The Intel Community "Deep State" Is Conducting Political Warfare inside the US

They do this a lot -- ineffectually -- in foreign countries.

Now they're doing the same thing here, and just as ineffectuality.

Video at the link, but here are some quotes:

"It cast doubt, not on CNN, but on the intelligence community and what they're doing exactly," Hemingway said. "Obviously they're leaking like sieves in an ongoing war against the president [elect]. So BuzzFeed kind of pulled the curtain back, showing how the intelligence community -- particularly the more partisan brass, not the intelligence officers who do the good work -- how they use the media to punish or destroy their political enemies."

"That is a very important journalistic story, and one that I think should be covered as journalists are sort of cooperating with this intelligence community campaign against the president [elect]," she said. "As we take this information from them we should also apply skepticism."

Asked if she thought intelligence officials were pushing these stories, Hemingway said U.S.Director of National Intelligence James "Clapper is a guy who lied to Congress about whether he was spying on them, he lied under oath about whether he was collecting information on hundreds of millions of Americans. We've had the intelligence community get in trouble for some political decisions about releasing information on Syria, creating an echo chamber to push the Iran deal. So as we take this information from them, we should also be applying skepticism and that’s something that’s not just right now but really going back decades. It's a lesson we keep failing to learn."

What scares me here is not the sinisterness of this -- but the gross incompetence, clumsiness, and obviousness of it.

This is the agency "covertly" attempting to influence foreign nations to our advantage? Using this level of deftness of touch? Hiding their hands to this extent?

I always thought Idiocracy was both a plausible and unsettling end-of-days scenario. It was unsettling because there was no heroism in humanity's last stand, just a pitiful stupidity. Other apocalypse scenarios at least give you the mercy of a powerful and capable villain -- so that even if you die, you die nobly and heroically, battling a worthy foe.

This entire episode is revealing our IC to not be some sinister and capable organization, but instead to be sinister and incompetent, incapable, and impotent.

But very energetic -- in a spastic, fumbling way -- in their determination to make their lurching presence felt.

It's frightening to think that the world is controlled by powerful unseen forces -- but it's terrifying to think the world is clumsily manipulated by borderline retards who imagine themselves to be kingmakers and kingbreakers.

Half Day at the HQ: My calendar says MLKJr Day is a federal holiday, and I believe in federalism. So I'm going to be half-here, half workin' on GAINZZz.

11 Ah John Brennan. It's one thing to be a dipshit. But it's another thing altogether to be an incompetent dipshit. Don't let the door slam you in the backside on your way out of the CIA. How did Obama find this pipsqueak?

Well part of it is that Obama never trusted himself in a room where he wasn't smarter than everybody else. So that sets a sort of very low ceiling on competence for his appointments.

I lament the dissolution of the line between news reporting and editorializing.

Of course, being an engineer, I would prefer any reporting to be in a form with the following blanks:

Title
- things that are verified

Then
- why (the paper thinks) this matters
- possible implications/effects
-etc.

Then I know what's news and what's editorial.

Revoke their security clearances, access to any part of government buildings except the bathroom and cafeteria. Review board dispute it? Let them. I disagree.
I find reputable Bloggers (Yourself included) to operate with a much higher level of ethical standards than the media.

No reputable Blogger simply rewrites a story, or adds a change/correction without leaving the original text stand, and than have the correction as a separate portion of text.

And most Media outlets can't stand up to the self policing that the commenters on Blogs provide.

90 ace I prefer they are clumsy and inept if they were wise we wouldn't have caught on to their 'hopes and dreams' to change the world in their very partisan ideology.

I am glad I was a witness to their loss of heroism and integrity as with the Benghazi calamity. I had put them all on a pedestal when only a few are worthy of that respect.
It was better to be made aware than to believe they would keep the country safe becasuse that was their job. and we would clap and applaud believing they do.
now we watch which was something we should have been doing anyway.
keep our public servants in check.

of course I'm only speaking for myself.

What scares the crap out of me, is that in the name of 'safety' we have taken a lot of control off them....

Historically, we had competing agencies... with Police, Spies, even the Military....

We could always send Marines to arrest an Army General....

We could send the ATF or Marshalls if the FBI got too powerful.

And we had the Defense Intelligence agencies who could do something about the CIA...

Now, almost all the Fed Police work for DHS...

And ALL the Spies, work for the DNI...

