Of more interest to me is the way Vermeer focuses the viewers' attention. The faces are clearly shown. But the brilliant color and detail is in the externals: the red of thee soldier's jacket, the yellow of the whore's coat, the blanket or rug covering her lower body and her crisp white head covering, and that blazing blue decanter. The act of paying a hooker ( a common enough situation) for her favors is less important than the details of the scene.

Davis was driving a Ford Explorer when she collided with a Chevy Traverse at North 92nd Street and West Capitol Drive, injuring a woman and her son who were in the vehicle.
She then drove off at a high rate of speed, ran a red light and struck a van at North 92nd Street and West Lisbon Avenue. She continued to flee before striking Daniel, who was in a crosswalk walking north across Lisbon on the west side of the street.
A man who followed Davis from the first crash said Daniel became trapped under the vehicle when it came to a rest on a sidewalk and that Davis drove back-and-forth four or five times in an attempt to dislodge her and flee the scene.
The man then grabbed the front bumper to try to stop Davis while another man tried to break her driver's side window. Another man who ran up to the SUV told Davis that someone was trapped under the vehicle, but Davis just yelled back at him and continued going back-and-forth.
The second man then grabbed a concrete block and placed it under a tire to prevent the vehicle from moving before Davis exited, lit a cigarette and started making a call on her cellphone as she walked away, according to the complaint.
She was still walking when police arrived and was arrested after witnesses pointed her out.

Yes. This way you are asking fewer people to work on Easter Sunday. The egg roll requires a lot of people at the WH for security reasons and to conduct all the games the kids play. The kids who have been invited, etc. and have to be there early for a long wait through security, etc. are not being asked, along with their family , to forego family celebrations and church.
And this way, the first family can enjoy their Easter also, at the location of the choosing.

Then complain via the account service. Something is not set on your account to the drivers, and they are doing what they are instructed because your personal instructions are missing.
We have both UPS and Fed Ex and have had zero issues with deliveries. The drivers aren't deciding to not leave your items because they are assholes, it's likely that FedEx has a liability policy that unless they have verified instructions from you to leave items that don't require signatures, they are obligated to return the package per the senders instructions. Check with whoever sent the package, it may not need a signature legally (because it's alcohol, or ammunition, etc.) but they might be requiring FedEx to obtain a signature to record the delivery, so you don't go back on them and say you never got it.

I will say this though. Amazon and Walmart are miserly with tape. Their boxes are forever opening up and we have to re-tape their shit.
Amazon drivers are stupid and overworked. They have no idea where they are going. And fed Ex is getting like that. They are just throwing newbies out on the road with minimal training....

I don't have an account or anything and UPS and FedEx both leave packages at the front door. They even put them in plastic if it's raining (though the front door is under an awning).
I've had no problems with UPS or FedEx but almost every package that came through USPS was opened. Pretty much every single one. It used to be that postal employees were staring at federal charges for opening mail ...

Almost all my orders for Amazon are arriving by USPS now. I believe they are the end deliverer of many smaller packages. The poor postman now has to work harder to handle all those packages in the back of his mail truck. Not sure if this is true everywhere.

My understanding is that with the surge in online shopping and subsequent huge need for additional delivery sevice, places like Amazon are using one carrier to start the delivery, and then that carrier(UPS or FedEx) delivers the package to a USPS facility who then continues it on it's delivery.
I find that means it takes a day or two longer to get Amazon items when Amazon itself is fulfilling the request. If its an Amazon vendor sending the item directly, it's usually quicker.
I've had items delivered from Europe and India on DHL that have only taken five days to get here....which was amazing to me.

and, of course, said item is stolen.
Apparently, they don't leave "tried to deliver notes" and come back the next day.

I was feeling fairly excited about it, but when I got there I was asked one question (do you have any experience in school accounting) and of course the answer was no. So that's two strikes against me now that I know of right off the bat. So not feeling real encouraged right now.
Plus it was an hour each way to get there, but that was part of the appeal - out in the country. But it's out of my hands now.
Need some sleep, but I think I'll wait 'til the Chinese buffet opens first.

It's in the side bar. Some waste of DNA in Cleveland shot a guy and killed him while streaming said murder on FB Live. Murder Boy Who Has A Tiny Dick And Is Wasting Oxygen claimed he had already killed 14 other people and that he was going to go around killing people at random until he was caught.
In this case, I'm totally fine with those who are looking for him going all Judge Dredd and taking him out. I just hope he doesn't do suicide by cop and take cops with him.

As our UPS Driver is a good friend, during the Christmas holidays I hire on as his Driver Helper, and spend about six weeks in the jump seat.
As about half the route is Town Homes with narrow one way streets with packages going to almost two out of every five homes, we have often discussed the golf cart option.

It's long ago and far away...but, if I remember correctly-
the show took a real dive in quality when David Lynch left (or was kicked out) during the 2nd season.
Coherent surrealistic quirkiness is tough to do.
Who knew?
I seem to remember that "Twin Peaks" became "The Log Lady Hour" for several episodes.
She being the least interesting character in the history of fiction.
But, the quality picks back up towards the end cuz they brought Lynch back.
I guess I need to rewatch since TP is returning.

It's not geeky in that sense but it is a fantastic show if, and this is the key, if you like the fact that when you watch a David Lynch work you just accept that the story makes clear logical sense to him and to no one else ever in the history of ever. There's stuff that makes no sense and is never explained and never will be and you have to roll with it.
The end of the second season is still one of my favorite of any shows.

The way amazon packs shit these days I don't think that anyone is watching for quality work at the fulfillment centers. It's been amazing how crappily amazon has been packing stuff for the past year. It's as if they go out of their way to do the worst job they are able to do.

I think one of the moron's husband just started working at a fulfillment center and is physically beat and exhausted at the end of his shift. I think he is required to send out 650 "units" per hour....which seems insane.

When I started training, one of the mental blocks I had to overcome was just that. I didn't have to be told to draw down on a big guy running at me, but I had a hard time when it was a scrawny pajama-boy or a woman doing the same thing. Instructor had to put it pretty plainly to me, that threats can come from anywhere.

I don't disagree. Unless it is 100% AMAZON ,packaging is the responsibility of the AMZ "sellers". AMZ is responsible for the outside, cardboard type packaging we are familiar with. Look at the sold by and fulfilled by information.
Packaging affects profit, so many sellers go lightweight and simple .

As an OSU alum, I'm very biased, but this is truly a feel good story.
Saturday was the annual Spring scrimmage game at OSU. Attendance was sold out, with proceeds going to the James Cancer hospital at OSU/Urban and Shelley Meyer Cancer Foundation.
There is a young teenager , Jacob Jarvis who was "adopted" by the OSU football team several years ago. Jacob has muscular dystrophy and is confined to a motorized wheelchair. He has been in the locker room at various high profile games, the OSU coaching staff has donated flights and hotels , game tickets for Jacob and family to attend OSU 2014 championship game, etc.
Last week, two upperclassmen players asked Urban if they could have Jacob line up on the field and 'run" a touchdown at the end of the spring scrimmage. They figured it out and Jacob had his dream come true(he had said in the past he will always be sad that he can't play football or other sports) when he scored a touchdown after rolling through the Gray defense.

A lot of the more esoteric stuff (electronics components, hobby gear) actually comes from smaller vendors, with Amazon as the retail front-end, so some of it may have actually come from Joe's Diode Shop via Amazon. It's hard to know who actually packed and shipped it.
My parents live in Indianapolis, which is an Amazon hub, so the free 2 day Prime shipping often means they get it the next day.
