EMT 02/12/17 Stupid Criminals edition

So this guy just casually outed half his family as illegal aliens, and at least some of them as identity thieves.

Responding to President Trump’s suggestion of “withholding federal funding” from California, de Leon said: “Half of my family would be eligible for deportation under the executive order, because they got a false social security card, they got a false identification, they got a false driver’s license prior to us passing AB 60, they got a false green card, and anyone who has family members who are undocumented knows that almost entirely everybody has secured some sort of false identification.”

"Hi! I'm California state Senate President Pro Tem Kevin de León. Please arrest me for accessory after the fact."

Aside from being an accessory after the fact, being a man with influence, one could reasonably suspect that his family may have had his direct help in crossing the border and procuring said identities.

So in a lawful society, this man would have various federal agencies looking very hard at his bank accounts, his official communications with agencies that provide official identification, and also doing a deep dive on his private communications to find any associations with coyotes and providers of stolen IDs.

In a lawful society.

In other stupid crime news, apparently the best way to identify ~~peaceful protesters~~ rioters is to check Facebook and other social media.

Seriously, California? You, a bag of dicks and ... well, honestly zero assembly required.

All over Facebook, all over the local media, the anti-Trump insanity is in overdrive. I'm enjoying the hell out of it, honestly, but still..the depth of the insanity is a bit off-putting. When I was in my 20s, politics was at worst an annoyance....lots of life to live at that age. Now, I see my Millennial nieces and nephews in full 24-7 meltdown mode. I try to tell them that it's not healthy, they tell me that I want Trump to murder my special-needs son and put my gay daughter into a concentration camp. It's ridiculous.

37 It seems to me that is the conservatives' version of Don't Ask, Don't Tell brought to an end. TFG brought an end to DADT, after it was imposed on the military by Billy Jeff. And the Left celebrated. And DADT was a disaster in terms of it being a hide your head in the sand and ignore the law kind of thing. And maybe even it was the right thing to decide the issue the way TFG did.

I'm not in the military so I can't judge it very well.

DADT has also been the US policy for at least the last 16 years (and probably since Reagan) on illegal and overstay aliens. The law is clear, but hasn't been enforced. And like a pack of cowards, the leaders in DC refused to either revise the law or end it totally. Because they knew they'd get tossed out on their asses if they chose poorly.

Well Trump is about to fulfill the promise made to Reagan as part of that last major amnesty deal. And Trump won't hesitate to finally have that national conversation. And whatever the outcome, the law will be enforced.

And that will be the right thing to do, even if the law isn't exactly to our liking. (and it won't be)

I remember standing in line to vote for Reagan. Four years later, the line was even longer. I can see the same scenario playing out. My two brothers and I (from middle Ga.) visited Vic in Charleston hospital yesterday, to try to offer some adult supervision. He seemed to be doing good for the major operation he had. He was showing some signs of heavy pain meds thru ivs and epidural, he was not feeling any pain! The surgery was approx. five hours long, they removed a tumor on upper track along with his duodenum, and 20% t0 30% of his pancreas. they won't know if cancer has spread for week to 2 weeks. earliest chance to go home is another week. Will post if any major change.

My neighbors (most of whom I remember getting their citizenship because I have lived here for so long) keep at least one family member with Mexican citizenship for property ownership in Mexico. This was explained to me by one of my neighbors who now has three houses here and the big one down south.

112 Sorry. I forgot about keeping all of you updated. Vic had his surgery on Thursday; everything went well. He's snoozing a lot and was showing some confusion. Yesterday (Saturday) they decreased his narcotics and increased his fluids so he's more alert. The doctor is still saying about 7 days in the hospital for him. I'll be leaving later to go back to see him. I'll also try to do better about remembering to post updates. I've saved the site as a favorite, so that will help to remind me.

The two that got me good both had their front ones removed.

Our other cat, know to The Princess as "The Usurper", has all her claws because she is really careful and gentle with them.

Conservatives wanted to preserve the traditional privileges of the aristocracy, while liberals wanted to broaden the franchise or something like that.

"Liberalism" also had to do with economic liberty, i.e. free market capitalism.

I think both terms ought to be retired, as they have strayed so far from their origins that they have lost all meaning. Today's SJW leftists are in no way liberal, while there are so many flavors of conservative that nobody can agree on the meaning of the word.

According to the notes on the text it was always supposed to be a single novel consisting of six books but it was easier to print in three volumes. There is a pretty extensive history of the printings in the notes.

Yahoo has an article up about all the "desperate immigrants" who are now fleeing to Canada from the U.S., because of big bad meany Trump.

The article featured a Somali "immigrant" named Ahmed who walked into Canada, risking his life to trudge in sub-zero temperatures across frozen tundras, because he was so desperate for freedom, and had been treated so badly in the U.S. and was so fearful of the evil Trump.

Ahmed had left his wife and three children, one of whom was a baby, back in Somalia. He had come to the U.S. because he feared for his life (he says), after having seen his father murdered by a rival tribe. (So conditions in Somalia are so bad that he doesn't want to live there, but he's happy to leave his wife and young kids there alone to take their chances).

He arrived in Texas (no doubt after illegally crossing the southern border) in 2014 and applied for "refugee" status here. But after a hearing his claim was denied, and he was set to be deported. Funny, but I seem to remember that somebody other than Trump was president in 2014. Hmmmm, who was that? Oh yeah, it was Obama, the guy who never met a Muslim "refugee" from Somalia that he didn't want to resettle in the U.S.

And yet somehow, the Obama administration denied Ahmed's refugee claim and ordered him deported, and now it's Trump's fault that poor Ahmed had to flee to Canada to avoid deportation! Because if Ahmed had remained in the U.S., Ahmed's deportation order -- that the Obama administration signed -- might have been enforced by Trump! Isn't that the very definition of evil? Trump enforcing the law and deporting an illegal alien from Somali that even the Obama administration would not give refugee status to?

And good luck to Canada, which now has this guy. There had to have been a reason the Obama administration wouldn't give Ahmed "refugee" status, and it's probably because he has known terrorist connections (because those are the only muzzies Obama would deport).

But yahoo depicts this guy as a "victim" of Trump. It's so ludicrous it almost defies belief.

Yeah, the ACLU wants overflowing detention centers so they can get a Federal Judge to issue either habeus corpus writs due to violation of the right to a speedy trial, or orders to the Administration to reduce crowding. They expect either to result in releasing most detailed illegals very quickly, with a Federal Court Order permitting them to stay loose until a hearing. Hopefully Trump, Sessions, and Kelly are planning ahead in this area.

You never, for any reason, reveal that you voted for Trump. You also never reveal conservative leaning principles as that will probably "out you". Things like lower taxes, less government control in our lives, freedom of speech are all dead giveaways.

The penalties are severe. Co-workers will shun you, a few months later you'll be deemed "not a good cultural fit" for the company and fired. Friends you've known for 20 years will abandon you. Your children will get picked on at school, beaten up, gang bullied, etc. Any true friends you have will be subjected to the same treatment for even associating with you. Think this is a joke? This is literally how it is for conservatives in California. I've have *witnessed* this happen multiple times.
