That's the way I look at it. My time is mine until Her Majesty wakes up and asks what my plans are for the day. Which are never her plans for me for the day.

8 I'm awake because I've been taking melatonin to help me sleep. Instead of helping me sleep, it's helping me dream. The dreams are incredibly vivid, detailed and long. I can't take it anymore. They're so vivid they wake me up. They're not exactly nightmares, but darn close. Last night I dreamt I went to Iran on a sightseeing trip and thought it would be a good idea to go swimming at the pool in a bikini. The dream ended with me being questioned by a female member of the secret police. Her first words to me were, "what were you thinking." No more melatonin for me.

If we were liberals, we would blame Bush or Trump for all occasions we were upset until the heat death of the universe.

I am beyond sick of him. His only grace is he was too lazy to be actively evil. And maybe he worried about pushback ala Matt Bracken once the prison busses delivered us to our new, spacious camps.

Yes, they were evil. And yet no one in government acted to protect the citizens. A lot of people died by sins of commission and omission. And the Left wants to rule so bad they are mentally ill with that lost chance.

Someone has all the metadata on who were the evil people, and what their entire network looked like. Alas, it is not being rolled up.

23 I've shown a level of restraint for criticizing Obama that bears no deference to them. And contrast Trump getting unhinged garbage from the media that stretches to the point of insulting the audience.

You can't pick the 50 yard line between liberals and conservatives and call it moderate or unbiased.

So now I'm less restrained. And a nicer, kinder, more-serene well-adjusted man for it. I might happen to say "Obama would smile more if his mouth wasn't cock-shaped."

Happy Sunday Morning everyone.

Posted by: BourbonChicken at March 26, 2017 06:40 AM (VdICR)

24 Salty, have you ever seen David Horowitz's site, Discover the Networks? It's great as far as making all of the insidious attachments of one group to another, but the format is incredibly clunky and hard to work with. I'm not sure how up to date it is but you might find it interesting. It has been helpful to us at Cleveland Right to Life to show how the Catholic Church has been infiltrated.

I like the ease of a Kcup, especially in a hotel room. Also, the Kcup is probably cleaner then that little coffee maker in the hotel room. But I like a strong cuppa, and unless it has a really good strong coffee to start with, or you make only a half cup, I'm not impressed enough with them to buy the maker.

Now you have to admit, its like a court room battle between lawyers. The press asking the same question over and over, in slightly different ways to trip the press secretary....usually endless questions about Russia/ Trump...over and over about wiretaps. Interesting times.

What scientists, Pols, and the MSM Sony talk about is the health of the warm Gulf Steam Current (that loop around the Atlantic which has a huge effect on weather). Also the increased volcanic activity over the last 6-8 years... And by increased I mean a spike.

But yes it's the fault of Western Civilization white people and their conspiracy with the Jooos to invent things which drive Civilization upward and onward, which harms 3rd world populations.

I'm sure I made some comma error in my post. I've always struggled with the possessive vs. not, use of the comma. I had a professor in college call me out on it once. He asked if I understood the grammatical rule and I said yes and he said, no, I don't think you do. My 13 year old friend also busted me when I was trying to help her with her homework on this topic. We went onto another topic and she said, you're a lot better on this than the last one. It's a mental block thingy.

75 Good Sunday Morning, hordelings. Filling in for Fenelon until after Easter, I'm offering up a beautiful passage of Scripture from the words of Isaiah the prophet, Chapter 52 and verses 7 -10.
------------------------------------------------------

How beautiful on the mountains
are the feet of those who bring good news,
who proclaim peace,
who bring good tidings,
who proclaim salvation,
who say to Zion,
"Your God reigns!"

Listen! Your watchmen lift up their voices;
together they shout for joy.
When the Lord returns to Zion,
they will see it with their own eyes.

Burst into songs of joy together,
you ruins of Jerusalem,
for the Lord has comforted his people,
he has redeemed Jerusalem.

The Lord will lay bare his holy arm
in the sight of all the nations,
and all the ends of the earth will see
the salvation of our God.

------------------
And of course, since this is me and not Fen, you get jumping up and down Rock Church. You're welcome:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NJpt1hSYf2o "Our God" with Chris Tomlin.

Have a blessed day, and keep looking up.

They seem to have three rules:

"Your" life has no value.

In a perfect society, in the perfect end state "they" are the rulers, but usually with a more benign title.

The ends justify the means, and "by any means necessary" is a perfectly acceptable methodology.

Yeah. Actually, my test worked out almost exactly like I thought it would.

My Dad did a deep check on family history years ago and that was interesting how far they could go back just based off existing records.

That's not really the case though. It was less than a dozen Republicans that didn't want this, the vast majority did.

People can argue that this was a bad bill, although I think most don't really know whats in there, but it wasn't really that people didn't want to follow. It's that in today's environment where Dems will not vote for any sort of Republican plan on healthcare or anything else for that matter you need virtually 100% of the Republican votes and that is always going to be a difficult challenge with a diverse caucus that doesn't routinely fall in line as the left does.

