I realize the current executive administration doesn’t care and the current majority in the legislative branch barely cares, but remembering exactly who our government works for will be helpful over the next few years.

We went to the break room and watched it on CNN. Looked very scary. The base closed not too long afterwards. The HF operations moved to Guam.

The guy is great with movies, he keeps up on new home video releases, and I've learned about a lot of great new releases from him.

The problem is, the guy has gradually gone completely apeshit over politics. He's gone from a typical lib to full-on Stalinist. He's even now promoting violence at his blog (although he's always oh-so-clever about couching his terms).

In the past I've gotten so pissed at him, because he WILL NOT respond to decent inquiries and honest debate, that I've written stuff like above to him, then banned myself from his blog for months at a time. But I keep coming back (stupid of me), and he's still posting liberal hate.

So now I'm trying to give him up for good. Thought it would be less aggravating for me to make an educated guess of what he and his liberal ass-buddies have posted, and respond to him here. Lately he's also big on "purging" (his own term) his comment site and he's even been threatening his few remaining conservative readers lately, no matter how polite they are to him.

Oh: and on 2016 election day, Wells was ranting on and on and on about how Trump was elected by "hinterland bumblefucks." I've mentioned that before here. As I've said, some people have everything and they're still walking pieces of hateful shit. Wells is one of them.

I was involved in the base renegotiations that were contemporaneous with Mt. Pinatubo's eruption. We literally shut them down afterwards and Anderson and NAS on Guam expanded dramatically.

My favorite moment came prior to the eruption. The Philippine Senate had played real hardball but it was obvious enough money would do the trick. There was one senator from Pampas who was particularly prickly. I asked him why, and he angrily replied in all seriousness Subic caused him to have to pay more for maids and whores.

Fast forward thirty years, and the United States is just as rotten if not more so than the RP back then, although whore prices have stabilized since the economy collapsed.

There's a "parenting" board there, apparently for people who refuse to ask their parents for advice on raising their kids, and a guy asked what he should do for his daughter, who is reluctant to go to school, won't say why, etc.

My first thought: "she's being bullied -- help her learn to ignore the bullies or to work with school officials to end it". I think the most popular answer was along that line, too.

But a one of the other answers was "maybe she's gender confused".

Then there was the one I hope and pray was a troll: "My daughter was acting similarly, and after therapy for the whole family decided she identifies as male. She's just had her breasts removed, and is doing much, much better..." I cannot imagine a real parent agreeing to have a kid surgically mutilated for a social fad.

Please, tell me it was just trolling. Please?

Not me, I was only TDY there. Two of my people were at Cubi Point when the volcano blew though. They got the jet fixed and launched out, and got on a chopper which took them to a carrier. From the carrier they went to Okinawa where they made their way to Kadena, then waited three days for airlift back to Korea.

Unfortunately Boys Scouts, after years of resistance, is getting sucked in. First it was gay scouts, then gay scoutmasters and today it was announced trans boys will be accepted. Ever increasing focus on SAFETY and endless rules at events and all sorts of PC language has started popping up. At a meeting a few weeks ago the wife of a den leader was corrected by his PC wife when he said Indian when talking about something "Native Americans" she whispered, glaring at him. The trend has reached he tipping point. I'm finishing this year and that is the end for my sons.

Sheik Isa Air Base is about 35k from Manama, the only real city on the island. We stayed in a five star Navy hotel in Manama and the Navy maintainers stayed in a ratty old barracks on the air base. After a few days we had made friends with a bunch of them and began letting them sleep on our couches and floors in the hotel. Otherwise, they had to be back on the base by 10 PM.

Yep. They were masters. The legacy of The Ramones, through to The Pistols (probably more so) etc, that often gets overlooked is the impact they had on music in the greater scheme of things. They ushered in an era of liberation for musicians. You didn't have to sound like Eric Clapton, or write songs like The Beatles to get somewhere. All you needed was the will to have a go. Many, many people who may never have tried, had a shot and got an audience, regardless of how skilled or talented they were. Some dropped out, some actually found they had skill and talent. The gated community of the music industry got bypassed. It allowed you to get somewhere even if you weren't much chop to start with. So long as you rocked, produced a couple of good songs and had attitude.

568 More on the DH. He has lung cancer, certainly, but we still don't know what kind or state. He also has an enlarged thyroid. Not something known to metastisize from the lung. WTF is pretty much what the docs have to say.

Biopsies next Monday, so another week of gritting our teeth and bruising our knees. If nothing else, my prayer muscles are getting nicely toned. Took him for anointing today, before daily Mass. What a lovely thing that is. Had two women come up and just pray, ended up leading the rosary myself, which I haven't done since I don't know when.

I went and got me a young one so he wouldn't wear out too soon, and now look at him. Damn.

No, expect at one point he was doing telephone surveys for a temporary agency. He did not like it.
His background is in systems analysis. He worked with Prudential and IBM but got downsized in Obama's first term and was never able to find a job in that field so he's now driving a bus for Senior citizens, but the full time job bus driving he applied for he hasn't heard anything on yet. However, it was only a few days ago.

Long time lurker when I was working, part time sock now, mostly a day walker, but hurt my back trying to fix my washed out drive caused by the Russians, at least the russian water from the hillside. But back to finding work for those that need it. It seems to be getting more and more difficult to get employment and if you are not the right type that checks off the correct boxes, and if you are 50 or older GOODLUCK. So, in the past most of my jobs have been because of someone that knew me and that was my IN. If you look at different groups of people from different schools and religions such as the Mormons, they seem to have a network to help their own. So aren't we as good or better than them? And can't we help our brothers and sisters out?

In cases of cancer, St. Peregrine, plus we have been calling on St. Joseph and particularly on Our Lady of Perpetual Help. I have so many medals hanging off my rosary I'm thinking it would probably be lethal in combat. I sent a prayer request to the prayer circle at our Cathedral--those ladies have a pretty direct line to heaven at this point, and they are kinda bossy, so I expect results soon.

Would love to help you out, but Shell Oil moved out, BP is trying to, and Conoco Phillips isn't hiring. Check back, though, once Trump gets oil moving here again. They found another big deposit and there will be, eventually, ANWR. But with oil below $60 nobody is going to hire any time soon. Even the rig tender operators are laying off, and they still have to tend the rigs that are there.

And as goes oil, so goes AK economy.

OTOH, how are you at sorting leaves, seeds and stems? It's legal here now and THAT business is gearing up. Not my cup of tea, but hey.

They do so at times when they think there is a chance to exploit a difference in a society so as to be able to cause a rift. To be able to rend to pieces the ordered structure of society and replace it with their desires.

The first two Asia albums (and a couple of the more recent comeback albums were worthy) plus tons of studio work with the likes of Brian Eno and Phil Manzanera. He even played in Uriah Heep. But then again, who didn't. Roxy Music too. And more recently he had championed the Prog group District 97, producing and making live appearances with them.

Great career. He will be missed.
