Very Cool Piece on the Echo Chamber

Two Obama political appointees recently resigned from the Trump White House as you'd imagine they would do as a routine matter, without controversy.

But there was controversy -- both people claimed to have resigned from Trump's White House for reasons having nothing at all to do with politics, but just having to do with Trump's policies.

Um, I know that makes no sense at all. There was no way to digest it in a way that makes any sense, because you can't make sense of gibberific double-talk such as "With no thought of politics whatsoever, I am resigning in political protest."

In both cases, the media partners in Obama's old Echo Chamber orchestra dutifully sold these stories to their declining readership with no skepticism.

Lee Smith exposes this.

It's about informational operations conducted by Obama sleepers and their agents of influence in the media. It's "crunchy" with cool bits of insidery information.

H/t to Instapundit.

I think (and I could be wrong) that 2016 has shown that a critical mass has finally realized how full of shit the media and other DC-centric institutions really are.

I mean, NO ONE would have voted for Trump if they believed the media. It was a 24/7 hit piece against Trump for months and months. And yet, here we are.

The only people who seem to believe the media are people who are not going to vote R anyways. And even there... I'm not sure how much they really believe the media either, they just like to hear their views reinforced.

32 Acting AG Sally Yates forcing Trump to fire her over the Travel EO was also probably orchestrated.

My working theory was that the Trumpsters delayed the new Travel EO until tomorrow, March 1, because they'd get a new set of Seattle and Ninth Circuit judges to handle any emergency actions like a TRO. Sure enough, the Ninth Circuit panel of three won't let the case go and have issued an order forcing continued briefing on the old order.

It's one thing to fire a political appointee, something entirely different to try and get rid of a civil service employee.

I think Trump should challenge the Constitutionality of Congress and the Judiciary delegating their authority to the executive branch. ie: The EPA (for example) writes laws (legislative role), enforces laws (executive role) and adjudicates laws (judicial role).

the Supreme Court has not ruled on any delegation cases in, like, 100 years. So it's not by any means an easy battle. BUT between Gorsuch and (hopefully) one of the more liberal judges retiring / dying... this would be a great time to challenge the case.

And I'm not sure they could dismiss for lack of standing since the head of the executive branch would presumably have standing on this. I don't know though.

But that would be the quickest and easiest way to eliminate the administrative state.

It had another advantage: you could now guarantee that the people in the civil service who actually did any work would be 100% behind you, because a) you picked them for that, and b) if they weren't, or you lost re-election, they'd be out on their asses. So it would be very much in their interest to implement your policies without cavil.

Not surprised. Ahmed interned at the WH while still a GW student --- just like Huma Abedin, who was also a GW student *and* and executive on the MSA when she interned at the WH (working for Hillary).

Not like there's a formal mechanism to get MB agents hired at the WH or anything, huh?

While this is true, I would imagine that the political appointees such as Ahmed have a direct connection and loyalty to their president, as opposed to your random politically active federal bureaucrat.

Hillary brought over 70 people with her to the State Dept - people like Cheryl Mills and Hum Abedin who had essentially spent their entire careers working for the Clintons, as they traveled from one job to the next, always with the same employer. When Hillary left State not all of these people resigned. Some of them stayed behind and covered her ass, because they were loyal to her, not the US, not the DNC; loyal to Hillary.

Right. Low level unelected bureaucrats can (and do) destroy peoples lives every day.

And your only avenue to redress that grievance is a kangaroo court run by other low level unelected bureaucrats.

And there's no one you can lobby to change the law. There's no one you can vote out of office. Nothing. Because there is no law -- it's just administrative code, which is as powerful as law.

Oh, and the (real) courts really really REALLY don't like to review decisions of administrative courts. Even Scalia didn't want to go there.

And this "shadow government" is way bigger and more powerful than our elected government.

Literally one unaccountable 24 year old can shut down a huge job site, or impose huge fines on someone, or I mean -- anything. They have near limitless power. And the only "check" on them is their co-workers posing as judges.

243 I suspect quite a few folks in this country are now aware that the biased media lies, cheats and pulls the kind of shennanigans listed in the post above on a routine basis. Especially since last November. The fake polling had to be the big eye opener for anybody left who still didn't get it.

It's done in such a clumsy, obvious way. Anybody with an ounce of common sense can see what they're up to.