But now much of the Military now works for the Intelligence types.... at least all the Spec Ops guys... they've integrated into a common command structure...

143 In the exact same manner as the IRS, EPA, DOJ, State, Energy, Treasury, HHS etc, the "Intel Ccommunity" is over-larded with unionized left wing fiercely loyal Democrat career government-dependent employees.
These bureaucrats will actively sabotage Trump admin policies, and moreover that the press will play right along. For four years.

How that gets responded to by the American public is another question, but there's no doubt in my mind that the media's new best friend is about to be the Brave WhistleBlower in Agency X standing up to Trump and his hatchet-men.

Look also for endless sympathetic 5k-word think pieces in major dailies around the country lamenting the growing economic anxiety of career government bureaucrats who have been making 6 figures for two decades and are now terrified they might fall under the small government axe. How that too goes over with the American public is subject to question, though the answer seems obvious.

To recap: career unionized lib bureaucrats in the fed govt will sabotage Trump wherever they can whenever they can. The media and pop culture will cheer and characterize these malefactors as brave dissenting patriots of the highest magnitude.

The dateline is Nov. 1, 1963. The place is Saigon, the Republic of Vietnam.

President Diem and his brother are murdered in a coup that ousted him from power. The coup leaders had the support of Kennedy's CIA because they all thought Diem and his brother were not helping.

As far as I know, to this day the US participants still claim they had no idea that the Diem brothers would be murdered. The plan was to merely depose Diam according to them.

They almost pulled it off.

CNN was able to get it's story into the public view (with its vague reference to the "dossier", implying sooper-secret info worrying the CIA) and stating unequivocally it was serious enough that Trump had been briefed, all citing unnamed "senior intelligence sources".

The screwy part was that Buzzfeed then published the whole document and exposed the silliness for what it was. The nefarious became ridiculous.

Despite all that, the Propaganda Press tried hard to rescue this story. Just today, Business Insider (as lefty as they come) tried to treat this thing seriously in an article and CNN is out yet again with a critical attack on Buzzfeed. NBC has been full-on attacking Buzzfeed ever since the event happened.

They aren't giving up. They almost pulled it off. Trump nailed them, hard, but the Propadanda Press and the CIA tried to hobble the incoming administration pretty blatantly. Politics ain't beanbag, but this CIA needs to bleed over this.

247 Anna - A comment was made here the other night that SBD's used a 'spotting rifle' for targeting. I have no reason to doubt it, but am curious.

The discussion devolved to the 106mm recoiless rifle, with which I am familiar, and which definitely did use one, but I can find nothing about the SBD, except that the pilot had a .50 that used some sort of optical sight.

Do you know anything about that?

How about the unaccounted for uranium yellowcake? That is uranium that has already been refined from raw ore. Great for dirty bombs and super terrific, after further tweaking, to make real atomic weapons.

This is the same type of stuff Valerie Plame's husband said Iraq never bought from an African country. Remember Valerie of the CIA, the super secret agent whom everyone inside the Beltway knew worked for the CIA that got Scooter Libby caught? The darling victim of the Left Valerie?

But hey it was Gaylord knocking over Libya so everyone is totes fine with losing the Libyan yellowcake.

274 Mike Hammer, obviously you are talking about the Douglas SBD Dauntless diver-bomber and not the current gen smart munition also called the SBD or Small Diameter Bomb.

The SBD-1 thru SBD-4 had for the pilot a simple telescopic sight. Forget the power but that was how the pilot aimed to drop either the 500lb or 1,000lb bomb during a dive. The Douglas TBD-1 Devastator had a similar sight sticking through the windshield.

For the SBD-5 and SBD-6, the telescopic sight was replaced by a simple gunsight like that found in the F4F or F6F.

Posted by: pookysgirl at January 16, 2017 12:32 PM (Yikcg)

======================

I was nervous until 30 minutes before the lunch. I was in a conference room with a friend who told me about how she had somewhat embarrassed the CEO in front of her entire team when they moved the team but weren't backing up their promises of listening to them with any action. She was not immediately fired and continues to work at the company a year later.

The lunch itself was very much focused on gathering opinions on "what we can do to improve the company". So, the CEO sat, listened, asked follow up questions, and his secretary took notes.

I said my bit (politely and succinctly), he had a follow up question on which I could expand on the idea of the element that I thought was wrong, and we moved on.

