Hey Hey, Ho Ho, Western Civ Has Got To Go!

Angela Davis, or NBC Sports?

NBC Sportswriter Condemns American Flag, Military Flyovers as Symbols of Oppression

In summation: according to Calcaterra, honoring a country built on the very idea of allowing him to question his leaders, and honoring the men and women in the military who fight and die so he can enjoy that freedom, somehow invades his precious safe space and makes him feel all oppressed n' stuff.

Because nothing clears the system like screaming at cheese.

Gee, the beginning of lefty Ken Burns' documentary on baseball starts with the National Anthem. Presumably if he made it now, he'd omit that to avoid triggering his fellow Commies.

Yeah, Koreans and Hispanics and Japanese play the game now. It was still born and developed in this country (took an old English game and made it better) and is as American as apple pie, mom and Babe Ruth. So suck it, lefties.

Did I ever tell the story about the year my mom stocked up on Cadbury's Eggs? My brother and I couldn't eat them for at least a few years after.

Because A) yeah, we overindulged and got tired of them, a little, and 2) they don't last forever, and the cream gets less creamy and not as good.

The mini Reese's cups are the devil.

They're good and all, but they were never a craving/gorge-myself type of candy for me.

Anyway, I guess tastes change, and stuff you found merely "tasty" later become "super-serious addictions requiring medical intervention."

Posted by: grammie winger - alleluia! at April 17, 2017 02:04 PM (lwiT4)

I haven't been low carb for that long - only a little over a month, but I felt sick yesterday after eating a slice of cheesecake.

I've made an effort to stop with sweeteners. I used to put 2 packs of Splenda in my coffee but I realized that was probably doing nothing to curb my sweet tooth and neither was eating Weight Watchers desserts anything else sweet. So when I had something sweet after a month - it made me feel nauseous.

I do have a problem with it. I think it cheapens the anthem. I appreciate that there are times it's performed with love and respect, but it's also seen as a time for vocal and personal showboating.

I'd prefer God Bless America for games and the Anthem for more serious venues.

YMMV.

I'm still holding out hope for that myself. They can't be liking all the attention--and carriers--in their front yard. At what point does China finally decide Kim is more trouble than he's worth?
I think China is delaying the inevitable in an attempt to extract some promise from Trump. They want something.

Serious question to the currently serving: what is the drone complement of a carrier/warship?

Is that included as part of the aviation wing?

If it's classified and you have to kill me if you tell me that's fine. I need the rest.

Until PDT announces that a nuclear attack of any sort from NorkLand is to be considered the same as an attack from China, the ChiComs are going to shrug their shoulders at NorkLand.

Proxy war. I said it.

Now is the time to start changing it then. Won't get a better opportunity. Start writing to the prez. Or perhaps Mattis. Start congressional enquiries. This country is going to need a large, ready military soon I feel.

255 The interesting thing about 'half-life'? Yeah, it's no less deadly when it's expended one half-life. It has a lot of half-lives.

Posted by: E Depluribus Unum at April 17, 2017 02:29 PM (HTdUD)

The deadliest radionuclides are those with relatively short half-lives, because they radiate furiously in order to consume themselves so quickly.

There are fixed and rotary-wing drones under development/in trials, but AFAIK they aren't deployed at this time. I got out in 2006 and was never surface/aviation, so take that for what it's worth...

Really? I was looking into the longest lasting radioactive substances recently with downright scary half-lives that go half a century before they're *possibly* half done.

Above ground rad counts inconsistent with anything possibly resembling *normal* life for a hundred plus years. Gamma level stuff.

Perhaps we're talking about two different things.

Ok. I see. There are fast emitters. Also, slow emitters with half-lives longer that the universe has been around. Pretty benign they are.

Then there are the the ones with a 'sweet spot' that would be exceptionally good at ruining someones day, week, year, decade, and half century.
