Democratic Congressman: Maybe Trump and Putin Colluded on a Kabuki Conflict to Cover Up Their Actual Collusion in the US Election
One thing that the media continues doing is seeking out the allegedly "neutral story line" (don't comment on old posts!), a storyline which is supposedly non-partisan but which is only deployed in a partisan manner.
Suppose you agree that, in general, "Fake News" is bad and people spreading unfounded and often unbelievable conspiracy theories is likewise bad. You might agree with the media when it makes that basic claim. You might say that this claim, taken in and of itself, is nonpartisan. Neither party formally stands in favor of conspiracy theories and "fake news." Both are officially against such things. The media likes deploying such "neutral" criteria as a method of indicting Republicans precisely because, by their own terms, the criteria are not partisan in nature. But the media employs them in a very, very partisan way by only trotting out these alleged neutral criteria for criticism when the target they seek to undermine is conservative or Republican. This is why you heard an awful lot about alleged conservative-manufactured "fake news" -- but no one in the media would correct Democrats when they pushed their own "fake news" that the "election was hacked" (suggesting manipulation of vote totals -- something that 50% of Democrats actually believe happened). Not only did the media not correct or chastise Democrats for constantly claiming "the election was hacked," the media itself deployed that phrase hundreds and hundreds of times. Fake news is bad -- that's a non-partisan sounding claim. But when the media can only find fault with Republican-branded fake news, while pushing its own progressive-branded fake news, then obviously the "neutral" storyline isn't so neutral. In law, we'd say it's facially neutral, but discriminatory as applied. The media has no criticism of Democrat Congressman Seth Moulton's unhinged Syrian Strike Trutherism-- he suggests, in a "just askin' questions" sort of plausible deniability way, that Trump colluded with Putin to pretend a disagreement over the Syria strike in order to distract from their earlier collusion over the election. As he puts it, the strike "could very well be interpreted as an attempt by the administration to get out from under the claim that they're colluding with Russia." He nuttered on:"It seems like there’s a lot of evidence that members of this administration that are more concerned with Russia's goals than our own."When Tucker Carlson pointed out that attacking a key Russian ally/client state tended to undermine the "Trump's acting as a Moscovian Candidate for Putin," Moultin doubled down:
"Well, first of all, I mean, you know, one exception does not prove the rule. I mean, you know, this could very well be interpreted as an attempt by the administration to get out from under the claim that they're colluding with Russia. But the bottom line is, that you know, we don't really know. There are a lot of things that Trump has that seem like they're to be playing right into the hands of Putin. We ought to just find out, Tucker, and I think you and I ought to be able to agree on that."AllahPundit has more, noting that this bog-stink from the fever swamps was pushed by a member of the media (I guess), Lawrence O'Donnell, and has now made it to the mouth of an elected official in less than a week. Apart from Tucker Carlson, who obviously is not regular-media media, I don't hear much tut-tutting about the Climate of Hate Moulton is helping create with this Fake News Conspiracy Theories. Yeah, it was "hacked", or more accurately "hijacked" in the same manner they've been doing it for decades: Fake voter registrations so people can vote multiple times (ACORN SOP), bussing people to diff counties/across state lines and doing same-day registrations to vote multiple times, immigrants voting, fake tallies by electors (see: Detroit recount), delaying overseas military absentee ballots, etc.

1) That Assad was as bad or worse than Hitler by using a Chem weapon attack

And that was his problem. He was trotted out to try to spin Assad as a horrendous monster that had to be stopped and went too far.

I met him at the beginning of the Trump mishegas and while I wouldn't say he was pro-Trump he was already anti-establishment enough to find the prospects of a revolt pleasing. He was pretty forward-leaning as far as revolt, and it wasn't like we were friends and he felt comfortable expressing heresies to me. I'd met him like once before briefly. But he was already talking about things (IIRC) about just moving permanently to his cabin in the Maine woods while the world burned. That kind of thing.

For example, this clownshow Seth Moulton's claims that we need an "independent investigation" to either prove or disprove the election hacking should be hit hard with the statement that in order to call for an investigation, you need credible evidence that the event occurred in the first place, which they clearly don't have. This should be hit time and again from various local and national points and respond over and over and over again, just as the false narrative is pushed over and over and over again.