Which of course has nothing to do with the point. The left is losing because people don't like their policies not because they didn't get their members to compromise and unite around bills.

Take Obamacare, it was passed with complete Democrat support, a multi-phased plan including the underlying legislation, a reconciliation bill for budgetary issues and HHS Sec Sebelius writing much of the actual law with her pen and phone. Lots of Dems wanted a single payer out of the gate but they settled on Obamacare which will deliver single payer eventually if we can't derail it.

Republicans have proved pretty good at being an opposition party. They have to learn that they are now in power and opposition alone isn't good enough. Eventually, they have to unite and take the good instead of always insisting on the perfect or they will continue to lose.

Nonetheless, McTurtle as Senate Majority Leader should have taken the initiative early on, like in November 2016, to ensure the lay of the land in the Senate and coordinated with Ryan.
And Speaker Ryan should have asked McConnell for an initial opinion form the Parliamentarian before he started using it as an excuse.

That's exactly right.

This bill was pretty much what Trump wanted. He hired Tom Price to head HHS and this was the bill that he authored to "repeal and replace" Obamacare.
This all stinks, but O-Care is going to collapse in a couple of years. It has already started financial implosion. The state exchanges have all or will all fail. Insurance companies are pulling out too.

It's not terribly difficult to figure out. It's the same people who all last week said they couldn't support the bill unless certain changes were made and not the people who have been publicly saying they would support the bill.

Trump seems to think he knows exactly who the NO votes are and he is publicly naming them. Since he was negotiating with them right up until the end I think he's in a great position to know.

I also completely reject the argument that this was some sort of stealth Obamacare support bill. When you cancel the Obamacare taxes, remove the mandate and remove the requirement for mandatory requirements in every healthcare plan, there is no more Obamacare.

Oh well, maybe next year.

I said less than a dozen because it was a few hardliners in the Freedom Caucus who run that caucus and they aligned to vote against it.

http://tinyurl.com/k6kd5sj

They tend to vote as a bloc and even if a couple members wanted to support the bill they decided to negotiate and vote as a bloc.

And I disagree with your assessment. People are getting way to hung up on words instead of looking at the underlying actions in the bill. If the votes were there for a straight repeal then great. They weren't. So much like the Dems put Obamacare in place in stages this strategy would have taken it down in stages.

One thing is for sure, with the vote going down Obamacare is definitely staying.

Phase 2 relied entirely on Trump and Price. I'm not entirely sure I trust Trump but I have no reason not to trust Price.

Phase 3 was always going to be a heavy lift because of the 60 vote threshold but I think if Phase 1 and 2 had been approved and started ripping at the core of Obamacare I think it would have been a lot easier since the plan would be all but dead.

Shit, all politicians lie. Never been one who didn't. But I've never bought into the idea that Republicans secretly want Obamacare. Their is zero evidence of this.

Interesting that the votes existed for a straight repeal when it was a consequence free decision that wasn't going to happen. With majorities in both houses and a Republican president who campaigned specifically on repeal...just like the GOPe leadership asked for...magically the votes have vanished.

So the complaint isn't that "we" don't know how Washington works. Sadly we know all too well. That's why the failure of this bill is something I'm fine with. People I trust agree. On the other hand, people in leadership with a track record of condescension and betrayal toward us are unhappy, and that's enough for me.

What I don't think is the poll says exactly what you think it does. What percentage of those people didn't want an Obamacare repeal at all? I can show you plenty of polls that say that a very small minority wanted a full repeal without some sort of replacement. So what? I want Obamacare gone and I was willing to support this process. You weren't. Polls are meaningless.

>>Besides, you've admitted that Ryan's garbage bill was the result of RINO senators that didn't want to reduce Medicaid expansion (which, since those provisions were sunset under obamacare, means your guys are actually *increasing* wasteful spending over obamacare). I said no such thing. The bill absolutely had a Medicaid reform piece, a cap on the amount of money with the money then being block granted to the states for them to administer. It was the first and most expansive reform of Medicaid ever. Perfect, no but a start. Now we will have the Obamacare Medicaid expansion. How is that winning?

Unless you have a 100% alignment on all issues in any bill there is always compromise. That is how Congress was designed to work and does work. The bottom line is that a relatively small number of House members did not want to compromise.

If they can get it passed in the House not to mention hitting the 60 votes in the Senate I will be surprised. Well whatever is greater than surprised.

Dude, you tried to sell the argument that the filibuster is some sacred thing we must never contemplate damaging, and when that argument fell on deaf ears, you've argued that it didn't matter because there weren't fifty votes for full repeal in the senate, and that specifically is known because four senators wrote a letter indicating they wouldn't support anything that reduced medicaid spending.