Followed that up with a round of everyone in the room saying what they loved about the company (if you guessed "people" was said in every response, come collect your prize).

Overall, it was open, and he seemed earnest in his desire to help find problems that he could fix.

Maybe some good will come of it. He's supposedly doing this with every employee in the company (15 at a time), so if he hears the same complaints over and over again, some good will happen.

So, long story short, it went well, and I'm happy it happened.

So I signed a lease 2 months ago and the first day is today. I also leased a covered parking space for an additional $35/ month because it was a few steps away from my apartment.

Found out today that there was a computer glitch and that space was not available even when I signed my lease 2 months ago. Leasing guy said I can have the space next to it in mid March.

I am also pissed because these dickwads re-striped the parking lot in July and lo and behold there were even less parking spaces than before. If I have to run to the store, when I come back my previous spot is gone.

So any Texas RE folks out there got any advice for me on negotiating with these turds?

Walking around in skimpy shorts and low plungy tops?

Those qualifications? I know lots of "men" who would qualify.

Face it, there are some places that do not hire based on qualifications, unless you consider shaking that a$$ a qualification.

No sweat. Donald Trump not only has a pen and a phone, it's no doubt the same one President Drone McRemoteKill used.

Drone them. Drone all released Gitmo terrorists, as soon as they can be found.

And when the inevitable screaming occurs, just ask them why they're suddenly upset at President Trump continuing one of President Obama's policies.

You know, like all the Democrats, media, and leftists (OK, redundant) insisted he do.

Yeah, there was talk that Bush was like the Dark Knight, the guy willing to go there to keep everyone safe, even if it meant being hated. How insanely bitch eating crackers both the Never Trump faction, the Democrats, John McCain (gah I hate being wrong that I gave him the benefit of the doubt) and the press are about Trump. Now, I get having to check because, hey, stranger things have happened but that this has gone around for months and months and appears to be the impetus behind the more crazed Never Trumpers speaks only to how they are way past the horizon of dealing rationally with Trump.

For the umpteenth time, that's how I am about Bill Clinton and, as a result, I don't ever discuss Bill Clinton because I know that I cannot be sane about it.

When I'm the reasonable one? Yeah, that's a yuge luxurious bigly problem. I've yet to see any kind of self-reflection by those who appear to have bought this lock, stock and barrel as to just how it is they could be duped like that.

Them being from Wisconsin, I'd expect them to fall in with the population who grew up in predominantly Democratic households and moved into light Republican territory over the last 10 years.

I know that Jack the Wizard is a libtard. When I've gone through his Twitter feed, it's all about social justice stuff.

They also make comments to somewhat insult Trump a bit here and there (I think the last Best of the Worst had Mike saying things about Trump's cabinet in a tirade about how things were falling apart...done in his joking tone so I'm not sure how he actually believes). It's rare, though. Very rare.

In a video later, Jay was reading comments about how the anti-Ghostbusters fans were saying, "You're one of us!" His reply was, "You're wrong. Both sides are terrible."

They seem largely apolitical, but their news sources are probably leaning to the left.

Not that it matters. I love how they talk about movies. I think they speak about them intelligently and humorously.

465 It's changed a lot since I was a bright and earnest young fellow. in those days, there were still a lot of the OSS types around, and the Dulles brothers knew exactly how to work the intel business. The agency had it's own direct action folks, and carried its own water in most everything. We learned a lot from the Brits, a surprising amount from the Israelis, and even from the French, who even today, have a surprisingly robust intel structure, although they tend not to share.
In my view, it changed with Carter. He flushed the remaining OSS folks and as many of the Dulles people as he could. His theory was that the old methods of gaining intel were passe, and were giving way to satellite intel. He also took a completely hands off approach to all Russian intel folks. We could deal harshly with surrogates like the Bulgarians and Albanians, but not the Russians. And control over priorities moved to the WH, instead of being centered in the 7th floor. Gone were the direct action folks, requiring borrowing from the military for stuff.
And the result of this micromanagement of professionals by non professionals was the disaster in the Iranian desert. Carter was actually involved in deciding fuel loads for the choppers.
Since that time the 7th floor has become all about politics. 90% of agency employees never leave the US. Many "analysts " are hardcore leftists from leftist universities. Hiring is done through diversity perogatives rather than qualifications.
I believe Bush 43 blew it when he formed ONI. He could have distilled out the best the agency had to offer, formed a real intel capacity, and let the agency hang on as a poorly funded public symbol of mismanagement, while still getting the real work done..That opportunity has passed..At this point, you can't fire a federal employee, but you can make their circumstances such that they quit. There a at least two abandoned Air Force bases up near the arctic circle that could be staffed as a "beta" site by agency personnel. Any who didn't like the assignment, could resign..

