The Same NYT that Just Ran a Self-Congratulatory Ad About How Devoted to "Truth" They Are Stealth-Deletes an Inconvenient Lie from an Article, Then Refuses to Explain Themselves

Below, two videos: 1, the New York Time's "Truth" ad, which itself stands as mockery against the Times, then 2, the NRA's rebuttal to the NYT ad.

There are no charges in any of this. It simply outlines, as vaguely as neccessary, some relationship between two parties to imply some sort of corruption or impropriety.

None of it is meant to make a case, only to smear with implications so vague they can't be replied to.

59 I just got my cat Kira back from the vet, where I dropped her off this morning to have a lump under her skin removed. The lump had to be sent to a lab to be analyzed.

The vet said the procedure went well. She is still woozy and stumbling around. I have to try to keep her away from staircases and from jumping on the furniture in case she loses her balance. She's wearing an inflatable collar and has already tried to remove it several times. Mostly she just gets one of her front legs stuck in it.

My other cat, Reggie, is terrified of her and keeps hissing and growling at her, and running away. She's had a pretty rough day.

This happened to me. My cat that was at home no longer recognized the one that was at the vet because she picked up the smell from the clinic. Take a towel and wipe the cat from the vet, then wipe it on Reggie and vice versa. Keep doing every few hours or so and eventually he'll recognize her again as the smells commingle.

There still appears to be no good faith basis to investigate the Trump campaign.

It may be time for PDT to confront Comey and demand to know if there is an investigation of the Trump campaign and if so what is the predicate for such an investigation.

If there is an investigation with no good faith basis Comey needs to shut it down or be fired.

It is unacceptable for partisan deep state operatives in the FBI to be using their government positions to go on a fishing expedition against Trump with no predicate for it.

220 Oh ye Trumpers-come-latelys who are clutching their pearls that Sessions recusing himself was a mistake -- you were late to come to Trump for reason as you keep proving -- lack of imagination.

Sessions was ALWAYS going to recuse himself from any investigation into the Trump campaign -- because unlike Obama/Holder/Lynch, he has integrity -- you can't investigate something you were a part of. Plus, unlike Obama/Holder/Lynch he isn't a Dem -- any investigation with Sessions at the head would result in as much screaming outrage from the MSM of "cover up" as an actual indictment would of "guilty."

This whole play put on today with the leak about Session meeting the Ambassador did 2 things for Trump -- it helped smoke out another leaker and Trump got to say "Sessions shouldn't recuse himself" right before Sessions DID recuse himself, proving the independence of Trump from DOJ. That will come in handy when the indictments against the Clinton Foundation start rolling out year end/2018.

No, he didn't. He tried to find a way to get Obama to bring it to the Senate which Obama had no intention of doing. It was not a treaty, it was a sanctions agreement that the executive branch controlled.

Do you think Trump would have had Corker on his very short list for Sec of State if he thought he was in on the Iran deal? A huge part of Trump's campaign was based on trashing this deal, why would he pick Corker if that is his intention.

Obama went to the UN Security Council, a subset of which (including Russia) helped negotiate the deal. They sat in the same room with Kerry and the Iranians while the deal was being done, and they unanimously voted to accept it and the entire international sanctions regime was done. Finished. And that is exactly why Obama went there first.

259 It may be time for PDT to confront Comey and demand to know if there is an investigation of the Trump campaign and if so what is the predicate for such an investigation.

If there is an investigation with no good faith basis Comey needs to shut it down or be fired.

It is unacceptable for partisan deep state operatives in the FBI to be using their government positions to go on a fishing expedition against Trump with no predicate for it.
Posted by: Scalia's Ghost at March 02, 2017 07:32 PM (3OAG2)

Trey Gowdy was just on Martha McCallum's show about a half hour ago and he said he was briefed along with the Dem (who claims Comey is withholding information) by Jim Comey regarding all investigations into Russian interest in the US and said that Comey was very detailed and very thorough in his briefing of the Russian hacking attempts and any other Russian interference . He could not discuss the briefing itself, but emphasized he had never had that much information released to him regarding a FBI investigation , even when he was a Fed. prosecutor, and he had decided the Dem must have been in another room.
Said he is dumbfounded at the Dem's comments(I'm paraphrasing that statement)

Article 1 Section 1, the treaty clause specifically states that for any treaty to pass it must have 2/3 majority in the Senate. It did not have that and would have died had McConnell declared ANY dealings Obama had with Iran to be a treaty. It was fully in his purview as majority leader.