You'd have to be a very "low information" kind of person to not see through stunts like this, and I think those people are few and far between. The vast majority of the people who say they believe the press is honest know very well that's not the case, and are just carrying water for "the cause."

Just start making people do things they really, really don't want to do, and they'll move along soon enough. For instance, you have a 10 year veteran in the state department foreign service who's less than enthusiastic about doing their job to implement POTUS's foreign policy. Ship them off to an undesirable location for awhile, and they'll get the hint.

There is a law in place allowing the POTUS to lower government employees' salaries to $1. I don't know if it applies to civil service personnel (and I assume it was put in place to accommodate Depression Era "Dollar A Year Men."). If it does apply the result could be instructive.

You're correct, of course.

The only flaw in your suggestion is that it supposes that government has an interest in representing districts or people. Decades of gerrymandering by both sides verifies that this is not the case.

Of course, even in gerrymandered districts, voters could actually ( in theory, discounting the "non-existent" fraud, etc.) stop voting for people who haven't actually resided in their districts for decades and are utter imbeciles. So, the bigger problem: people don't give a shit. They are only interested in celebrity gossip and reality shows.

When you realize that government sole purpose has become a social safety net for otherwise unemployable radicals of all stripes, it all makes sense.

It's genuinely a wonder to me that these people don't end up in shallow graves. I'm not joking.

Don't warm up the banhammer. Not advocating violence. Just saying that in the face of a government which does not provide justice and even application of its laws, and the unaccountable nature of these even low level bureaucrats--and giant piles of money in play--human nature suggests certain alternate routes around the problem. It's surprising to me that it doesn't seem to happen very often.

That's a good thing, no doubt, but it does seem like something has to give at some point--either we return to a nation of laws, or we fully embrace the lawlessness.

I frankly believe that the left (accidentally) stumbled on to the real reason for the Iraq war: oil.

And not in the 'blood for oil' sense but in the "we can't let this rogue douchebag control so much oil. He could really upset the oil-dollar system which would crash the US economy. And our asshole "allies" in Europe are helping him cheat sanctions with corrupt oil-for-food programs and Iraqi oil being shipped out via intermediaries on to the world market..."

I don't know that Bush himself had all of those thoughts, but that's why the intelligensia was advocating for war with Iraq since Desert Storm ended at the border. The war drums started during Clintons administration, not Bush's.

Many of Bush's advisers and allies like Paul Wolfowitz, Bill Kristol, Robert Kagan belonged to PNAC which was promoting democracy in Iraq and throughout the world back in the 1990s.

Their logic was that Terrorism would be defeated by Democracy in the Islamic World. All it did was prove a majority of Muslims in that part of the world are in favor of many of the end goals of Jihadists.

381 The malfeasance of CA state officials in a voter-approved proposition was Prop 189. The measure which passed which would have denied public services to illegal aliens.

That one was of course struck down by the black-robed radicals, and it wasn't clear what its prospects might be upon taking it further up the federal appellate ladder, with the terminus of that ladder being a SCOTUS containing Anthony Kennedy.

But, nevertheless, it would have been instructive, and good optics, to have continued to appeal the case, and who knows, a significant and lasting legal victory might have somehow been squeaked out.

Then Democrats put on a full-court press, and secured the Governor's mansion, and the first thing the new Governor did was announce that his administration wouldn't undertake to appeal the ruling striking down 189.

You thought that "public servants" had as their role to legally defend properly enacted laws approved by direct public vote? Regardless of their personal feelings or partisan inclinations? Nah bro.

I honestly don't remember the connections to 9/11 as being anything other than incidental.

I do remember that Saddam was harboring terrorists including one of the indicted conspirators of the WTC bombing in 93 and even allowed terror training camps in Iraq. I do remember that he was funding terrorists in Israel and paying the families of suicide bombers. I also remember that Saddam was actively firing on our planes and flaunting virtually every single part of the Cease Fire agreement that allowed him to not only not be tits up but still in power.

All of this was happening under the overall atmosphere of not just 9/11 but also things like anthrax powder being sent to random people on a seemingly daily basis.

Maybe it's me because I was really focused on terror attacks dating back to the bombing of the Marine barracks and all the attacks during the Clinton years that basically were ignored but we were clearly playing defense and under threat from more attacks at the time and there was zero doubt that Saddam was a serious player in both terror and destabilizing the Middle East. He should have been gone during the first war, had to go eventually.