494 Should be noted the most visible and influential members of the US 'Intelligence Community' are and have always been of the upper crust old money class and products of Ivy League universities. Occasionally those institutions have produced capable and effective spies and spymasters--Yale's James Jesus Angleton comes to mind. So does George H. W. Bush.

Not any more. George 'Slam Dunk' Tenant was and is an idiot. James Clapper is a ridiculously bad liar. John Brennan is a Machiavellian who may or may not be slanting intelligence reports to protect his religion.

I think of it as a kind of socio-cultural incest. They've been drawing from the same pool too long.

All the terrorists had to do was wait it out and reform as soon as Obama did as he promised. And that's how we got ISIS.

I love athletic girls. They're the best type. But I love them for their athletic bodies. Rarely do I care about their actual athleticism ... because they are never really that good. There is no sport around that women do better than men. There are basically no sports that women can even compete with the men, even adjusting for height and weight. That's not to say that women aren't good athletes - female gymnasts are awesome, for example - but it remains true that whatever the female gymnasts do the men do harder and more complicated routines and tricks. I enjoy watching the women, but for the sport, itself, the men are always throwing better routines.

Along the same lines, I enjoy watching women's track and field, but it's always understood that it's the junior varsity. The real competition is only in the men's track and field. I can't get much excited by a chick who breaks the women's world record but would likely lose on a good men's high school team. But that doesn't stop me from watching it now and then.

Of course, in other women's "sports" the girls are just smoking hot - and that's more than good enough.

533 The way people think about the intelligence community being smart and competent reminds me of the way I used to think of engineers in General Motors and Rockwell as the being just as smart and competent.

That was before I started dealing with them.

Back in my corporate days, we made ridiculous money primarily by ignoring what the GM or other big company engineers wanted and instead going back and telling them what they really wanted is what we designed.

It made sense that if the designs coming off of their computers were elegant and clever, they would be in business for themselves instead of warming a cubicle at the Tech Center.

The moral of the story is that never believe someone is smarter or more talented than you are.

For example in the marathon, the men's record is

Not saying the women in these cases are stronger or more athletic, but in general, there is more emphasis on gracefulness as part of the overall presentation and scoring (in addition to the athleticism of the jumps/acrobatics/etc.).

seriously. The competition to be in professional sports is insane. The top of the top of the top of the 1% play in the big leagues of anything for men. It would be extremely unlikely for any female to legitimately start on a professional male team in the major professional sports. Not talking about darts or anything like that . . .

Not that there aren't women who have more atheletic ability that men there are, but at the top, there aren't. Now in the UFC and in things like the cross fit games, I wonder if some of those women aren't hitting the steroids. In the UFC a fair number of the men are hitting the steroids.

620 I seriously doubt that.Women don't have the leg strength to be overpowering or the upperbody strength to snap off pitches that move

I don't think a girl could be a closer, but setup? Sure. Off speed stuff, sneaky pitches. You don't have to have a 105 mph fastball to be effective, guys like Jamie Moyer dominated and I doubt he could break 75 with his best stuff. 649 Here's a crazy thought ... since all these entities in the wrong hands can be used against the public ... and we can be certain the wrong hands will eventually get control again ... how about we make them all smaller.

Yeah, that's the only answer. Cut them back, weaken them, narrow their scope, and make it so to abuse them and get the same level of tyranny it takes your full term just to get them up to speed again. The IRS couldn't be weaponized very effectively if it was half as big and much weaker. The EPA shouldn't exist at all save for oceans and maybe waterways that cross state borders (like a major river).

The problem, as always, is not the people in charge, but the scope and size of government. If Trump can do anything about that, he'll be bigger than Reagan in my book. I just want one president to leave office with government smaller than he started. Every other one has been bigger.

" The competition to be in professional sports is insane. The top of the top of the top of the 1% play in the big leagues of anything for men. It would be extremely unlikely for any female to legitimately start on a professional male team in the major professional sports. Not talking about darts or anything like that . . . "

Theoretically, yeah, I suppose it would be possible for a woman pitcher with a great slider or something like that to do relief work in limited innings.