Can you point me to the rule that allows a Senator to call something that isn't a treaty a treaty and that magically turns it into a treaty cause I'm not familiar with that one.

In any case, as I noted above, Obama went first to the UN and the Security Council, which includes the P5+1 that helped negotiate the deal voted unanimously to kill the sanctions. When that happened the international sanctions agreement was over. Finished. US only sanctions would not do anything that couldn't be made up by other countries which you might have noticed have been doing a shitload more business in Iran that we are.

The owners of the zoo have been so inundated with comments and off the wall concerns that they filmed a 15 minute video and posted it , trying to answer questions and dispel myths about the giraffe.

No, her stall isn't flooded, That's hay on the floor, not water, No , she isn't standing in six inches of manure. No, she isn't locked in her stall, her door has been open numerous times weather permitting and she can choose to go out or in. Yes, she has water, it's out of camera range No she isn't bored, she has keepers with her through the day and night. Yes, they know what they are doing, they have two exotic animal veterinarians available. Yes, she is pregnant. Yes she is due anytime. No they don't know when she'll calf, they can't control that.

Worse of all, the owner said that there are scam sites running the giraffe cam and asking people to send money for donations.

He said that the zoo is not a non profit and cannot accept "donations'. They offer for people to sponsor an animal, but if you do, it's not tax deductible. And he implored people not to send money to these fake scam sites.

Instead they got a meaningless recusal that Sessions had already decided on anyway. The press conference was designed to make the media think they got a concession when there was none.

The media is lying? The feckless GOPe are quislings? They're claiming that they're all powerful and it's All Over Now for Trump? Of course they are. It's what they do. It's what they've been doing forever, right up the other night when President Trump walked away from a prime time joint address to Congress with ridiculously high approval ratings. As dramatic as it seems to us, this Russia nonsense has virtually no real-world impact. None.

329 There is a provision for a special counsel under DOJ rules. The independent prosecutor statute is no more.

How is there any reason for a special counsel to investigate the Trump campaign? That is insane. There is nothing to investigate, other than a wish by the Dems that Trump people were part of a conspiracy to hack Podesta and the DNC.

Nor is there any reason for a special counsel to investigate the alleged Russian hacking of Podesta and DNC email servers.

What possible conflict of interest exists in that case? The Russian government does not control the DOJ giving rise to a conflict of interest.

Sessions appears to have recused himself from anything having to do with the "campaigns" which may include the hacking of Clinton campaign affiliates Podesta and the DNC.

But really, there was no good reason for doing so, except buckling to media pressure. No one in the Obama administration recused themselves from investigations into Obama political opponents like Va Gov McDonnell or Dinesh D'Souza.

330 Here is the thing about the Russia deal.

The Democrats want us to believe that the Russians inflitrated and took over the US government.

That is what they want us to believe.

Now, they don't come out and say it, but that is what their accusations mean.

Treason.

I want them to come out and say that for real. Fuckers.

I've heard everyone from Levin to Jacobson to you name it say the same thing. Semantics don't cut it and that is why Corker and Menendez crafted that sham rule for a fig leaf.

Remember the sanctions that Obama put on Russia? This whole Russian kerfuffle going on right now is because Democrats started screaming last summer that if elected Trump could get rid of those sanctions with the stroke of a pen. Why, because Obama implemented them by himself.

It is simply not true that Presidents don't have wide powers to act on their own on certain issues like sanctions.

The outgoing Obamans plotted to take down Trump by listening in on all his people from right after the election until the Inauguration. They didn't find much, else we'd know about it. They caught Flynn in a mis-step and had Sally Yates play a game. They knew Sessions had crossed paths with the Soviet ambassador, and tried to frame him, but failed. That may be it.

There's still moles inside who can try to keep this game going.

But so far all the Bad Guys got is Flynn's scalp and won a few news cycles.

But failing to take down Trump, they now have a real exposure. Sessions isn't recused from frying people over leaking classified documents.

No.

They want the Trump administration gone every bit as much as Schumer and Pelosi.