No one is denying that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction, but so did North Korea, Iran, Pakistan, and a half dozen other dumps on this earth. Some of which were far more dangerous than Iraq, and have proven to be so since 2003.

So why Iraq? Most of the Bush's advisers and friends felt that if democracy was spread throughout the Middle East it would destroy AQ and Jihadist groups. Also most of them felt Islam was not to blame for Terror, and that it was just something that was funded by dictators, etc.

This is not a Michael Moore view at all. He thought Bush lied so he could get the oil, and get rich.

Posted by: Harry Paratestes at February 28, 2017 01:09 PM (wmaTe)

406 So why Iraq?

Well lets look!

-Iraq's noncompliance with the conditions of the 1991 ceasefire agreement, including interference with U.N. weapons inspectors.
-Iraq's alleged weapons of mass destruction, and programs to develop such weapons, posed a "threat to the national security of the United States and international peace and security in the Persian Gulf region."
-Iraq's "brutal repression of its civilian population."
-Iraq's "capability and willingness to use weapons of mass destruction against other nations and its own people".
-Iraq's hostility towards the United States as demonstrated by the 1993 assassination attempt on former President -George H. W. Bush and firing on coalition aircraft enforcing the no-fly zones following the 1991 Gulf War.
-Members of Al-Qaeda, an organization bearing responsibility for attacks on the United States, its citizens, and interests, including the attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001, are known to be in Iraq.
-Iraq's "continuing to aid and harbor other international terrorist organizations," including anti-United States terrorist organizations.
-Iraq paid bounty to families of suicide bombers.
-The efforts by the Congress and the President to fight terrorists, including the September 11, 2001 terrorists and those who aided or harbored them.
-The authorization by the Constitution and the Congress for the President to fight anti-United States terrorism.
-The governments in Turkey, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia feared Saddam and wanted him removed from power.
-Iraq Liberation Act of 1998, the policy of the United States was to remove the Saddam Hussein regime and promote a democratic replacement.

Yes, one of the theories was to place Iran (one of the axis of terror states) between two stable democracies and cause their nation to reject tyranny. That was working so well that finally a revolt started up in Iran which President Obama did nothing to assist and ignored until it was destroyed.

Even Libya gave up its weapons in the area. The idea was working, until traitors in the USA destroyed the effort and we elected a radical leftist Muslim sympathizer to destroy it.

Iran was openly running agents up and down iraq during Bush's last years. Some of the neo-con assholes got their panties in a bunch when the interim iraqi government rounded up a couple and shot them .

423 there was zero doubt that Saddam was a serious player in both terror and destabilizing the Middle East. He should have been gone during the first war, had to go eventually.

The second Iraq war was a problem on many fronts.

The casus belli was a house of cards, not even so conclusive as the fact that the Iraqis were shooting at our no-fly-zone patrols.

The sanctions put into place after the first Gulf War were proving increasingly leaky and certain putative allies (why is it always the French?) wanted far greater trade with the regime.

The occupation force structure and 'nation building' strategy was fatally flawed.

I'm sure this list could go on for a ways.

The fund Shia dissident groups (Houthi's for example) through the ummah, which I guess you could arguably say are terrorist groups, but it's more of a "cold war" being fought with proxies between the Shia and the Sunni.

BS...SO we should invade every country on earth that does that? That is a Bill Kristol-John McCain view of American foreign policy.

Why was PNAC pushing memos, and letters, etc to the American public, to the Clinton Administration throughout the 1990s for regime change in Iraq?

More important since that time, almost everyone one of those individuals from Robert Kagan to Bill Kristol have continued advocating for Democracy in the Middle East. They were for the Libyan intervention to establish democracy, for a Syrian Democracy, etc.

So the prime reason was Democracy in Iraq...hence the Religion of Peace, and all that. Bush & Co. really believed that Democracy in the Islamic world would bring about a cultural revolution that would end terrorism in that part of the world.

There were further flaws in that direction. We did not utterly subjugate Iraq before setting out to rebuild it. The "surgical" approach, the communicating that we are "not at war with the Iraqi people" left entirely too much of their psyche intact.

And that psyche was an Islamic one, which was the critical error in Bush's intent to rebuild. Sure, you can get them to the point where they elect a government democratically. And you're going to get a democratically elected Islamic government, and you're worse off than when you started.