Anyway, when I said he was a "friend of the blog," I was trying to avoid that accusation I've sometimes gotten of "You treat me like a buddy, then you throw me to your commenter wolf-pack."
Which I have gotten. Not from Wilson, but from others.
I try to avoid drama with anyone I "know," if lightly.
But Wilson was never a friend, or really even a friend of the blog. I was just trying to keep away from internet drama.

Plus I just generally try to keep people out of being trashed on the blog if I've ever had any kind of interaction with them.
Also, I have in fact slipped up and sometimes slammed someone harder on the blog than I meant to -- I had intended just a political argument, but my tone came off hostile and aggressive. If it's someone I actually know (for real know), that results in awkwardness.
Anyway, I'm just generally a bit over-reactive with this sort of thing, worried about fall-out.

Hope it sticks. I've had several positions that tried to implement that but it came back to bite them and we ended up with a modified limited version of it which wasn't nearly as cool as the first run. Problem was, there were certain days where the office was nearly empty b/c of an event, holiday, etc approaching and everyone was on the same wavelength. People would cram in hours Tues thru Thurs and productivity slammed down Fridays and Mondays to the point it was a waste to be open. Suppose it depends on the job type.

that was the point of my Robert "The Jinx" Durst comment. He's the guy who said he just dismembered a guy who'd been murdered by someone else because he was afraid if they found the body they would suspect he had also murdered his missing wife.

That's a really good documentary and one of the ones where the liberal media tv critics aren't lying to you -- it really is that good.
If you download it or buy it, one thing: there is a LOT of set-up to the story. They have to lay out the facts of not one but several murder stories. Much of this is dry.
You have to sit through I think three hours of backstory.
However, at the end of episode 3, it starts to pay off, with the first of several huge "OH SHIT!!!!" moments.
But you have to trust that the three hours of set up will pay off.
It really does pay off. Bigly.
Hugely.
But I always tell people I recommend it to to just get through the first three hours of set-up, and then you will start getting some big payoffs.

That's interesting and I sort of remember that guy now that you mention it.
The one I am thinking of happened when I was a teenager. Birmingham, I think, and I'm pretty sure it was an old woman. A crazy old woman driven slightly more crazy when she realized her husband had died.
Anyway, a quick internet search shows it's surprisingly common. I like the one in Australia where the guy used the chainsaw after he worried that the authorities might suspect he killed her. I'm not sure how that logic plays out, though.

But Spicer had two dumb assumptions in his statement:
1) That Assad was as bad or worse than Hitler by using a Chem weapon attack
2) That killing people with a bomb is worse than with a gas chamber.
And that was his problem. He was trotted out to try to spin Assad as a horrendous monster that had to be stopped and went too far.
The statement about chemical weapons was objectively fact, but the underlying assumptions behind it were stupid.

Although everyone can hang on to it for the hysteria.
It won't be the first time the media/liberals have used supposed offense to Jewish people as some sort of excuse to undermine doing the right thing.
During Rwanda--the Clinton administration argued--and Susan Rice might have had something to do with it--that using the term genocide when talking about Rwanda would offend Jewish people. Never mind that the use of the term genocide would make the UN have to back their raison d'etre.
I'm pretty sure Israel is interested in chemical weapons not being used in the area--as is Lebanon, Jordan, Turkey and even Egypt--this might be one of the first times there is significant daylight between Syria and Egypt.
So---trying to get the vapors over what Spicer said--is just so much false bullshit.

Boy, is it ever the truth. My secretary used to joke that I needed a couch in my office after dealing with all the head cases. My favorite duo were two gals who despised each other, and got into flaming rows on a weekly basis. First one would come into my office blubbing, then the other. The carpet in my office started getting moldy from being wet all the time.

I have never been the boss of anybody, and would never want to be. What I have are clients who desperately need help, and when they get it are incredibly grateful.
A set up I find much much more satisfying than dealing with ingrate employees who need to have their asses and noses wiped, and expect ME to pay THEM afterwards.
