and contact organizers/monitors at the event (hats, shirts, armbands)
What will they be wearing?
Will they have mobile phones?
Do you want symbolic arrests?
If so, where and when?
"

Naive people have been asking today, "Why in the world would protesters want to request their own arrests?" And the answer of course is that in the left-wing moral universe, your street cred is greatly increased if you get arrested by the pigs during a righteous protest! The downside is that then you have to go to jail.

The Berkeley Police have kindly provided a solution: They will actually "symbolically" arrest you and however many protesters you specify, so all your fellow leftist and all the media can cheer you for being such a righteous rebel. AND THEN, off camera, the cops just let you go.

I think this is the cops' way of "keeping the protesters happy."

And yes, this is real, not some sort of hoax. Check out the link yourself to the actual BPD site!

The polls I saw had Trump winning Florida, and he did

The national polls had Hillary winning, and she did.

Fortunately it was not a national election but state by state.

Rasmussen was pretty dead on in their polling.

A big part of the problem was the big media outlets were just so invested in the idea it was going to be a blowout, they didn't really base that on the polling.

I think there's 3 big problems with modern polling

1) Our culture has become so crazy with the PC nonsense that many conservatives have decided not to answer pollsters or lie to them

2) The big media outlets that pay the pollsters have made them model them in a way that makes a best case scenario for Democrats because they are invested in that storyline

3) Landlines are largely gone

I know a lot of conservatives feel that way, but I think it "hurts" our cause because elected Republicans look at polls and if they think the public doesn't back these issues, they fold.

So when they see nonsense like ObamaCare being "popular" they decide not to actually repeal it.

Or if Trump has "low" approval ratings, they think its wise to flee a sinking ship.

We have to stop being intimidated, if we can't tell pollsters how we actually feel, what sort of political movement is this?

On their door they cited reasons such as "devaluation of feminine discourse", "queer antagonism", "gentrification" and "transmisogyny."

The sign below that sign was precious. "Widely held perceptions of successful employment, education, marriage, and family have white supremacist patriarchal roots, when you purportedly fail in these institutions, you are resisting oppression you are a warrior."

Apparently they were also over $20K in the hole, yikes. So when you fail at running a viable store you are resisting oppression fro the man? Lefty victory!

435 Rep.

437 Three people are dead in a shooting spree in downtown Fresno on Tuesday, and the suspect was wanted in connection to the Motel 6 killing last week, the Fresno Police Department said.

Kori Ali Muhammad, 39, shouted Allahu Akbar as police tackled him to the ground after the shootings which were spread over four locations, Police Chief Jerry Dyer said.

At least three of the victims were white, Dyer said.

Dyer said Muhammad had expressed hatred toward white people and the government.

442 "My memory was that they had Hillary up by big margins and then lowered the margins the closer it got to the election."

During October the MSM polls were absolutely skewed to make Hillary look inevitable. And Pussygate was used to make Trump unelectable.

I'm convinced that Hillaryland believed their own bullshit which is why they dropped the ball so much in the last month.

In retrospect, Hillary mistakes the Russian Wikileaks and Comey for drving up Trump's numbers when a lot of it was just the polls getting trued up near the end.

Most polls still showed Hilary winning because of their flawed turnout assumptions

447 Dude it was only a few months ago, if you're going to rewrite history go back a few years at least. The polling consistently had Hillary winning, sometimes by as much as FIFTEEN POINTS. Everyone knew, just knew Hillary had a lock and there was no "electoral collage" path to the white house based on the polls.

They're crap, for all the reasons you give, and many others. Relying on them -- positive or not -- for anything is like astrology and tea leaves. They can be right, by coincidence.
Posted by: Christopher R Taylor
________

Look at the polling averages before and after.

RealClearPolitics just aggregates the polls had Hillary "winning" nationally by 3.3%
Her total ended up being 2.1% in the popular vote.

The polls were off like 3-4% depending on the state, which is right about the margin of error for most.

I'm not going to live and die by polls, but I'm not going to dismiss them all out of hand either.

People have built this narrative that the polls had Hillary winning by 15 points and then Trump won some Reagan landslide.

The truth is, some undecided voters broke in key Rust Belt states and he squeaked a victory.

My MO now is I basically give the Republican 5 percentage points and then I feel its' probably a more accurate reading.

If you read closely Nate Silver's hilarious look it 1 or 2 people out of 100 had voted the other way, I would have been totally right! post, it's actually an interesting discussion of polling methodology and cognitive bias and why it was the all the polls that were within margin of error were given to Hillary.

No, it was actually a huge outlier in that it had Trump winning the popular vote over Hillary.

But it was "right" in that it said he was going to win.

Supposedly Rasmussen was the most accurate, which is why people started getting worried when they were showing low support for Trump over the last few weeks, but now there's a bounce

Matt Drudge was on Savage's radio show and he was saying he felt Rasmussen was a legit polling outfit that wasn't skewing things for a political agenda and that people should take their numbers seriously.

486 Too many polls relied on 2012 turnout assumptions and missed that white non-college turnout would be up a lot, would go for Trump, and could and would make the difference in swing states.

One major network (I forget which) did additional polling on turnout but disregarded it because the results were "too old and too white" -- their words.

I followed this closely during the race. Trump had a worse October because of Pussygate, which caused some of his support to soften, but they mostly came back at the end. But it's part of the reason why he lost the popular vote by 2 to 3%

Last word was that some of the machines that poll workers use to confirm ballots or voters were stolen from a vehicle in a Kroger parking lot and the theft wasn't reported for at least two days. LaTimes was damn good. Every time he f_cked up, he dropped. Everytime she dropped, she dropped.

But the last time she dropped, she never recovered.

It was a damn good poll. But I had the ability to 'adjust' every other poll by 'generally accepted accounting standards' (or such) and knew it was no shoe-in for her.

Four days before the election I took laptop into bathroom and showed wife LaTimes poll and stated, "He has it."

The hard left is increasingly seeking to define the acceptable bounds of thought as exclusive to the hard left. The "Trump must be insane" camp reflects the complete Sovietization of this ideal: to the effect that he who denies the manifest goodness and truth of their ideology must, by definition, be insane.