We cannot engage in a WW2-style rebuilding of a nation into a stable
democracy like we did with Japan any longer. Americans will not put up

Well, it's misleading to say "a nation". We could do it with Germany and Japan because, beneath all of the militarism they were still civilized societies. We couldn't do it with the Arabs because beneath the militarism they are uncivilized barbarians straight out of the 7th century.

It isn't a matter of Americans not putting up with it; it's a matter of us admitting that we cannot possibly do what no other power in history has been able to do, either. Which is to turn the Arabs into a civilized people.

The violation of cease fires? The shooting at American planes? The harboring of terrorists? Which of these things was not proven? I'll save you time they were all 100% absolute fact.

I don't like the globalist stupidity of the Bush administration. They made several key mistakes in their Iraq policy that came back to bite us. We should focus on those as the problems, not regurgitate idiotic and false leftist talking points from 10 years ago.

498 The Big Original Sin of the US in the Gulf was that Bush Sr. didn't take out Saddam at the end of Gulf War 1, which he could have done with just 24 hours more effort. Colin Powell didn't want him to do it, and Saudi didn't want it because they were scared of the Iranians, and Turkey didn't want it because they were scared of the Kurds. So Bush Sr. caved and let Saddam stay in power.

Undo that mistake in '91 and the entire history of the last 25 years changes dramatically.

I was stationed stateside at the time of Bush War 1. We were gearing up for urban warfare. The unit I was with, we were designed for urban warfare.

I was ready to go.

Fast forward 13 years, and the son launched Bush War 2, and a large number of young men had to go in and do the job I was supposed to do 13 years earlier.

I meet lots of younger Veterans, guys who were there, saw what they saw, did what they did. I feel a certain amount of personal responsibility. They had to do the job I was supposed to do 13 year earlier.

Saddam Hussein was a very bad actor that was shooting at our planes and continually violating a cease fire in the region. After 9/11 it seemed pretty obvious that we can't let guys like that stick around.

Lots of 'bad actors' out there. In fact, history is repleat with them. The Founders didn't seem to be keen on making the US the World Police, and in my humble, that was a damn good bit of natural indifference.

Further, why? What evidence was there that he could have effected any kind of attack on the US itself?

None of these complaints about Saddam's evilness seem to approach a level that warrented an adventure that was guaranteed to end in retreat because of a disinterested US public.

Exactly.

The only argument against going into Iraq is in restrospect, arguing the cost in lives, dollars, and underestimation of the complexities of the groups, tribes, etc.

If someone wants to argue the finer points of the post- Saddam planning and execution of things, I think there's a fair discussion to be had. Anyone beating the "No WMD" drum or arguing that we had no reason to go in is either disingenuous or an imbecile.

There are a LOT of things I disagree with Bush about. I disagree with virtually all his domestic policy, his obsession with giant foreign aid packages, the details of No Child Left Behind and it being in the federal wheelhouse at all,... I think he made the right call going into Iraq. I think it could and should have been done a lot better but the majority of mistakes, IMO, were the result of Democrat and political meddling after the fact.

If Democrats (and the media, etc.) didn't lie their asses off and turn Iraq into a completely disingenuous political issue for the 2004 election, I think a lot of things would be very different, a lot of lives and treasure would have been spared, and Iraq would be a very different place today.

We cannot engage in a WW2-style rebuilding of a nation into a stable democracy like we did with Japan any longer. Americans will not put up with it.

That was the mistake. That was the flaw in the plan.
Posted by: Christopher R Taylor at February 28, 2017 01:12 PM (39g3+)

-----------------------------------------------------------

You proved my point right there! Japan is not Iraq, it is not a majority Muslim population, or with numerous Islamic factions and ethnic groups. Japan, Korea and Germany for that matter, have one ethnic group, one culture, and a national sense of itself. We did not have to worry about Japanese faction fighting another faction. We had captured the Japanese god, and made him do what we wanted. Did we capture Allah in Iraq?

Also what Democracy brought in the Islamic world was the people's representatives voting for things like men marrying nine year old girls, thankfully in Iraq it was put on the back burner because ISIS came pouring in before the vote. In Egypt democracy meant the Muslim Brotherhood, in Libya it meant Islamic tribal groups fighting in the streets.

If you think that allowing the average Muslim majority population to vote will produce anything but an increasing Islamization of the country, and more Jihadists then you have not been paying attention the last 20 years. We could have troops in Iraq for a hundred years and we would still be in the same situation, unless of course we were willing to de-Islam the country like Ataturk did in Turkey.