The 'republicans' who want to keep the government growing are the problem here and you know it, whether you want to continue to delude yourself this bill had any merit or not.

You can continue to insist that it was a crap bill and I can continue to
say it wasn't perfect but a good first step and we will never agree.

Because it's false to claim it was a first step, if the topic of repealing obamacare is being discussed. Under no circumstances, was the Ryan path ever contemplating the full repeal of obamacare. It was a first step in transitioning to republican-run health care, but that's not what we voted for.

No I didn't. I said it would be dumb because it protects the minority party which until lately was us. And we will be again someday. I don't want the Senate to be a smaller version of the House and that is what will happen. You're welcome to your view but I don't think you are the majority outside this blog.

What I did point out, repeatedly, is that it is also meaningless. Get rid of the filibuster and you still need 50 votes and there aren't 50 votes for a straight repeal in the Senate. You can keep ignoring this inconvenient fact and pretend it isn't real but it is.

You're just wrong. No point in continuing this discussion. The 3 step plan was in fact a complete repeal plan. Now you may think it wouldn't have happened but that's not the same thing as saying it wasn't a repeal plan.

In the end, I don't give a shit whether my team a football game with a 60 yard bomb, a 1 yard run up the middle or a field goal. The goal is to win and I don't see any chance of that happening now.

But now we are going to see how your way works. Stop bitching about the bill that is dead. Work on proving your way will work and I'll be the first to say I was wrong and congratulate you.

How could it be? When were the problem senators going to change their minds about reducing medicaid spending? When was the actual language of the mandate going to be erased from the U.S. Code? When was the requirement for 26 year old 'children' and the uninsurable be covered going to be removed? When were the subsidies already paid out going to be clawed back? When were all the sweeteners the democrats gave themselves to secure its passage going to be cancelled (as I haven't seen anyone talk about ending obama's student load consolidation program, for example)?

When the GOP had the presidency, 80 senators, and 9 supreme court judges?

Some of the issues you bring up are valid concerns and since we've been having this discussion for weeks I will refrain from saying "again" again.

Some of the thorniest issues are in the legislative piece. This isn't news and it was always going to be difficult to deal with them lacking a 60 vote majority that would vote straight repeal. But in practical terms if you have already killed the financing and mandates for Obamacare the law would have collapsed. If you go back to the beginning of Obamacare and look at the words of people like Gruber he admitted in private settings that the only way the law would work is through massive taxes and a mandate. Without them, there is no Obamacare for all practical purposes because there is no financing to support the law.

So 1, it would have been easier when there was no underlying law that needed a mandate and 2 even if they couldn't get done in this Congress there are elections coming up next year with a lot of Dem Senators in danger.

One thing you should resign yourself to whether you like it or not, Medicaid is not entirely going away. There is nowhere near the votes for that, ever, and there probably shouldn't be. It does need reform and this bill whether you acknowledge it or not did in fact have a significant Medicaid reform piece. Even the Freedom Caucus didn't argue for its complete repeal, they argued to move in the cap date which by the way they got from one year to two. Still didn't vote for the bill.

You should also know that since Trump specifically ran on allowing kids to stay on their parents insurance that isn't going away either. Frankly, I have no idea why you care. It doesn't affect your cost at all. It's not like they are getting free insurance, it just allows their parents to pay for it on their plan if they choose to.

I will just say, for the last time, that because they were doing this bill under budget reconciliation on the 2017 budget, there were specific Senate rules that only allowed for budgetary issues in the bill. If you want legislative changes as you suggest then it must go under normal legislative process. That means 60 votes or 50 if you get rid of the filibuster. Problem is there are not 50 votes in the Senate for a straight repeal. At least 4 Senators have already said that they won't support a bill that doesn't deal with Medicaid expansion and there are probably more given how many states took Medicaid expansion.

So those are the parameters. That is the reason it went through reconciliation in the first place, to cripple the bill financially and make it non-viable. That would have started the ball moving in the right direction and it did allow for HSAs, Medicaid expansion caps and return to the states, defunding of Planned Parenthood, removal of the requirement for specific types of coverage, removal of mandates and taxes and other conservative wants.

The fact that it didn't have everything in the first bill was enough to kill it for some. I get that. But that argument is over. Your argument won the day. It's now your turn to prove your way will work since you've been arguing for it for weeks.

So get 'er done. I'm going to brunch.

And people like me, are left with the results. The ACA, which has caused my insurance premiums to rise into double to triple it's original cost, a deductible that makes any kind of run of the mill care come out of my pocket , and a group of smug Freedom Caucus members who like being in power as a minority, but seem to not have any immediate interest in putting their own solutions on the stage.

Since Jordan and Paul are out on the Sunday circuit with proposals in hand, that is not the case.

The best analogy I could come up with is gun control -- take a few little snips here and there on your rights -- voila: we have a solution.

In the micro or macro sense, none of it is monetarily affordable for me. Guess I'll just have to stand on principle.
