Democrats Vow to Filibuster Trump's Supreme Court Pick -- Whoever It Is
So they're just planning to keep the seat (and any other seat that opens) vacant for at least another four years -- and maybe eight years, if they keep going the way they're going.
Senator Jeff Merkin of Oregon came up with the catchy hashtag meme-- this is a "stolen seat," and therefore, the Democrats will not allow it to be filled until there's a Democrat president. Orin hosta is one of the ringleaders of the "conservative" Senators who refuses to use the nuclear option. 1, will he change his mind if the Democrats do filibuster anyone (except a provable liberal)? I doubt it. Many of these fuckers are a lot more liberal than they pretend in the nine months before an election and rely on Democrats having the power of the filibuster precisely to frustrate their actually-conservative fellow Senate members. That way they can make noise about conservative agenda points, while actually blocking those agenda points. They get the best of both worlds -- they can pretend to be conservatives while acting as the handmaidens of the Progressive Transnational Superstate. 2, when can we primary this old fool, and can we finally stop electing or re-electing soft squishy RINOs (and actual liberals) from red states like Utah and South Carolina?Comments

It's not really a fight we want to have, though. It would harden the GOPe as long as the fight was ongoing. They'd collect together and work to thwart Trump's agenda because he'd be attacking one of their own.

I remember some RINO of the Weekly Standard sort arguing that conservatives should stop worrying about the conservative bona fides of a candidate, and instead find one who was willing to work for them on a transactional basis.
It looks like he might have been right....Trump certainly hasn't been particularly conservative personally, but it looks like he has fully allied himself with conservatives, and recognizes that the only way this works is if he delivers on his promises to conservatives...

The premise of Hatch's original Senate run was that the incumbent against whom he ran had been in D.C. for THREE WHOLE TERMS and perforce had lost touch with ordinary constituents back home.
That election, which Hatch won, was in 1976. Hatch himself has been embedded like a tick in D.C. ever since.

It is better we find out now who can handle the heat and who cannot. If people think the meltdown over minor immigration restriction EOs (I think Trump did not go far enough on this), and supreme court judges will be the worst, they are kidding themselves.
This is just the beginning, and the left, along with the radical internationalists, are only just beginning to turn what was a cold war, perhaps into a hot war. It is better that people who actually care about the republic's survival start to harden their hearts.
One real possibility: Trump starts to really crack down on sanctuary cities and California decides to withhold federal tax dollars, or some other crack pot idea. Will other Democrat states like Oregon, Washington, heck even New York join in?
Once again Trump is bringing this to a head now and it is a blessing (even if his critics are right that he does not realize it, or want it). The longer we let this carry on the worse it will be for America.

After 2012 the Left believed that they were about to finally get their Brave New World.
There was no opposition politically any more, and swamping the country with people opposed to traditional American values would cement that.
All they needed was for the American people to sleep just a bit longer.
And then Trump ran and starting saying things Republicans weren't allowed to say. And people, at least enough people, woke up and saw that this really was there last chance to stop something they didn't want...and so they elected Trump, and enough Republicans to stop the country's drive off the cliff of socialism.
Trump seems to be not only stopping the drive to the left (something no Republican has done since Reagan) but to actually roll it back (something no Republican has done since Coolidge)
This is...unacceptable...to the left.
But they only have two choice now - browbeat Republicans into betraying the public or taking up arms.
So far the browbeating hasn't worked.

I looked at this. A majority of those seats are in safe blue states.
However, 10 of them are in states that went for Trump. Three others are in states Trump barely lost. With some effort, I think most of these could be flipped to the GOP. They just need to be the right kind of GOP.

That still leaves room for 2 GOP defectors, but if Hatch will be one of them, I don't know. So many possibilities. Collins, Murkowski, Graham, McCain,...

2. All that is required for a rules change in the Senate is 51 votes. That's how Dingy Harry the Searchlight Strangler did it. Pence sits as President of the Senate to make up for desiccated fossils like Hatch and it's a done deal. And the Demonrats will come to regret forcing this move.
3. I was contemplating in the shower that I'm grumpy and fat; but, more to the point, that the insanity among the left is bad for everybody. We need a SANE opposition. They've become so unhinged so rapidly that people are starting to tune them out just to tone the noise down. But we need thoughtful opposition to act as a corrective to inevitable mistakes and that's gone until they get their act together and stop acting like Trump is Pazzuzu's cousin.
5. We're going to start seeing A LOT more mobies. They desperately, desperately want their propaganda victories and will go to ridiculous extents to find them.