Sadly once the Turkish military stopped doing proper coups to remove the Islamist that got elected, we see the backsliding to Islamism in Turkey now. Another mess Bush created for putting pressure on the Turkish military to not take out Erdogan's party when they had a chance.

I agree completely. If you notice how fast the MSM is in on this, it's almost like each threat and gravestone-turning is called in to CNN before it even happens.

This is an unbelievably risky game for them to be playing, because if we ever catch some of the perps who've been doing this, the whole thing is going to blow up in their faces.

=====================

I think we might have broken through last night.

We've been bribing him with M&M's for a successful pee and a little Thomas the Tank Engine toy for every successful poop.

He'd been getting the pee part intermittently. When he runs around without pants he remembers, but with pants he suddenly seems to forget, but he just wouldn't make it to the potty for the poop.

Last night, though, he only had one accident in real underwear, while he was trying to get to the potty, and he even went, on his own, to the potty for a poop.

We have to get it completely done by May 1 because we're finally putting him in daycare and he'll be 3, and I'm suddenly optimistic that we'll get it done.

My advice having trained 3.

Wait till he's 3 if you can. Then it takes about 5 minutes. If you can't ditch the pull ups during the day. They feel dry. Buy 20 pairs of cheap sweat pants and when he pees in them, he changes them. Like any guy, that's a lot of trouble and he'll train himself toot sweet. I'm embarrassed in all the effort, rewards, timing, videos, stories, special underwear, etc I spent on the first one. All you have to do is let him feel wet. He'll get it right away.

555 There's also a pic taken seconds before the one everyone has seen that shows Kelly up on her knees on the couch taking the photo of the people. She's in that position because it gets everyone in the photo.

In the photo published, she has sunk back off her knees, which probably wasn't comfortable, and is checking the phone to see if she got everyone in the pic.

This is so silly but typical liberal crap. They never engage on issues, only on personality. Because you can't really fight it. Just like calling everyone a racist.

559 Look the problem with Iraq is simple:

You either believe one of two things:

Opinion 1: That establishing a democracy in a majority Muslim country, like Iraq, will be a benefit strategically to the U.S. That also means that you think Islam has nothing or little to do with Jihadism.

Opinion 2: That establishing a democracy in a majority Muslims country, like Iraq, will not be a benefit strategically to the U.S. That also means that you think Islam has a lot to do with Jihadism.

It has nothing to do with the leftist view of anything. It is about Islam itself.

I'm going to back pedal my earlier post a bit based on yours.

Generally I am with you. We have no business being the world police, there are a lot of bad actors out there, and unless they represent a threat to U.S. interests or safety, I generally side with staying out of it, regardless of their atrocities.

The catch on Iraq was that it went far beyond bad actor and committing atrocities within his own borders. He was providing material support to people who were committed to and had perpetrated attacks on American interests and American soil. Not only did all alternate actions fail but Saddam become increasingly belligerent. Bush made the point clearly- we will not distinguish between terrorists or the nations or individuals who harbor or suppport them. I agree with that policy 100%, with the full understanding that it's opening Pandora's box.

There is also the strategic value in the overall War on Terror which cannot be discounted. One of the difficulties in dealing with terrorists in that region is logistics and the plethora of uncooperative and/ or hostile governments. A free, democratic Iraq ally would be a game changer strategically. Gaddaffi immediately became cooperative and ditched anything that could appear hostile because he didn't want to be next. We were far better off with that Gaddaffi than the guy we helped kill under Obama. Look at the consequences there. We would have a direct check on Iran and a base to chase down ISIS. Instead, ISIS got a buffer and got richer.

566 >>It is simple. A lot of people still think Islam has nothing to do with Jihadism. Hence: Religion of Peace...

I think that is diplomatic term designed to say to Muslims that not every one of them is a jihadist. The other option is to tell the billion plus Muslims in the world that they are all terrorists of a sort. Not exactly a winning position.

There is no easy and simple way to do this as has been proved for decades. We tried ignoring them, got attacked over and over. Tried a war and while we won the war the media and the left gave away the peace.

We'll see if Trump has any more luck.

I don't think wealth even will do it. Hence why wealthy Muslims tend to fund traditional madrases and Jihadist groups around the world, especially in the west.

The best hope is secularization, but we cannot do that because our secular leftists love Islam as a way to bring about the great progressive revolution in the west.

So western conservatives are forced to be for secularization in the Islamic world...how do you think that will work out. Maybe conversions might work...