Not sure if Levin is missing that point, or if he is just as much in on it. Because he alternates between asking why Republicans don't defend Trump and savagely attacking him.

I agree as to not needing a special prosecutor to investigate the DOJ.

The Dems , however, believe(project) that without a SP, Sessions will order the DOJ not to cooperate, not to investigate, etc. despite being recused. It's the only explanation. When you have a room full of bat shit crazy people such as Nancy Pelosi, and evil corrupt jerks such as Chuck Schumer, both of whom today said Jeff Sessions lied to the confirmation committee and should resign, and a couple more Dems who are quoted as saying that Jeff Sessions belongs in jail
you cannot judge their demands based on normal, legal reasoning or simple common sense.

I don't have the patience. And I am one of those who don't take every word Mark Levin says as gospel.

I will ask again though since nobody ever answers this. Trump based a huge part of his campaign on tearing up the Iran deal. Corker was paraded very publicly as one of four finalists for Trump's Sec of State job.

Why would Trump even consider Corker if he thought he was colluding with Obama on the Iran deal? Why would Corker have supported Trump who said he wanted to tear into the deal and take it apart? Even if Trump didn't think Corker was colluding, he would have to think he was a fucking moron if he wasn't getting advice that told him exactly what I am saying, Congress had no shot at stopping Obama on this, Corkers hail mary notwithstanding.

And I'm not writing off Levin either. He was pretty open and clear about three things:

394 386 Last time we stayed in NYC, we stayed at SiL's on 10th and 6th Ave. She bragged that they "only" paid $1.5 mil for a tiny two bedroom (if you could call them that) two bath (the bathrooms were so small you had to turn sideways to get to the bathtub(s). The kitchen was micro small, and had a half-size fridge, because the ancient elevators wouldn't fit a full-size fridge.

Her "dining room" was the entry way. I kid you not.

Anyhow, she believes NYC is the center of the universe and those of us not living there are lesser beings.

One sunny June 6th morning a few years ago, I rigged the antenna outside on the apartment patio, fired up the old Yaesu 857, and started tuning through the bands. I ended up making a contact on 20m with station WW2COS, operated by WWII veterans out of the B-17 City of Savannah on D-Day morning, from the 8th AF museum.

I can neither confirm nor deny that I wet myself while giggling like a schoolgirl at how awesome that experience was.

Brooklyn and NYC in general was a great place to grow up, even in the really horrible 60s and 70s. I was probably part of the last generation that had a connection to the old days - street games, candy stores, Coney Island - where even each borough had its own identity which was fiercely defended. I was always pissed off at people who used to say that Brooklyn was never the same after the Dodgers left, which was before I was born, but now I feel the same way about the place that my youth is now a memory.
Very different city in many ways, some good, much bad.

Time to leave it behind.

539 447 Once again I call for a law that news organisations be required to give the same coverage to the retraction as the original story. If the original story was a front page story for 3 days and printed in 72 point font, then the retraction is a 3 day story in 72 point font. Just to make sure no-one misses the retraction.

Ah, a fair point. See, I'm a bit more risk averse. I'll do things like slowly climb up the back of her chair, touch her neck, and run like hell back to the closet. Sometimes, I'll partially climb onto her forehead while she sleeps and just rest there for a while until she, while still unconscious, tries to slap me away. She has no idea. Heh. Heh heh heh heh.

I was looking up name meanings and decided to check "Donald"

From the Gaelic name Domhnall which means "ruler of the world", composed of the old Celtic elements dumno "world" and val "rule".

625 At his press conference today, AG Sessions said he was going to have a meeting today with his staff about if he should recuse himself.

I think is what happened is the Deep State found out he was going to announce his recusal this afternoon, so they declared today to be dump on Sessions day in order to make it look like he was responding to them.

635 I don't like to disparage one's chosen hom or place of birth, but I simply couldn't live in NYC or anywhere at all on the left coast. I have considered moving to mid coast Maine, but it's too far from grandchildren. When I move again, it will be to a small town. Raised the kids in one and it was bliss.

I've always lived in IL, my family came here ca. 1841. Always loved a small town, moved here from Rockford which was much larger. Ancestral home is about 15,000, nice small town nearby to lager markets and only 1.5 hrs from Chicago.