However, she's not just competing against the batters. She's competing for that slot in the rotation against male pitchers - and against all the guys in the minors who are dying to get their cup of coffee. And before that she'll have to deal with the college and high school pitchers and once the guys hit puberty, they'll have a big advantage.

I just don't see it happening, except as a publicity stunt. And you know what? I'm fine with that. I don't feel like somehow less of a person because guys are generally bigger and stronger than I am. I don't enjoy sports less because I'm not seeing a "female role model" out there playing.

675 Hard to say what the spooks have actually accomplished ... I suppose we'd never know if they actually saved the world many times. They act like they have, in any case. But going on TV to trash Trump, or giving any credence to golden shower goofiness (which "allowed" it to go mainstream) ... is political flame throwing.

Certainly, the bankers funding Hillary feel they deserve power over the real affairs of state, and the CIA appeared to be on their global cabal side of things. Deep state is one thing, maybe "shadow government" is different. The cultural Marxists want to bring down "the west", and Merkel is on board with her open door policy that is destroying Germany, while Hillary and Cameron forced regime change in Libya to unleash the Muslim horde. (Soros/Blumenthal backing it all, with a hotline to Hilda)

Now we have Turkey going caliphate, but the Muslim Brotherhood deep in US government got voted out. With Trump, America First can perhaps reverse the course of the globalist regime. The war is fought on all fronts ... cyber and economic being an active battlefield already. There is no "free market", it is all battlefield.

We publicly see some incompetence, but when they hide so much criminal activity (e.g. everything the Clintons touch), they end up making stupid sounding excuses ("wipe it, like with a cloth?") And largely they play to an LIV stupid audience. Change is gonna do US good.

682 Then Gaylord got into power. And like Mussolini and
Ethiopia, decided to perform regime change on a country doing nothing to
no one. So Muamar is now dead, the country has the political cohesion
of Somalia, and the uranium yellowcake that was about to be turned over
to the US is unaccounted for.

and the gateway to Europe for the Hijrah by the rapefugees was torn open from the hinges, not to be closed for years and years. Quadaffi, when he was seeing Obama's betrayal of the deal with W after turning over his WMD program, foretold the refugee crisis, saying words to the effect "you idiots. you fucking idiots. you do know I was the only bulwark against the masses coming from North Africa, don't you? if you do this, you will be flooded." The rest is Her Story.

684 A guy already brought suit against Hooters to force them to hire him as a
waiter. Hooters registered as a "sexually oriented business" and beat
the suit. Which is why Hooters doesn't have any waiters.

LOL. This was covered on an episode of King of the Hill.

687 Our world is ruled by psychopaths...and psychopaths never hire anyone who is more intelligent or more capable than themselves.

So...you end up with 'turtles, all the way down'. i.e. incompetence at every level of government and bureaucracy.

688 If you tell those lefties the only raises they're ever gonna get are the salaries of their departed co-workers, they'll have co-worker bbq's every day.

689 The constant references, without irony, to "17 intelligence agencies" is jarring. While the CIA always has been incompetent, the others aren't all that and a bag of chips, either. How about mass firings, consolidation, and a competent spying apparatus? Trump knows how to reorganize failed institutions. He has little to fear as the "intelligence" community's last successful domestic assassination was fifty years ago. Put one or two on trial for leaking, throw their sorry asses in prison, and the rogue pencil pushers can be brought to heel.

Also, for shits and giggles, check the CIA Facebook page and Twitter profile. They are not capable of keeping Americans from being slaughtered but damned if they don't know how to placate the LBGQT community.

690 Purges are, mostly, bad for business. I think that a few simple guidelines, especially for the analysts, could go a long way toward solving some of the problems. For example, they should disregard, for the time being, any factors involving man-made climate change in their assessments. Also, they should disregard the sensitivities of their bosses, with respect to those bosses pencil pushing job security, and instead develop their assessments based upon their area expertise, their hard won knowledge, and in conformance with rule #1. Rule #1 states, your life and your job is to be dedicated to protecting America from external threats. We should soon also issue some new guidelines to the FBI so that they have a clearer idea of how internal threats should be handled. Politics be damned, should be in bold letters on the first page. Case officers, agents, well, I think that most of those fellas have a pretty good sense of what is really going on off shore and outside of the beltway. I don't want to see us crucifying the innocent just because it feels good to do crucifixions now and then.