Actually there is two other REAL ways which I forgot to add above in the other response.

1. Push for ethnic nationalism (see Kurds). Nationalism over religion is a way to reduce Islamization.

2. Secular dictators of any kind.

Those are the only options that are doable now, so it is simple.

570 >>I am optimistic. Not very optimistic, but more than I have been in the last 9-10 years.

I am too. I think there is a growing exhaustion in the region and a desire from many for stability. And it needs to come from them and I think Trump gets that.

Last time I was in the UAE there were nightly newscast about the Saudi and UAE action in Yemen. Doesn't get reported here much but they are taking it to the al Qaeda types. More of this needs to be encouraged.

571 >>> It is simple. A lot of people still think Islam has nothing to do with Jihadism. Hence: Religion of Peace...
......

I don't thinks it's that simple. It's kind of a correlation is not causation thing.

Yes, you don't get Islamic terrorists without Islam... probably. Nutcase are gonna nutcase and if you remove one excuse, they will find another. If I look hard enough at virtually any religion or system of belief and I am a batshit crazy homicidal maniac who thinks blowing myself up isn't a crazy idea, I will find some excuse to do it besides my own fucked up mind.

I fundamentally disagree with the Leftist view of things being totally unrelated because racist and my professor told me now take me to my safe space...

I also don't believe in painting everyone in possibly the largest religion on earth with the same brush when only a small fraction do crazy shit.

By all means, profile. Mormons and Quakers don't tend to blow themselves up. That said, if someone clears the security check, lets acknowledge that not everyone who fits the profile is a terrorist.

Wealth and secularization of government go hand in hand. In order for those societies (not individuals) to become wealthy, they have to open up a bit, and once they open up, normative Islam, like most religious ideologies, fails the sniff test.

We have to co-opt the rhetoric of the secularist left, and turn it against itself, because ultimately it is incoherent.

Posted by: Alcoholic Asshole Shut In at February 28, 2017 02:00 PM (CPk08)

573 I have a suggestion:

The Damiano Doctrine: Everyone, without exception, is considered a threat until they voluntarily demonstrate compelling and verificable evidence to the contrary. Period.

Mattis said it better, but he's a better man than I am.

Shorter Damiano Doctrine: I hate and mistrust everyone equally.

Posted by: Damiano at February 28, 2017 02:05 PM (71OEY)

574 >>1. Push for ethnic nationalism (see Kurds). Nationalism over religion is a way to reduce Islamization.

>>2. Secular dictators of any kind.

We can push it all we want but we are never going to be able to fix Islamization from the outside. It will have to come from within.

And there are examples of Muslim majority countries who either are largely peaceful and tolerant to a degree and those moving that way. Look at Jordan or the UAE or even Egypt under el Sisi (whom Obama tried like hell to keep out of power because the US never meddles with other countries political process).

I just don't agree that it's as simple as you claim. We've been screwing around with the region for decades and actually created some of the countries you want to force to accept a more nationalistic approach instead of Islamic and equally important but rarely discussed tribal. Take a look at the Pakistani/Afghanistan border region. There are a lot of areas where tribe is more important than anything including Islam and nationalism and the border is a joke. We've only been trying to solve that problem since forever.

Thx for the reply.

A few scattered thoughts:

Iraq dwarfed the threat that Pakistan and the House of Saud did and does. Not to drive the nail into the wood and through but, the 9.11 attack was entirely a offspring of both. Iraq had nothing to do with it.

(Yes, we all know the blind sheik went to Badhdad. So fucking what? Still not enough to justify a predictably neutered mission. )

Those two countries are still counted as allies. I don't care why that's so, nor do i need to engage in any kind of conspiracy theory to underline it.

Nor do I have to manufacture a reason for Bush's adventure in Iraq. I don't and that's why this critique is so cheap and easy, and embarrassingly missing from the GOP's debate book.

There is zero. 0. evidence that avoiding the adventure would have resulted in a material threat to the US.

Iran had been and continues to be a greater contributor to islamic-driven terror than Saddam had been.

(Saddam had to manufacture his muslim bona fides with the flag stunt, remember? )

Yet, Bush didn't even sneeze towards Tehran. And we stupid fucks expected/hoped Obama would push the Iranian regime over the edge in 2012. Damn stupid of us.

(Huge Hewitt was convinced in 2007 that we were going to launch an attack on Iran ... That worked out swell. )
