But before that...

He wrote movie reviews. Before there was hardly any www, Drudge wrote conservative-flavored movie reviews, and they would occasionally get posted to internet newsgroups. I actually signed up for $15 per year to get them e-mailed directly to me. It was one of the few computer related services I actually paid for. I think I may have just graduated from a 2400 baud to a 14.4K modem.

One time he bemoaned how bad the movies were that were coming out, asking rhetorically why they all were had to be so crappy. I e-mailed him a one word reply: "Cocaine". Much to my surprise, he responded, "You're probably right."

So that's my Matt Drudge story.

Heh. We just did a presentation today to an OEM manufacturer to take over out-of-warranty repairs on one of their product lines. They're in the process of shutting down the in-house repair and sending it to Mexico, but we found out about it through the industry grapevine and pitched them on an alternative.

The first conversation on the subject last week started almost verbatim with "In this new political environment, are you absolutely SURE you want to send this work to Mexico?????"

328 I have mixed emotions about Cabela's. When I lived in CT, the store they opened in East Hartford was only made possible because of an incredibly huge grant given to the company...something along the lines of $25 million.

Cabela's is a cool store, but I wish they didn't take government handouts.

Might be the only way to consider doing business in Connecticut, one of the worst business climates in the country.

I have a soft spot for Cabela's because they sold me a vacuum sealer which is about 5X better than the last two I went through.

That's my point. Its not really business if the state government has to give you $25 million. CT sucks; I once had a small business there before leaving for NH.

So yeah, I have no beef with their products, and their stores have really cool design effects. I love the mini-aquariums in some of them. I just hate the equivocation about so-called business practices that are nothing more than sanctioned theft from the taxpayers.

341 @ 333- I realize Glenn Beck has gone off the rails now. That's why I have not listened to him in over a year. When he is on here local, I listen instead to Chris Salcedo on another station in Dallas (WBAP). Only others I listen to are Rush Limbaugh and Mark Levin.
